Umm yeah idk if shit like SubToxic, Knock Off, and Haze would be considered "uncommon" enough to make a set with... So I decided to make this

Tentacruel @ Black Sludge
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 244 Def / 248 HP / 16 Spd
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Protect
- Rain Dance
- Toxic / Rapid Spin

Basically, this is a durable Rain setter that can help heal itself an its team. Rain Dance is the main move of this set, as with Tentacruel's good bulk, it can set it up quite easily. It also has Rain Dish, which in combination with Protect and Black Sludge means it can heal a good amount of it's health, around 1/4 iirc. Rapid Spin can be helpful for removing hazards, while Toxic is preferred for wearing down the opponent. Rain can also be helpful for supporting Pokemon such as Kingdra and Escavalier, who either get a great Speed boost, or lose their resistance to Fire. Overall, Tentacruel makes for a bulky weather setter who has an easy time supporting his himself and his team with Rain.

Personally I liked to run a Specs set in DDT, so I'll copy paste that.

EVs: 240 Spd / 252 SAtk / 16 Def
Modest Nature

- Hydro Pump

- Ice Beam / Giga drain
- Giga Drain / Dazzling gleam

Hydro pump and Sludge bomb are there for a somewhat powerful dual STAB. Sludge wave can be used to hit Chesnaught, but the poison chance of Sludge bomb is preferable. Sadly Tenta does not get Ice beam, so it has to rely on Blizzard for coverage. Ice beam has great neutral coverage alongside Hydro pump. Giga drain makes you beat gastrodon, which would have walled you if not. It also gives you a form of recovery. Dazzling gleam can be used to OHKO Hydreigon and Scrafty if you team has problems with them. The speed EVs are used like you can outspeed the 85+ group, since modest is needed to secure many OHKO/2HKOs

According to Showdown, Tentacruel gets Ice Beam...

Just wanna point this out for your benefit Yellow Cheese, but between Sludge bomb, Dazzling Gleam, and Hydro Pump, Tentacruel has no need for Blizzard except to hit Flying-types, so that may be something worth considering.

Im guessing that I did not see Ice beam when I made this set (febuary-ish).

In DDT I mainly had Blizzard for all the NFE dragons, In UU Ice beam would mostly be used for hitting Honch and Roserade. Honch can survive one Sludge bomb and retaliate with a Sucker punch that kills with only 16% prior damage, while Specs Roserade OHKOes with Leaf storm after SR. it also hits Chesnaught, since I prefere Giga drain over Dazzling Gleam (Being walled by Gastro is never fun). one could argue for sludge wave, but I prefere the poison chance of Sludge bomb.

Wow, for once I managed to get to Next Best Thing before 50 people post sets before me, lol. Here's something different for ya:

Tentacruel @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body/Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 SAtk / 16 Spd / 120 SDef / 120 HP
Modest/Calm Nature
- Scald
- Sludge Wave
- Giga Drain
- Rapid Spin / Mirror Coat

Comical set, spare me any and all references to famous YouTuber BlameTruth, or I will stab you in the nose. This is basically an offensively-oriented Assault Vest Tentacruel set, and very simple and straightforward. Assault Vest allows Tentacruel to expand its excellent base 120 Sp. Def to even greater levels, allowing it to tank and survive hits from even the strongest special attackers in the UU environment. Scald and Sludge Wave are obligatory STAB options that get surprisingly decent neutral coverage together, while Giga Drain allows Tentacruel to get essential recovery to keep going while also being able to take on bulky waters and/or grounds. Rapid Spin is the preferred fourth moveslot option since this allows Tentacruel to maintain some of its utility and keep your team's side clear of hazards. However, Mirror Coat is a funny as hell move that will guaranteed you one pissed off person per game, provided you bait the hit, which isn't hard, in all honesty. The 16 Speed EVs are to outrun max Speed Adamant Metagross (Obscure benchmark but you don't really have much else worth outpacing that doesn't cost you a cubic ton of speed, considering Tentacruel's already-good-as-is base 100 Speed stat), while the HP and SpD EVs are slashed since you would get identical special bulk if you ran 0 HP / 240 SpD. Having the extra HP at least gives you a bit more bulk on both sides of the defensive spectrum, which is always welcome.

