When one is resetting in Emerald to RNG a pokemon with a two part timer (the first part counts down to soft reset and the second part counts down to the press of 'A'), what is the standard time for the first countdown (the countdown to the SR)?

just pick a time thats comfortable for you i just reset and start the timer at the same time since emerald frames begin to advance the moment you reset the game.

What is Groudon's monster frame in soul silver? Also, will the radio trick advance the frames in his cave?

I would assume it is the same as my Kyogre in Heart Gold (1 like normal), and my Rayquaza for that matter. The radio does work, but frame advancements seem to be tied to either the seed you are on, or the time of day/week. What I basically did, is try to hit my seed, detune either the bottom Left or bottom right X amount of times, then catch Kyogre/Ray and run it through the Reporter to both find what seed I hit and see how far it had advanced it. I just tweaked it from there.

Hope it's not too much posting it here, but here's basically what I did...
Code:
GENERAL PLAN:
Save in room with ray and detune bottom right 29 times. Catch, and use to dertimne seed and advancements.

1) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BR 29 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 1 [/B](try detuning BL instead :P)

2) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 11 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 4/28/38/46 [/B](wasn't saved on BL, probably 38 all useable) RESAVE ON BL STATION!

3) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 11 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 28/30/40[/B] (probably 40)

4) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 11 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 37[/B]???

5) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 12 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 25/43/47[/B] (guess 43)

6) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 11 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 39[/B] (semi consisitent, 11 Detunes = 38-40)

7) Marty @ :15, off at BS, detune BL 10 times, Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 41[/B]???? WHUUUUUUUUUT?!?!

8) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 10 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 13/15/29/37 [/B](gonna guess 37, cuz it's "in range"?)

9) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 10 times[/B], Ray, out, down, SS for seed [B]= F 19/37[/B] (it's 37)

10) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 9 times[/B], Ray for seed[B] = F 13/27/33[/B] (it's 33)

11) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 9 times[/B], SYNCHER!!!, 128 steps w/3, Ray for seed [B]= F maaaany,[/B] but notably 28/34/36/38/46 (<< probably 36)

12) Marty @ :15, off at BS, [B]detune BL 9 times[/B], SYNCHER!!!, 128 steps w/3, Ray for seed [B]= F THE RIGHT ONE![/B] XD ( prolly 36)

Thanks for the detailed response mattj. Just a few more questions, I've been reading this post for info on the radio stuff, but I still don't fully get it. Is detuning a station clicking on the button repeatedly, or is it switching from one station to the one you want? Also, how much does 1 detune advance the frame?

To be honest, if you'll compare the results from the notes I listed above to the info in that post, they do not agree. What I've found while figuring this out myself, is that post is a great General outline, but you can't go off of it word for word. Basically, the advancements listed there don't work "all of the time". HOWEVER, I have found that advancements on any 1 given seed have always been consistent at least for me. Sometimes on one seed the first detune will advance 2, the next 3, the next 2, the next 4, but always in that same order on the same seed.

Here's how I "detune"...
1) Tap your poketch, then tap the radio button so the radio comes up. Seems to work best if you're already saved on the station you're going to "Detune".
2) Use your stylus to CAREFULLY drag the little circle toward the center of the lager circle (not a really good way to describe this without a picture) ONLY UNTIL THE RADIO STATION STOPS PLAYING! Be careful not to drag it to far to the left, right, up or down cuz it might drag "into" another station which will screw up your advancements. Just drag it till it stops playing the music.
3) Tap the station it was on before.
4) Wash Rinse and Repeat. :P

Also: try to do step 2 as quickly as possible. The RNG advances as the radio script plays, so you want to try it before it gets called again.

Is there any way to manipulate the time finder for a shiny egg if you're using international parents? The coin flips throw things off since the taps and shit are different when you use international parents, and atm I'm sweet scenting and catching stuff to verify my delay...

Finally!

