This thread will discuss the revamping of Fidgit.

The following is all canonical data for Fidgit:

Breezi:

breezi.png

Height: 1’0.
Weight: 6.6 lbs / 3 kg
Evolution: Breezi --> level up /w Iron Ball --> Fidgit
Type: Poison/Flying
Poison: Poison STAB; immunity to Poison/Toxic, see and breath through smog/smokescreens/haze uninhibited. Able to use Wrap and Bind without losing focus. Superior senses in urban settings.
Flying: Flying STAB; immunity to Ground attacks outside extremely odd circumstances even for ground-based flying Pokemon. Enhanced aerial mobility. Superior senses in open air arenas.
Abilities:
Persistent: (Innate) This Pokemon has a great affinity for odd field effects. When it uses one of these effects it increases their duration. Moves affected are Gravity, Heal Block, Lucky Chant, Magic Room, Safeguard, Trick Room, Tailwind, and Wonder Room by an additional one (1) round or three (3) actions depending on the move.
Vital Spirit: (Innate) This Pokemon has a high vitality and alertness making it immune to sleep induced by other Pokemon. Its normal state of sleeplessness makes it take 1 less damage/action from Ghost Curse. If it is put to sleep by a Pokemon with Mold Breaker it will wake up the next action.
Unburden(DW): (Innate) This Pokemon is incredibly possessive. If it uses or loses an item in battle its rage swells and its speed doubles (x2) until it receives another item.

Notes: The pre-vo movepools for 4th Gen are effectively shortened versions of Fidgit's movepool. This will be the case for all of the CAP projects.

1. 5th Generation Moves

Here is the list of 5th Generation Moves
.

5th Gen Moves currently on Fidgit:
Sand-Attack (Level-Up)
Magic Room (Level-Up)
Wonder Room (Level-Up)
Air Slash (Level-Up)
Entrainment (Level-Up)
Heal Pulse (Level-Up)
Razor Wind (Level-Up)
Wide Guard (Level-Up)
Chip Away (Egg Move)
Quick Guard (Egg Move)

TM Moves: What TMS should Fidgit learn in addition to any currently existing ones.

Note: Round is the only new universal TM.

5th Gen (and other) added TMs currently on Fidgit:
Venoshock
Telekinesis
Sludge Wave
Low Sweep
Round
Echoed Voice
Energy Ball (Added TM)
Ally Switch
Quash
Acrobatics
Retaliate
Struggle Bug
Bulldoze

2. Hidden Ability:

Fidgit's current Hidden Ability is Prankster, while Breezi's is Unburden. These abilities speak abundantly to Fidgit's function as a support mon and Breezi to its flavor. In general I like them but your opinions may vary.

3. Older Generation Moves

Are there any older moves that were missed that might be viable on Fidgit?
Suffice it to say Fidgit already has almost every conceivable support move (outside statuses) in older generations, it's mostly a question of which 5th generation moves to add to its list. There's a few oddball ones like Mist and Haze, and looking over the discussion we had at the time (July 2008 lol) we didn't rule anything out.

Discussion Guidelines:

Movepools are assumed to be stripped down to 4th Gen level. 5th Gen added moves are listed for convenience. If you propose an addition of a move, please provide at least two sentences with reasoning consistent with the flavor or competitive needs of the Pokemon. Do the same with abilities: The key here is reasoning. CAPs are already fairly strong, so if you can make a solid argument for an expansion (be it even something as simple as the Pokemon's theme.)

I personally do not understand why SBug is on the movepool. It's not a bug. :/

In other news, I would support Simple Beam and Heal pulse, if for no other reason than to accomodate its role as a supporter.

Some of the Current List:

Magic Room and Wonder Room are interesting options. We gave Fidgit Gravity and company in Gen IV to see if they'd work then, giving Fidgit the other rooms would be nice to it for now. I'd keep them.

Air Slash is a nice way to flesh out Breezi. I'd keep it.

Ally Switch is a dubious move on Fidgit, as it is only learned by some Psychic-types. Whether it should be kept or not probably depends on if Fidgit can actually support with it in Triples. I wouldn't keep it.

Struggle Bug is learned by a few things that look like bugs but aren't Bug-types (Gligar family, Trapinch family) so I'd say to keep it. Also a nice support move.

Adds:

While Force Palm is only learned by Fighting-types, Fidgit seems to have the flavor for a random palm-based move. It also already gets Body Slam for paralysis support.

Drill Run is probably better on Colossoil (where it will be almost certainly the first move mentioned,) but eh, Rhyhorn gets it. Seems like a good idea on Fidgit.

For flavor purposes, I think Focus Punch and DoubleSlap fit well with Fidgit's many hands. Its persistence should also support adding both moves. Otherwise, what's in the above posts.