Of course, like any Assault Vest user, you don't just shove this guy into random hits and expect him to live and kill things back in return. It takes execution, and primarily would be used as an offensive pivot of sorts who can sponge a hit, throw one back, and go from there. Most of the Pokemon Tentacruel pivots on are the specially-oriented bulky Water-, Grass-, and Fire-type Pokemon, most of whom it can take hits from and deal back. Now while you can stomach a super-effective move like Thunderbolt from Raikou or something if you're healthy enough, it's highly recommended you avoid doing such, unless you're setting up the Mirror Coat. Which in itself is a one-time surprise since Tentacruel won't be able to do much else after taking too big of a hit, even if it lives. Naturally because of how easy it can be to wear down heedless of Giga Drain, get yourself some Wish support from either Umbreon or Florges. It doesn't matter which one, they both have good synergy with Tentacruel, however, Umbreon + Tentacruel isn't as easily broken by Nidoking. So there's that to consider.

Oh yeah. Clear Body is slashed with Liquid Ooze because they're both incredibly niche abilities overall. The most common stat drop you'll suffer will mainly be from Sticky Web. It could be useful for not getting SpD drops from Shaymin's Seed Flare, though. Liquid Ooze is cool for those stray Leech Seeds you may happen to switch into. Which most of the time will be from SubSeed Shaymin. Either way you slice it, SubSeed Shaymin gets smashed.

Tentacruel
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Poison Jab
- Waterfall
- Knock Off

I built this set in about two minutes as soon as I read who's up for grabs this week. I'll admit it's not the best set at all whatsoever, but I believe it could actually bait in a few large tier threats that don't see this coming.

Sitting at a Base 100 speed, Tentacruel actually outspeeds a lot of major threats with a Jolly nature and 252 in Speed as most of the tier sits either at or below the 100 speed line. As such, it's feasible with Tentacruel's natural bulk to switch in on a resisted hit, eat it, and then boost on their switch. Poison Jab and Waterfall are there for STAB while Knock Off is there for Coverage and a bit of utility.

...this probably isn't going to win this week's best thing, but it's my first set and for that I'm deeply sorry. If anyone can improve this at all, I'd appreciate it.

Anyways, cheers.

- Acid Spray <---Such beauty, give me vote pls
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Giga Drain / Rapid Spin

Ahhhh tremble in fear, offensive tenta is here :]]]]]]]]]] Basically, this set can do it all (not really but it does do 2 important things) 1. Break through things that would normally be switching into SCLAD's 2. Forcing Switches (so i advise pairing this with hazards). Basically Acid Spray acts like a Nasty Plot boost for Tentacruel and really shows that it's Modest (no pun intended, actually Timid) 85 SpA can still cause some real hurting. For the moveset, Acid Spray cause crux of set, Scald over Hydro because i hate missing and after -2, the stuff that's gonna be hit hard by Hydro is going to be hit hard by Scald too and the burn chance helps with utility if Acid Spray shouldn't be used at the time (e.g a Steel type coming in), Ice Beam as it hits all the Grass Types that are likely to try and come in on Tentacruel and Giga Drain / Rapid Spin depending on if you wanna hit some Bulky Waters that could also be coming in on Tentacruel or if your team still needs to Utility of Rapid Spin. Also things like Umbreon and Florges lose 1v1 to Tentacruel as Moonblast does Jack and no atk IVs reduces the damage of Foul Play while Tenta can use that time to heal up via Giga Drain. Now there's no point me harping on about this set without some calcs so without further ado;

