Nuzlocke Challenge

After that near death experience, here is my current team:
Nuzlockepart3.png

Challenge is off. I am too busy to play with any frequency. Also, I was going to need some serious grinding to actually win, and I hate grinding with a passion.

I'm doing a nuzlocke on my diamond! also no gay fanfic shit...

Okay, so here I start my nuzlocke run. My retarded rival brings me to the lake, we steal shit, kill some animals, etc. We're fuckin hardcore. I mull over which pokemon i should start with, but I end up using Turtwig. I've never used him before and since i can't make sacrifices to wear down roark to put him in mach punch range, and piplup is ass, he just seems the most solid. STAB earthquake doesnt hurt as well 8) so i was hoping to not find a pokemon before i got my poke balls. the rng hates me. i ran into a starly (WANT) which i had to kill for experience. I got the talk from rowan and headed on down route 200whatever. Dawn showed me how to catch a pokemon (turns out you have to throw the poke ball or something its really complicated). I got my poke balls from dawn, and got my wish; a starly, level 4! I started to battle with him so he could learn quick attack and then get on par with turtwig. After he learned wing attack, however, I was battling solely with him.

So I arrive at jubilife city, talk to these assclowns, and then head north to maybe catch something good and get some experience. I battle a few trainers and run into a level 3 starly, which i just kill. Now my starly is level 10 and my turtwig 8. Now that i'm satisfied with my levels, I head out to battle DOUCHE (who the fuck names their child douche-oh wait ehehe). I tackle the starly with turtwig until i'm at like -3 from growl and doing jack shit to starly. I go to my own starly who takes down his and then 3hkos his chimchar. I go back and heal up (at this point i realize i'm healing too much and and imposing a 500 dollar fine per poke center visit). I forge onwards, catch a zubat, and then meet this (BAN ME PLEASE) who has one pokemon. Kricketot.

So kricketot uses bide turn one as i tackle. Tackle is looking like a solid 3hko. Not seeing the danger in this, i tackle again. Kricketot is storing energy.

Kricketot unleased stored energy. Turtwig fainted.

Fuck

So now I'm down a turtwig with Roark still left to face. I head into the grass ahead of me and see if i find a budew; no luck. So i press on into oreburgh gate, nabbing rock smash. I remember that i can maybe catch a machop if i'm lucky in a patch of grass after oreburgh. I head on down to the grass, and stare at the screen until i see i have a battle. Wild machop appears. FUCK YES. I'm too afraid of ohkoing it with my level 13 starly, so i just throw a poke ball. 3 shakes, and it's mine. I now have a shot at roark. I check its moves-low kick and leer. Low kick. fuck yes. I go to oreburgh mine to train it against geodudes, finding that low kick is a 3hko. I elevate myself five levels to level 10 and learn karate chop, another stroke of luck. I'm still not confident about my level, since I can't OHKO wild level 7 geodude with him, so i grind a bit more and get to roark. hi yea gym leader watch you smash rocks cool battle? So we go back to heal up, buying and tossing a potion and paralyze heal. I go to the gym and fight all of his grunts to be as STRONGTH as possible. I just use a potion because i am lazy. Next...

GYM LEADER BATTLE: ROARK
TYPE: ROCK
BADGE: 1

I karate chop twice for the ko on his geodude while he Mud sports. He then brings our Cranidos who leers as i karate chop for around eighty percent damage. Then he restores all of his health as i Karate Chop again for a critical hit OHKO. Then he sends out Onix who i'm pretty sure low kick will ohko. Onix outspeeds me and uses screech as i low kick, leaving him with a tiny sliver of health. He uses rock throw which, even at -3 defense, manages 9 of my hp and i low kick for the win.

TEAM:

Starly @ level 13
- tackle
- quick attack
- wing attack
- growl

Machop @ level 15
- low kick
- karate chop
- tackle
- foresight

Bidoof @ level 5
- tackle

THATS ALL FOR NOW BYE

Okay, so after i beat roark i headed back to jubilife and north to floaroma. Not much going on here, so I head east to the mysterious building. It's locked, so I decide to check out the patch of grass next to the building. I get a bidoof which, while not desirable, is going to prove extremely useful later on in the game when I acquire more HMs. I lknow I already have one, but it could definitely be useful in case something bad happens to my current bidoof. It's nice to stock up before times get dire.

I fight a couple trainers here, and my starly gets to level 14 and evolves!! cant wait to get to staraptor and brave bird/close combat!! Anyway, I go back to floaroma and head through the small opening in the trees north of the town. I go through the cut scene and easily defeat the rocket grunts with my staravia, who levels up to 16. I've decided to main staravia the rest of the way to eterna city, because it utterly destroys gardenia.

