Hey, everyone! I've seen a couple of Smogonites who have YouTube channels created mostly for the worldwide VGC events, and I just thought it would be a pretty cool idea do make a Smogon VGC YouTube Channel for us VGC players. We could also promote other VGC YouTube channels from the Smogon VGC channel, if you guys want to be recognized. I understand stuff like the VGC Project is underway, and people already have their own separate channels, but wouldn't it be AWESOME if us VGC Smogonites had our own channel? I'll let you guys vote on the poll, whether or not we should do this. What do you guys think? Leave a comment below, and if you want to manage or create the channel, just ask!

Thanks, please don't hate, I just thought this would be cool. XD

EDIT: Here'a a list of some Smogonite VGC YouTubers who have some uploaded vids; comment below so I can add you to the list! (if you want me to remove you from the list, that's fine too.) Feel free to Luvdisc this thread!

EDIT 2: I hope we're allowed to do this; I mean the majority wants this to happen, according to the poll.

EDIT 3 IMPORTANT!!!: Once it's approved we can create the VGC channel, I'll start a new thread on what plan of action we'll take.

I'm actually a very big fan of this idea, it makes it a lot easier than searching through different channels for VGC videos. I'm totally willing to put videos up as well as tournament coverage, etc.

This seems like a very good idea, but I'm worried that Smogon is going to make another ban-happy meta out of it sooner or later.
I'm not really understanding, why would that ever happen considering that it's a VGC channel? Smogon can't choose to make the rules for VGC, Pokemon does.

whoa we really have a vgc revolution going on at the moment. I can't upload stuff but I can give some battle numbers.... maybe like 2. But it is a good idea

Personally, I like the idea. I'm a big fan of organisation and consistency, and although I really like the ways people upload their personal vids, it'd be really lovely get it all in a nice, clear format, so we can show it off as a community, rather than individuals. It's clear from moderating this forum that people are talented, and willing to get the footage/battle vids to show but it's just a case of agreeing on a way to present it, what to put together and getting a team to work on vids.

The only difficulty I immediately see though, is privacy. This has been bought up so many times before regarding VGC, where people don't want to reveal too much about their team and playstyle to the community, and I think progress on this, will always be a lot quicker after Nats/Worlds. Just a problem I could forsee.

Lol, I can't create the channel because my parents are mad that I already have multiple e-mails. If someone wants to create it, PM me. XD

Battle Vid #'s are good too, as they can still be played. Eiganjo was kind enough to turn some of the videos I had from my multiple savs into good quality YouTube videos via an emulator and other tools so something along the lines of that.

I admire your enthusiam, but, if we all want this to work, we need to plan this out properly. It's clear we as the VGC community have got people who can do battle videos nicely Eiganjo etc, and there's plenty of Kaphotics' thread for it. We know that people like Biff make great videos for every event they go to. Now it'd be a case of gathering everyone to get this on the road.

If you really want this to be a VGC revolution, why not talk to the people running the overhaul onsite? It seems to me like if the projects are combined, this Subforum could really have something special to show. I'm not trying to take this over btw, just provide advice for whoever ends up sorting this.

On the topic of privacy, I feel that it should definitely be that users submit battle videos to be reviewed before being uploaded(and of course having consent from their opponents), so the uploader is assured that this person wasn't too worried about privacy.

Yea I want this.
Better than having to go through multiple channels to find some good battles to watch.
It's gotta be executed well though.

I agree with Dozz. We should work together and plan this out correctly. Hopefully, this will be successful. ;)

Is it going to be like a VGC version of PokeMoshPit? Like with different uploaders and possibly narrators? If so get people like Shofu and stuff in this to make it popular :P

I think you should wait for Firestorm before you decide anything! I know he's been working with Smogon YouTube.
