hi! I draw stuff.

I like to draw... things. Here, I draw something for you. This is for you.

dsc078842.jpg

It's a critter in my VGC simulation team, for some reason I'm not doing well very consistently with my simulation battles, so I might have to try something else.

Right now, whatever else I have to show would obviously be before this... here's something from last weekend, it is the great and terrible Ozzy.

dsc07885c.jpg

One thing I'm doing right now with my art... I'm working on a comic. Drawing my own comic. And, well, writing it. Right now I'm currently getting down the script for the first "episode". I have a comic hosting site picked out where I'll start putting up pages. Here's the main character.

dsc07339zr.jpg

You get a cookie if you know who he is... Some of you probably do, considering why you're on this forum. I can give you a hint if you don't. Every other character related to him in some way has their own comics, one of them has several different series of comics and graphic novels, but he doesn't have a comic, not at all. It's sad, because he is the only character in that whole family of characters who can legitimately be called a superhero.

Wow, really cool art! Your Dusknoir especially attracts me; the lines are so smooth and curvy. Keep up the excellent work. It'll be fun to see your comic!

Welcome to Smogon =)

I love your lineart, it's so clean and bold and smooth and lovely @.@ Your sense of pose and ratios is great, and it all jus seems to work aesthetically.
I hope this thread continues on to great success :)

Wow.
I wish I could draw lines with such confidence!
I'm hoping you post some more things in the vein of that Dusknoir, and I must say your proportions are right on~
:3c

Wow, nice line art :o I can definitely see you writing comics. I will be looking forward to more of your work!

Aw! Thank you. :)

Acklow is correct, it is indeed Pulseman. And come to think of it, I don't think Click Medic got a comic either, so that's two Game Freak creations with no comics. Quinty, Jerry Boy, and that one with all the critters that fight each other, they all got comics, one of them has its own anime series.

dsc07854g.jpg

The girl is, of course, Beatrice (pronounced the same way as the Beatoriche in Umineko no Naku Something Something I Dunno, Riche for short).

I'm still working on the script, and I'll likely still be working on the script for some time, but only because I have to be in a good quiet spot with no distractions to be able to write, because I am easily overstimulated. But, I already have notepad files where I have been writing out the plot... there's a word for it, but I forgot what it was. From there, I translate it into a script, and it's weird how just a paragraph of story can turn into several pages of script, just from writing out scene descriptions and dialogue for sets of panels... but even then, I may have to go back and fix the pages again, because I decided to utilize the webcomic format better... creating vertically long pages read by scrolling, instead of the printed page format I had been basing my work on before.

It's a lot of stuff to think about. But, it's fun, because I had the chance to dig into the characters' psyches, starting with the basic personality information that's given in the game manual. Just from how Pulse is a Gemini, with a birthdate that places his Moon sign in Virgo, and with type A blood, I was able to ultimately classify him as an ISTJ Myers-Briggs personality type. That's several pages worth of personality info, which I won't go into in-depth here... it's an easy Google search, anyway. It gives me room to start building a story/character bible, though, so if I have to think about how a character would act or react, I would have a reference on hand.

I was gonna do a pokemon pic today, but maybe next time.

Thank you! :)

I said I was gonna do it, so I did, here's Gypsy:

and a bonus Pulseman

although, that's a digital piece. I have a tablet. Not a real great tablet, though, one of those crummy old ones. I think I got it around 2002 or something. I have to adjust the little screw in the stylus every now and then. I should probably save up for a cintiq or something.

eeeee I like your style :) The clean and smooth lines give me the impression you draw your lines quickly.

Also, nice small touches here and there :)

Thank you! :D

I should probably draw the critters I'm using in the Intl Challenge

until then, here's some more Pulseman.

Wow I haven't posted in a while, I should update...

...First, pokemon stuff.

Here's my VGC team from a couple days ago:

dsc07986t.jpg

Remy and Pulse (Wash) were the MVPs, Pulse KO'd a Rhydon holding an Eviolite in one hit, and Remy... did some other things, I should have tried to find my camera, blah. Gypsy was awesome too, though she got frozen once.

There was a challenge a few days ago where I had to draw myself as a character from the last game I played.

dsc07972ia.jpg

Poor Brighid didn't see much action in the VGC, and when she did, a Garchomp threw a rock at her and that was it.

New trainers! I'm pretty sure Ohmura (all the GLs and Submas) designed them.

dsc07965s.jpg

The new Rival makes me think of a Rufflet.

dsc07971.jpg

Everyone on Tumblr was like "what is with Game Freak characters and hair?"

dsc07961l.jpg

Then this happened

dsc07979y.jpg

I have some more PulseRiche but I'll save it for a later update, this is enough already.

Not only is this a terrific team picture, I also really like the nicknames you've given them. Rembrandt somehow struck me as a great name for Rotom.

Thanks! :D Rembrandt means "blade of wisdom" and originally was a name I gave to my knife, and when I chose to breed and raise a Justified Gallade, I named him after the knife.

EDIT: Might as well mention where everyone else got their names

Bozz - Originally named after Boz Scaggs, was going to be a 10-letter variation of "Boz Scraggs" but then realized that it wouldn't make sense when he is a Scrafty. Shortened to "Boz" and then lengthened back out to "Bozz" in case anyone might get confused and call him "Bozo".

