Default Dragonitemare [Retired, Free to use]

Recently, I have lost interest in playing Pokemon anymore. Because of this, I am hereby retiring this team until further notice. It is free to use for anything you need, including my sets.
Dragonitemare
~~~A Generation V OU RMT by KorKonT~~~
Version 2.8 5/20/2012
At A Glance:
Hello, and welcome to a newer version of my latest team previously known as SynergyDance.
This team is based around Dragonite and is a very modified adaption of my old Smashpassing teams, with so many modifications I cannot even remember them all. Meet my latest and Greatest team, Dragonitemare!
Team Building Process:
...
The Glue
Latias @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Calm Mind
- Dragon Pulse
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Recover
One of the more recent changes to my team, Latias focuses on being a defensive powerhouse. The EV spread allows for being capable of outrunning many things it needs to. The Calm Mind set is used in order to keep the team a bit more defensively paced. Latias provides great type synergy and helps take out many things I would otherwise have trouble with. Very valuable and does better then the previous Latios.
Considered Changes:
...
Type Synergy Overview:
...
The Knockout
Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Pursuit
- U-turn
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
This is what makes this team what it is. Without Scizor, I would not be able to perform the sweeps with dragonite I have done. Bullet Punch takes out Tyranitar, Aerodactyl, Terrakion, and quite a few others that can threaten Dragonite. Superpower allows me to have a fighting chance against select threats, such as Blissey or perhaps if I need to take out a Tyranitar right away. Pursuit is a valuable move which allows me to trap and kill things like Choiced Drago Meteor/Outrage dragons. U-turn allows scouting and a safe entrance for Dragonite most of the time. Very valuable to my team, like all of its members. It also is one of the main walls(including Heatran) to absorb blows heading towards many of the team members.
Type Synergy Overview:
...
The Stall
Mew @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 148 Def / 108 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Taunt
- Psychic
- Will-O-Wisp
- Softboiled
The best Mew in my opinion, this monster absolutely demolishes the competition with its stalling abilities. The EVs allow it to survive pursuits and Crunches from even the likes of Tyranitar while still giving enough special bulk to keep it alive. The speed is just enough to outspeed what it needs to and gets the burn on them. The burn allows it to survive a potential 2HKO and heal off the damage with Softboiled while the enemy gets worn down. Taunt keeps me from being phazed and set up apon while Ice Beam takes care of a few threats to my team, such as Dragonite and Gliscor, without me having to stall them out. Gets dead-stopped by Heatran, but that isn't an issue with Tentacruel and my Heatran on my team.
Type Synergy Overview:
...
The Cruel Night
Tentacruel (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Protect
Tentacruel replaced an older Starmie and I haven't looked back. It's the perfect compliment to my Mew, with Scald stalling(while hurting Heatran) and Toxic Spikes support while fulfilling the purpose of Rapid Spinning that Starmie did. With acceptable speed, it also keeps my pace going well. Protect allows me to get an extra burn/toxic damage while seeing what the opponent is going to try next(locks choice into place too!). I wonder why I hesitated adding this beast onto my team. Hasn't disappointed.
Type Synergy Overview:
...
The FurnACE
Heatran (F) @ Air Balloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock
The anti-sun for my team, Heatran works as a counter for both other Heatran and most members of sun teams, such as Volcarona. Hidden Power Ice allows for the ability to kill Dragonite and ground-types. Because water-types are almost always specially-based they almost never succeed in getting an OHKO which allows me to get a kill on them. The Speed allows me to outpace a lot to get important kills, such as those against Sun teams and other Heatran. Stealth Rock helps Dragonite get the important kills while preventing a large number of switching. Pretty much dead-stopped by Rotom-W, so Latias and Mew are needed to beat it.
Type Synergy Overview:
...
The 'Nitemare Itself
Dragonite (M) @ Lum Berry
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 4 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- ExtremeSpeed
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Dragon Dance
Look at this beauty of a Pokemon and try to say to my face it isn't the most amazing Dragon of all time. The purpose of Dragonite is to set-up on pretty much everything that isn't carrying burn or paralysis and proceed to sweep. After just one boost, the enemy will have switched into a wall or phazer to get rid of him, which either results in a painful 2HKO or me switching to the likes of Latias or Scizor. Switching onto sweepers and getting a boost is something only a pokemon as bulky as Dragonite can muster. It usually requires Stealth Rock to be up and for Tentacruel to clear the field to be effective, however. The most important member of my team by far.
