Introduction

Welcome to Home Field Advantage. In this single man tournament, you will be placed in divisions where you must defeat your opponents around the league and more importantly, in your division. To have a good season, you must be knowledgeable in three different tiers. The top 2 players from each division will progress to the playoffs, and the best player will be determined there.

General Rules

• You are required to play only 1 game per week. You are allowed, and it is recommended, that you play more games quicker so that the season runs smoother.
• You will receive your schedule at the beginning of the season which will include your opponent and who is the home player.
• The home player can choose from one of the following tiers to be played: BW OU, BW Ubers, BW UU.
• The home player may choose a different tier to be played, but both sides must agree. The away player cannot refuse to play one of the three main tiers listed above.
• The current Smogon banlists will apply to this tournament.
• NO JOHNING. If you don’t visit the forum daily, don’t join this tournament. I will be looking for many substitutes to replace inactive players.
• The battles must be played on Pokemon Online using the Smogon University server, unless both players agree to play on a different server.
• The first and only tiebreaker will be Head to Head matchup.
• If you are the home player, please let your opponent know what tier you plan to play ahead of time. This gives the away player time to find a team they want to use.

Match of the Week

Snunch @ kd24 – Both players currently sit undefeated, and both players will be advancing to the playoffs. This matchup is all about playoff seeding. The winner of this match will clinch the brutal NPC South, while the loser will have to settle for 2nd place.

ALL matchups from Week 7 and Week 8 MUST be completed by the deadline below. Any incomplete matchups will be decided by me.


DEADLINE FOR WEEK 8 IS AT: 11:59 PM GMT -8 on SUNDAY, January 1st, 2012

It's lame that I don't get to advance to playoffs due to being subbed in for a guy with 0-1 start despite me defeating the dude he lost to. I spoke with some TDs; it was brought up that if you ever plan on hosting this again, you may want to consider starting the people you sub in with a clean slate (as in 0-0) to avoid situations like this (I mean, some people were subbed in for guys with 0-0, and others were subbed in for guys with a 0-1 record like me, giving them an unfair disadvantage). There are other details that need to be discussed if you do gives subs a clean slate (such as "this player defeated the player you subbed in for - would his win not count if he loses to the newly subbed in player?" As an example, Ojama defeated the guy I subbed in for, while I beat Ojama when I was subbed in). I won't go into that now, it's whatever - you did the best thing you could have given the situation. Just something to keep in mind for the future.

I'm sorry it came down to that, I had this plan set up before I started the tournament about subs taking the record of the person they are subbing for. I only understand your concern, however, because you DID beat Giga Punch, meaning if you had been 6-2 rather than 5-3, you would be in the playoffs instead of Giga Punch. I just didn't want to award you the win over Ojama back then because if I did that for one person, others might complain and want the same thing. Again, I'm sorry it came down to that. I have definitely learned some things about hosting a tournament, and I will make sure to implement them next time around.