As soon as I leave the battle, starly starts evolving!!! Exciting, I'm definitely gonna enjoy the attack boost that comes with that. Anyway, I make a quick trip to the pokecenter to heal up before the inevitable team galactic fight. I head into the valley windworks, smash through a couple grunts and level up my machop, who i decided to use for a little to prepare for saturn(?)'s purugly. I vaguely remember her starting with skuntank, so pre-battle i switch my lead to staravia as to preserve machops's health. She ends up leading with skuntank, as i predicted, but it's starting to get ugly. First, it hits me with a night slash. Doesn't deal much damage, I wing attack for a hefty chunk. Next turn, i continue wing attacking, but fuck fuck fuck he uses poison gas...thank god it misses. third turn, i miss the ko with wing attack by a sliver of health and he uses poison gas. This time it hits. I'm just going to ko skuntank and get staravia out of here to conserve health. i wing attack for the fourth and last time, killing skuntank, but subjecting me to some more poison damage.

She sends out purugly, and there is definitely no way that i'm letting staravia take any more damage. If I do it'll die on the ride home. I decide to sacrifice bidoof, since i have another one that I just caught. Bidoof goes down, and I send out machop. Easy OHKO with low kick here, don't exactly remember what she used, but it's inconsequential. She leaves, and i carefully walk my way to the pokecenter. Staravia has about 3/5 of its health left, thanks to skuntank's night slash + 2 rounds of poison. By the time I get to the pokemon center, staravia is threatening to keel over at a meager 4 hp. glad that first poison gas missed! i heal up and head north to eterna city to face gardenia. i've decided to main staravia unless something weird pops up so that it will destroy her with no issues. I tag team with the girl, and I sure am glad since I get poisoned at least 5 times. I reach eterna without a hitch.

i walk around town a little bit, grab the dragon plate behind the palkia statue, and head to the pokemart to stock up on pokeballs. after this i see no use piddling around, so i head straight to the gym. staravia is already at level 20 from eterna forest + skuntank, so it makes light work of the lesser trainers. I heal up one more time before heading to gardenia.

GYM LEADER: GARDENIA
TYPE: GRASS
BADGE: 2

Easiest gym battle I have ever had. Staravia, level 22 by now, ohkos every single one of her pokemon with wing attack. I collect my badge, my grass knot tm, and my ability to use cut outside of battle, and head north to the rocket hideout!!

TEAM:

Staravia @ level 23
- wing attack
- quick attack
- endeavor

machop @ level 17 (ok i used him once in eterna)
- low kick
- seismic toss
- karate CHOP
- foresight

Update

Dark Blade (Gallade) smoked Maylene with Psycho Cut after she made the mistake of Fake Outing Gallade thus activating Steadfast. a Swords Dance later and it was over as Dark Blade tore her apart. Anyway here is my team, might like some help with it!

475.png

Dark Blade (Gallade)
Lv 32
Naive
Leaf Blade, Psycho Cut, Night Slash, Swords Dance

Dark Blade is the team powerhouse and has come a long way from the Ralts I first recieved. It too ka lot of training to get it to this level but I reckon its worth it. He is likely to become my key Fighting type and looks well set to be a key member of this team

476.png

Ion (Probobass)
Lv 28
Sassy
Rock Throw, Tackle, Thunder Wave, Harden

Ion does not look like much but he is a key pivot of the team. He shrugs off special attacks and is often used to cripple dangerous threats. He was instramental in thunder waving Mismagius allowing Bolt and Maximum to take it down with little issues.

389.png

Maximum (Torterra)
Lv 32
Gentle
Earthquake, Razor Leaf, Bite, Leech Seed

My starter pokemon. Maximum has been there since the start and can eat a hit and dish on out. I don't really like his low damage output atm but he gets the job done and I have a tangela (from the Great Marsh) as a back up if he fails me.Still with Earyhquake and Leech Seed I expect him to take a more active role in the team.

404.png

Bolt (Luxio)
Lv 27
Mild
Spark, Bite, Tackle, Charge

Bolt is another one who has been there since the begining. His electric attacks have been usefull taking down Gyarados that I find but its really the ability Intimidate that keeps him in my party. When I had a Starvia he helped abuse double intimidate but alas it was not to be. He is a little underpowered but still can dish out some nice damage with Spark.

428.png

Succubus (Lopunny)
Lv 28
Sassy
Jump Kick, Return, Quick Attack, Foresight

Succubus has been awesome in is team. It has excellent, well rounded stats which let it take a hit and hit back hard with a STAB Return. It is often my "go to" pokemon whenever im in trouble anup till now it works fine. That said I am considering swapping it for a second Staravia I captured which would give me the double intimidate as well as nice scouting ability with U-Turn and Roost. Oppinions on this would be great!

193.png

Sonic (Yanma)
Lv 30
Modest (!)
Uproar, SonicBoom, Supersonic, Pursuit

Sonic has just been caught but he intantly became a member of this team thanks to his high Special Attack and the ct that he should recieve tinted Lens when he evolves. Currently with compoundeyes I can abuse Hypnosis (when I get it) to sleep a threat. Hopefully investing in him will mean rewards in future but for now he seems to be doing o.k

Other pokemon Im looking into

Tangela, Eevee, Porygon, Spiritomb, Staravia and Huge Power Marril are all possiable pokemon I could see in my party but im not sure what to do. Its nice to have back ups but im not sur eif some of those should become permant members of my party, Help!

