Challenge The Scramble Challange

Bug catching contest on tuesdays, thursdays and saturdays iirc is the only way. (you can change the date to get the bug catching contest btw) Also 100th POST WOOT.

Vratix, I'll be nice and let you count Crunch since it's close enough if that's acceptable. Obviously you can't SOLO Tate and Liza, but you get the point.

Actually, Tate And Liza's Pokemon are both rock type so dig also counts for that.

However, I will change the Pokemon again if that isn't ok with you :P
This is more than acceptable. I was just worried about the whole "learn as it evolves thing" but this is great. Also, soloing Tate and Liza will probably be way easier than soloing Drake so thank you for that also.

I didn't consider them because I assumed you meant the type of the gym rather than any type the pokemon happened to share.

Heh, guys, you're all going to hate me for this, but i just epically failed today.

I went on the plane with my old DS, and my Leafgreen. I then went to start my Leaf Green again, thinking "Meh, doesn't matter if i lose Leaf the Ivysaur". Then, i turned on my iPod to check Smogon for teh challenges, as i'd naively forgotten to write them down.

Except i'd forgotten one thing: There's no internet on a plane!!! :( So i had to go 8 hours (well, 7 and a half), without restarting my Leafgreen, and therefore nothing to do, because i had totally no idea what my challenges were! Dammit. lol

Oh well, i'll complete it sooner or later, i just thought you guys might get a good laugh out of this. ;)
Schadenfreude tells me to laugh at your misfortune but I would have just told you to take a nap.
Glad your flight went well, now GET ON THAT SCRAMBLE YOU MAGGOT.

SCHAAAAADENFREUDE

PEOPLE TAKING PLEASURE IN YOUR PAIN

but in all honesty that sucks pretty bad. :B Start your scramble though, you might be able to finish your LeafGreen before I finish FireRed.

Yesterday I felt like playing Red after finding it after about a year of it being gone and I noticed I was stuck in Silph Co. (I'm stuck there in FireRed). But I got through it successfully. So with that confidence boost I'm off to play FireRed. :B

I'm gonna pull a Random and start making a queue of challenges. I'm about halfway done my FR challenge and a quarter done my HG challenge, considering I'll probably do all of Kanto too. So, here we go for the next two challenges.

The basis is the same for both. I want 6 Pokemon, omits to follow, but we'll be doing things a little differently. I want each Pokemon given to me to have a restriction for gender, nature and ability (if possible). These can be whatever you want. The goal is to have the most variable challenge in the history of the Scramble thread!

For example:
Dex, take a Rattata.
If it is male, it must solo Falkner. If it is Female, it may not be used in gym battles.
If it has a +Atk nature, it may only know attacking moves.
If it has a +Def nature, it must know Toxic
It it has a +Sp Atk nature, it may only use special attacking moves
If it has a +Sp Def nature, it must know Endeavor
If it has a +Speed nature, it must know Quick Attack.
It its ability is Guts, it must know Facade
It its ability is Run Away, it must run from every wild Pokemon

Nobody give me that example, its just a reference. I also cannot trade.

HG
I can trade to evolve
I don't necesarrily need a starter, but if I don't get one, I need at least one Pokemon for Falkner.
Pokemon I won't accept (and evo's): Totodile, Hoothoot, Chinchou, Rhyhorn, Oddish, Dunsparce
Everything must be possible to be fully evolved by the Elite 4

FR
Cannot trade at all
Everything must be possible to be fully evolved by the Elite 4
Again, don't need a starter, but that limits what I can accept as you will see soon. Need at least one before Brock.
Pokemon (and evo's) I won't accept: Bulbasaur, Rattata, Pidgey, Mankey, Ekans, Venonat

Let's see what you guys can come up with!

@dex i'll reserve for both if you'll allow it, or just hg if not.
EDIT: For HG, catch a smeargle (ruins of alph, need surf, enter from union cave.) if it's male give it a move starting with M, if female F. It must also learn 1 move that starts with the same letter as its nature. Since you need a couple more moves if it has technician give it a move =60 bp and if it has own tempo give it a move that causes confusion (either to itself eg. outrage or to the target eg. confuse ray). Finally it looks like you need 1 last move so catch an unown, determine its hp type, that's the type of its last move. Oh and name it "Alpha Soup".
Recap.
-Smeargle named "Alpha soup"
-Male = move starting with M, female = F.
-Move starts with same letter as nature.
-If tech bp =60, if tempo move that causes confusion.
-Catch unown, hp = type of last move.
Good luck. EDIT: Just to be clear 1 move can only fill 1 requirement, eg. if you get a modest male with tech, teaching it magical leaf would only fill 1 requirement.