252 SpA Tentacruel Ice Beam vs. -2 0 HP / 0 SpD Shaymin: 282-334 (82.6 - 97.9%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tentacruel Ice Beam vs. -2 4 HP / 0 SpD Roserade: 272-322 (103.8 - 122.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Tentacruel Giga Drain vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Slowbro: 284-336 (72 - 85.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tentacruel Giga Drain vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Suicune: 210-248 (51.9 - 61.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tentacruel Giga Drain vs. -2 252 HP / 4 SpD Mega Blastoise: 210-248 (58 - 68.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tentacruel Acid Spray vs. -6 252 HP / 24+ SpD Florges: 234-276 (65 - 76.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tentacruel Ice Beam vs. -2 220 HP / 0 SpD Celebi: 282-334 (71.2 - 84.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tentacruel Scald vs. -2 0 HP / 4 SpD Victini: 378-446 (110.8 - 130.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Tentacruel Ice Beam vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Chesnaught: 360-424 (94.7 - 111.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tentacruel Scald vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Hippowdon: 494-584 (117.6 - 139%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Tentacruel Ice Beam vs. -2 0 HP / 4 SpD Hydreigon: 310-366 (95.3 - 112.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tentacruel Giga Drain vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Vaporeon: 248-292 (53.4 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
(Stock Giga Drain) 252 SpA Tentacruel Giga Drain vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Swampert: 260-308 (64.3 - 76.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tentacruel Scald vs. -2 252 HP / 0 SpD Forretress: 286-337 (80.7 - 95.1%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

So as you can see, Tentacruel with Acid Spray can do quite a lot of damage to opposing teams and one of the best bits about this set is that it does have base 100 Speed which people forget. So the Victini example or the Shaymin example isn't exactly one to not consider since these mons might stay in after being hit by an Acid Spray and risk losing a Speed tie. Granted this mon does require some prediction, if you can make these predictions right then you never know, Offensive Tentacruel might get a kill or something bop :]

Hope you enjoyed the set, shoutouts to -Tsunami- for telling our team tenta is set up bait for Feraligatr before we got smashed by a Giga Drain LOL but yeah use Offensive Tenta cause we new meta up in hur.

Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Venoshock
- Rain Dance
- Giga Drain

So this is basically a toxic staller that takes advantage of it's bulk. Toxic can wear down set-up sweepers, and is just useful all round; Venoshock doubles in power once the target is poisoned, meaning it'll do 130 damage, and acts as the main STAB; Rain Dance can be used with Pokemon like Ludicolo to take advantage of Swift Swim, or can be used to recover HP with Rain Dish; Giga Drain also aids in gaining back HP and can hit Ground-types Super-effectively which is useful because we don't have a Water-type move. Unfortunately Tenta doesn't get recovery, which is why Rain Dance and Giga Drain are helpful, because, (as I said before), it can provide recovery along with Leftovers. Tenta has really nice special bulk, so all EVs are dumped into HP and Defence while the remaining four are put into Special Defence. 0 IVs in Attack to minimize Foul Play damage.

- Toxic Spikes / Sludge Bomb / Toxic (whatever)

Magic coat is really niche, with a bulky wall the best ways of dealing with are statusing it, magic coat is for bouncing back the will-o-wisps and thunderwaves, allowing it to do its job much better. I have also found often slower mons try to set up hazards on it if theyre are about to die (situational, but has helped me before). Other moves are standard, since it has a wide attack movepool, you can put what ever you want as the last move. T spikes are nice to get status, whilst toxic is a more reliable way. Sludge bomb allows you to hit fairies and gives you a secondary STAB (sludge wave is viable for chesnaught), otherwise there is dazzling gleam, knock off, giga drain or ice beam. The best part about magic coat is that its so unexpected and if used correctly, it can greatly hinder the opponent.

I was planning to make a mirror coat set, but its kinda outclassed by milotic, who has more special defence and hp

Ah, the based mega dog killler, LOL. This thing can actually sweep teams if played correctly. Come in on dog's fire breath, slam it with Scald/Surf/Hydro Pump. This can also revenge kill mons like Hydriegon, Magnezone (unless weird av mag), Nidoking, and whatever the hell you want to kill. The move choices are simple. Scald/Surf because I hit Hydro Pumps like a bitch. Surf for more power, and Scald for that burn chance tho. Hydro Pump for #thatpower, and great for late game sweeping. Sludge Bomb/Sludge Wave, STAB either way, your choice, and Giga Drain/Ice Beam for coverage. Ev's are mainly to take dog's +2 Fire Blast decently and sweep if all water resists are out. This thing also walls Florges, as a bonus. 252 SAtk Modest is to hit things with all the force it can, and I put the rest into speed (Cmon it's scarf). Hope you liked it, if you don't GTFO have a nice day n_n Oh, almost forgot calcs, I'm looking uninformed and unprofessional, which i am.
