Oh - so it's not a typo? My mistake! Also, see the cmd below for why I know I can't use a virtual adapter. It IS the miniport adapter you're referring to, yeah? The virtual one?

Yikes thats a bad sign lol Have you tried using the command 'netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow' in CMD? Do you just get an error? :( Oh well network cards are cheap.[/quote]
The command does nothing - while it says it's set to allow, since my network card sadly doesn't support hosted network mode, it won't do much. This is even with the latest drivers. Oh well! Time to see if I can liberate one of my brothers' laptops!

You need to do the CMD line again 'netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow'

k how do i check to see if it is allowing? whats the command i enter?

when i enter netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow it says i must enter that command from a command prompt with administrator privileges

confused by that since the only account on my computer is mine.

I don't get this on one of my USB WI FI adapters i can't connect to the internet and on the other one i get this ERROR :
An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040201)

Anyone have a possible solution to this?

"An operation is blocked waiting for an oplock. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800702FD)"

When I do the netsh WLAN command it just says command unknown or something, I don't even have that highlighted line in the above pic, mine just says the 140-2 mode then goes right to the infrastructure stuff

Right click the CMD.exe file and 'run as administrator' then try again

It may be worth it to update/reinstall your NIC drivers. Or check the manufacturer website to see if it's supported. If not you need a new NIC i guess lol

Ok it works now but now i can't connect to the Access point on this USB and on the other USB i couldn't connect to the Internet :S. no point doing this anymore wasted too much time on this and it still doesn't work. But if someone has a solution i will be very thankfull.

This works fantastically, just thought I'd say thanks!

To those having problems with the device not being 'in the right state' check that your wifi card is compatible. The one I was using wasn't...

From here:

"To find out whether your device/driver supports this feature, execute the following command in cmd windows,
netsh wlan show drivers
And look for the the support of hosted network,
Hosted network supported : yes/no"
I did that.. Still doesnt work. I get black bix

Just going to try explaining my problem one more time before I give up. So, my DS is regualarly connecting to the access point now. And my networks window looks like below. I'm using the Local Area Connection as the shared connection. I don't really see where I'm going wrong, I've restarted my computer and instacheck several times, but it just can't connect to the internet. Is there some really obvious button I need to press?

Edit: Also worth mentioning: the Local Area Connection has network sharing enabled with Wireless Network 12 (the name of the network that seems to be associated with the Instacheck) as the "home network connection"

So any help with the method or operation is not implemented thing? i have .net 3.5 and i have downloaded the required files i have allowed it access from my security program and it still wont work it states that hosted network supported : yes.

I've tried everything and I still cannot connect to the internet through my 3DS. I can connect with my phone, though. I've been trying for a few hours and would love some help as I'm sure there are many others with the same issue as well. Thanks.

This is the same problem i have i hope someone knows the problem.

k did it as admin, changed it, but still got that message saying virtual router wont work. its still shows up as an option on my 3ds, but wont connect

I'm completely connected to Instacheck, (connected to internet on 3DS, other networks deleted, has internet access on PC) and everything is working fine.
But Instacheck still doesn't show any trade data. I'm connected to the right network, and tried all the others on the off chance I was wrong.
Does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong? I have a ton of Bagons I want to check.

still not working for me, when i restart my computer, change the settings under admin, then try opening that instacheck i get that error message saying i cant open a virtual portal

I got it working initially but if the 3ds loses connection for any reason whatsoever, it is a total pain to get reconnected to the internet through instacheck. Does anyone else have this issue?

I've tried everything, I have everything up to date but when I start the hotspot and try to test connect the new connection through my 3DS it does not work! Does anyone have any ideas?

I feel like I'm missing something simple. I have followed the steps posted by a user earlier, found on: http://www.addictivetips.com/window...less-ad-hoc-internet-connection-in-windows-8/

I am on Windows 7, 64 bit mode.

Everything works flawless and matches the pictures provided, until I'm suppose to type "netsh wlan start hostednetwork". At the point, I get "The hosted network couldn't be started. The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.” message in CMD. However, I'm not on the wireless as I'm using the Ethernet cord as my default connection. ((I just acquired the wireless card today, solely for this reason.)) I have disabled and re-enabled it in the network connections/device manager, but the error still persists.

I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I have rebooted several times, and I still cannot get it work in the CMD, let alone the Instacheck. Anyone have any clues?