Dead List

Jet the Buizel
Murk the Shellos
Angel the Staravia
Chrome the Bronzor
Slick the Aipom
Shadow the Duskull

well seeing as its encountered in the "Hallowed Tower" its a new area. I have 2 DS so I can talk to the 32 people easily but I have not needed a Spiritomb yet so yeah. Of course if people reckon Spiritomb counts against the One pokemon per Route rule then of course I will ignore it.

bidoof @ level 7

Okay, so I head north to the rocket hideout. I used machop the whole way, because he was looking seriously underleveled compared to staravia! I breeze through these noobs, getting to the final boss. i swap out to staravia for the zubat, while machop easily takes care of skuntank, no poison. however, i am a bit nervous over my lack of pokemon; if machop or staravia were to die, i'd be seriously up a creek. i get the bicycle for saving the old man, and head towards cycling road. i pick up the experience share in the hallway, SCORE! i attach it to machop and lead staravia so they both can get some levels; they are closer now that i demolished the galactic base with machop, plus I want staravia to fukin evolve! I head down cycling road, battling every single person. I get some good experience. I run into dawn after i get off cycling road and land a vs seeker! great way to get extra experience. I', going to make a quick side-trip. I was pretty sure you caught gible in wayward cave, but as it turns out you need strength to do it...oh well. I find a wild ponyta in the grass! DO WANT! Right now, i'm lacking firepower, and once i get to veilstone i will hopefully have a rapidash with fire blast. plus stomp is pretty good early game, and ember can hold me over.

I ditch this place, and head on over to hearthome city. I stop the lady's buneary, and head to the contest hall where my mother gives me a tuxedo. I don't do contests though, so I forge onward. Solaceon town is dead ahead. I battle all of the trainers there, and my Ponyta is looking pretty strong at level 17 by the time we leave the route. I want to get a little something before I go to the tower, so I heal up at the poke center and head north and west. First, i go up on the hill and talk to the girl for roost, which i teach to staravia. Then I head forward some more, 3/4 of the way to veilstone, and talk to the karate guy staring off into the distance. He gives me payback, which i quickly teach to machop. He's been a little underleveled since eterna, but with payback he can breeze through the ghost tower. I head back to solaceon, my ponyta now level 21 since i put it in the main slot, with my other main pokemon being 26 and 24, staravia and machop.

I set machop to my main, as he needs to gain a few levels and now knows payback. I easily beat all of the trainers in the tower with machop/ponyta and gain two levels with machamp and one with ponyta. Now I head back to hearthome and go south instead of east. I think the guy who owns the building gives you one cutemon a day or something; either way, I should at least get SOMETHING out of it. I battle a few trainers and get to the building. First, I check out the grass. I get a battle and it's...PIKACHU! I'm pretty excited about this; I desperately need something that can handily beat water-types, and since wake is coming soon, this is perfect. Feeling pretty confident, I head out and travel north and east again towards veilstone. I nab a Kadabra, which I decide to stow away in the box for insurance. I battle the few trainers that are left, and am at the end of the line when i come across a double battle. It's monferno and glameow vs machop and staravia. Monferno mach punches machop for a bit of damage, while aerial ace for an ohko. Machop low kicks for around 60%. Then he sends out motherfucking Gyarados. It's raining in the route, so I don't know if I should risk a possible waterfall, but I do. He uses thrash on machop, bringing me into the red. He swaps glameow out for a kadabra, as I low kick for about half health. I need to get out of here, but nothing can take two thrashes. I have to make a choice. I end up sacrificing bidoof, while returning kadabra for a kill. Bidoof dies to thrash, I bring out Ponyta and stomp + return for a quick ko. Need a new HM slave, but I get out intact. Should've taught Pikachu shock wave ~_~.

I enter veilstone, and the first thing I do is heal up. Then I go to the department store so I can finally have not shit movesets. I pick up a fire blast, a focus blast, and a thunder. Pikachu gets thunder (i thought it could learn focus blast...oh well may come in handy if i use kadabra!) and ponyta gets fire blast. Then I teach pikachu grass knot. I'm going to kick myself if i end up needing that and pikachu gets boxed. I head over to the gym and put Staravia as my main, level 29. I really want to evolve it to staraptor because im sure it learns one of brave bird or close combat at evolution. I level it up once and use my rare candy on it. After I fight all the nooblets, I'm a few experience points away from level 32. I don't want to level up on wild pokemon for two levels, so I head south to find some more trainers and possibly use my vs seeker. Staravia quickly evolves into staraptor, ready to trounce the gym with close combat!!

