ASM Nightblade General Thread and Trainer Profile Registration -Under Revision

RP Name: Gelu
Trainer Class: Scientist
Hometown: Pacifidlog Town
Personality: Growing up in a town that primitive you'd think no one would become a scientist, well you were wrong. Since being little he disliked the general feel of the town, but kept his mouth as long he had something to think about. The flood protection system, water-proof houses, forecast machines beating those at the weather research lab and even discovering the secret of mirage island, he did all those things in hope of changing his town, in his opinion for the better. Alas even though everyone was grateful for his work, no one wanted the bigger changes to happen, they wanted to keep their town as it is. Gelu would argue again and again, but soon people started ignoring his ideas, even though some of those would have protected the town. When he realised that it's pointless he returned to his old work, but at that point people thought he had just turned crazy, no one of his ideas were ever accepted and people began distancing themselves from him. This days he rarely lives his house(made from ultra light not oxidising metal) but sounds of tinkering can always be heard from his house, to be specific could be heard, as recently they've stopped. No one bothered to check if he was fine, no one cared, but in truth he was perfectly fine and ready...

He is hard to convince that his logic is wrong, and will never give up on trying to convince others(he thinks that him giving up arguing is what led to his situation in the town). Due to his past he doesn't trust people easily, even those who he thinks are trustworthy, because those could also trust the wrong people. If he can't solve something just by thinking, he starts thinking about what could, which generally wastes a lot of time, sometimes not even noticing the problem may have already solved itself. He is also the type who regrets what ever he does, since he will always come up with better and better plans the more he thinks about them, which sadly come too late most of the time. He is also easy to get excited and always wants to be where something is happening , he can't stand missing out on something, which sadly happens a lot. His specialty is causing internal disputes within a group or making two enemies fight each other and not him.(Rediamond knows this well eh?) While he can control his enemies well, working together with his teammates is harder, since he hardly trusts them.

THIS HAS MAFIA IN IT, NO WAY IN HELL I WOULDN'T JOIN!

Name: Athenodoros
Trainer Class: Veteran
Hometown: Pumello Island

Personality: Athenodoros grew up in the small Pumello Island, a long time ago: before tourists started to flock there for the finals of the Orange League. At that time, Pokemon training was different, as he is fond of reminging everyone now: a trainer couldn't go to the nearest genius and ask for their first Pokemon and it wasn't something that everyone did automatically at the age of 10. In fact, Athenodoros never planned to become a trainer, until one fateful day when he was down at the water and he was ambushed by a Kingler. It looked bad, when suddenly a young Lapras, lost and brought to the shore, jumped out and saved him, although it was badly hurt in the process. From then, Athenodoros nursed Lapras back to health and they have been inseperable every since. After he brought Lapras back to full health, Athenodoros then travelled the world, collecting badges and expanding his team, before eventually he settled back down to Pumello Island with his Lapras, ready for a quiet life back home. Now, however, he has been pulled out of this psuedo-retirement by the oncoming conflict, and is ready to bring all of his many years of experience fighting with Typhon the Lapras to the table.

Despite his age, however, Athenodoros still bears the hallmarks of one of the great trainers of his or any other generation: a keenness of mind that held him in good stead against trainers of his day has not deserted him in his old age, and he has kept his training up in solitude on the island. Aside from this, Athenodoros is easygoing, friendly and dryly good-humoured, with a witty remark or sage piece of advice for any occasion. He is eternally optimistic and generous, but after a long life he is wary of new people and has been known to be quite suspicious. Nonetheless, he generally gets on well with new people, and leaves a good impression.

RP Name: Bob
Trainer Class: Pokemaniac
Hometown: Goldenrod City (Johto)
Basic Personality: Bob is at his best when he has time to think. If he's on a mission, he is capable of devising a (supposedly flawless) plan of accomplishing it, and then he does everything in his power to see it through to the end. Bob has come to expect that some kind of unexpected event will happen on the way, but if it's not one that he has a way of handling, he usually takes a long time to act, makes stupid decisions, tries to run away from the situation or turns hostile.

