1) Without Scizor, how are you guys dealing with Dragons and Terrakion? They seem like toughies.
dat big Cresselia too strong. Also, Abomasnow revenge kills Dragons and its offense so I just sacrifice things when needed.

2) How are you guys handling weather? I know rain and sand are super common.
Dat Abomasnow, and weather doesn't really affect my team too much.

3) What inspired your teams? Considering all the Baton Pass and sand stall, I want to see how you thought your own team up.
I would like to thank Fatecrashers for creating the team :)

4) Is rain stall the toughest thing to face? If not, what is? How can you beat it?

Tbh, I haven't come across a team type that's the most problematic to face. Rain teams with that annoying SubCM Water Pulse / Thunder Jirachi are if you want to count that. Abomasnow changes the weather and can score some surprise kills on rain stall, and they don't really have much to handle Scrafty.

I just used an old baton pass team that I had made. Mew was the crux of the team. it gave me both defenses and access to taunt. A fast taunt is the saving grace of a baton pass team. Lucario, dragonite, and perish song politoed are the bane of baton pass teams without it. Dragonite almost always leads against baton pass thinking it can boost up alongside you. When mew taunts it and proceeds to set up, it's essentially gg unless they get a crit before a sub goes up. I normally use celebi on my baton pass team, but had to replace it with mr. mime since celebi wasn't eligible for the challenge. Mr. mime made dealing with politoed ~somewhat~ easier, but was generally useless. Having to use mr. mime also severely opened me up to subCM jirachi.

Thank you for the prompt responses guys, and judging from my experience, SubCM Rachi is already a threat for most teams. Anyways, keep in mind that the firs installation of The Outsiders Challenge ends on May 2nd at noon EST, so be sure to get to where you want to be by then! Don't worry, I have something special planned after that!

Anyways, how are people with full sun offense doing? I heard it would be an easy way to get up there, but not a single sun offense team has made it in!

Also sandz, I'm sure you can do it with hail offense! It's really anti-metagame, though admittedly a lot of big threats don't mesh very well with hail.

Harsha begged me.

I'll edit in team details / explain my experience and such at some other point, and if I can be bothered, will go for 1500 as well another time because I can't let McMeghan beat me!

Wow, attaining 1400 in 35 battles is certainly impressive! Congrats Bloo! Let's see if anyone can catch up! When you do get a chance, go ahead and post your team so I can update the HoF, though I've updated your status in the signups already. Good job!

Remember guys, this closes on Wednesday, May 2nd!

Building HO without Scizor/Dragonite/Terrakion is proving a lot more difficult than I anticipated. between the three a huge amount of power, speed, bulk and prioirty is lost. Right now I'm sturggling to find enough priority to cover what Bullet Punch+Extremespeed used to do, not to mention that having not having that Multiscale failsafe is unpleasant. Also, Scizor is the best priority sweeper in OU and Dragonite is the best Dragon Dancer in OU, which feels like it leaves me with a shortage of Pokemon that are difficult to revenge kill. I'm finding teams packing multiple scarfers especially tough, particularly when one of them is Rotom, who manages to revenge kill you without getting stuck locked into an exploitable move :l. I am rather impressed by Shell Smash Carracosta right now, though. dat AquaJet. UPDATE: changed alt, rebuilt team, a little more confident in this one. Not having dragonite is still tough though.

I will edit in team details and explain my experiences and such at some other point, and if I can be bothered, will always keep it higher than McMeghan and Bloo's rankings. DGF

I just hit 1401, and its been quite a ride. I could ladder higher, but I don't like to ladder. Sun stall was pretty good.

I swear, Chandelure, Milotic, and Cresselia were fucking gods when I laddered.

Especially Chandelure + hazards when Chansey can't exactly threaten it, and it can spinblock water moves in the Sun. Lures and weakens Politoed/Tyranitar, and barely anything can switch into Sub Chandelure.

Cresselia was really good against dragon spam and against non weather. Thunder Wave opened up so many Chandelure sweeps.