Type Synergy Overview:
Offensive Threatlist: Main Threats: 4, Wobbuffet, Conkeldurr, Latios, Vaporeon
Code:
Offensive Threats - Problems in bold, partial issues in italics.
   Tyranitar:
  • Choice Band - I switch into Scizor to see what it does next. I will usually use a U-turn which does about 80% damage.
  • Choice Scarf - See Choice Band
  • Dragon Dance - A rarity, this Pokemon still falls to the power of a scizor's bullet punch. It'll always go down because of no defensive investment.
Rotom-W: Not an issue, taken out by Heatran's Hidden Power Grass or Latios' Draco Meteor Scizor: Heatran stops all versions of it. Because it is slow it won't be able to get a superpower on me unless Fire Blast misses. If I miss, I go with Dragonite and its Fire Punch. Dragonite: All sets are taken out by Latios' Draco Meteor or Mew's Ice Beam Politoed: Most of my team can OHKO it. Not much of an issue. Heatran: Handled by my Heatran very well...unless they are Timid and wearing an Air Balloon. If they are Timid, I have a chance of losing the entire battle between a 80% hydro pump accuracy and a speed tie. Otherwise Heatran can simply HP grass and then Earth Power it. Of course, if I get Stealth Rock up I will beat it, but alas, Heatran has trouble getting in on the current metagame. Jirachi:
  • ParaFlinch - A pain, but it usually falls to Mew and its power of Synchronize.
Latios:
  • Life Orb/Expert Belt - Expert Belt can be a pain with its surprise factor, but both are usually taken out by Scizor's Bullet Punch with a followup Extremespeed.
  • Choice Scarf / Specs - Can be Absorbed by Scizor, proceed to predict the switch with pursuit or U-turn.
  • Calm Mind - Can be scary to my team. As I have nothing that can outspeed it, if it is running HP Fire there is nothing I can really do to beat it. Luckily it isn't used terribly much.
Reuniclus:
  • Calm Mind - Not as dangerous as Latios as I can outspeed it, but still an issue.
  • Offensive Trick Room - Rarely seen, killed by Scizor unless carrying HP fire, which is even less common.
Haxorus:
  • Choice Scarf / Choice Band - Band is killed by -2 Draco Meteor or Dragon Claw, but the Scarf is handled similar to other choice, with Scizor being switched in to absorb the damage and then proceed with what the oponent does.
  • Dragon Dance - See Dragonite
  • Double Dance - See Dragon Dance
Ninetales:
  • Nasty Plot -
  • Choice Specs -
  • Special Attacker -
Conkeldurr:
  • Bulk Up - oh this thing. I can't scald/W-o-W stall it, Dragonite can't set up apon it, and oposing teams usually carry something that gets my Latios out of the game(I've even seen wobbuffet. It's impossible to beat that.)
Celebi:
  • Nasty Plot Sweeper -
  • Tinkerbell -
  • Choice Specs / Choice Scarf -
Terrakion:
  • Double Dance -
  • Choice Scarf / Choice Band -
Gyarados:
  • Offensive / Bulky Dragon Dance -
Gengar:
  • Substitute + Disable / Pain Split -
Starmie:
  • Life Orb -
  • Rapid Spin -
  • Choice Specs -
Landorus:
  • Rock Polish / Swords Dance -
  • Choice Scarf -
  • Substitute + 3 Attacks -
Infernape:
  • Mixed Attacker -
  • Nasty Plot / Swords Dance Booster -
  • Choice Band -
Volcarona:
  • Offensive Quiver Dance -
  • Bulky Quiver Dance -
  • Chesto Rest -
  • Substitute -
Magnezone:
  • Substitute -
  • Choice Scarf -
Espeon:
  • Calm Mind -
Salamence:
  • Dragon Dance -
  • Mixed -
  • Defensive -
Hydreigon:
  • Offensive -
  • Choice Specs / Choice Scarf -
Breloom:
  • Sub Seed -
  • Sub Punch -
Latias:
  • Calm Mind -
Toxicroak:
  • Swords Dance -
  • Bulk Up -
Lucario:
  • Swords Dance -
  • Nasty Plot -
Virizion:
  • Calm Mind -
  • Swords Dance -
Scrafty:
  • Dragon Dance -
  • Bulk Up -
Venusaur: As long as my field is clear of entry hazards, Heatran w/ active balloon takes it out. otherwise I rely on Dragonite and its Extremespeed. Metagross: All sets taken out by Heatran, rocks taken off the field by Starmie. Mienshao:
  • All-Out Attacker -
  • Choice Scarf / Choice Band -
Cloyster:
  • Shell Smash - any special move or a combination between Bullet Punch and Extremespeed(especially if the Cloyster has no White Herb) will take it out
Mamoswine:
  • Physical Attacker - lol
Darmanitan:
  • Choice Scarf - Never seen, but it's bait for my Heatran(Darmanitan always uses Flare Blitz) to use Stealth Rock or to give Dragonite a turn of setup, because Flare Blitz does nothing to it.
