How so? Correct me if I'm wrong, but Superpower and SE have the same base attack, and neither gets STAB from Tauros. If SE doesn't OHKO, then the only way Superpower can KO is after Skarmory uses Roost, which means that Tauros would have to be pretty damn slow for that to happen.

Stone Edge has 100 base power, Superpower is a base 120 fighting move.

I was browsing through 2ch, and I found this in one of their threads. They have quite a few rumors spreading around, and I found a post descirbing several of these rumors.(google translate sucks, but here it is anyways.)

I think Bulk Up would be the most appropriate stat-up move it will get. It would be even more beastly if it got ExtremeSpeed due to priority and increased offense/bulk.

Bulk Up makes sense for him, but Swords Dance is supiorior. Remember, the creature his evolution will be based off of is bipedal (walks on 2 legs), so theres merit for him to learn SD as so far only those type of Pokemon have learned it. If I recall correctly, no quadrapeds learn SD (and it makes sense, as you need hands and arms to hold Swords as you dance ;P ).

As for ExtremeSpeed, his evolution is bound to get an increase in its speed stat, so if he hits base 115 then its kinda not needed, as much isn't going to be outspeeding him at that point.

I love rumors, it builds the hype in me.

Superpower is 20 base points higher than Stone Edge, meaning that Superpower has base 120 Power. If used on the Anger Management set, and if Tauros got the +6 Attack, then Superpower would deal 85% - 100.3% to Spiker Skarmory, which could very well OHKO after Stealth Rock damage. Naturally it is not guaranteed, but would function far better than Stone Edge.

the creature his evolution will be based off of

That was fan-art that had absolutely nothing to do with anything official, so it does not help to keep referring to it.

That sounds like the group of rumors Pokebeach posted before the ones posted today. "Team Plasma" was one of the rumors, which is supposed to be the evil team's name. It's way too garbled to really gather anythign from it. Japanese literate, help us out...!!

Stone Edge has 100 base power, Superpower is a base 120 fighting move.

Ugh, my bad.

I desperately wish for a Jynx, Mr.Mime, and Banette evo. For instance, Mr.Mime could evolve into, I don't know, Sr.Mime? It would get the most buff in hitpoints and defense, which would make it a decent wall (though won't reach OU), and Banette could perhaps be a Sword Dance-using Shadow Sneak user.

Stone Edge will never OHKO Skarmory, even with +6 Attack, but Superpower could. Tauros wouldn't mind the stat drop either, since +5 is still enough to destroy most of the OU tier. Tauros could definitely work with Swords Dance, but I must calmly correct that no evolution for Tauros has been announced, as only fake fanart was released as a Tauros evolution.

Hmmm really? What about the SpD Skarmorys everyone and their moms use now, they lack major Def EVs so I think it'll still get the job done. (it really seems like no one invests in Def for Skarmory these days, they would rather bulk up the SpD or Speed lol). And if it comes down to a hit and Roost war then just wait for the enevitable Critical hit to come, that'll get the job done.

they dont need hands to use sword dance, the blade on absol head is more then enough to use sword dance, in fact any blade on the body allow the use of sword dance, dont be fooled by the name, the pokemon dont need to dance with swords, all sword dance does is make the blade(s) on the pokemon body become bigger after 2 or 3 fast slashes in the air.

Absol would like to have a word with you

Torterra as well ;)

Anyways, I could see a Tauros evolution going Normal/Fighting, or at the very least gaining Close Combat. Quadrupeds are the fastest animals on the planet (think Cheetah, Flea, etc) so I think an evolution would be slower. Something like 110 HP / 130 Atk / 95 Def / 40 SpA / 85 SpD / 90 Spe. Access to one of Bulk Up or Swords Dance would make him a powerful sweeper, too.

What fan art? Didn't the guy with "insider" information say that it was going to be based off of a Minotauros? Litteraly every single drawing and mythological art of that type of creature showcases it as bipedal. (And lots of the times holding blades *cough* Swords Dance *cough*).

Assuming that Tauros would evolve into a biped, then it should technically get some punching moves (i.e. elemental punches, Sucker Punch, etc). If it does get Close Combat, then it would make the probability of it getting punching moves more likely.

What if Miltank got an evolution? Then I predict another form of Snorlax but with instant recovery, Scrappy + STAB Return, decent bulk, etc.

Finally, we get some new information on the upcoming games! And man, it is a lot of information. I'm still trying to take it all in. Allow me to ramble pointlessly and waste space with my thoughts and predictions...

So, Zek is Dragon/Electric after all, eh? That's so cool. Kudos to GameFreak for not going with the obvious Dragon/Dark...although Shoko's blog post probably killed the big surprise they were going for. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to taking this guy for a spin. He'll probably go pretty well with Kyogre, since he resists both her weaknesses and will appreciate the 100% accurate STAB Thunder. Yeah, because Kyogre really needed support to be effective...whatever. He'll probably make a decent Kyogre counter as well (assuming he's offensively built) so I'm not worried.