GYM LEADER: MAYLENS
TYPE: FIGHTING
BADGE: 3

She leads off with meditite, who is quickly OHKOd by staraptor's aerial ace. Then out comes machoke, who is dispatched of equally as easily and quickly with an OHKO to the face hole via aerial ace. Lucario is last to die, as I outspeed and close combat for 3 ohkos, demolishing another gym leader, and gaining drain punch! (also fuck you can use strength out of battle already? ARRGH!)[turns out you cant]

TEAM:

Staraptor @ level 34
- return
- roost
- close combat
- aerial ace

Machop @ level 26
- low kick
- payback
- rock smash
- vital throw

Pontya @ level 25
- stomp
- fire blast
- fire spin
- ember

Pikachu @ level 23
- thunder
- slam
- quick attack

More to come!!

Ah, this looks fun. But also tragic. Oh well! LeafGreen version, starting now.

Rules:

1. When a Pokemon faints, it is dead, and must be released/put into the box and never used again
2. Only the first Pokemon can be caught on each Route
3. Nickname your Pokemon.
4. You cannot use items outside of battle.
5. You cannot use legendaries.

Off we go!

Log:
I woke up to the usual sound of machines whirring and the odd explosion in the distance. I knew that today, I would finally be able to start getting rid of the Rockets and their disgusting regime.

The Rockets took over 5 years ago, when I was just a child. I remember being driven from our home in Viridian City, and watching the city burn to the ground. My family and I were homeless, penniless, and hopeless. We were forced south, towards a flat piece of land, barely inhabited by anything. My family, along with other refugees, set up a new settlement, called Pallet Town. This would be the base of the Resistance, a small group of Freedom Fighters, including my parents, who attempted to sabotage and disrupt the Rockets' rule, by smuggling in rare Pokemon to give us as good a chance as any of taking them down.

The next few years were very difficult. Even though our Resistance was growing, the Rockets spread, taking over the entire Kanto region. We saw Viridian City rebuilt, but not as the peaceful haven we knew it as, but as an industrial hell-hole, crawling with Rockets. Spies were positioned in all Routes, ready to engage in battle with anyone who passed and made eye contact.

Today was my time. I was finally ready to apply to become a Fighter. As I approached the HQ, know as the lab, I realised only one other person was applying. He was my childhood friend, Jason. I felt proud that we would both be starting our journeys together. I filled in the appropriate form:

Name: Owen
Age: 17 (They made the age limit higher after a few close calls with the younger children)
Choice of Pokemon: Squirtle
Nicknamed: Vimes (Pratchett reference!)

I give my form to the Aide, who goes into the lab. He shortly comes back to tell me and Jason to go in. Oak is an intimidating man, who rarely speaks, but he clearly supports the Resistance.

"So you're Owen and Jason, yes?"
We both nodded.
"Here's your Pokemon."
He handed us a Poke ball each, and we both immediately let our new partners out. Vimes stared up at me, with a single-minded determination which I knew would help immensely throughout. Jason was crouched in front of his Bulbasaur, looking deep into its eyes.

As was the tradition, Jason and I knew that we must battle, to gather familiarity with the field we were about to enter. As Vimes and Bulbasaur faced off, we were given the rules by the Aide.

"No lethal force! The winner will be the first to lower the opponents' health to a low enough level that it cannot continue!"

Oak began to guide us through, but this was only protocol. Jason and I had known how to battle for years, and still used the simulators often.

Vimes shakes his tail, lulling Bulbasaur into a false sense of security. He immediately goes on the offensive, but I also get Vimes going. Soon, we are both exchanging blows, until the critical point where Bulbasaur slips and misses his shot. I'm able to land a blow which deals enough force to incapacitate Bulbasaur without killing it.

"Owen wins!"

I celebrate with Vimes, and the bond between us which will be so necessary to take down the Rockets grew. I needed to take them down, and having Vimes by my side would make things so much easier.

I will begin this tonight, Heart Gold, and I will try to document as much activity as possible. I don't have tons of time to play so it will take me a while. Also, to clarify (since the other rules differ slightly), healing items are disallowed period INCLUDING while in battle right? The other page you linked to mentioned something about them being in battle so yeah. I will be following standard rules set forth in this thread.

EDIT: It's not mentioned, but is there a rule regarding saving and reloading? I would think that falls into the category of "if everyone faints you must start over", so I will play this challenge WITHOUT reloading. We'll see how far I get before I smash my DS...

Update 3:

Well, I start off going after the Magma thug.
Head up to Route... o.O i forgot. xDD anyways, up there I run into a Taillow (I know I need this for Brawly :3)
I send out Evelyn to do the job. ^^
Frickin RNG hates me. Landed 2 Crits in a row on him... he hung on by a thread.
Caught Taillow (Nate, Timid, Lv. 8)[forgot to screen shot]
Head to the Whismur Cave, and Crit the first Whismur with Nate. >>
Stupid RNG...
Fight the Magma Grunt with Mason, and... HE EVOLVES AFTER!! :D
RUBY8.jpg

After all that junk, and then getting the PokeNav, I head to Mr. Briney's house.
On the way there, I decide to train Nate a bit.
RUBY11.jpg

