Chapter 3 of my Scramble is below and covers the first Gym along the capture of the fourth Scamblemon.
Chapter 3
I wanted to challenge the first gym but the guy at the gym said I need to get approval from the Elder of Sprout Tower. So I stormed out and went to Sprout Tower which apparently was built because of Bellsprout. Poor, poor people. No better Pokemon to build a tower on I guess. The sages here had mostly weak Bellsprouts which I used to train Batman with which his quirk suddenly emerged. It learned Supersonic but refused to use it and kept using Leech Life. After Leech Life couldn’t be used anymore and Supersonic could be used, it still refuse to use it. Eventually it learned Astonish and used that normally but still uses Leech Life every time it fights.
After fighting the sages of Sprout Tower, I ran into the jerk Soul. The Elder criticized Soul for abusing his Pokemon which he didn’t care as he still beat the Elder. I can see why Soul had to steal a Pokemon in order to train because no one would give him a Pokemon. After Soul left, I fought the Elder even though I wasn’t quite ready to do so. Batman took care of the Bellsprouts while Joey managed to defeat the Hoothoot. The Elder praised me for elegantly fighting him and gave me his permission to tackle on the Gym along with the Flash TM.
To satisfy both Joey and Batman, I did some additional training with them before taking on the Gym which I used Quote to face Falkner and his two pupils. Since Falkner is a specialist of Flying Types, his Gym is actually high above the ground and wonder how this structure was supported with apparent lack of anything holding it up. Quote’s Ember was the only thing I needed to defeat the entire Gym with even though I was worried about of losing while facing Falkner’s Pidgeotto with its constant use of Roost. Luckily, I managed to burn it and fell due to the effect. I got the Zephyr Badge along with the Roost TM and able to use Rock Smash outside of battle.
Falkner told me that I should head to Azalea Town for the next Gym but soon as I left the Violet City Gym, Elm calls me. He asks me to head for the Pokemart to pick up the egg that he initially had me to pick up for him. I didn’t want the egg with me and wasn’t going to let Elm to keep using me as an errand boy, so I went to the Pokemart and told the guy off that I didn’t want the egg. My mother used the money I been sending to her to buy a Super Potion and sent it to me. I trained Joey to use Rock Smash and went to the Dark Cave. While smashing some rocks, I encountered a Dunsparce. I heard that they were rare and thought it would be cool to have one. I managed to catch it and looked a bit depressed and thus named it Depressed the Dunsparce. As I head back to Violet City to heal Dunsparce, I encountered a Caterpie which I had Depressed out and rather weak. Suddenly Batman emerged from its ball and saved Dunsparce from the Caterpie. I guess Batman is definitely like the legendary hero its named after.
Party
Quote the Level 13 Gentle Male Cyndaquil - Jiimera0
Current BP Limit: 90 (+25 from soloing Falkner's Gym)
Opinion: Quote didn't see much action except for Falkner's Gym which it manage to solo the entire Gym. It almost didn't solo Falkner when Pidgeotto's Gust got Quote down to the red but the Burn status managed to KO it. The BP limit isn't too bad but keeping Quote's level in check is a bit of a problem as it managed to overtake Batman of being second-highest even with the buffer I had.
Current Moves:
Quick Attack (40 BP)
Leer
Smokescreen
Ember (60 BP)
Joey the Level 14 Rash Male Rattatta - Recec
Ability: Guts
Rattattas solo: 18/20
Opinion: Joey was mostly used just to keep the level req current. It has Rock Smash now and has a good coverage of moves against various Pokemon. There are some Rattata trainers coming up and will be able to fulfill the Rattata solo req and be able to evolve to Raticate.
Current Moves:
Rock Smash
Bite
Quick Attack
Pursuit
Batman the Level 13 Mild Male Zubat - Present
Ability: Inner Focus
Opinion: Most of the chapter was devoted to level up Batman to meet his level req. Just having Leech Life as the only move it could use against Falkner's Gym meant it could not solo that Gym. But with Bite now, it has better coverage.
Current Moves:
Leech Life
Supersonic (unusable)
Astonish
Bite
Depressed the Level 5 Male Lax Dunsparce - inanimate_blob
Ability: Serene Grace
Opinion: Currently its moves consists of two Normal type moves but with the TM/HM I have now, I can bring the types up to three with Roost and Rock Smash. I haven't encountered a Sirtrus Berry yet so that req doesn't come into play at the moment.
Current Moves:
Rage
Defense Curl
The next Scramblemon is coming soon and going to require a bit of grinding for it. I'm not looking to it at all. Depressed will grind for a bit to keep up with rest of the party.