Energy Ball and Ally Switch are the only moves it think should be removed, since they don't really seem to fit flavor wise, Ally Switch in particular doesn't seem to be too good cause even when Fidgit can use "magic" powers and stuff normally reserved by more mystic types, he does this with his hands, teleporting himself and an ally I think goes beyond this and doesn't fit too much, energy ball just seems like some random coverage

I agree with Gerard about ally switch and Energy Ball (although energy is common on a lot of pokemon so some more thought should be put into it before removing it). I also think Struggle Bug should be removed, Fidgit isn't a bug after all.

EDIT: Agreeing with SDS

I never understood why it didn't get any of the Elemental Punches (specifically Fire Punch and ThunderPunch, but not Ice Punch since generally mons don't get elemental punches they're weak to) since pretty much anything with arms gets E-Punches, and that's a boon Fidgit has in spades.

When Fidgit was originally created, it was focused on being a Pure Utility Pokemon and the decision was made for "bare bones offense." Thus to keep with that in general Fidgit is limited to STAB moves and, in the case of Breezi, and few "wind" attacks. Thus Fidgit gets little as far as direct damaging moves but has an expansive support movepool. It doesn't get Focus Punch because it's too Fidgety.

As far as absent support moves, Haze, Mist, and Clear Smog are not represented but each could work. Haze wasn't selected at the time of creation since it was figured phazing via Whirlwind would be generally superior. Naturally that was before Prankster would give Haze priority.

After some discussion on #capasb, I'll get this settled here and now:

Flavorwise, Fidgit is incapable of using attacks focused in the hand like punches, with the sole exception of Comet Punch, which is erratic by nature. This is why it does not have any punches or even Brick Break. Fidgit has gone through two revision processes and it never picked up Brick Break despite its supportive properties of removing the opponent's screens. As such, Punches and Brick Break are off limits.

I have been mulling over a few other moves however, and Acid Spray, Circle Throw, Clear Smog, After You and other more supportive functioning moves.

While honestly not even Troll Freak would restrict at least 1 more"focused" punching attack, I will concede defeat over the punches. As for Brick Break, I will point out briefly that alongisd ethe IRC discussion, one revision was concerned more with tutors, and the other was concerned with trimming Fidgit's movepool. It doesn't exactly take focus for something as handed as Fidgit to make a chop at an enemy. It's not erratic, but it's simple.

So now would be a good time to update. In general I'm going for less coverage and more support with this, as it's in line with Fidgit's concept. This will probably make a few people unhappy but I took a bit too much liberty with Fidgit when initially implemented in CAP ASB.

I meticulously went over Breezi and Fidgit's movepool and made a fair number of changes as far as attack availability.

Removed/Moved Attacks:
Chip Away, Energy Ball, and Sand-Attack have been removed. (+3MC for Chip Away, +2MC for Energy Ball, no change for Sand-Attack as a Pre-25 Move)
Acrobatics has been removed from Breezi and Fidgit's Level-Up but remain on Fidgit as a TM Move. (+1 MC for Breezi)
Block and Icy Wind have been removed from Breezi, but remain in Fidgit's 4th Gen Move tutor list. (+3 MC each for Breezi)

Added/Moved Attacks:
Clear Smog has been added to Breezi and Fidgit's Pre-25 Moves.
Circle Throw has been added to Fidgit's Pre-25 Moves.
Wide Guard has been moved to Fidgit's Pre-25 Moves.
Entrainment and Heal Pulse have been moved from Level-up to Egg Moves, and thus are no longer pre-25 moves.
Acid Spray, After You, and Haze have been added to Egg Moves.
Embargo has been added to TM Moves for both Breezi and Fidgit.

give fidgit bulk up. mostly just a flavour thing. but still, it would help with his move pool. or give it calm mind or some other stat based move.
also, please give it gravity. its underused, and could be a usefull (even if short) game changer.

Fidgit is not supposed to have a stat up move, as he is not a sweeper.

Plus, I'd like to add that we should try to keep gen IV or precedent move additions to a minimum, as those moves were already available when we made the Pokémon, and there probably is a reason (flavor or competitive) for which we didn't put them in.

I think Ally Switch definitely slipped under the radar. To give you an idea of just how exclusive that move is, only one line of Pokémon learns it by level-up (the Abra line), and there are perhaps only five or so other families which learn it by TM. Furthermore, all of these Pokémon are Psychic-typed.

I'm not sure how it fits on Fidgit.

I already know this, but decided it was a pretty cool kind of support to be able to Ally Switch with a Pokemon that was actually immune to Toxic and Thunder Wave.

Considering Fidgit aleady has +1 Bodyblock I don't see how switch helps him that much, other than also giving him a +1 Take cover at the same time (which might be a bit too much)

Ally Switch has +1 Priority so Fidgit will actually have +2 Priority when using it. Granted it's pretty quick anyway but that's all irrelevant. Anyway, I'm closing this.