Pixie - Since the Japanese name was "Elf-phoon" I wanted to name her after something from the faerie realm, and decided the more prankster-ous type would be a pixie.

Pulsemite - after the character Rotom is based on.

Brighid - after the Celtic fire goddess.

Gypsy - was originally going to be Tiamat after the Babylonian chaos goddess who is a dragon. I finally hatched her egg and was EV-training her on the car ride up to my sister's for Thanksgiving last year, when the Fleetwood Mac song "Gypsy" started playing on the radio. I liked the line "To the gypsy that remains, faces freedom with a little fear, I have no fear" so I ended up naming her after the song.

Thanx for all your comments... here's another update. :D

Have to include a pokemon-related thing in each post... This is back when they were showing the Grammy Awards on TV, I was kind of dragged into watching it, and spent most of the time doodling.

dsc07818w.jpg

And now the extra PulseRiche that I couldn't post last time.

You went to Athens, right? I saw your doodles on the score cards and they were pretty good! I think you could've kept them; I doubt the staff does anything with them after the tournament besides throw them away!

I did go to Athens, though since the majority of Smogonites were likely doing very well in the tournament, they most likely didn't see many of my table marker doodles as my scores sent me further back the higher-numbered tables XD I don't remember actually drawing much, save for caption bubbles next to Resh/Zek with them saying stuff like "Good Luck!" There was one Snivy I was able to draw on marker 25, but he looked a little punch-drunk.

If you saw me at Athens, I was the person in the black shirt with a pocket (had my sharpie and stylus in it plus a small bristol card booklet) wearing a Reshiram pin, dark baggy blue jeans, carrying around an army-green messenger bag covered with mini-buttons, with a leather patch on it of a gryphon holding a paintbrush. I had short red hair and glasses. I'm female, but a lot of people think I'm a guy at first glance.

If you go to this thread and scroll down until you see the photo of the pierced fellow in the Iron Maiden shirt, I'm in the background behind the gray-shirted fellow in the upper right-hand corner of the shot. (I didn't get any good photos at the event since I was mostly busy battling, drawing, talking, or eating, so that's the best I can do. XD)

ahh love these doodles so much dude
you really have a lot of nice & free control in your line drawings

Thanks!

There is something I want to propose at the next League meeting which may result in work on a color piece; I saw all the people in Athens with the fancy custom shirts, and I want our local competitive players to have something like that when they go to competitions outside of town. I'm leaning towards a design similar to an aviator squadron patch, since we're a base town and our mascots are a Braviary and Rufflet. I still have to talk it over with the other League Leaders before something like that can be finalized, though.

You're drawings a top tier, and I especially dig your human characters.

Keep up the good work (hOnk!)

Thanks :D Though, Pulse and Riche aren't my characters, I just draw them a lot, because I think they're cute. XD

Color special!

Though, I don't do a lot of color digital work as I do traditional painted stuff.

Starting with pokemon-related art, this is a Ho-oh I did a little over a year ago:

rebirth_by_aedelthryd-d3bu334.jpg

And that's it for digital.

I was given a manuscript illumination kit as a gift a few years back. I had wanted to do some manuscript illumination with it, but so far all I've done is use the paint for art cards. It included gouache paints and also has gold gouache, which I hope I'll be able to find somewhere when I run out, because they're all tiny little tubes.

Anyway, this is something I made last year as a good-luck charm for Regionals in Duluth. I gave it away to the person who defeated me, as part of the tradition.

Before I got comfortable with paint, I would use Sharpies.

I also work in leather. This is a TCG accessory pouch I made for my oldest nephew for Christmas last year.

Under the cut are some other arts and crafts I do that involve color, but not necessarily Pokemon stuff.

Fabric markers on canvas bag:

As for any other digital art, if you've seen the art galleries in Sonic & the Black Knight you might have come across this.

I dig your art, Gryphon - man that Victini lucky charm and the poke-ball pouch are sick! I also love your Archeops, Rayquaza, and Swampert doodles you drew. Keep us updated with more of your art!

Thank you! :D

If anyone's going to the Savannah Sidewalk Art Festival this weekend in Savannah, GA, I'll be there... I'm participating in the sidewalk chalk art contest, Alumni division.

Mom asked me what I was planning on doing for my square this year and I had wanted to do something heraldry-related, but then she told me how every year there's always an American Gothic parody that either wins or places. Also I hadn't done a Pokemon square yet so I figured I should do one this year.

Blue-sky session turned out this:

tumblr_m2wb7ySbOG1qza7s4o1_500.jpg

Then I was told that the "farmer" needed to actually be holding a pitchfork, otherwise people wouldn't recognize the reference. So I did some more doodling.

tumblr_m2wiqdJ5Ap1qza7s4o1_500.jpg

We were wondering if the characters would be recognizable enough to where an uninitiated person looking at it would know immediately that they were pokemon (the majority of SCAD students/alum would know them because the majority of us are geeks). So I looked around for a more popular pair.

tumblr_m2wzvc9Z4z1qza7s4o1_500.jpg

Still planning on putting a pokemon center behind them, with another pokemon razing the building, maybe a Charizard.