As for Reshi, I'm not loving that Stealth Rock weakness, but Dragon/Fire really is a sick STAB combination...correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's only resisted by Heatran? I can't believe he didn't get Levitate as an ability (for Pete's sake, look at those wings!), but TurboBlaze sounds pretty bad-ass. The "turbo" prefix makes me think that he really will use that tail as a propeller, as some people were predicting. All in all, I'm just really glad that GameFreak seems to have finally kicked their Pressure fetish. New abilities rock!

Moving on from the legendaries, most of the other Pokemon seem nice, if a bit bland. Then again, they're all first stages, so that's only to be expected. Nothing much to say about them, although Hihidaruma wins the award for most derivative Pokemon. Hmmm, a flaming ape...where have I seen that before? Congrats, Hihi. You're officially the Bronzong of the 5th gen...everyone's going to hate you! :naughty:

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about Meguroko and his new ability, Earthquake Spiral. An automatic Attack boost after every KO? That's incredible, especially when you consider that, as a Dark type, he's likely to get Pursuit. If this thing gets decent stats and an evolution or two, I'm expecting him to be a top OU contender.

The guy posted a picture from Deviantart of a Taurus evo fakemon named "Tauring", passing it off as "concept art". Later he said that he misunderstood his source, who supposedly was only saying that it would LOOK like the fakemon. I'm too lazy to find the specific picture he posted. Either way, it destroyed his credibility.

For some reason, when I first read this, I read it as Sir Mime, which could be a Psychic/Steel mime in a suit of armor. A Psychic/Steel type with Filter would be a great wall.

We still don't know whether this guy is legit or not. From what I've seen in the PokeBeach thread, a lot of faith was put into this guy, and it was shattered with the copy-pasting of a DeviantArt conception of a Tauros evolution. However, Martjin Muller (think that's his name, he's the informant) says it was a misunderstanding according to a post from the same name in PokeBeach, and that he'll have something concrete next week at E3.

Some people want to give him a second chance (due to the possibility of another party masquerading as him and throwing out lies), and some think he's burying himself deeper and deeper by trying to cover up what served to be his reputation-destroyer. The jury's still out, and we're still waiting for confirmation on either end of the debate, so in the meantime, assuming that the rumor is true doesn't really work.

EDIT: Sir Mime sounds godly. I'm all for it!

I know Mime Sr. is the most obvious name, but I heard the name "Master Mime" before and... that's just genius, way more interesting.

But the Sir Mime idea is pretty great. It could still become Psychic/Steel has Master Mime if they put more emphasis on the walls it puts up, maybe saying they're hard as steel or something... lol.

O__o holy gee that would be vicious. Mr. Mime already gets great support moves like Thunderwave, Hypnosis, Encore, and both screens, so Sir Mime would definitely find its way into OU. The only problem is that it does not seem that likely, due to Mr. Mime's 40 HP and 65 Def. But who knows? Evolution can fix alot. :P

I wonder if the third legendary for the 5th gen trio would be Ice/Dragon. This would possibly be a parallel to Articuno/Zapdos/Moltres trio, and though it's quite irrelevant, I still find it interesting. I am gonna ramble on about what I think the legendaries' abilities would do:

TeraVoltage: Ignores Ground-type immunity against Electric-type moves, like Scrappy for Normal moves. This makes sense given the ability's name (Tera = earth = ground) and would really fit the legendary's power (to screw over Groudon XD).

TurboBlaze: Might be a Fire-type eqiuvalent to Motor Drive. If that's the case, then it can switch in to Ho-oh's Sacred Fire and laugh as it swiftly strikes back for the kill (or something).

Actually, I think it'd make more sense for the Mime evo tree to have a split evolution path, similar to Snorunt's; depending on its sex, it can evolve into either Glalie or Froslass. Maybe it's time we had a Ms. Mime.

Terra means earth. Tera is a metric unit, IIRC, and it's very very high. The implication is very powerful voltage. It could be either or, but I personally prefer Tera Voltage (since Terror Voltage is a mistranslation :()

Well, its Japanese name is Barrierd, which does not imply that it is a mono-gendered species. Therefore, I don't think that they will make a branched evolution based on gender (though you never know; we've already seen this with Kirlia). Also, I think Mr.Mime evolving into Ms.Mime would confuse American gamers.

EDIT: Unless if you plan on having the branching to start from Mime Jr., but then they'd have to make Mr.Mime male-only, which I doubt will happen.

EDIT: Crap, forgot that Tera is an SI prefix and that there was only 1 r in TeraVoltage >.<
