    Before I realized just how little time I had, I planned to do an issue-ly column in The Smog where I answered a Data Science question that wouldn't work generally as a monthly usage stat. There I would've been able to explore cross-correlations and the like.

    I would have really enjoyed doing that too.

    How is data from PS collected? I assumed it was something like: at the start of each battle, the data from each team is just added to a database that you can pull from at the end of each month.

    Is it possible for someone to write an alternate script that could collect that additional information or is there something about the data collection that prevents this from being able to be done at all?

    No db--all battles are logged in json format. It's then up to my scripts to parse those logs and do the counting. File IO is actually the primary bottleneck.

    Unlike PO logs, PS logs contain all the info you could ever want. Data collection is simply a matter of asking the right questions when parsing. We can talk more, but we should probably do it in PM (too long for VM chain).
