Silly Things You've Seen On The OU Ladder!

He was switching to get the Sand Rush boost so he'd outspeed, but I kept stalling out his sandstorms. But yeah, neither of us were playing perfectly intelligently. I kept expecting SR and really wanted to stop him from getting that up, hence the whole Deoxys-D Taunt followed by repeated Espeon switch-ins.

Another funny thing I saw in OU Monotype: Dark Pulse Pangoro. Observe: http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/oumonotype-82242795

Special Machamp.
I'm not the best player, but seriously? I don't get it.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Machamp Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Skarmory: 338-398 (101.1 - 119.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Machamp Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Ferrothorn: 362-428 (102.8 - 121.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

don't diss specschamp it's a legit set in wonderland

We should definitely have a wonderland tier.

I don't think Specs Machamp is used for anything other than as a decoy to lure the things that threaten your actual sweeper. In other words: send in Machamp, opponent sends in physical wall or tank while going "what are you doing sending in this guy while my wall is still alive", then the wall gets KO'd by surprise Specschamp and the sweeper comes out. That, and I imagine it elicits a nice reaction from the victim.

What's sort of scary is how high that Ground mono guy got on the ladder.

Also, we should indeed make a wonderland tier, in which every actually practical set is banned.

Random Shit volume 15: Attack of the NU's Edition
-Curse Dusclops. Do you have any idea how easy it is to work around that?
-Heliolisk using Surf on Gyarados. Um...
-Arbok.
-Mega Lucario with Dragon Pulse. I never have figured out why people do that.
-Sashed Manaphy.
-Leaf Storm/Nature Power/Energy Ball Celebi. And before you go on about Nature Power, it turns into Tri Attack now.
-Blizzard/Hyper Beam Blissey.
-Two separate instances of Cresselia Lunar Dancing into a fresh Scolipede.
-Scolipede spamming Return.
-Raticate.
-Alomomola.
-Wailord.
-Thunder Wave/Gyro Ball Ferrothorn. Some people just can't connect the dots.
-Pachirisu.
-Absol using Shadow Ball? Bad. Forgetting Meloetta is immune to it? Even worse.
-Kingdra with Focus Energy, but apparently without Scope Lens.
-Nasty Plot Klefki. Nope, Zoroark. It kept Illusion up for close to 10 turns.
-Dark Pulse Gengar.
-Using Toxic against said Gengar.
-Brine Cloyster.
-Using Sludge Bomb against Mawile.
-Muscle Band Aggron. It still managed to OHKO the Mandibuzz that knocked it off (glorious Head Smash).
-Outrage Arcanine.
-Eruption/Sunny Day/Will-o-Wisp/Focus Punch Typhlosion. And thanks to crits, he won.

Another short one. All I saw was Focus Punch Lucario.
And Hydro Pump Azumarill. And Zen Mode Darmanitan.

Also, some people really don't understand how to Pokémon. I get the feeling they don't know how Mega Evolution works, either:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/customgame-82383470

And people who don't understand the ability Mummy or the thing about actually running non-STAB moves:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/customgame-82383291

And a match which is totally an Ubers match, no matter what anyone else thinks:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-82383577

And now featuring a mixed Groudon who tries to Earthquake a Ninjask. You'd think someone who insists on using the Japanese names for all the Pokémon would at least understand "what are strategery".
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-82383608

Ubers again, this time featuring Special-based Iron Defence Cloyster getting absolutely nothing done. Also Entrainment Durant leading into a Poison Heal Gliscor that lacks Protect.
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/ubers-82383042

Let's see what I can come up with if I spend a few minutes watching battles...

- Delibird.
- Dazzling Gleam Chansey.
- An Omastar using Shell Smash which then fails to outspeed an Espeon that wasn't scarfed.
- After getting this Omastar to 23% health, the opponent sends in 100% health Forretress. It chooses this moment to set up Stealth Rock.
- Drapion. It knew Iron Tail.
- Sitrus Berry Absol.

All of this happened in the span of five minutes. I wish I was kidding.

Smelling Salts. Because curing your opponent of status is always a good thing.
Fur Coat+Charm+Cotton Guard. Dedicating half your moveset to surviving physical attacks has never been so effective!
And now featuring a mixed Groudon who tries to Earthquake a Ninjask. You'd think someone who insists on using the Japanese names for all the Pokémon would at least understand "what are strategery".

To be fair, a team with Ninjask, Charizard, and Jumpluff should have a spinner or a defogger. And not be on the Ubers ladder.
I don't think missing Blizzard once can really be considered "hax"
So many attempt to break Sleep Clause that it really can't be considered "silly" anymore.
One guy said skarmory and clefable suck, this followed:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/storm-ou-9813
The amount of stupid in this match seems almost intentional.
Highlights:
-Sylveon using Dazzling Gleam instead of Moonblast or Hyper Voice.
-Detect in Singles. At all.
-Toxic Orb Facade Goodra. Yes, Goodra.
-Attempting to put a poisoned Clefable to sleep.
-Smeargle with Toxic Spikes is already pretty questionable, but the fact that it used it against a team of Skarmory and an already poisoned Clefable is amazing.
-Brick Break Scrafty.
-Dark Pulse Scrafty.
-Turns out that Smeargle also had Calm Mind.
-Aeral Ace.
Special Machamp.
I'm not the best player, but seriously? I don't get it.

Special Mega Aerodactyl, Confuse Ray Rotom-W, & Sashed Houndoom

That's all I have for now, see more on the next edition!

I thought Bright Powder was illegal?

Edit:
Doesn't matter that Hustle was the actual culprit, as there never was an Evasion Items Clause, and I think even the Evasion Abilities Clause is gone. That's right, Brightpowder Sand Veil is now legal, if you really feel like that is necessary. You could also run Brightpowder Parafusion Serene Grace Flinchax, if you really wanted to be a jerk about it. 14.2% chance of your opponent actually being able to attack gogogo! Heck, even without the confusion, that's only a 28.4% chance.
...I think the odds there are good enough for that strategy to actually not be considered "hax". Instead, the opponent successfully getting multiple attacks in would be "hax".
