Hopefully you'll definitely love this one.

Obviously we would edit each other's sprites to keep uniformity. It will be necessary to edit and refine the less experienced spriters works anyway. I also have hardly enough time to do a scratch a week, so it would definitely be a good idea to get everyone's help on this.

I mean, do you think Gamefreak only had 1 or 2 artists do all 493 sprites?
Exactly. Not only will this require months of work from volunteers in order to sprite all of the Pokémon, it will likely take months of editing after that to reach the level of uniformity Gamefreak does. Remember, they hire a team of professional artists who make fewer mistakes to begin with and can readily switch between spriting styles.

Technically, I believe that such an undertaking is possible, but it's going to take more work and time than I can afford to give. Good luck to all working on it.

Raikizen, it's usually a good idea to pixel-over an image larger than the final sprite. Resizing a FR/LG sprite to pixel over is a bad idea.
Try using Sugimori's artworks for pixel-overs; you should bea ble to find high-res ones on the net, and they're clear and easy to pixel over ;)

T-tar Devamp to yellow. Just a practice for the WSC to see if I can get the method down.

1. Traced DP sprite outline with base paint colors.
2. Resized to Yellow dimensions then cleaned up the outline.
3. Put together pallet (not sure how many colors there should be, I used 4)
4. Colored.

Wichu, I'd love to be part of the team for this but it's going to take a lot of organisation.

I suggest we tackle it in the way the whole Smogon Community does with the writing and revamping of the analysis - everyone doing a set number of pokemon separately. For example, I could reserve two pokemon to do whereas a less experienced spriter could only reserve one and more experienced spriters (Canti I'm looking at you) could reserve three or more. This means we could get all of the pokemon done relatively quickly in comparison to odd little bits popping up at random times.

This could probably work in a new topic (since it's a completely different topic to just spriting) but you'd have to have confirmation from Aragornbird, Firestorm or Doomsday first - and then probably state its approval in the OP so that the other mods don't get confused somehow. Then you'd need to PM all of the [reasonable] spriters with the regulations (I.E. size, 150x150 isn't it?) to see if they are interested.

I can see this taking place, hope I helped ;)
P.S. Reserving Wobbuffet and Honchkrow

That's brilliant DarthVader! If you entered that you'd probably win!

But now for the helping part... Why is the head white? Is it the sun reflecting or didn't you mean that?

And also it looks like the right arm (but it's left if you put yourself in its shoes) has a tattoo. But then again, it makes it look awesomely strong and gangsta/popular like it should be.

Wichu read my post up there before this^

Wobbuffet Pixel Over Line Art, is this the sort of size you were looking for Wichu?
EDIT:
WobbuffetPO.png

Can't really get it transparent, doesn't work in Iaza due to white in the tail and photoshop makes dots D:

Hey, im thinking about changing my avatar, so if anybody knows how to draw an Alakapimp, that would be cool

If you're using a white background and wanted to keep the white tail eyes, just color the background a color not found on the sprite, like the Paint prog's generic green or pink.

You have to make sure the shading is smoother; the boundary between the normal and shadow parts has too many straight lines, so doesn't look natural. Unlike what TVboyCanti said, DO NOT trace the shading from the art; shade it from scratch. Artwork does not use the same shading style as in-game sprites. It's best to copy the shading and outlining styles from an actual sprite, but obviously scaled up.
Anyway, other than that, that's a pretty good sprite. A few suggestions:
Make the mouth a bit more jagged. I'm pretty sure its mouth is 'spiky' on the art; you should always refer back to the original art when pixeling over, or you can miss details like that.
The outline colours are a bit inconsistent. For example, the outline of its back 'leg' is hard to see against the tail; that should be black. Again, refer to the sprite to see how the outline was done there; I did that when I was making the Gligar sprite.

I'll take a look at the mouth, but I did actually (attempt to) scratch the shading - I'm just rubbish at it :D

The outlining is actually exactly the same as the in-game sprite.
And of course, I must leave a gift by the rules:

EDIT: Btw Wichu, might I politely suggest the use of paragraphing > indentation?

Whoo! New GDN entries! This brings the GDN to the big 40! Here's to many more brainstraining hours with this dex!

Overall, I'm happy.

WSC:
Week_8_Latios_Devamp8882965877-iaza.gif

sucks. I don't care, I did this never having done a devamp. All I did was recolor.

Don't really want C+C, the main reason I'm posting is I have a question. What is Pokemon Amethyst? I just jumped for the job cus I like pixel overs.
