Well, well, folks, welcome to the Pokemon Stadium. Here we have a newcomer, VFXCross, up against one a relatively experienced competitor, shinyskarmory. Everyone, give a big hand to the new guy as he enters what is sure to be an epic battle!

The rules of the match are as follows:

Given that items were not mentioned, I will default to Items=Off, namely because both players don't exactly have top-notch caches of items.

Here are the teams of the players in question:

VFXCross' Team:

Deerling* [Daphne] (F)
Nature: Jolly (+15% Speed, +18% Accuracy, -1 SpA)
Type:
Normal: Normal STAB; adapt comfortably to any surrounding after 3 actions. Able to use Outrage without losing focus.
Grass: Grass STAB; Immunity to Leech Seed and Worry Seed. 50% reduction in status effect chance of oncoming "powder" attacks. More mobile in areas with strong natural light sources. Superior senses in tall grass and forest areas. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus.

Abilities:
Chlorophyl (Innate): During bright sunlight, this Pokemon’s cells absorb more solar energy, doubling (x2) their speed.
Sap Sipper (Innate): This Pokemon lives on a steady diet of plants and has developed defenses to every Grass-type attack. When attacked with a Grass-type move, damage and effects are negated and the Pokemon gains a one (1) stage attack boost. A boost gained this way by an opponent's attack will be maintained at the end of each round. Self-targeted attacks do not maintain boosts.
Serene Grace (DW) (Innate) [LOCKED]: This Pokemon has a blessing which doubles the success chance of its attack’s secondary effects. (eg paralysis from Thunderbolt)

Water: Water STAB; Can breathe and have excellent mobility when underwater, are less capable on land unless they are entirely amphibious.

Abilities:
Swift Swim (Innate): The Pokemon with this ability moves extremely fast in slick, rainy conditions, doubling (x2) its speed in the rain.
Shell Armor (Innate): This Pokemon’s thick, bony outer shell prevents it from taking critical hits.
Weak Armor (DW) (Can be Enabled) [LOCKED]:
The Pokemon can loosen its worn defensive armor so that it will break off when an opponent uses a contact attack, reducing the Pokemon's Defense and increasing their Speed by one (1) stage for each hit.

Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings

Abilities:
Compoundeyes (Innate): This Pokemon’s complex eyes give it a comprehensive view of the field, making its attack 30% (x1.3) more accurate.
Tinted Lens (Innate): When this Pokemon uses an attack that is normally not very effective, that attack is calculated at the next highest resisrance modifier. (e.g. 4x resistance is calculated at 2x, 2x resistance becomes neutral).
Run Away (DW) (Innate) [LOCKED]: This Pokemon is quick on its feet and will evade any field traps and hazards that would harm it (Spikes, Stealth Rock, Toxic Spikes) in an arena. A Pokemon can still absorb Toxic Spikes if it has Run Away and is Poison-typed. Run Away does not allow the Pokemon to switch out of trapping moves or abilities, however it can escape other situational trapping strategies in battle.

Ground: Ground STAB; Immune to all electrical attacks, can Dig through almost any substance, Evasive Digging reduced from 3 per action Energy Cost to 2 per action, superior senses in darkened cave surroundings.

Abilities:
Hyper Cutter: (Innate) This Pokemon always keeps its claws/teeth/pincers extremely sharp, and thus cannot have its attack reduced.

Arena Trap: (Innate) This Pokemon has great knowledge of the field and can always remain close to an earthbound foe no matter where it runs, flying opponents and levitating Pokemon are unaffected.

Sheer Force: (DW) (Can be Enabled) (Locked) This Pokemon can energize all its attacks with secondary effect chances less than 100%. When Enabled, the Base Attack Power of every move with an effect chance less than 100% increases by two (2), but they will never have a secondary effect.

(A note to shinyskarmory: your Scratchet has no nature listed and no stat modifications, so it can be: Bashful, Docile, Quirky, Hardy, or Serious. I expect you to put one of those in your profile for Scratchet - and since you've already battled with it, if you want a different nature, you'll have to buy it with 7 CC.)

Squaring off in the Pokemon Stadium, VFXCross and shinyskarmory each release their Pokemon: a Deerling for the first Trainer and a Scratchet for the second. Deerling charges at Scratchet to begin the battle - what's this? A knee crashes into Scratchet's head, dealing heavy damage. However, Scratchet is quick to respond by slamming Deerling into the ground, feeling some of the pain of the blow. Deerling then backs off, and starts hopping up and down - almost as if it's working itself up. Scratchet responds by settling into a deep crouch and flexing its muscles - it can't bulk up just by doing that, can it? At any rate, Deerling crashes into Scratchet once more, its increased strength matched by Scratchet's improved defenses. Scratchet responds with an even more powerful throw than before - perhaps that exchange in setup moves was not the most advantageous of plays for VFXCross...

The second round begins with a jolt of electricity from Deerling - Scratchet is clearly having trouble moving after that! It responds with an ill-considered loop of grass, strengthening Deerling due to its Sap Sipper. Deerling responds by covering Scratchet in Leech Seeds, while Scratchet slams it into the ground. Deerling manages to throw two kicks before finally succumbing to another throw... but Scratchet is at low health and burdened with status conditions. Can VFXCross still salvage a victory?