Tornadus:
  • Rain Abuser - Tricky to kill, but Starmie can usually handle it.
Defensive Threatlist: Vaporeon,
Code:
Defensive Threats -
 Vaporeon:
  • Standard - Taunt is all she wrote. Too bad I only have one taunter, otherwise this thing seriously puts a blow on everything in my team.
Tyranitar:
  • Specially Defensive - Scizor takes this out in a snap.
Rotom-W:
  • Standard - Somewhat easily stalled by Latias, Mew, or brute-forced by Dragonite.
Ferrothorn:
  • Standard - HP fire or Fire Punch or Superpower can kill it off easily.
Politoed:
  • Defensive - not a TERRIBLE deal, due to Latios and Heatran blowing its little green head off, but luckily it's setup bait for a bunch of my team.
Gliscor:
  • Swords Dance - Not enough power to do anything, screams for Mew to attack head-on.
  • Substitute + Protect - Mew has a tiny bit of issue with this, but it still gets destroyed by Ice Beam.
  • AcroBat - Not common, but Mew is still a hard counter.
  • Defensive - Mew hard counters all sets.
Heatran:
  • Specially Defensive - Taken out by Heatran's Earth Power and Starmie's Hydro Pump.
Jirachi:
  • Specially Defensive - Fire Punch, Hidden Power Fire, Fire Blast, and U-turn all can dent this guy, though it still takes a lot of effort to take down.
Skarmory:
  • Physically Defensive Spiker - All my special Pokemon have no issue, Mew can taunt it which renders it useless(especially with Will-o-Wisp from me.
  • Specially Defensive Spiker - doesn't exactly have enough special bulk to keep a Fire Blast or Hidden Power Fire from killing it.
Ninetales:
  • Specially Defensive - Isn't bulky anyways, blown to smithereens.
Celebi:
  • Physically Defensive - Scizor's U-turn followed by Dragonite's extremespeed or Latios to finish it off.
Forretress:
  • Physically Defensive Spiker - Taunt it, HP Fire it, Fire Blast it, it doesn't really matter. It's in my opinion a bad pokemon.
  • Specially Defensive Spiker - ooh, I'm so scared...
Gyarados:
  • Dragon Dance - Burn it early, ExtremeSpeed it after using Tentacruel to wear it down via Scald.
Jellicent:
  • Utility Counter - Falls victim to the power of Mew, my one-stop stallbreaker. Easily taunts and burns, using softboiled to recover damage and Ice Beam for wearing it down ever so slightly faster.
Tentacruel:
  • Toxic Spikes - Demolished by Heatran or Latios.
Gastrodon:
  • Tank - Due to Heatran using HP Ice, I must go by other means, such as stall, to kill it. Never fun.
Espeon: All taken out easily by a Pursuit Trap or U-turn by Scizor.
  • Dual Screens - Mew is useless against it, so I simply take the time to use it as setup bait. Yeah, the Reflect takes my power away a bit, but using it is two free turns of setup, one to use Reflect and one to switch out, an effective +2 Speed and +2 Attack Dragonite.
  • Baton Pass - see Dual Screens
Blissey:
  • Support - Scizor's Superpower takes it out easily.
Latias:
  • Support - Rarely seen, but taken out by Scizor's Pursuit trap or a Draco Meteor or +1/2 Dragon Claw
Bronzong:
  • Tank - Not TERRIBLY bulky and can't exactly hurt me back. Can be stalled out by Mew.
  • Dual Screens - Stalled out by Mew easily.
Swampert:
  • Defensive - must be stalled out. Latias can use Calm Mind to set up on it, however.
Mew:
  • Stallbreaker - as much of a pain as mine. But also like mine, it is dead-stopped by Heatran. If this is on the team I have to be wary and preserve Heatran.
Quagsire:
  • Curse - Little bit of an issue, but stalled out decent enough.
  • Specially Defensive - Have to stall or brute force it, which isn't fun.
