I'm just trying to get psyched up for it. I don't want to be negative during battles, because then I'll lose. Imprison Bronzong is a nice idea, and I didn't say I'll dominate everyone. I know there will be some good people who I'll either lose to or barely get past.

Of course, I just wouldn't want you to go in thinking its a free win every round because its juniors. There are plenty of solid players in both Junior and Senior divisions, it just seems like most of the Senior winners come from Smogon. It'll be nice to have you representing Smogon in the Junior division though.

I wasn't thinking it was a free round, and I'm happy that I'll be able to represent Smogon in the Juniors Division. Thing is, I need to practice a lot now for this. If I even want a chance at winning I need to start battling on a whole new level.

haha that depends, if he battled me, my Dusknoir would have outsped his Bronzong and Imprisoned his Imprison therefore locking his Bronzong instead =D

It seems interesting to partake in such an event...

Just a few questions, are platinum moves (theoretically) going to be legal?
How are regionals usually sorted out? I don't want to travel to far to take place in something in which I will probably lose. I have little talent for doubles.

yes they will be legal due to the fact that you will be forced, I believe, to use Platinum to be in this event. well last time they just put two sites in which 128 people from each age division (sadly iirc LA only made it to 64 people) and then they took the top 8 from each division and they battled each other in the Showdown against the Japanese. So until they tell us the sites, we don't know where they will take place.

1.I would guess so seeing how it will be out by that time.
2.Last year it was Califonia and New York. This year there should be more, but no promises tho.

If you have little talent for doubles, practice. mom always said practice made perfect and it is true.

well i have couple of questions questions :

my first question does Japan have a Banned list? (EX.Uber/OU/UU/Bl)
how does the japanese metagame work is it more double than singles?
also is the 2009 tourney happening now or is going to happen and vidoes should be out later on?

"If practice makes perfect and nobody's perfect, why practice?"

Lol, but all joking aside, I don't think I am going to make either of those. I just am really too lazy to travel that far but I suppose I can at least make a team...

ahaha HotPocket you beat me to the punch.
er the 2009 tourney can't exactly happen now since... 2009 hasn't happened yet, but the members to participate in this tournament are being selected now...

well... last time it was a random selection to find a group of people who then battled and the top 8 of that group entered the tournament

I don't get this at all. So, they go on the streets like Drug Dealers and ask people if they want to play some Pogeymanz? XD

No. There was an Online Quiz you had to take and you needed i think an 80% to pass. it was multiple choise for questions like what does yache berry do. if more than 128 people passed the test, they would select 128 random people from those who passed.

What was the time limit on battles for the last tournament?

each match had a 15 minute time limit.
Showdown.Pokemon.com said:
When time expires, any games that are still in progress are halted, and players will be required to step away from their DS. Once all attacks and effects of the current turn have resolved, the tournament staff will determine the winner of the match using the following tiebreakers. If a player is choosing a move, the current turn has not started.
Remaining Pokémon
The tournament staff will assess the number of Pokémon that each player has remaining.
  • If one player has more remaining Pokémon, that player wins the match. The losing player is eliminated from the tournament.
  • If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining, the match is tied, and the result of the match is determined by Sudden Death, as described below.
Sudden Death
Players will have up to 3 turns to gain an advantage in number of remaining Pokémon over their opponent. After each turn has completed, the tournament staff will assess the number of Pokémon that each player has remaining.
  • If a player has more remaining Pokémon than his or her opponent at the end of any turn, that player wins the match. The losing player is eliminated from the tournament.
  • If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining at the end of the first or second turn of Sudden Death, the match continues.
If both players have the same number of Pokémon remaining at the end of the third turn of Sudden Death, the match is a tie and both players are eliminated from the tournament.

I don't know if these questions whould go in the simple question thread, I hope i don't get infracted.

Can you use pokemon that are More than level 50?

Why would you get infracted for asking a question about the tournament? zerowing is cool, he doesn't do that.

at least, I hope he doesn't do that. :P

Pokemon are to be between 1 and 50. So nothing higher than lv. 50. I think it mentions the other rules on the front page ;)

To blackblastoise:

Youll have to train your double team to level 50 and then just let them collect dust in the PC to the tournument if you dont want them to go over the limit. At least, thats what I am doing :)

to Ninjadead

Are you refering to the battle tower? Also, your kind of lucky I guess the even though the two most commonly played levels are 50 and 100. 100 being more common due to online wi fi. Kind of boring not being able to really test your strategy unless you do an actual double cup with someone good by you but unfortunately, I am the only one in my whole school that knows how to EV train. Good because im the best in my entire school, bad because everyone else is an uber noob who doesnt know how to EV train