I came within 4HP of losing Nate to a Shroomish. >> That thing was a beast.
anyways, after I hit Lv. 12 with Nate, I made my way to Dewford.
First thing I do when I get there is grab the Old Rod, then I head to the Cave to find Stephen.
I run into and catch a Makuhita (Michael, Serious, Lv. 8)[forgot to Screen Shot]
Then, next Pokemon, ofc, was Abra. Not that I could have caught him, but still. >>
RUBY9.jpg

Cursed RNG. >>
Anyways, after finding Stephen, I decide to take on the Gym.
BRAWLY, HERE I COME!!
After using Nate to make quick work of the Gym trainers, Brawly is up next.
[Again, I kept forgetting to SS this stuff]
Brawly's Machop almost took out Nate before he finished him off, so I sent out Beatrice to try her luck against Makuhita, and it proved to be a great idea. ;D I spammed Harden, then the RNG blessed me by poisoning Maku with Poison Sting.
Then it was absorb til I won. It worked very well. ^^
So, another Gym Battle without losing anyone. :D

I headed over to the Pokemon Center and here is my team:
RUBY12.jpg

Update 4:

Off to Slateport!! ^^
RUBY13.jpg

I decide to stick Michael in the lead so I can train him up a bit.
As I step off Briney's boat in the Slateport harbor, a Sailor is there. I challenge him, thinking it would be easy...
Stupid Surf on a Zigzagoon. >>
Ruby14.jpg

RUBY15.jpg

I lost Michael AND Nate.
/Heartbreak. D;
SO, to compensate for my loss, I head above Slateport to catch something.
First battle is an Electrike (Ike, Serious, Lv. 12)
RUBY16.jpg

So then I try to find the guy that gets the Devon Goods. (I can't remember his name... should write this stuff down xD)
They send me to the Museum to find him, but our conversation gets interrupted by Team Magma.
RUBY17.jpg

Easy as crud... xDD
RUBY18.jpg

Lol, wewt. xDD
RUBY19.jpg

Came out without losing anyone. :3

After that, I run off up past Slateport again to continue my quest...
I fought all the trainers up to May, and then I challenged her.
I ALMOST lost Ike. o.O
RUBY20.jpg

After I get past her I head up to Mauville... and face Wally after I hit up the PKMN Center.
RUBY23.jpg

Almost got Ike. >>
Anyways, finished him off, then ran to the PKMN Center.

My team is as follows:

Stay tuned for another update!! ^^

CHAPTER 1: THE BEGINNING

My hands shook, and my heart was pounding. Sweat poured down my face like irrigation through an aqueduct.
"Am I really going to go through with this?" I thought to myself, nervously glancing over at my DS on the table.
After much internal debate, I decided I would take on this quest of valor.

After an exciting first chapter, it was time to make camp and rest for the night. I stopped off at the Pokémon Center and went to bed. Stay tuned for the next chapter!

LOL@WaterBomb!! xDD Dude...

You are my idol. Thats great. I love the creativity. PLEASE keep it coming. :3

Minor Update:

I can't take on Watson yet, so I am just level grindan. xD If only Michael would have survived. >>

LeafGreen: Part 2: The actual beginning.

"Owen, I need you to get a part for this Pokedex. It's not going to work until I get the part, and as this will be yours, you'd better go to Viridian now."

I was excited and nervous to finally be on my way. Sure, it was only getting a part for Oak, but I was headed right into a major Rocket base, and with barely any risk due to the lack of spies on Route 1 and the confusing disappearance of almost all trainers within the City itself. I headed out of Pallett, Vimes strolling by my side. He seemed more alert than usual, almost unnerved by the unfamiliar surroundings. I meet an ally who gives me medicine, but I hope I won't need that soon.

As I head further North, a small bird suddenly jumps out at me! I recognise this from the simulators as a Pidgey, but clearly not well adapted to the mechanisation taking place nearby. It occasionally hacked up soot, and its wings, usually pale brown, were almost entirely jet-black. Still, it seemed feisty, so Vimes and I engaged it in battle. The bird was suprisingly quick, attacking Vimes before he could respond, hurling itself into him. Vimes recovered quickly, crashing into the opponent. The bird and Vimes continue this, until Vimes dodges one of the Pidgey's attacks, and from here my partner takes advantage, defeating the bird.

After this point, I'm no longer troubled. I become worried when I spot someone in the distance, but it only turns out to be a nervous looking pedestrian, and I soon arrive in Viridian. I rest up for a couple of hours at the Pokemon Centre, and Vimes emerges looking fitter than ever, after which I head on over to the Market. A man behind the counter recognises me immediately

"You came from Pallett Town, right? This your first visit?"
"Erm, yeah. What is this place?"
"This is the Market, a place for Resistance members to stock up for their journey. There's one in every major town. Come whenever you want, but don't forget there's a major rule. You CANNOT use items outside of battle, we simply don't have the resources. Here's your package. Godspeed"

He ushers me out of the Market, and I head back towards Pallett. I arrive without incident, and Vimes is still healthy.

Oak attaches the part, and hands me and Jason, who was already at the lab when I arrived, a Pokedex each. Oak stands there in silence, he knows that we already know what to do.