  • Physically Defensive - see Curse
Hey,
Cool team you have here. Immediately I see a huge weakness to LO Heatran - your only way of actually getting through it is Latios which actually isn't very reliable as most offensive Heatran are paired up with Tyranitar which easily traps and KOes your dragon. To help remedy this weakness, I suggest switching out your Cloyster (which really seems to be out of place on this team) with Rapid Spin Starmie. Starmie is an excellent Heatran counter as it can take its Fire-type attacks and can KO back with Hydro Pump; the only thing Starmie fears from Heatran is Hidden Power Grass, bu as long as you don't play too obviously, this shouldn't be a problem. On top of being a great Heatran check, Starmie excels at being a great Rapid Spinner as well as many common spin blockers such as Gengar and Jellicent fear switching into a STAB Hydro Pump or a super effective Thunderbolt.
Rapid Spin Starmie
Offensive Heatran
Speaking of Heatran, it seems as though it would be a great fit on your team as your team currently seems to be a bit weak to sun teams. Volcarona, for example, can easily set up on Scizor and proceed to sweep right through your team in sunlight - your best bet is Dragonite, and if the opponent has Stealth Rocks up, it's almost a guaranteed defeat for your team. Heatran help here: due to its typing and ability, Flash Fire, it's one of the best checks to sun teams out there (heck, it even helps with your Heatran problem!); I recommend replacing Ferrothorn with it as it seems pointless on this team (its better suited for Spikes support, not Stealth Rock). Of course, this makes you a bit weak to rain teams, but in my opinion, between Latios, Starmie and Dragonite, it should be okay. Speaking of Latios, you may want to tweak the set a bit (I'm assuming you're running Choice Specs or a Life Orb on it currently as I can't tell which item it's holding - the image doesn't seem to be working). I suggest running the standard offensive set with an Expert Belt; it acts as an excellent wall-breaker and can net a few surprise KOes if played correctly.
Changes in Short
  • Rapid Spin Starmie over Cloyster
  • LO Heatran over Ferrothorn
  • Expert Belt Latios over current Latios (minor tweaks to the current set)
Your post addressed all of my issues and gave me fixes to all of my problems without adding any to them. You're great! Thank you.
I'll be testing the additions and editing my RMT and threatlists over the course of a few days. Also, the Latios was a Choice Scarf varient.
Also may i recommend changing your latios nature to timid instead of modest so you can outspeed and K.O opposing Latios.
I was already running a Timid nature, as it is the standard for Expert Belt Latios and I simply modified my old Latios set in this RMT and forgot to change it to Timid.
Thanks for noticing. changed.
Hey,
Pretty cool team. I really like the use of Mew. At a first glance, Rotom-W looks like it could be quite problematic since Latios has no source of recovery. The standard set can Will-O-Wisp every thing bar Heatran and Starmie and use his duel STABs to power through your team. A quick solve to this would be to put Recover over Psyshock on Latios. This will prolong his life letting him check Rotom-W more efficiently. Although Latias lacks the immediate power of Latios, she looks like she could make a good addition to your team. If you are going to try a set out, a HP Fire CM Latias could work over Latios. HP Fire Latias lures in Scizor just like Latios. Latias can also sweep pretty easily once all of her threats are eliminated. She is definitely worth a try.
Although Life Orb powers up Heatrans attacks quite a lot, I think an Air Balloon would work better over Life Orb. I would also put HP Ice over HP Grass. With these changes, Heatran can serve as an emergency check to Dragonite and Gliscor, wich are both KOd by HP Ice and will not be able to touch Heatran with his Air Balloon active. With Life Orb not wearing down Heatran as much, he can serve as a better check to Sun based teams. Air Balloon is quite nice as it gives you many opportunities to set up Stealth Rocks or attack. The opponent will have to waste a turn trying to break Heatran's Air Balloon while you have a free turn to do anything, really putting you at an advantage.
Lastly, Conkeldurr looks like he can be a large threat to your team. Since Starmie has Leftovers over Life Orb, she can not inflict enough damage to stop his sweep. Although I like Ice Beam on Mew a lot better than Psychic, it is definitely worth it to use Psychic over Ice Beam on Mew to give you means of dealing with Conkeldurr.
In a nutshell,
  • Recover > Psyshock on Latios or CM HP Fire Latias > Latios
  • Air Balloon > Life Orb on Heatran
  • HP Ice > HP Grass on Heatran
  • Psychic > Ice Beam on Mew
Pretty cool team! GL.
I cannot use Psychic on Mew. Mew is what I use to take out Gliscor and unboosted Dragonite, which is why I do not run HP Ice on Heatran. I cannot think of any immediate thing that life orb really helps me get a kill, so I'll try an air ballooon. Psyshock is used for walls that would normally dead-stop an expert belt, so it is required. I do not want to use a setup Lati as it doesn't have immediate power.
