Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Well I tested myself in getting a wild shiny. And it usually takes me 2-3 tries to get it, but I can. But when I start going for specific IVs I never hit the delay. Pikatimer settings are the same, 600 and 14 calibrated. Though it feels like the delay I get changes. I'll spam A to get through the screens and still get different delays. Is that just luck? Should I just keep doing that until I hit the right delay? That's what worked previously, but I dont know how Id hit any delay over 610.

no, it's not luck it's a matter of getting the grip of it with the timer settings that suit you best
Hitting higher delays (for example, for a calibrated delay of 600, a delay of 630 or 650) might actually be easier, you just spam A until you get to the continue screen and wait for the timer to end to press A one last time. You might have to reach very high delays (like over 2000) if you want to hit some spreads, so getting used to your timer (and beeps if you're a hearing kind of guy) is kinda necessary

@Miilanda,
We'd need more information on Seed, Frame, Date, Time, Synchroniser, etc. In order to answer why you saw Poliwag instead of Remoraid.

Nevermind. When I was checking which frame I hitted I saw my mistake. :') I did look at the Sweet Scent (Grass/Cave) instead of Fishing (Good/Super Rod). :') I think that's what I did wrong. Stupid me.. Though thanks anyway. ^^

Ive been doing this about 30-40 times. And if nothing else Im getting consistent results.

I'll either hit +1 or -1 second. and I'll always hit -5 or +10 delay. In those ranges.
Advice? I have yet to hit the delay and second one time.
Im trying to hit a delay of 867. Figure if I can hit something that requires me to wait a tiny bit before hitting continue, I can hit the higher ones as well. No luck so far.

Edit: Been at this for about 7 hours with no results. >.>
That's just today too. I dont know how you guys do it ; )

Hi, guys, I can't found a flawless spread for pokemon emerald, (expecially timid or modest), does anyone know if is possible to get this spread on emerald?

Not to plug my own stuff here but I think this timer will benefit you. It will at least get rid of your +/- seconds problem. I think you'll hit a little more consistently on your delay too.

Yea. I also use Toast's timer. I like how it beeps the countdown, plus with little tweaks for my inputs, I hit my seeds almost all the time, if not a + or - 2 delay.
*PikaTimer is also useful for hitting seeds. I just have some beep preferences.

Looking to catch a couple of Ditto's in the trophy garden using Sweet Scent - Method J

Just needed to clarify the process as it's been awhile, since I've done this:

1. Talk to the guy untill Ditto is the Pokemon of the day
2. Change the date/time to new pokemon of the day
3. Then proceed to use the spread with encounter slot 7

Just double checking that's the right procedure.

Cresselia Issues...

I'm now trying for my first shiny spread in Platinum. It is, as the title of the message implies, a Cresselia.

The frame I am trying to hit is 979. I know that the method for Cresselia is:

(Frame-roamers-legend)/2=journal flips. So,

(979-0-5)/2=487

When I verify that I have hit my seed,(ten coin flips), and then I perform the 487 journal flips I ALWAYS land on frame 961 (478 journal flips). I have tested this multiple times now and I count my journal flips in sets of 20 so I know I am counting right.

Is there something I am missing when I RNG Cresselia? Also, I am saved right in front of Cresselia so it isn't that I have generated her nature/IVs already or something.

For the seed you gave me, I don't see a worthwhile spread/nature for a Cresselia on method 1 on frame 979, which leads me to think perhaps you're on the wrong method.

Edit: Also, do yourself a big favour and try to generate a seed with your target IV spread with a higher delay and a lower frame. Use PokeRNG at delay settings of 1000 to 1500, then 1500 to 2000, and onward. I'm sure you can find that spread on another delay with a much lower frame.

Why are you searching for that spread on method 1? It is method J. The delay isn't a problem because I can hit the delay just fine. I told you that. I am just hitting the wrong frame. I have hit a frame of 2800 already with the heatran I caught the other day so the fact that the frame is 979 isn't an issue for me. I just want to know why it wasn't working. Also, it was a Bold Cresselia and I have a synchronizer as well...

Wrong method. It's very easy to look up.

Edit: I never said you had trouble with delays, I told you to do yourself a favour and find the same spread with a lower frame. I would never bother with a frame of 2800 plus on DPPt. I'd find the same spread with a lower frame. I don't like wasting time.

It's all about resources dear. I am only landing on even delays and I don't have a 3rd gen game. Hence why I have to sometimes do high frames. Also, I already said I am going for a shiny spread and it is the ONLY one that I can do for a Bold Cresselia with decent IVs...29/17/29/30/31/31.

Thank for for pointing out that it was method 1 though. That only moves the frame up to 1056 which is still very doable. It only takes me about 5-10 minutes to journal flip to the right frame after hitting my delay anyways...much quicker than HG/SS in my opinion. I will try for the correct frame and get back to you guys with the results!!! ^_^ Thank you for the clarification.

...Why don't you change the year to switch an odd delay to an even one? Does that not work on DPPt?

Lol...I don't know, I suppose I could try it but I don't really care. The frames don't bother me and I do like to have the correct year that I catch a Pokemon. I am about to re-attempt it anyways.

Edit: And here she is!!!

I was thinking to RNG the in-game trade Pokemon, such as Jasmine's Steelix. Are they RNG'd using Method 1 and is their Monster Frame 1 as well?

Alright, so, I've been RNG'ing for awhile and I made my first big mistake today (as in, since I've been RNG'ing). I wanted a frame of 17, called 16, picked up the egg, found that the frame had been advanced to 19. Now, there was quite a substantial pause after my third call (although I stayed in Pokegear) between that call and the next (I was away from RNG Reporter to verify my delay was hit). Could that have been the reason for advancement?

I don't believe it advances while you're in the Pokegear. You probably just started a few frames in. Or is it possible you just lost count? I do it all the time -_-

@Miku: I'm not sure. Has anyone really messed with it?

What could've been some of the reasons for me starting a few frames in? I rejected the first egg on my shiny RNG. What are some average reasons for "starting a few frames in?"

I'm pissed because I saved it so I could hatch in a location I wanted and stuff so I just wasted an RNG :(

Meh. You don't actually start a few frames in but that's the effect. It's that NPC. I don't know why it sometimes advances it more than it should. I've started on frame 4 a couple of times and I don't really have an explanation for it. My normal starting frame is 2 or 3. I almost never get 1. I don't think that's the way it's supposed to be. My advice to you use record the position of the first response you get. This is the frame you start on.

sorry for noobishness but what's "record the position of the first response you get" I RNG on SoulSilver.

Haha.. I wouldn't really call it noobishness. I just kinda figure my own stuff out sooo.. it's not weird that you don't know what I'm talking about.

Example:
Target: P,P,P,K,E,K,E,P,K,K,E
What you get: P,K,E,K,E,P,K,K,E

This means your starting frame is 3 because the starting P is the 3rd in the set.
