Hi C&C, here is my Poochyena analysis! After clearing up some of my LC analyses, I can finally post this one! All feedback is welcome! Thank you!

[Overview]

At first glance, Poochyena may seem outclassed by Stunky, who has higher stats across the board; however, Poochyena has some tricks up his sleeve as well, such as access to Quick Feet and a fairly large movepool. Even though Poochyena has a decent Attack stat, its mediocre other stats lead many people to overlook him. However, Poochyena has a rare ability in Quick Feet and hits 14 Speed, allowing him to outspeed all Pokemon who don’t carry a Choice Scarf once Quick Feet is activated. Overall, Poochyena can be a dangerous threat when given the proper scenario.

[SET]
name: Physical Quick Feet
move 1: Sucker Punch
move 2: Facade
move 3: Ice Fang
move 4: Protect / Crunch / Howl
item: Toxic Orb
ability: Quick Feet
nature: Jolly
evs: 236 Atk / 36 SpD / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set utilizes a combination of Toxic Orb and Quick Feet to remedy Poochyena’s average Speed stat by boosting it from 14 to 21, which allows Poochyena to outspeed all non-Choice Scarf Pokemon. With boosted Speed, Poochyena can then put some major dents in the opponent’s team with the respective attacks. Poochyena has access to STAB Sucker Punch, one of the strongest priority moves in the game which allows him to pick off weakened Pokemon. Once Toxic Orb activates, Facade's Base Power doubles to 140, making Poochyena an extremely tough Pokemon to counter. Ice Fang lets Poochyena hit Gligar, who would normally wall this set, for super effective damage. Protect allows Toxic Orb to be activated without Poochyena getting attacked, and is also useful for scouting. Crunch is a reliable STAB option in the last slot that can additionally lower the target's Defense 20% of the time. Howl is also an option, as it allows Poochyena to boost his Attack.

[ADDITIONAL COMMENTS]

Poochyena should be sent in on a weakened Pokemon who can be picked off with Sucker Punch. This allows Poochyena to activate Toxic Orb while KOing the opposing Pokemon with Sucker Punch. Moreover, Poochyena can forgo Protect in this case for Crunch or Howl. It should be noted that Facade, when Poochyena has a status affliction, deals more damage to a neutral target than STAB Sucker Punch. Ghost-types are immune to Facade, but cannot check Poochyena because they are threatened by Sucker Punch and Crunch. The EV spread gives Poochyena maximum Attack and Speed, while boosting its Special Defense by one point with the remaining EVs.

[Team Options]

Gligar is an excellent teammate, as he is able to eliminate bulky Steel-type Pokemon such as Aron with Earthquake. As a plus, Gligar has U-turn to scout the opponent’s team, letting Poochyena’s Toxic Orb activate for free by bringing Poochyena in after using U-turn on a predicted switch. Gligar also resists Fighting- and Bug-type attacks that Poochyena is weak to. Last but not least, Magnemite is a good teammate, as the magnet can trap Bronzor with Magnet Pull and take him out with Thunderbolt.

[Optional Changes]

Fire Fang can be used if you want Poochyena to hit Steel-type Pokemon, but the most common Steel-type, Bronzor, is only 3HKOed. A mixed set consisting of Dark Pulse, Hidden Power Ice, Sucker Punch, and Thunder Fang could work due to its power and decent coverage. However, a special set is not mentioned because Poochyena's pitiful special movepool is limited to Dark Pulse and Hidden Power. Pursuit can be used to surprise Pokemon who are trying to escape; it is particularly useful against Ghost-types such as Gastly, who can be placed in a checkmate position if they are at 60% health or under since they will be KOed regardless of whether or not they switch out. Rock Smash allows Poochyena to beat Aron, who would otherwise freely set up on Poochyena, as well as soften up switch-ins with its 50% chance of lowering the opponent's Defense. Lastly, Snatch can be used against Pokemon who try to counter Poochyena with Substitute, stealing their Substitutes if they don't attack, as Poochyena threatens to hit them hard with Sucker Punch if they do choose to attack.