There isn't really anyone Bob could consider a friend, but he would rather keep himself to himself, spending his days trying to accumulate as much knowledge about pokemon as possible. In particular, he enjoys finding out what it is about specific pokemon that makes them more or less desirable to battle with or against. When not hoarding information about pokemon, Bob likes to watch cartoons and play video games. His favourite game is, oddly enough, a pokemon battle simulator (although said simulator is not entirely accurate).

Bob's lack of interaction with other people has had two effects that almost seem contradictory. He gets apprehensive when directly interacting with other people, but at the same time his lack of understanding of people's behaviour makes him more susceptible to guile and trickery from them. If he finds out that he has been deceived, however, he will make it his mission to exact retributive justice on the offender.

RP Name: Oswald
Trainer Class: Veteran
Hometown: Kin Island (Three Island Port)
Basic Personality: Oswald grew up in Olivine City in the Johto region. He lived with his father and never really knew his mother. Around the time that he turned 13, his father had gotten a promotion, but his new job required him and had to the Sinnoh region. However, Oswald liked his home in Johto, so decided to go out on a trainers journey rather than move with his father. He had never really had much experience with battling, but during the early years of his life he had spent much time in the woods to the north, and got along well with the wild Pokemon. So, when he started his quest, many of the skills of a trainer seemed to come naturally to him.

But unlike many trainers, Oswald never really was interested in collecting badges. When he came across a gym, he might challenge it, but it he wouldn't go out of his way to seek them out. Unfortunately, due to his lack of time spent in civilized places, his social skills never really developed, and he could never communicate as well with people as with Pokemon.

But after a few years, Oswald developed an urge to prove himself. To show that his journey has been worthwhile. He began competing in battle competitions, and while he never won any, would always preform very well. He performances never earned him any fans, but got him the respect of his fellow trainers. Yet the social awkwardness he had developed never really went away, and he would never stick around to hear the praises of his peers.

As he got older, he continued his journey, seeing almost every feature of both the Johto and Kanto regions. In his older age, he began to see himself in young trainers, and would offer advice to them, or scold young trainers who he believed to be foolish. His communication with other adults however, never really developed so well, and even as an old man, he never really have a good relationship with any of the people he knew.

Eventually, his age began to catch up to him, and he was no longer able to adventure like he once could. He decided to retire from the traveling he had always known, and took up residence in a house near the edge of Three Island Port in the Sevii Islands. But some things about a man never change, and while he hasn't really done any adventuring since settling down, you will still be more likely to find him playing with his Pokemon over in Berry Forest then anywhere else. Even his own house.

(I have never done anything like this before [to be honest, I don't even fully understand it], and Role Playing is not usually my forte, so I hope this works out well)

Good Day.

Name: Harold
Trainer CLass: Gentleman
Hometown: Chrono Island
Personality: A timid person with little trust, Harold is an evacuee from when team rocket attacked Chrono Island. He was sent to Saffron City, a large change from rural life. Although he still has ties back to Chrono island nowadays, he lives in Saffron city as a merchant, but also as an inventor. He has invented many useful items, but his most useful are his Chrono Pocket Watch - A very accurate time keeper which also contains a hidden journal. Name: Steam
Trainer Class: Swimmer
Hometown: Castelia City
Personality: Growing up in Castelia City was great fun for Steam as a kid. The great sights and the high-rises. Steam grew up in a rich family as his father was the head of a large company, however Steam spent almost no time with his father as he was constantly busy with work. He spent a lot of time down by the Castelia City piers simply looking at the water. Here, Steam made friends with many Water pokemon and gained his superb swimming skills. Steam eventually took up battling after befriending these pokemon, and as a kid was one of the best at his school. He decided to pursue his love of battling but his father had different ideas and wanted him to go to university. Steam eventually ran away wanting to experience the world rather than be cooped up at a desk and in front of a computer all the time. Steam is very friendly and loves his pokemon. He is calm, cool and collected and rarely angers. He tries to stay positive and keep a good outlook on the future. He also has a very good drawing hand.

