Hello everyone! After analyzing the metagame since Genesect's au revoir and taking the input of the playerbase into consideration, the council has decided to quickban Zygarde unanimously.
Zygarde has been one of the most prominent and constricting threats since the inauguration of this tier. This can be attributed to its bulk, typing, and ludicrous variety of moveset options, realized by an extremely sufficient move in Thousand Arrows; a reliable STAB move with no immunities and very few resists allows a lot of freedom for Zygarde to customize its three remaining moveslots, which it can utilize in order to overwhelm its checks very reliably.
This capability of overwhelming every single one of its checks with the correct set is the predominant factor of Zygarde’s brokenness, often necessitating at least two slots on any balance team to properly keep it from winning. It can effectively run Choice Band, Sub-Glare, Sub-Toxic and Z-Ground, in addition to many more niche sets such as Z-Dragon, Z-Steel, Weakness Policy and Sub-Protect with Toxic Spikes support. Tangrowth and Slowbro, which are some of its most consistent answers on paper, outright lose to Toxic and cannot consistently deal with Band Outrage. Clefable barely holds its own against Choice Band, but struggles mightily with Z-Ground, Z-Steel, and Glare. Other potential answers, such as Mega Scizor and Gliscor, face the exact same issues. This leads to Zygarde being very unpredictable and therefore tough to reliably check. This is accentuated even further due to its great 108/121/95 bulk, which makes revenge killing it a very difficult task.
All in all, Zygarde’s grip on the current meta, be it in the teambuilder or in practice, is deemed extremely unhealthy by the council and playerbase. Hence, Zygarde deserved no place in this tier.