EDIT:2 For FR, nidoran, not sure if you can catch it before brock or not but if you can, if male solo brock without any items, if female solo brock, items allowed. The rest is regardless of whether or not you can get it before brock. If male it must poison 5 pokemon with poison point to evolve into nidorino, if female only 1 has to be poisoned but it must be owned by a trainer.
To evolve into nidoking/queen if male must solo 20 pokemon that evolve with the moon stone (only pokemon the moon stone can be used on so nidorans don't count), if female it only has to solo 10 but atleast 1 must be owned by a trainer. After evolving into king/queen if it has a +attack nature it may not use special attacks, +spatk no physical attacks, +def/spdef only 1 attack of your choice, +speed 2phys 2spec attacks and finally if it's neutral it is not allowed to learn any stab moves.
Recap.
-Nidoran.
-If you can catch it before brock solo brock.
-Activate poison point to evolve.
-Solo pokemon that evolve with moon stone to evolve again.
-Nature determines what moves it can learn.
Good luck with both of your challanges.

Reserving a spot for Dex. It's gonna be a looooooooong Rattata for HeartGold.

Any Rattata must be the third Pokemon you encounter on a route or area. If you encounter an earlier Rattata, you may not catch Rattata on that route. Once it evolves, it cannot learn any moves that Rattata can also learn. If it is holding a Chilan Berry, it may have ONE move of your choice over any listed move unless the place has a * by it.

If you catch it on...
Route 29 - It must know Tackle, Endeavor, Rain Dance and Thunder.
32 - It must know Swords Dance, Grass Knot, Tackle, and Bite.
33 - It must know Sunny Day, Rain Dance, Dig and Super Fang.
34 - It must know Pluck, Super Fang, Headbutt and Iron Tail and must solo the Ice gym.
38 - It can only know Electric-type moves and Rain Dance.
39 - It must know Sucker Punch, Protect, Thunder, and Return.
46 - It must know U-turn, Sucker Punch, Shock Wave, and Shadow Ball.
Sprout Tower (Night only) - It must win 20 Pokethlons and must know Endeavor, Toxic, Headbutt and Protect.
*Union Cave or Tohjo Falls- Since Rattata are so rare here, it only needs to know Charge Beam and Hidden Power. Other moves are at your discretion.
Bell Tower - You may not catch it here until you have all 16 badges. Other than that it is fair game.
bold here since underline would be messy *Burned Tower - You must catch a female Rattata that you cannot use, and breed Flame Wheel and Bite onto a baby from a Growlithe. This must be done on the game you are Scrambling. It must solo the Ice gym and one other gym, under the following conditions:
--If neutral natured, the baby must solo Morty alone.
--If +SpA or -Atk natured, you may choose what gym to solo besides Ice.
--If +Atk natured, it must solo the Fighting gym. Tough shit.
--If its nature boosts a defense, it must solo Jasmine.
--If +Spd natured, it must solo the Dragon gym.

Safari Zone - You may not catch a Rattata here.
Route 1 - It must know only Dark moves and must defeat ten Fighting-type Pokemon.
3 - It must know Natural Gift, Grass Knot, Thunderbolt and Tackle, and must have a -SpA nature. No holding Berries either.
4 - It must know Thunder, Sunny Day, Swords Dance and Bite.
7 - It must know Return, Sucker Punch, Rain Dance and Sunny Day, but may not attack the opponent until it consumes an item each battle.
9 - It must know three Special moves and Headbutt.
11 - It cannot learn attacking moves.
22 - It can learn whatever the fuck you want it to learn but must hold a Macho Brace.

If you find a shiny Rattata, by all means catch it and use it, no restrictions. No RNGing it though.

There ya go.

@Dexington; Let's get dangerous, then. Reserved, but you're probably not gonna like it.

Take the first bug you see (Weedle or Caterpie). If you catch one in whichever Challenge you start with, you must use the other. Ex. Catch Caterpie in HG, must use Weedle in FR or vice versa.

For both Species, as Metapod/Kakuna;
If it is Male, it must use Harden, then String Shot on 15 Females to evolve. Does not have to KO them.
If it is Female, it must survive 15 hits from a single pokemon without using potions.

For Butterfree;
+Atk Nature - Must learn and keep both STABs and one other Physical move.
+Def Nature - Must know and keep 2 Powder moves, and use them to Sleep, then Para/Poison a single Pokemon to 5 different Pokemon.
+SpAtk Nature - It's only attacking moves must recover health. Other moves (those that don't deal damage directly) may still be used.
+SpDef Nature - Must face the strongest Pokemon of all the Special Gyms. It need not survive the ordeal.
+Spd Nature - Must know moves starting with "S". And yes, I ran out of ideas.