Name:
Teodoro Espadagua
Trainer Class: Gentleman
Hometown: Dewford Town
Personality: Teodoro grew up as one of the eleven sons of the extremely rich and extremely eccentric Vicente Espadagua, who had made his fortune by creating popular products and selling them to the naive islanders in his native town of Dewford. They were always talking about "the next biggest thing". Teodoro, in town one day, was approached by a young Pokemon trainer. In an attempt to prove his status, he began to brag about how popular his father's products were, until the trainer bluntly informed him he had never heard of them on the mainland. In his mighty arrogance, Teodoro ran attempted to charter a boat to take him to Slateport City, to prove this brash Trainer wrong. On his arrival, he discovered that he, and his family, were nobodies. His pretentious air was gone from that day forth, and he returned to Dewford prepared to become his own man, and not live in the shadow of his father.

Teodoro attempted to traverse the island alone, to show his true worth. On his trip, he found a gravely wounded Eevee, and rushed it back to the Pokemon Center. After healing this Pokemon, the Gym Leader Brawley found him standing there with this foreign Pokemon. He suggested that Teodoro adopt the Pokemon, and become a trainer. Teodoro followed his advice, and in an instant he had named the young Pokemon, he called him Follow the Wind. Brawley saw the young man's zealotry and recruited him to train personally.

Teodoro, once being big headed and pompous, have fought against his original self to create a new persona. He's confident and self-assured in a relaxed way, he's proud of his accomplishments and still brags on occasion. His superiority complex still reveals itself from time to time, giving him an aura of charismatic dominence if he so wishes. However his vanity truly knows no limits.

RP Name: Nioka
Trainer Class: Camper
Hometown: Technically Mahogany Town
Personality:
Nioka grew up in the in tiny town of Mahogany, with a loving Mother, a caring Father, and an ambitious older brother named Luke. For six years Nioka lived a fine and happy life with his family, but then Team Rocket tried to reform.

They took over the town with brute and crude force, and in the massive onslaught of stealing and killing his mother and father perished. As a squadron of goons tore his house apart Luke hid Nioka in the basement, telling him everything would be ok and that if he didn't come back to run to BlackThorn city. The last words Nioka ever heard from his Brother. He went back up to stop the grunts, but he never cam back. Nioka heard an explosion, and scared beyond wits the six year old climbed out the back window and fled into the woods, taking with him only his stuffed swinub and a old pokeball.

For days Nioka ran, ran and ran. Scared of the people that took over his town and killed his parents, and did god knows what with his brother. Unknowingly he was moving northeast, far away from civilization. The forest grew more dense, and finally Nioka had to stop. He found the remains of an old hermit's shack, who had died ages ago. using what strength a six year old could muster he forged a small protected shelter, and stayed there for the night.

Days past, and it dawned on Nioka that he would die unless he did something. So using his only comfort, his doll that his deceased mother gave him, he created a trap, in which he snared a hungry Sneasal, and caught with his pokeball.

Nioka struggled to survive, but after making peace with his unwillling new partner he began to gain new senses and skills. he taught himself to study nature and his surroundings carefully. To not care what it is, if it is edible and won't kill you then eat it. To hunt and fish and swim too.

Years passed. Nioka was the age of 17 and far more advanced than any other male his age. His body was toned, strong, and sturdy, after countless broken bones healed naturally and exercises to get stronger. His mind was incredibly sharp, even without a regular education. He could sense things in the blackest of nights, climb any tree with such agile skill, and figure out problems with the slightest of ease. His bond with sneasal grew too, and he befriended most villains of the forest, becoming the ultimate ruler. He was a kind ruler though, learning from his troubled past that blood shed was not good, even with purpose.

Nioka was discovered at age 19, thirteen years after he fled his town. The indigo plateau was expanding its borders, and after trying to destroy a neighboring forest, was surprised when a strange young adult led a band of sneasal, nuzleaf, tangela, and more woodland creatures to attack the deforestation machinery. They rushed to the scene and apprehended Nioka, and after intense questioning and looking through old information did they realize who he was.

Nioka was given ten thousand dollars for his loss of no family. They tried, but could not find information on Luke anywhere. Nioka, living alone and in the woods for 13 years was dropped off at the doorstep of goldenrod city, in hopes that he could find a better life. Two weeks, three bloody noses, eight misunderstandings, and a trip to the police head quarters later Nioka headed south to ilex forest, where he found peace. after staying a few weeks there he stumbled upon azalea town, and the residents there were much nicer and more down to earth. He became an apprentice to the charcoal man and Kurt the poke-ball maker, as well as a guardian of the forest and slowpoke well. Still having the money from the indigo leauge, he used his funds to fix up a small house in the forest, and soon began his own career; A forest Ranger.

