Smogon Hall of Fame - World Cup

Smogon World Cup is a team based tournament where participants fight for their country or region. 16 different teams representing various parts of the world will fight to see which country is truly the best. Teams are composed of 12 players with 8 starters and a maximum 4 substitute. World Cup has changed over recent years to include past generations of OU, So not only are they 5 Oras slots, but 1 ADV, DPP, and BW OU slot as well.

This first stage of this tournament, of the Qualifying Round, players are placed into groups of 4, where they will battle all three of their opponents. Divisions will be assigned randomly and each team will play each other team at least once and no more than twice. Points will be based on placement depending on how players finish in their pools.

Based on the point accumulated in the qualifying round, team will be seeded and place into an 8 team bracket. Teams will battle in 8v8 format where each of the members from one will play against the other. At the end of all 8 battles, the team with more wins will qualify for the next round. In the case of a tie, both teams will nominate a representative to participate in a sudden death tie-breaker battle which will be played with the standard XY OU rules.

The tournament will progress in this format till only one country remains, that team will not only be included into the Hall Of Fame, but will be named the champions of The Smogon World Cup and receive a trophy for their efforts.
