• Choice Band Genesect is a strong revenge killer with its +2 priority Extreme Speed able to pick off weakened threats. Its unique typing and coverage let it check prominent Pokemon including Deoxys-S and Fairy-types. However, without an Attack boost from Download its damage output can be underwhelming and it gets OHKOed by the omnipresent Volcanion.
• Iron Head is one of only a few moves that threaten to cleanly OHKO common Fairy-types like Mega Diancie, Mega Gardevoir, and Sylveon.
• Genesect can also provide significant momentum with its secondary STAB, U-turn.
• Extreme Speed is great for KOing faster threats and priority users like Kingdra and Talonflame after some chip damage.
• Blaze Kick rounds out its coverage, preventing it from being useless against Steel-types like Aegislash and opposing Genesect.
• The EV spread maximizes Genesect's Attack and Speed, while a Hasty nature and shiny coloration are required to use the event exclusive move Extreme Speed.
• Genesect benefits greatly from Stealth Rock support to put foes in range of Extreme Speed, so Deoxys-S and Mega Diancie make great partners. Genesect also needs allies who can beat Volcanion, so Landorus, Landorus-T, and Thundurs are good teammates as well.
• Genesect should be used as a late game cleaner once opponents have been whittled down by its allies and Stealth Rock. If possible, bring it in versus Pokemon with low Defense to gain an Attack boost with Download.

[SET COMMENTS]

• Choice Scarf Genesect is a fast attacker and pivot with excellent coverage, beating opposing Choice Scarf users including Landorus-T and Kyurem-B. If it’s not hitting for super effective damage, though, it’s not a very powerful offensive threat.
• Iron Head and Flash Cannon deal good damage after a Download boost. Iron Head is better into opposing Mega Gardevoir, while Flash Cannon is guaranteed to OHKO Mega Diancie even if it acquires several Diamond Storm Defense boosts.
• U-turn lets Genesect deal damage while pivoting and maintaining offensive pressure.
• Ice Beam hits Landorus, Landorus-T, and Mega Salamence for 4x super effective damage, while Flamethrower lets Genesect hit opposing Steel-types.
• The EV spread maximizes Genesect's Attack and Speed, while a Hasty nature and shiny coloration are required to bluff having the event exclusive move Extreme Speed. Maintaining that surprise can force mind games and allow Scarf Genesect to catch the opponent off guard. If using Flash Cannon, maximum Special Attack investment should be used instead. • Choice Scarf Genesect benefits from Mega Gengar's Shadow Tag which allows it to safely lock into a coverage move and KO specific threats including Choice Scarf Landorus-T and opposing Genesect. [TO DO: more partners, ask QC for recommendations]
• Choice Scarf Genesect is great in the mid game to chunk the opposing Pokemon and switch out with U-turn. Be wary of opposing Thundurus and don't allow Genesect to get Paralyzed.