Years past, and Nioka became a well known Forest Ranger. When he was 23 He was summoned by the newly administered High-Leader of the Johto/Kanto Pokemon Rangers, and was asked to join them, due to his extreme knowledge of the land and his highly honed abilities. He agreed to join them, and he set out around the two regions, saving people, keeping nature protected, and learning more about his troubled past. He still tries to find information on his brother Luke, and what happened to him, because there was never a body of him found. Nioka knows he is still out there.

Nioka is 25 years old, at 6'2 and 170 pounds of muscle. He has brown hair and green eyes, With a cold and calculating stare. However, he is really not a bad person, just toned by years of living in solitude. His social skills are pretty atrocious, and is as down to earth as it gets. However, he is getting better at communicating and becoming more social due to the ranger job. He has a deep regard for pokemon, for they truly saved him. He also has a very justified nature, standing up for every injustice and doing what he believes is right, even if society thinks it is wrong.

Now that I know how mafia works...

RP Name: Morgan
Trainer Class: Ace Trainer
Home Town: Saffron City, Kanto
Basic Personality: Amongst the busy city of Saffron, young Morgan was born to poor parents, and the family was struggling to survive. Morgan did not expect to receive a pokemon on his 10th birthday, and was utterly surprised when he did. Unfortunately for the family, Morgan's father soon passed away. Without the main source of income, Morgan's mom was forced to work multiple jobs, but it still wasn't enough. With foreclosure staring him in the face, he decided to take matters into his own hands. He started to enter and win pokemon competitions for the money, anything he could get to save his family. The next few years, Morgan grew through the ranks of the trainers in Saffron City. Finally able to earn enough to settle their debt with the banks. Morgan spends his time training, never knowing when he might have to fight to survive again...

RP Name: Joshua.
Trainer Class: Gentleman.
Hometown: Mahogany Town.
Basic Personality: Joshua, originally from the wonderful land of Olivine City, left after his incredibly overbearing mother tried to push him into Pokémon Super Contests, AKA, the biggest pile of bullshit you've ever heard of. He attempted to pursue his fortune, and did so by moving to Mahogany Town, where he exploited the nearby Lake of Rage's fishermen, by organising them into a useful, ruthless hierarchy, putting himself on top, naturally. Yes, Joshua's Family Fishery is now one of the most successful businesses in Johto, along with Moomoo Milk of course.

However, he hasn't let this affect his own demeanour. He's an incredibly relaxed person when not at work, and kind to his workers, his Pokémon, and everyone around him. However, despite his kindness, he is withdrawn, and finds it difficult to speak to people - he has a severe lack of social confidence, mostly because of his overbearing mother, who refused to praise, only condemn. Boy has issues.

RP Name
: Rangos
Trainer Class: Camper
Hometown: Viridian City
Basic Personality: Rangos was only a young boy when he found his first Pokemon. It was a Farfetch'd, who was wandering around nearby Viridian Forest, looking for prey. Rangos fed it some Poffins his mother had made, and the bird quickly took to him. The Farfetch'd, who Rangos named Drake, had a rather Naughty nature to him, which surprisingly blended with Rangos' politeness. The two were an unstoppable pair. It was only a matter of time before the two were noticed by Ullar, the Valkyrie General. The Valkyrie himself used a sacred wellspring to send his image to Kanto, and he gave Rangos and Drake a sacred mission: Find out if Utgar and Valkrill had entered the Pokemon world, and if so, stop them. Ever since, Rangos and Drake had wandered the land, living on what they could, in their never-ceasing search for the evil Valkyrie. While Rangos has caught other Pokemon, and they may be a bit more developed, Drake is always his closest friend.

Rangos has a very genial personality. He is polite and friendly, but only mildly sociable. This, however, disguises his obedience and utter commitment towards getting the job done. He always listens to his superiors, particularly Ullar or his delegates, and carries out their orders. This is not to say he doesn't have a conscience, and he occasionally questions commands. This is somewhat rare, however.

Update on G0 and Mossdeep:

Alright, I'm learning a lot from G0. Like how long these games are going to take. For those unaware, G0 is roughly halfway through given my best estimates. Mossdeep will begin within a month of G0 ending. To give a better time limit, expect Mossdeep in April or May.