As we turn to leave Oak calls after us:

"Wait, there's something you need to know. You can now only catch the first Pokemon you encounter per route, so you don't attract attention from the Rockets."

I remember back to the Pidgey at Route 1, and feel a sudden sense of frustration that this Route is now effectively useless.

"Good luck on your journeys. Jason, I believe your sister can provide Town Maps?"
"Yeah, that's right."
"Go on then, what are you two waiting for?"

Current Team:

Vimes, level 6.
Tackle
Growl

Dead Pokemon: none.
Missed Pokemon: Pidgey (Route 1)

My team barely survived the battle with Norman. We were all between 25-30 so we weren't ready to take him on yet but I was cocky after destroying Flannery so I challenged him. The only thing that let me win was whirlwind on Baller, my hariyama. Whirlwind and Slack Off are life savers. SOMEHOW managed to survive with no casualties but I replaced PowderPuff with Modo the trapinch! say hello to my team as of now:
Nuzlockepart4.png

Ok, I've been neglecting to update the post for a while, nice to see all the new people and the return of a few old challenges (and sad to see Rediamond's HGSS run end so soon :( ). That being said, update is happening now. As for my run, I've been neglecting that as well, mainly because I want to use the no repeat rule to my advantage to ensure I get a Larvitar at Mount Silver, a process involving catching 3 or 4 different Pokemon on specific routes I haven't encountered Pokemon on yet where they're extremely common or guaranteed to get thanks to no repeat. Once that's done, it's just a matter of grinding for the final battles with Red and the new-and-improved E4.

EDIT: Believe I got everything. A few notes:
-I decided to take the rules out of the OP (the O stands for organizational in this case, not original ;) ) because most of them were just basic rules and such. If anyone has some special rule they want put in feel free to tell me and I'll add it.
-It would be nice if people started linking their previous updates; that way if a new person comes in and reads your 4th update they don't have to go searching through 5-10 pages to find the first 3.
-Eventually I'm going to start purging runs that have been inactive for a large number of pages to keep things looking nice.
-On a more curious note, does anyone actually care about the new OP or am I just wasting my time keeping it up to date?

CHAPTER 2: THE DAILY GRIND

I awoke in the pokecenter and yawned loudly. Stretching and standing up slowly, I glanced out the window. Azalea was already awake, with the normal hustle and bustle (of a quiet rural forest town) underway. I gathered my balls (and also my pokemon containers) and headed out the door, winking at Nurse Julie at the front desk and saying "thanks for last night!"

As I set off toward the west side of town, I recalled something. My rival, the little red-headed twat who continued to talk loads of trash to me despite being readily handed his own ass, was in town. This usually meant he would challenge me. I grinned a bit because I knew the pleasure of dismantling him would once again be mine, but for safety's sake I tried to remember what his lineup was.

Let's see...Gastly, check. Zubat, check. Bayle--

I stopped before I could finish the thought. Jaws and Cole seemed to already know what I was thinking, because they looked back up at me as if to say "you know we're both weak to grass, right?"

Realizing my predicament and not wanting to suffer any casualties, I had to ponder what my next move would be. Clearly I needed a third pokemon on my team, but where would I obtain one? I couldn't venture into Ilex forest because my rival would certainly challenge me before I made it. Also I had already encountered a pokemon in every area I had visited so far except...

The proverbial light bulb blinked on above my head. It suddenly dawned on me that I had never encountered a wild pokemon in Slowpoke Well. And we all know what you can find in deep, dank, and dark places...

ZUBAT!

Ah yes, Zubat. The wonderful Poison/Flying type pokemon who just so happened to be 4x resistant to Bayleef's grass attacks.

What a delightfully perfect idea! I'll just skip on over to the well and...

I stopped again. Weren't there Slowpoke and Rattata in the well also? Neither of those would help me much against Bayleef, and I would risk encountering one of them first before I encountered a Zubat, thus nullifying my chances of progressing in my quest. I gulped, seeing the odds in front of me. After standing there for a minute, I conceded to the fact that I had no choice, and began that climb down into the moist abyss. As I passed through the cave entrance, I trudged around in the soft dirt for a bit, praying all the while that my first encounter would be the pokemon I needed. Before long I heard that familiar music begin to play, and the world spun. I almost couldn't look! But I had to, and sure enough, there in front of me was a...

ZUBAT!

Brilliant. The Pokemon gods had seen fit not to utterly dash my chances of ever finishing the game. Armed with Cole's delicate Rock Smash, I took a couple of light taps at the Zubat so as not to knock it completely out. It was a close call, but I managed to keep it alive. As the pokeball slammed shut, my hope was restored. Feeling lighthearted and lightfooted, I gave my newly acquired female Zubat the most appropriate and fitting name I could conjure...

E...x...G...F...Ex GF! The perfect name for a blood-sucking cave dweller.

This of course concluded my business in the well, so Cole, Jaws, Ex GF and I climbed up the ladder and back into daylight (or dusklight, if you care about time). However, there was a minor problem still. Ex GF was only level 5. This of course meant I would need to do some fun grinding to get her into a range where she could effectively combat my rival's menacing Bayleef.