[Counters]

Bronzor counters Poochyena rather well, as he is only afraid of Fire Fang, which only 3HKOes Bronzor at best; as such, Bronzor can comfortably switch in, set up Stealth Rock, and strike back with Gyro Ball. Choice Scarf Mankey and Machop are great checks to Poochyena, since both are able to OHKO him with Close Combat and do not fear taking a resisted Sucker Punch; Mankey is especially effective, as he can deal lots of damage with U-turn while scouting for a potential switch-in at the same time. Though not a counter, Gastly is immune to Facade and can set up a Substitute while Poochyena uses Sucker Punch, allowing Gastly to take out Poochyena the next turn with Sludge Bomb. Though not a particularly effective strategy, Poochyena’s opponents can play mind games with him by using non-damaging moves when Poochyena uses Sucker Punch, making him waste precious turns while Toxic damage slowly accumulates. Poochyena is very frail, so any priority move that he does not resist will deal huge amounts of damage even if it does not outright KO.

...

What does Fire Fang do?

Bronzor can take a bunch of 'em, and SR or Reflect (which lets it take MORE)

Aron lols, Rock Polishes, and Head Smashes/EQs/Iron Heads/Magnet Rises/Substitutes

Magnemite tanks them and OHKOs you

Shieldon cries in the corner because it doesn't exist

Facade and/or Sucker Punch beat Snover and Paras.

Why not both Crunch and Sucker Punch? A la Stunky?

wait - how come Protect isn't mentioned at all? This allows Poochyena to activate toxic orb without getting killed by every attack that isn't psychic type.

Yeah, slash it over Crunch. :0 It doesn't really make sense to have Crunch slashed as an option in the first slot, then have it be the only option in the last... might as well just list it as Sucker Punch/Facade/Crunch/Ice Fang if you're not gonna slash anything else over it.

...ranting aside, Protect should be slashed over Crunch, yeah.

Facade shouldn't have the cedille on the c (no ç), even though it's correct, because it's not in the games iirc.

Crunch hits bronzor nearly as hard as fire fang, due to neutrality and STAB.

Put a note in that scarfchop/scarfed mankey... hell, any scarfer faster than it checks it. Also make sure to include what differentiates it from stunky, not just in ability but also in movepool, as stunky is faster, immune to poison instead of being guaranteed poison, and hits harder thanks to LO.

A mention of pursuit would be good, as if it's switched in once before it can switch into gastly's hypnosis for free, and outspeed it while threatening a stab pursuit or a stab crunch/SP. Actually, that's one of the few things that it can do that stunky can't, as gastly outspeeds Stunky. Definately mention that. It also switches into abra's psychic for free and checkmates it, but no one uses abra.

The mixed set in OO should have sucker punch. STAB sucker punch is a rare commodity in LC, and poochy is slow, so it loves any priority it can use. Unless it's not using a LO, and it's using a tox orb. In which case, sucker punch still kicks ass.

Umm... Mention rock smash. It gets the ohko (i think?) on Aron who otherwise sets up on your ass. Also a good move to fire blindly on switches for the chance of a defense drop... It's not like psychics or ghosts are gonna be switching in anyways.

Write up a howl set, it could potentially be devastating if you manage to force a switch, it's basically a DD. It sucks, but it's the best poochy has.

Last POTENTIAL opttion is snatch. If you predict really well, it could be devastating with sucker punch, as if they predict wrong and set up a sub, it's you that gets the free sub. Basically for those that love mind games, but it could be quite lulzy. And who doesn't love a bunch of random sets on analyses, they make for great reading when you're bored laddering. I say go nuts with this one.

Crappy pokemon. It rules LC NU though, good writing. =)

Stunky is, um, faster? :/

About the first point, some scarfers are dealt with by STAB Sucker Punch deals with if they've taken neutral hits or sr or something. For not-example, Mankey and Machop (or Houndour). For example, Chinchou or Snover (or Gastly).

I doubt an unboosted (stab doesn't count) sucker punch ohkoes a chinchou. Houndour's Life Orb SP does like 60%, and LO makes up for the lack of evs. By more even.

And Gastly would a. trick the SP or b. switch out or c. hypnosis or d. sludge bomb on a crunch... Gastly has the tools to beat poochyena if it predicts right.

Snover has the ability to Ice Shard to block sucker punch, so again it's a matter of prediction.