I've also laid out more specific rules for Mossdeep after looking at G0 and general interest. It will be a 20 player game with three refs. One of the refs will be me, who will handle operations in the city area and act as the main host. The second host will be in charge of operations in the islands and waters around Mossdeep City, and will help me with finalising dungeon design and big picture mechanics. The third ref will be Maxim, who will help whichever one of us is busier.

As it stands, I need a second ref. I would prefer that they have experience with TLR or Labyrinth. I will go on to say that this is a tremendous responsiblity; while they will not be quite as busy as I am with G0 in most circumstances, it is necessary to update dungeon and route threads quickly to keep them moving at a decent pace, as any good-sized dungeon will take a day or more in ASM time to complete, and this is with close to daily reffing. Additionally, Mossdeep will likely last roughly ten game days... forever. Some ability to not suddenly bail three months in would be preferable.

Beyond that, pay is generally equal to one counter per every Pokemon that participated in a battle, with a maximum of the number of rounds that passed.

If you want to apply, send me a PM explaining why you would be qualified.

On a much more relevant note, I will be attempting to codify ASM... yeah. I will be making fairly steady updates to this thread, and restructuring almost all of it again as G0 progresses and makes me reevaluate things. While I apologise for the massive wait for Mossdeep, I assure you it will be much better because of it.

Sorry about the double post, but about 24 hours to go in applications. I haven't actually gotten one yet, so there isn't much competition...

Personality/Backstory:

Will was born at a point in the Orange Islands that he generally does not specify for one reason or another. He's a journalist, and active explorer in a Guild in the Orange Islands. He often does most of his work as a freelance artist, as he sees amazing things from his "other job" as an explorer. While he doesn't rely much on his strength or reflexes, he knows enough about almost any subject to carefully get his way through most situations unharmed. He is obsessed with caution and analyzing everything before making a move, and is very good at noticing trends and patterns, and using them to his advantage.

Stat Code (MkI)

This is the, admittedly temporary, stat system of ASM. It does not deal with trainer classes, and no real specifics will be given at this time. It is solely to allow for a side-project presently in development to test the new mechanics changes.

All players have 50 HP and 100 energy. This doesn't actually correlate to Pokemon HP and energy, but I don't care to get into the abstract values now. They have been codified though. HP is how many hits you can take, and energy is how much you can do before collapsing. Reflex is defenses and evasion. It is how quickly a player can react to an attack to dodge it, and how likely a player is to only take marginal damage from an attack. Higher reflexes increase the probability of this happening. Strength is useful for swimming, running, and moving objects. It can also be used to physically overpower players and NPC's. Higher strength=higher physical prowress. Intelligence is the ability to know things about general subjects- locations, moves, NPC's, and mythology. This can actually be fairly important in terms of finding leads. Perception is the ability to notice details, people, traps, and aspects of an arena. It can also be used to recognize subtle changes in behavior at really high levels. Higher perception means more ability to sense things. Personality is the ability to manipulate others- NPC's and players. Higher personality will give other players a favorable opinion of you, and allow you to get more information from NPC's. Skill has been added since the last post- it is the ability to use Trainer Specific abilites. Higher skill grants more aquatic ability (Swimmer), more outdoors knowledge (camper), more technical ability (scientist), more knowledge on battling (Ace Trainer), more psychic ability (Psychic), more hand-to-hand skill (Black Belt), better healing techniques (Doctor), and more knowledge on information of all sorts- but to a lesser degree than the specializations (Veteran).

A player can have a max stat total of 60, no less than 1 in any stat, and no more than 15 in any stat. For instance, my spread is:

15 Perception
15 Intelligence
15 Personality
2 Strength
3 Reflex
10 Skill

Specialization like this has its strengths and weaknesses: I can get around dungeons and puzzles really easily, and find out all I can from NPC's. I'm also horribly open to most attempts to kill my player. This is necessary due to the only circumstances I will be "playing," and is not meant to be a playable spread.

Balance? Straight out attack? A set of stats that would defy your trainer class? It's your choice.

(Only those designated as possible Beta Testers for the side project need to add stats at this time.)