Well, that's that then. After restoring Ex GF's health at the nearby Pokecenter, I decided the best place to get her some battle experience would be in the depths of Union Cave. So, with Cole and Jaws in support and the help of an inspirational montage, I began the grueling process of whipping Ex GF into fighting shape. Slowly but surely, I whittled away at wild Sandshrews and Geodudes, inching closer and closer to my goal. I deemed it prudent to achieve the 17th level, as Zubat would most likely benefit from learning her STABbed and super effective Wing Attack. So, naturally, I continued grinding for about 18.5 more hours. Finally, just as Ex GF was running out of PP for the 5th time, she assimilated the Wing Attack into her repertoire.

Having completed the long and arduous grind, I headed back into town. After stopping off at the Pokecenter to heal my Ex GF's wounds, we were finally ready to take on that faggy little carrot top. Sure enough, as I walked toward the gate into Ilex Forest I heard his obnoxious voice behind me.

"Hi, I'm going to talk some more trash to you and pretend I am not aware of my certain and impending doom!"

Of course I made short work of Gastly and Zubat. Jaws tanked them like the Germans did to the French in World War II. When it came time for Bayleef to emerge, I switched to my Ex GF to see how she would measure up. Immunity to Bayleef's Poisonpowder was a huge plus, and being 4x resistant to Razor Leaf wasn't bad either. Reflect was a bit of a pain in the ass, as it limited the damage of Wing Attack to the point that Razor Leaf was beginning to wear on me. Realizing that Wing Attack alone was not enough, I instructed Ex GF to confuse Bayleef with a Supersonic! This plan worked like a charm, and after a couple of well-timed "hurting itself"s, Bayleef and its master were defeated. After being handily crushed by me, the most logical next step of course was for him to talk some more trash about how weak I was. After his tantrum, he disappeared in the other direction.

After resting once again at the pokecenter, I wasted no time in plodding through Ilex Forest. Making use of Repels as I had no interest in the pokemon within, I quickly ran down the winding paths. Along the way, a nice man taught my Cole how to properly bash people with those rocky eyebrows of his. After emerging from the forest, Goldenrod City was visible in the distance. I discarded a few trainers along the path without much difficulty (except that damn Snubbull, he was a dick. Honestly how intimidating is a bulldog puppy?), and made my way into the city. I ran a few errands in the underground and at the radio tower in order to prepare myself for challenging the Gym. In the process, Cole and Ex GF both evolved! Excited and pumped up, I breezed through the Normal type gym. Even Whitney's cheating Miltank was no match for Cole, who downed the speedy cow with just two Rock Smashes. Of course I made Whitney cry, which is what I do to all the bitches and hos that try to be all up in my grill. After receiving my third Badge, I decided it was time again to stop for the night. At the conclusion of this chapter, my team is as follows:

"Jaws" [pimg]159[/pimg] Male L21

Surprised nobody's caught my obscure reference with Togepi's nickname yet :)
I googled it and got Adlai Stevenson, a politician who ran for president three times and lost each time :/

Anyway, fucked up royally with the whole "catch Larvitar" thing. I saw that there was a part of Mt.Silver where I had already caught everything you could find there except Donphan and Larvitar. So I needed to catch Donphan. In order to guarantee I got Donphan I needed to catch Ponyta, Doduo, and Tangela, which I did, then I caught Donphan. All I needed to do was go to the proper area in Mt. Silver and I was set. Except I decided to do this on the bus and wasn't sure if going up outside counted as going up a floor. I ended up going up a floor too many and now I have a new Quagsire to show for my efforts -_- On the bright side, I can now start grinding so I can finally finish my challenge - besides, if all goes well I shouldn't even need that Larvitar anyway.
If I lose a Pokemon against Red I will be SO pissed.

Because during the campaign in 1952, Adlai Stevenson was labeled as an "egghead" by Stewart Alsop.^^

Naturally, "Adlai" would be a perfect name for a Togepi. xDD Lolz.

Ha, If I wouldn't have had to write a report on Adlai Stevenson my senior year in school, I wouldn't have known this at all. Lol Oh man, I can't believe I even remembered this.

Part 1:
Started my game. Named my character Zombeh.
Barged into May's house.
Met May.
Left.
Tried to skip town, saw a pussy getting chased by a Poochyena.
Picked Treecko (Mason, Relaxed, Lv. 5)
Mason pwnd Poochy.
Went back to the Lab, then left to meet May.
Went all the way to May, pwning as i went.
Had a close encounter with a Zigzagoon (taken down to 2HP)
rushed to the Pokecenter, then back up to May.
Owned her, then went back home.
Got 5 Pokeballs, Running shoes, then went on my way.
Made it to Route102, caught a Female Wurmple (Beatrice, Lonely, Lv. 2)

Almost lost to that Lass at the end of the Route (idk her name)
Lvl. Grindan!!!
Beatrice evolved!!! (SilcoonFTW)
Rushed to the PKMN Center, and the team stands as this.