Haze on Milotic was great. I rarely used Dragon Tail unless the matchup required it. I usually used it as a pivot and used Scald and Recover accordingly.

Hardest matchup was probably well played sand or rain offense. I can play my way out of bad matchups, but if my opponent was good its pretty difficult.

Volt Turn was manageable if you can stack the field aggressively and set-up Chandelure for a sweep.

First of all, congrats LizardMan! That seems like quite a feat, as sun stall is rarely used!

Hello guys, and welcome to the last two days of The Outsiders Challenge! For those of you that have won and have not yet posted your team, please do so. Additionally, the last day to continue is 5 / 2 / 12 at noon EST, so get your ladder peaks in by then. I'd like to end this with a bit of discussion!

Was stall the most viable playstyle without the heavy offensive presences granted by common VoltTurn Pokemon, Dragonite, and Terrakion? Additionally, did you find that you often missed having sand and rain?

How tough was facing stall? I understand some of you used Baton Pass teams with Espeon which may have aided a bit, but using one's own stall team, I feel, would leave you at a disadvantage considering the sturdiest weather inducers are banned.

Finally, has this challenge inspired any of you to go out and play with the teams you have built for a bit longer? I know that when I took a stab at this, I found Cresselia a useful Pokemon (albeit setup fodder a bit of the time), and I have since considered making more hyper offense and heavy offense teams supported by it.

Thank you for taking the time to play, and remember, get to where you want to be by Wednesday, May 2nd, at noon Eastern Standard Time!

Started late, so I had to do it quick
PO alt when laddering: teenage dandelion
type of team: random shit offense
ladder standing: 1403

I modified an existing OU team with random underrated goodies for this, replacing a rotom-w for -c and politoed for infernape.
team:
Code:
Infernape (F) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 80 Atk / 224 SAtk / 204 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- U-turn
- Close Combat
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Overheat

Nattorei (Ferrothorn) (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 140 Def / 116 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Curse
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Power Whip

Staraptor (F) @ Choice Band
Trait: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Brave Bird
- Double-Edge
- Quick Attack
- U-turn

Conkeldurr (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Guts
EVs: 120 HP / 252 Atk / 136 SDef
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Bulk Up
- Drain Punch
- Payback
- Mach Punch

Gliscor (F) @ Flying Gem
Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Taunt
- Earthquake
- Acrobatics
- Swords Dance

Rotom-C @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SAtk / 36 SDef / 220 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Leaf Storm
- Substitute
It's real gimped with the random changes i made but hey.. the core still got me to a decent rating pretty quickly. some details: All pokemon are built to sweep. Even ferrothorn. EVs on infernape to 87.5% both standard landorus and terrakion. CB staraptor which basically 2hkos everything that doesn't resist it, ohkoing usual politoed/ninetales/jellicent, and wreaks havoc in general. Double-edge over close combat because I u-turn on ttars anyways, and double-edge ohkos rotom and zapdos. Curse ferrothorn for dragons, rotom-w, and sweeping physical teams. EVs for being able to tank a non CB terrakion CC while only taking 85% from a CBterrak with +1 def. Bulk up brokendurr for completely dominating sand teams once celebi, other checks are dead. Setting up on landorus is hilarious. SD taunt gliscor because it's also broken, can setup on skarm/hippo, shuts down stall, and sweeps slow teams. Poison heal because hilarity when opposing defensive gliscors try to toxic me though when they find out I'm acro sd. Sand veil sucks. Rotom-C because i needed a replacement for champion r-wash. I use offensive sub twave variant to spread para for my slow team, and causes trouble.

this is a heavily offensive team reliant on double switches to gliscor/staraptor to abuse the best attacking type in the game. after conkeldurr, ferrothorn, or gliscor's checks are taken out, whichever is convenient at the time, setup sweep and game. Most games actually end with a conkeldurr sweep. The team has problems with sun offense and 6x dragon teams, but whtever

Ok time has come...