Raikou
Timid

PS does anyone know why in HG/SS steps do not advance the frame consistently? When RNG'ing Raikou, the frame would jump by 2 or even three/four sometimes.

Are you using the Shiny Egg tab, or the DPP Breeding option? Sorry I forget the exact names off the top of my head. Anyway, if you're using the first option, do you have the correct times? How many pokemon are in your party before depositing them in the daycare? Is either parent an international pokemon?

DPPt Egg PID (normal) with shiny box checked, then DPPt seed finder.

I don't know "why" but I can confirm that's the case by my own experience. Turning in place is the exact same way. When doing mewtwo recently, I took 2 steps forward through wild pokes (with repel on) and it was on frame 1 T_T

I am getting ready to add Help files to JavaRNG and PikaTimer, and would like to ask if something such as the guides (found here) with a reference to this thread would be sufficient, or if something more would be useful.

Thanks in advance!

btw, nice catch mtsilverchampion.

When I got the initial seed of the Groudon I caught and found it in the generated list, there were multiple results with the exact same ivs. However, they all had the same "actual frame" but different "frames". What data do I look at to determine how to adjust my frame advancement for next time?

I don't know how other people do it, but I just make an educated guess. If you go back and look at the data I posted, I did 11 detunes the first few times and got kind of an average of how far that advanced me, which was 40ish (different seeds gave different advancements). My target frame was 36 (there were more, but that was closest to 40ish), so I backed it off to 10 detunes and my "average" went down to 37 ish. So then I dropped it down to 9 and my average dropped down to 33ish. I then did 9 with 128 steps with 3 pokes in my party, hit my seed and hit my target frame (36).

Guess and check. That's as good as I can figure it out. :/

I am surprised it makes a difference, to be honest, and I'd have to personally verify it before I believe it made any difference to coin flips.

BUT -- why not just put the parents into the daycare after you do all flips/taps?

I'm pretty sure it makes no difference in coin flips. Nearly all my breeds are the offspring of Syberia's Japanese Ditto, and I've never had any problems.

I have my first of two updates planned for the break to announce- PikaTimer 2.0! Download it here!

The full guide is here, so I'll just go over the basics.

Improvements:
- The "Zero Second Glitch" is fixed. In other words, you can now put 0 in for your wanted second.
- Typing in your own values for the timer now works, it didn't before.

New Features:
- EMERALD MODE!!! You can now enter a pre-reset countdown (or 0), your desired frame, and your calibrated time, and a timer will be created. If you are calibrating, simply type in the frame you do hit into the "Other Frame" box and click update. After 3 - 4 times, you will be looking at your calibration time in the "Calibrated Time" box.
- The "Help" Button brings up the guide for whichever mode you are in.

That about sums it up. Let me know what you guys think!

If you walked on the stairs sometimes, then that can be the problem, because the stairs is acting very weird. I had trouble to, untill I found out that the stairs was causing the trouble.

1. How can that be the case? I was using Kazo's program(done on an emulator) and the frame would jump on the flat terrain, I do not think it was the staircases fault.

2. Can someone please answer if the red gyrados respawns after the elite 4, if you faint it?

3. Forget about that Raikou, I am going to do it again since the hidden power was dark 70, now I will try for dragon 70. Why sacrifice one point of sp atk for hidden power grass & hp fighting requires a number of stats to be 30 in IVs?

In Emerald, I've been getting alternate breeding frames all day. I finally hit the frame I wanted.... But it was an Alternate Breeding frame!!! What the hell??!

So do I have to wait until tomorrow so I can have regular frames?

no the day you do this on will not change the frames you get there really is no way of controlling whether you get an alternate frame or not you just have to keep trying

Hello

I am thinking that I will try for a jolly Red Gyarados in HG/SS (not breeding) but first there are 2 things I must ask:

1. Is there a flawless jolly spead (31/31/31/31/31/31)
2. If I use dragon dance, does that mean on a Jolly Gyarados with 252 evs in atk & speed that after dragon dance the attack would be equal to 524?