Also, stunky has more base speed. Which matters if you're using a non-QF set (which admittedly lacks viability). Also scarf stunky ruuuulz, maybe.

I feel argumentative

I said if they took previous damage. Anyway, STAB super-priority's gotta hurt. :/

a. crunched b. you win[/pursuit?] c. toxic orb'd d. sucker punch

Anyway, the point is, not all scarfers check Pooch because it's got le priorite forte.

On the Howl set, shouldn't it be the same as the first set, but with Howl in the fourth slot and Facade slashed with Fire Fang?

You really only need to add Howl as a slash in the Quick feet set. It doesn't really merit its own set, because in essence they do the same thing: Sweep late-game. Howl just lets Poochy nab a bit more power.

Again, take the cedille off of the c in Facade. Yes, that's how it's "really spelled", but it also blows up the SCMS, and that's not what it's called in-game.

Mention that pursuit can be used to checkmate gastly; the if it gets below [certain amt of hp that pursuit always does], poochy can outspeed and kill it with pursuit. This is one thing that it has over stunky and houndour, so it should be mentioned.

Otherwise, it looks great.

In your counters, you still mention Fire Fang, that should be removed

Otherwise, this is really good

P.S. Why aren't you getting a Pre-contributor badge, you are dominating LC-QC, getting everything done within a week...

EDIT: k

Bronzor is only afraid of Fire Fang, and even that can only 3-4HKO Bronzor, meaning Bronzor can comfortably set up Stealth Rock, and fire off Gyro Ball. Choice Scarf Mankey and Machop is a great check to Poochyena, being able to OHKO with Close Combat or deal lots of damage with U-turn in the case of Mankey before Poochyena can Façade. Mankey does not have to worry about Sucker Punch either because it resists it. Though not a counter, Gastly is immune to Façade, and can get up a Substitute while Poochyena uses Sucker Punch, allowing Gastly to take out Poochyena the next turn with Sludge Bomb. Though not a useful strategy, Poochyena’s opponents can play mind games with it, using non-damaging moves when it uses Sucker Punch, while its damage from Toxic slowly increases.

Machop resists Sucker Punch as well.

Guys, that was a random comment, and Fatecrashers, it's not GP checking, it's more like stealing the glory for yourself...

These comments will just be removed, so we might as well stop this useless talk and get back to the poochyena at hand.

Mention Priority moves is the counters section. From my experience, any priority move not named Shadow Sneak or Sucker Punch does a nice dent to Poochyena. Also, stop saying "this Pokemon should not be underestimated" in every analysis you write. While this is true for some Pokemon, Poochyena is not one of them. 21 Speed isn't even that good, since the most common Scarfers such as Mankey and Gligar reach higher Speed. However, everything else looks good. Approval stays if you make those changes.

This set, utilizing a combination of Toxic Orb and Poochyena's ability, Quick Feet,
remedies utilizes a combination of Toxic Orb and Quick Feet to remedy Poochyena’s average Speed stat by boosting it from 14 to 21, (comma) allowing which allows Poochyena to outspeed all non-Choice Scarf Pokemon. Poochyena’s Speed stat, coupled with powerful attacks mean Poochyena can With boosted Speed, Poochyena can then put some major dents in the opponent’s team with the respective attacks. Lastly, Snatch can be used against Pokemon who try to counter Poochyena with Substitute, stealing their Substitutes if they don't attack, as Poochyena threatens to hit them hard with Sucker Punch if they do choose to attack.

[Counters]

Bronzor counters Poochyena rather well, as it he is only afraid of Fire Fang, which only 3HKOes Bronzor at best; as such, Bronzor can comfortably switch in, set up Stealth Rock, and strike back with Gyro Ball. Though not a particularly effective strategy, Poochyena’s opponents can play mind games with it him, (remove comma) by using non-damaging moves when Poochyena uses Sucker Punch, making it him waste precious turns while its damage from Toxic Toxic damage slowly accumulates. Poochyena is very frail, so any priority move that he does not resist will deal huge amounts of damage even if it does not outright KO.

There's inconsistency with "he" and "it". Remember to stay consistent with your chosen pronoun (even by using "him" on genderless Pokemon). And... I guess there were some prose issues lingering about and some weird information. But... at least this is a short analysis. Some typos here and there too, so spellcheck!
