Mute's Monstrosities

Thanks for the azelf going boom! I love the apocyliptic feel you gave to it

I mean this is simply a wonderful piece of art

oh my good god

i probably f5 spam smeargle's more than any other forum, and i can't believe i've missed three whole pages of this stunning artwork up until now

since you seem eager for requests (i don't like just throwing junk ideas at artists that aren't up for it etc) might i propose a scene? a typhlosion (or another fire pokemon of your choice, i suppose, but he was the first to come to mind given the idea!) amongst the result of a blazing rampage of his. i'm pretty confident you could really bring out the impression of destruction in its environment

might i also advise you to put some of these later pieces in your op? the work in your op is fantastic, don't get me wrong, but latios, articuno and especially so azelf are all brilliantly moving

Oh hey, I managed to miss several pages of this. This is nothing less than I would expect from a friend in the art program. Good job, miss.

Could I possibly make a request? I would like to see a shiny Flygon fluttering low to the ground in a desert during a sandstorm towards a Tyranitar. The Tyranitar should ideally be off frame, but between the light source and the camera, laying his imposing shadow across the sands. The Flygon is showing a dedicated, persevering heart.

since my first request turned out so well could you possibly do a darkrai using dark void. I think your style could really bring out the creepyness i imagine it with

Alright, I'll change mine.
Can you make a Manectric in a thuderstorm/forestfire?
That would be epic.

Heh. Sorry if this wasn't precisely what you requested, but my artistic vision slapped me around until I added the Luxray. X); Anatomy's probably all off in this picture... also whee moar effects practice.

And thanks for all the comments, folks, btw. :3 Sorry about the lack of posted art of late; when that happens, it usually means I've been doing a non-Pokemon image. X)

absolutely brilliant, it has a similar atmosphere to the nidoking in your op (although notably more broody). luxray in particular looks excellent; i wish they had half that much attitude in-game

also approving of the link name, hahaha

What distinguishes your style from that of the other artists here is the awesome integration of the subject pokemon with the backgrounds. Can't wait to see more from you!

New request?

A rainforest.
With pokemon.

On a side note, this thread needs more love, you're an amazing artist with tons of creativity.

Just had to do the Articuno request immediately; s'my favorite legendary and has been since the first generation. x3

badass articuno

Pretty happy with it, though the effects are pretty streaky and smudgy. X); Oh well, practice practice! Quite satisfied with how the 'cuno itself came out, even if I did take stylistic liberties and the image is rough in general. Hope y'all like it.
When I asked for this, I thought it would be good. I had no idea it would become Uber. If I gave it a number rate... 20/10.

New request?

A rainforest.
With pokemon.

Argh, you trying to kill me? X) Complex backgrounds are my bane... well, if I hate myself sometime, I'll give it a shot.

Also, folks, please- DON'T include a previous image of mine in quotes. It just creates unnecessary copies of an image already available elsewhere in the thread and makes loading times longer. Just cut the image part out and provide a link back to the post with the original image, a direct link to the image itself, or indicate what image you're talking about with text (IE: 'that sexy Articuno picture' or whatever.)

Appreciate the commentary, folks. I'll do another request once I finish the non-Pokemon sketch I'm touching up now.

Mutant, you are absolutely killing with this art thread! The stuff you have done with the requests is great work. Your eye for color and overall image composition is amazing. That Articuno was my favorite picture, but the exploding Azelf is the most haunting and powerful. I know you said you just kinda threw it together, but I think that rawness really translated well for the piece. The basic elements of black and white with the lone small subject immersed in silhouette in the middle of all that bursting energy -- Bravo!

Sorry about the lack of updates. X); Been drawing some non-Pokémon stuff. And this update isn't even a request...! So sorry. Hopefully you'll like it anyways.

It's Balkar, the big guy from my initial post, with two of his young descendants. X) I dunno if this picture is BETTER, but it's a bit truer to how I imagine him. All rocky and ancient and mossy and so forth. ...the grass took me so long to do that it's not even funny arrrrgh.

How has no one yet mentioned how amazing this art is, when people are flocking to, uh, much more questionably good art in other threads?

This is pretty sweet.

Though, it looks like the giant one's right... ear...? is larger than its left.

Balkar is fuckin sweet. it reminds of the giant monster things in Shadow of the Colossus (think thats the name). But yeah, verrry goo arts.

Argh, why was my last picture so reviled? :P It only got one comment (Stark's doesn't count since he knows I'd kill him in his sleep if he didn't say anything.). Is it because it isn't a request? o_o; Any insight on what kinda subject matter appeals most here on Smogon would be appreciated. ANYWAYS, requestart tiems.

everything on this thread is fantastic, great job!

edit: after considering the comment below, i thought of hopefully a more suitable request... a kingdra partly out of the water sending down draco meteors on a heavily rainy, stormy night with a zapdos somewhat in the background lighting up the sky and looking up as if it were screeching. could be endless water in the background or maybe mostly shrouded mountains and cliffs or something?

G52uc.jpg

I decided to omit the Draco Meteor part because I figured the picture was 'busy' enough already and some big flaming meteorthings would only clutter it. And yes, I KNOW THE KINGDRA IS OFF MODEL. @_@ I liked it better with two fins so I drew it that way. Bite my artistic license. :E

Oh, and I haven't forgotten the request to make my Azelf picture an avatar- I'm just not sure how to do so! I mean, I know how to resize, but should I crop out a part first? What part? @_@ Never done that before.

I love the kingdra it still has it's cute inoccent look it had as a horsea and yet it's fearsome power! Great job! I also love how you incorporated that zapdos being hit be lighting in the sky and the lost ship. This picture shows the beauty, power, peacefulness and fragality of nature. Kingdra is still calm and is gazing into the stormy night and in awe of zapdos and the sky.