I do like the majority of your team although mew is banned in the vgc (saying that this is a vgc team) anyways i'd replace dragonite with a salamance or a garchomp. Dragonite is underclassed compared to those heavy hitters. Heatran in my opinion just has too many weaknesses and is outclassed by some other fire types. Possibly a ninetales or a chandelure if youre looking for fire. Scizor is a pretty good choice other than being pwned by fire but scizor always frightens me when im up against it. If you're looking for a support psychic type id advice a cresselia. It has much better defensive stats than mew and has great support
I think you're in the wrong section, OhnoHo-Oh, this is a Smogon OU team, not a VGC. Garchomp isn't allowed either and its terrible advice anyways to think of replacing Dragonite, which is very solid in my said team. I don't understand what you mean by Dragonite being underclassed, with its ability Multiscale it becomes infinitely better than both(outside of weather).
HP Ice can work as a substitute for Ice Beam. Psychic is necessary to beat Conkeldurr, unless you want to get swept. Recovery is almost necessary on Latios as well to beat Rotom-W more efficiently.
I have discovered a newfound hatred for Wish Vaporeon. I find my team is unable to kill it, ever. Help would be appreciated.
Also, Thundur, you bring up a good point. I'll test out the changes.
i do realize that this was the OU thread :P it just seemed like a VGC team is all. Latios and Scizor scream "vgc" to me. and multiscale is good i agree but a haxorus dragon dance is just as good.
since your starmie already has thunderbolt you could possibly put an electric gem on it to increase the power. taunt is also a good move on a vaporeon basically rendering it helpless
duh >.< what am I thinking! taunt! I have no Vaporeon issue. =P
EDIT: After some threatlist additions, I realize just how important my current setup is, making me forget my doubts and keeping Ice Beam on Mew and HP Grass on Heatran.
While i see why you use starmie , i just feel like you already have 2 pokes weak to Ttar, and once scizor is dead i see you struggling with choice variants... Starmie is just pursuit bait beside latios and even mew. although mew will survive... Im wondering if you've considered tentacruel? adding Tspikes to your aresenal and still get rapid spin?
just an idea but overall very nice and well built team :)
Oh and side note, tenta can toxic Vaporeon and and be a nuisance in general
Right now Starmie and Mew are mixed bags. I'm feeling they could go at any time and are partially holding the team back from doing exceedingly well. At the same time, however, Starmie is my go-to for electric attacks and a last resort for Heatran, two things that help out greatly. and Mew has proven its worth as the best burn staller in the game. So I don't know really. and Choice tyranitar isn't TOO common.
Well As i said earlier tenta does everything your looking for starmie to do but with more bulk also employing TSpikes, if your not as satisfied with mew, perhaps reuniclus? any variant your comfortable with. But yeah while ttar isnt as commonly seen choiced , even reuniclus can dent tran and ttar
My team doesn't really need Toxic Spikes or Spikes support as it really just isn't nesessary. Because the team is based mostly on speed and setup sweeping, I'm not sure if Reuniclus would fit. But I'll consider the two after a little extra thinking.
This team is incredible. First of all, Reuniclus doesn't mesh well with the high speed of this team, and a Trick Room variant would be counterproductive, so Mew should stay. Psychic over Psyshock on Latios would take care of Conkeldurr, as previously mentioned, but it has so many other uses that it doesn't warrant a change.
I also think that Life Orb should be swapped for Air balloon on Heatran, as it is helps on the switch in, and negates the Rocks/Spikes damage because it acts like a makeshift Levitate. Besides, the 10% isn't really noticeable on Heatran, so you should at least give it a try.
Finally, Starmie gives you the Electric attack that you need on this team. Although Tentacruel would be better in general for Toxic/Toxic Spikes/Rapid Spin/Spikes (Surf, Scald), and be an annoyer, while still being bulky enough to lay Rocks, Spikes, and spin off opponent's Rocks, giving Dragonite a great switch in. If the electric attack is that important to you, you could HP Electric someone. But I think that in the long run, Tentacruel would be a better idea to invest in.
In short:
Keep Mew over Reuniclus
Psychic over Psyshock is marginal, testing is needed
Air Balloon>Life Orb on Heatran
Tentacruel>Starmie for poison/burn spreading while still acting as a spinner.
Nice team man. it looks pretty solid and should hit hard. I would put psychic on Latios to take out conkeldur however. Psychoshock would just be to hit Blissey and Chansey really and without LO or specs EB can't really do that. Your team is offensive enough to handle them anyway Good Luck.
