Tournament Round 2! Tortferngatr vs. Temperantia! [WON BY TORTFERNGATR]

Status
Not open for further replies.
Brandon walked into the referee's booth in the ASB Arena. He'd been here a few times to ref practice matches, but never for an actual tournament match. The usually-empty arena was now jam-packed with screaming fans, ready to watch a tournament battle between two great trainers. The trainers made their final preparations while Brandon addressed the crowd. Speaking into the microphone, he said, "Hello everyone, and welcome to the ASB Arena, where we're about to witness an amazing battle between Victor and the duo of Lenneth and Laharl! The rules are as follows:"

2v2 Singles
Switch=KO
2 Recovers/5 chills
All abilities

2 day DQ

"The ASB Arena is ready to roll! You guys are safely protected behind a shield which also prevents any interference from the crowd! The ground is perfect for both digging and seismic activity, and the moat around the edge acts as both a water source for Surf and a new terrain for battle to take place! Now then, the trainers seem to be ready to release their Pokemon!" Sure enough, Victor unleashed Float the Krillowatt while Lenneth and Laharl responded with Eclipse the Honchkrow! "And there we are! Looks like Victor has the early advantage, but it's still anyone's game! Any moment now the Pokemon should show up on the scoreboard so that you guys can know what's coming up next! And there they are!"

Tortferngatr, you're up!

A note to Temperantia: Tort actually won't be back to post till Tuesday, but he shouldn't go over DQ. He PMed me orders to post for him in case he didn't make it back in time though, so if the two days pass and there's still no word from him I'll post those orders. I hope that's acceptable! ^_^

"Wild Charge, Ice Beam, Wild Charge!

BTW, I bought Protect with the other 2 MC in the tourney Prize Claiming thread but forgot to post it. Not like it matters, but should it get put in?

Laharl is distressed immediately after observing his opponent's Pokemon. He calculates the odds of winning at less than 20%, then orders Eclipse.
"It seems... There's no easy way out, Eclipse. Sucker Punch Float, then Thunder Wave Kril. We might get some Hax yet... Finally, Sucker Punch Float again."

Protect has been added to Krillowatt's movepool since it was my mistake it wasn't there in the first place. It was claimed later on in the thread so it wasn't on the Krillowatt I c/ped from Tort's first prize claim. Also Tort I just realized from Temporal Triples that your RPing name is Victor so I'll use that instead if you don't mind, makes more sense.

"Here we go ladies and gentlemen! Float is opening up with a powerful... but what's this? It seems like Eclipse is hurt! How can... oh! He was fooling Float into stopping her attack and now he's smacking her with a Sucker Punch! Ouch! Float didn't like that and now she's completing her attack, a powerful Wild Charge! That hurt a lot! Looks like Float's Magic Guard is keeping it safe from the recoil too. Good for her!

Float isn't done either! Looks like she's preparing herself, and there goes an Ice Beam! Ouch, that caught a weak spot! A critical hit is not what Lenneth and Laharl needed right now! Looks like Eclipse is laying off the offensive and firing a Thunder Wave at Float! That'll slow her down, and she might even seize up completely!

Float is continuing her offensive, but- wait, why is she stopping again? Oh, Eclipse seems to be trying to seduce the Krillowatt now? That doesn't make much- oh, wait, another Sucker Punch. That's one tricky Honchkrow! Float isn't going to stand for much more of that though, and smashes into Eclipse hard with another Wild Charge! And with that, we're at the end of the round! Float has a pretty big advantage; it's going to be tough for Lenneth and Laharl to turn this around, but Victor can't get cocky just yet; I've seen those two battle before and they have more than a few tricks up their sleeves!"

That's not good for her, but look! She's recovered already, and is firing a lightning-fast Ice Shard at Eclipse! That did some good damage, but not enough to finish the Honchkrow off, and now Eclipse is taking the time to Roost and recover some health!

Feeling a bit better, Eclipse is following up with a Haze! Oh wow, now neither of the Pokemon can see! Thankfully our technology lets us see through the smoke! And now Float's trying to hit Eclipse with a Wild Charge... nope! Just missed him too! As the smoke starts to clear, the gap in health between the two Pokemon is smaller than it was at the start of the round, but Lenneth and Laharl still have an uphill battle ahead of them!"

Float has prepared a nasty Toxic for Black Swan, and she's firing it... hey! It actually hit! Oh, but it looks like Black Swan is going on the offensive now! And holy crap that's a scary Hex attack, but Float threw up a timely Protect to avoid it! Unfortunately she's exhausted now, and she won't be able to dodge what comes next... and it's another Hex! "Alright, both trainers have sent out their final Pokemon! Can Freeze take it home for Victor or will Lenneth and Laharl lead Black Swan to a comeback victory? Let's find out! Freeze is going first, and it looks like he's setting up a Substitute! According to our tech that thing has 20 HP, and it looks like it was set up just in time as Black Swan is using a Icy Wind! The sub took that easily, and is still standing. It also took that speed lowering side effect that was intended for Syclant!

Now that he has some protection, Freeze is going on the offensive with a Stone Edge... but wait! Even with his Compoundeyes he can't seem to find Black Swan in the hail... and that's a miss! Black Swan, following orders, is firing another Icy Wind, but that substitute is still holding strong! It's going to take a bit more strength than that to break that substitute!

Looks like Freeze is changing tactics, and eek! What is that noise? Apparently it's a Struggle Bug! That'll hurt Black Swan's concentration, lowering her Special Attack! But at least she's finally changing it up! There goes a Shadow Ball, and yes! The substitute finally breaks! Tortferngatr, you're up!

"AlRIGHT!

Let's set up another Substitute-20 HP this time, hit Froslass with a Technician Water Pulse, then Protect!

If Froslass Protects turn 2, use Tail Glow!"

"...I'm sorry, Froslass. This didn't turn out how I hoped it would, but I'll be damned if I don't try! Shadow Ball, then Ominous Wind. Finish with Double Team x2!"

"And here we go again! Freeze is starting off the round with a proven tactic, setting up another Substitute! Looks like this one has 20 HP as well! Will Black Swan have better luck taking this one out? It seems like it; she's not wasting any time and going straight for a Shadow Ball! That won't break the sub, but it's not looking nearly as sturdy as it did before!

Now that he has his protection, Freeze is going back on the offensive, and taking full advantage of Technician to fire a boosted Water Pulse at Black Swan! Even with the Hail masking her Freeze's Compoundeyes have locked on, and that's a hit! And what's this? It looks like the blow scrambled Black Swan's brain a bit as well! That's some slight confusion there, folks! But it looks like she's shaken it off, at least for now, and there goes an Ominous Wind! And there goes Freeze's sub!

Looks like Freeze doesn't want to take any damage, so he's putting up a Protect! Looks like Black Swan knew this was coming though, and she's using Double Team! And now there's three Froslass hidden in the hail... wait! The hail is slowly coming to an end! Looks like all three Froslass clones are out in the open, but Freeze will still have to find the real one before he can finish this match off!"

Temperantia, you're up!

"Froslass, spray Toxic mist at our opponent! If he uses Substitute, use Shadow Ball instead. Follow with either Hex if Freeze is poisoned or Ominous Wind if he isn't. Finally, Chill to finish the round."

I understand, Flamestrike.

Of course, given Froslass no longer has Snow Cloak protecting her, and she hasn't given a Disable substitution for Stone Edge...

"Alright-Struggle Bug-it's a spread attack, so it will hit ALL the clones AND the real Froslass at once! After that, Stone Edge the real Froslass twice! With Toxic racking up and your CompoundEyes, it's a sure KO!"