For Beedrill;
+Atk Nature - Must always be at +1 Attack or higher before attacking. X Attack, Baton Passed Boost or Sword Dance.
+Def Nature - Must Poison 5 Pokemon with Poison Sting and/or Twineedle.
+SpAtk Nature - It's only use attacking moves must be currently Special or become Special next gen.
SpDef Nature - Must know Protect and use it twice in a row on 5 different occasions or 3 times in a row once.
Spd Nature - Must know and keep Agility, and use it to get to +4 3 times.

Have fun, and good luck! =]

Dexington, For your Heart Gold, I'll give you a variable Pokemon (Nothing can get more variable than that)...

After you obtain your 6th Badge, you must catch the first wild Pokemon you encounter. No SR's unless you encounter a Pokemon that is part of the scramble or if it's Raikou/Entei. The restrictions depend on the amount of experience it needs to get to Lv100 & Gender...

Exp at Lv100/Gender

  • 800,000/Male: Only one attacking move initially, can gain an extra attacking move slot if it does either of the following: Solo Petrel (The dude with the Koffings & Weezing) at the Radio Tower, Solo the Blackthorn Gym excluding Clair, & Solo all the Trainers on Route 27.
  • 800,000/Female: The Pokemon may only know moves that receive STAB...
  • 800,000/Genderless (If there is any): Lucky you, no restrictions.
  • 1,000,000/Male: Must know & keep Hidden Power if possible & use it every time it enters battle without hesitation. Otherwise, must hold a Cheri Berry to fight.
  • 1,000,000/Female: Must know & keep Attract if possible & use it everytime it enters the battle without hesitation, only if the opponent is Male. Otherwise, must hold a Pecha Berry to fight.
  • 1,000,000/Genderless: Only One attacking move & it may not be STAB
  • 1,059,860/Male: No STAB moves.
  • 1,059,860/Female: Cannot go above Lv40 when fighting the E4.
  • 1,059,860/Genderless: Must hold an Aspear Berry to fight & must solo Pryce to evolve if it has evolutions.
  • 1,250,000/Male: The Pokemon is a Nuzlocke with three lives, no continues. If it loses all its lives, it dies & may not be replaced, It gains a life for every Gym Leader you defeat.
  • 1,250,000/Female: Must hold a Rawst Berry to fight.
  • 1,250,000/Genderless: Must hold a Chesto Berry to fight. No STAB Moves.
There is no Gen I & Gen II Pokemon with Exp at Lv100 levels of 600,000 & 1,640,000. Name whatever you get Random.

Have fun.

For Fire Red, you get Atheno the Lapras. Your Lapras has a variable moveset, where its nature determines 2 of its moves, while its Gender & Ability determines 1 move each. It must have this moveset by the E4.

Nature...
Neutral: Body Slam & Thunder
+Attack: Thunderbolt
-Attack: Psychic
+Defence: Shock Wave
-Defence: Rock Smash
+Sp. Attack: Ice Beam
-Sp. Attack: Hydro Pump
+Sp. Defence: Secret Power
-Sp. Defence: Surf
+Speed: Return
-Speed: Hyper Beam

Gender...
Male: Roar
Female: Attract

Ability...
Shell Armour: Mist
Water Absorb: Rain Dance

Have fun.

You copycat...=P

For HG, your starter is Cyndaquil. You may SR for a gender three times. It must have its final moveset by the time you beat Erika.

If it is female, it may evolve after you teach it Attract (and keep it forever) and may evolve again after you teach it Dig (and keep it forever), because it's a girly girl and doesn't want to fight. Name it Chelsea.

If it is male, it may evolve after you teach it Flame Wheel (and keep it forever) and may evolve again after you teach it Earthquake (and keep it forever), because it's a manly man and loves violence. Name it Brad.

If its nature is:
+Atk: it must learn and keep either Quick Attack or Headbutt forever.
+Def: it must learn and keep Roar forever.
+SpA: it must learn and keep Hidden Power forever.
+SpD: it must learn and keep Smokescreen forever.
+Spd: It must learn and keep SolarBeam forever.

-Atk: it must learn and keep Protect forever.
-Def: it must learn and keep Return forever.
-SpA: it must learn and keep Toxic forever.
-SpD: it must learn and keep Focus Punch forever.
-Spd: it must learn and keep Hyper Beam forever.
Neutral: Congrats! Its last two moves must be chosen off the above lists (one from each list).