Part 2:
Headed off to the forest.
Caught a Zigzagoon (Evelyn, Mild, Lv. 5)

Went to train Evelyn on Route 102.
Picked up Rare Candy, Repel, Protein, Full Heal, and Super Potion (x2)
Trained til Lv. 9.
Went to the forest, Caught a Taillow (Tony, ???, Lv. 5)
Made it through the forest without losing anyone. (Came close against that Magma Grunt, (BAN ME PLEASE) kept spamming Howl)

Beatrice evolved!!!

Lost Tony against the Lass with the Lotad and Seedot. D; (R.I.P. Tony, You were a great Pokemon)
Went to the gym, and destroyed the trainers.
Faced Roxanne and almost lost Beatrice to Geodude.

Switched in Mason, and swept. ;D
Went to the PKMN Center, and here is my team after Roxanne:

After all that junk, and then getting the PokeNav, I head to Mr. Briney's house.
On the way there, I decide to train Nate a bit.

Update 4:
Off to Slateport!! ^^

I decide to stick Michael in the lead so I can train him up a bit.
As I step off Briney's boat in the Slateport harbor, a Sailor is there. I challenge him, thinking it would be easy...
Stupid Surf on a Zigzagoon. >>

I lost Michael AND Nate.
/Heartbreak. D;
SO, to compensate for my loss, I head above Slateport to catch something.
First battle is an Electrike (Ike, Serious, Lv. 12)

So then I try to find the guy that gets the Devon Goods. (I can't remember his name... should write this stuff down xD)
They send me to the Museum to find him, but our conversation gets interrupted by Team Magma.

Easy as crud... xDD

Lol, wewt. xDD

Came out without losing anyone. :3

After that, I run off up past Slateport again to continue my quest...
I fought all the trainers up to May, and then I challenged her.
I ALMOST lost Ike. o.O

After I get past her I head up to Mauville... and face Wally after I hit up the PKMN Center.

Almost got Ike. >>
Anyways, finished him off, then ran to the PKMN Center.

UPDATE 5

After healing up at the PKMN Center, I decide to head up and take on the Winstrate Family. I made it through unscathed (well, i didn't lose anyone.)
RUBY26.jpg

I head down to Route 110 to grind a bit more, and train up some of my weaker Mons.
I almost lost Mason to PSN. >>
RUBY29.jpg

then I rush to the PKMN center and barely make it.
RUBY30.jpg

wow, only 5HP left. xDD

After all that, I run over to Route 117, and fight some trainers to Lv. Up. Don't lose anyone in the process, but I realize that the Poke's I have aren't gonna cut it against Watson... and I can't get anything else to help...
I do run on over to Route 118 and fish for a Magikarp (Tony, Lv. 10, ???)
RUBY32.jpg

The next bit is all grindin'. >> and I did it hard.
here is some pics of the results. ^^
RUBY33.jpg

Wewt ^^ Evelyn Evolved!!
and:
RUBY34.jpg

Gary becomes a Gyarados!!
Well, after a bit more grindin', i end up with this team:
RUBY35.jpg

(NOTE: i actually went and did some more training after this SS, and i forgot i didn't have the pic. :/ The Levels of Evelyn went up to 25, and Gary moved up to 23.)
I decide to go take on Watson, and here is how it went.
I start off the battle against his Magnemite. I sent out Ike. I use T-Wave, and then spam Howl until I get a few more Atk levels, then I spam Quick Attack til he uses his 2 potions on it.

Then he sends out his Voltorb, and I immediately use T-Wave again. He uses Sonic Boom, and takes Ike down to 2HP, so I switch him out. I send in Gary, cause I know what is coming next... Selfdestruct.

I know, I sacrificed my Gyara, but I am attached to the others, and Gary was the new kid. :/ He played his part, and became the 5th Pokemon of mine to hit the grave. You will be missed <3.

Now comes Magneton.
I made a gutsy call when it came to this first turn... I sent in Beatrice. Turn One went something like this:

Beatrice used Stun Spore!
Foe's Magneton is paralyzed,
It may not be able to attack!
Foe's Magneton is fully paralyzed!

PARAHAX!!! <3 The RNG decided to love me in this stage of the match. :D The reason I say this is because Magneton wasn't able to attack Beatrice, AND when I sent in Evelyn to clean up with Rock Smash, it only got in one attack (Sonic Boom)

I finished off Magneton, and won the match. ^^

I head to the PKMN Center and heal, my team is as follows:

RUBY37.jpg

STAY TUNED!!

NTS: Actually read the article before giving up next time -_-
I have begun the final grind, though I probably won't be done for a few days; getting 6 Pokemon from 59-60 to 75 while fighting level 43-44 wild Pokemon takes a while -_- Goddammit Game Freak why couldn't you raise the Mt. Silver Pokemon to the 50s or something?

EDIT @ below: It's a pretty neat style, shame your rival isn't his usual jackass self but it can't be helped.