For FireRed, your starter will be Squirtle. You may SR for a gender three times.

If it is male, it may ATTACK no more than ten Gym Leader Pokemon the entire duration of the game. Name it J. Bieber. If it is female, it must KO no fewer than fifteen Gym Leader Pokemon the entire duration of the game. Name it H. Montana.

If its nature begins with a letter earlier in the alphabet than M (including M), it may never know more than two attacking moves at a time. If its nature begins with a letter later in the alphabet than M (excluding M), it may only use a special attack on Pokemon that resists that move's type.

No more normal types please for HG. Also I reserve the right to make Random's not normal typed.

But looks good so far guys, keep em coming :D

Oh and Random, 12500000/Female breaks my rules. Everything must be evolvable.

1,250,000/Female: Cannot evolve if it has evolutions, otherwise, must hold a Rawst Berry to fight.

This could be taken to mean that it has to hold a Rawst berry if it evolves. The sentence still makes sense.

Anyway, for FR you get a Snorlax. I will need to edit in the restrictioins because they will be long.

Oh and Random, 12500000/Female breaks my rules. Everything must be evolvable.
Changed it to just holding a Rawst Berry to fight, want any more restrictions for that particular part, tell me. Editing in Fire Red as I speak.

EDIT: It's in now, enjoy your Lapras.

Right, your Snorlax:

If it is male, it must always hold a chesto berry
If it is female, it must never hold an item.

If it is a +Att./+SpAtt. nature, it must never have attacks of greater than 79 base power.
If it is a +Def./SpDef. nature, it must never have health-restoring moves.
If it is a +Spd. nature, it must know Focus Punch

If you catch the Eastern Snorlax, he must be called Kanto
If you catch the Western Snorlax, he must be called Johto

If, when you catch it, its SpAtt > Def, it must have, at most, one physical attack.
If its Def > SpAtt, it must have no Special attacks.

Regardless, it must know Amnesia

Dex, did you reserve a spot for both for me? If so, give one of them to Detroit.

Alright, Lolcat you can have a FR spot. Biggie you get the HG.

So far, the teams are

HG
Cyndaquil
Smeargle
Rattata
Beedrill (making an executive decision, havent used him in HG before)
Variable
Whatever Biggie gives me (preferably water)

FR
Snorlax
Squirtle
Nidoran
Caterpie
Lapras
Whatever Lolcat gives me

Gender, nature, and ability, huh? Let's see what Lolcat can come up with...

Take a Psyduck. It must be the first Psyduck you see.
If it is female, it must only know one water type move. If it is male, it must know three (and only three) water type moves at all times.
If it is Damp, it must solo every wild Graveler you see. If it is Cloud Nine, it must solo Blaine.

Here's the creative bit. A different restriction for each ability. IN PROGRESS.

Adamant: It cannot switch out except between Pokemon.
Bashful: It may not learn moves of above 80 base power. Waterfall is OK.
Bold: It must solo Moltres atop Mt. Ember
Brave: It must solo Zapdos in the Power Plant
Calm: It must have an item used on it in EVERY Trainer battle it is used in.
Careful: It must learn Double Team, and use it once in EVERY Trainer battle it is in.
Docile: No further restrictions.
Gentle: It may not land the finishing blow on more than two Pokemon per Trainer. Ignore this requirement if you must solo Blaine.
Hardy: Solo Giovanni. Either time works.
Hasty: Do not exceed Level 50 (ouch if you get this one)
Impish: You may not use it against Bruno
Jolly: You must kill one Pokemon from each Elite Four with it.
Lax: You may not use it against Giovanni. Both times.
Lonely: Solo Bruno with it.
Mild: It may not learn Surf or Psychic
Modest: do not use it in three of the Elite Four
Naive: Send it out against every one of Lance's Dragons, and land at least two hits on all of them
Naughty: It must faint in each E4 battle, then get revived between them.
Quiet: Do not kill more than one Pokemon with it per Trainer battle. Ignore this against Blaine if you must solo him.
Quirky: May not exceed level 55
Rash: May not be used until after defeating Sabrina. Have fun grinding.
Relaxed: Do not use it in Gym Battles. E4 Battles are OK.
Sassy: Know all special attacks.
Serious: Ignore every restriction on this Pokemon. Congrats if you get this one.
Timid: It may not attack wild Pokemon. Ignore this requirement against Gravelers if you are Damp.

Where's the variability, man!? I love Psyduck, so please keep that part, but take a look at my original challenge post on the previous page :P
