Tournament referees, please find your matchup below and post the thread when possible. Pull the team from the tournament Prize Claim thread, please.

To start the battle, you will use a coin flip to determine who sends out their Pokemon first. Turn order goes by the norm after that.

    Battle rules are as followed

    Switch = OK
    Items: ON
    Abilities: ONE
    Arena: ASB Tournament Arena
    Unlimited Chills/Recoveries
    Two substitutions
Two day DQ on actions, three day DQ on ref.

    Tournament rules:
    - Tournament will be 3v3 singles.
    - Pokemon will earn 6 MC in between battles.
    - Abilities and evolutions are locked for the entire tournament for all rental Pokemon.
    - Pokemon will be randomly given out in groups of six to each trainer, with repeats omitted and replaced.
    - For round one you are to choose three out of the initial six you are given. The three you do not choose will be discarded, and you will be unable to use them for the remainder of the tournament.
    - Items will be randomly given out in groups of ten to each trainer, with repeats omitted and replaced.
    - Items and Pokemon will be from a pre-determined pool.
    - Upon winning any round a trainer may swap one of their current Pokemon for one of their defeated opponent's current Pokemon.
    - Consumable items will be replenished throughout the tournament.
    - Held items will be swapped along with Pokemon. If your Pokemon has no held item, none will be forfeited.
    - For prizes for second and third places, they may choose from the team they lost their battle with. Swapped Pokemon from their final battle are not included in prize choice.

    ROUND ONE MATCHUPS

Randomly seeded on Challonge. For the sake of the tournament I cannot allow myself to post the bracket with these match-ups - it would ruin the fun by allowing counter-picking!

Red, looks like I get a chance to redeem my dismal Gym Qualifier effort against you. Definitely the tougher of round 1 match ups out there.

One question though, why so many byes?

EDIT: Holy crap Engi/IAR and Deck/zar are both huge too!

I created a single elimination tournament on Challonge, it seeded those byes.

Also after editing the refs in we have exactly enough to give each ref one match .-. that bit was just luck.

Surely there is some way to avoid that many people getting a bye. Just randomise match ups every round rather than set up brackets?

I don't see why there is an issue with the amount of byes given? In any case, please VM me if you have a problem with the match ups. Let this thread be for discussion, not complaints.

So I have a bye, eh? Not a huge deal as my lineup is very solid. However, missing the CC and MC is a bother as well as a chance to boost my team....

    A few victory predictions (open)
    Canis Majoris
    PwneYOLO

Seriously, a tourney winner against a newer ASB-er... Unless Pwne screws up, YOLO power will see him through.

    _________

    Dogfish44
    Imanalt

Both battlers are definitely top-tier. Dogfish may be the Deity of Misfortune, but it did not stop him winning. Imanalt may seem like he uses a phone to order, but his calcs are definitely immaculate. Still, after seeing team matchup, the answer will be life, universe, and everything in it. Plus 2.
    _________

    deadfox081
    Rediamond

I have a slightly innate respect to deadfox, given that he once stomped me. Red has too much on his plate about HG, so that may add to his stress error as well.
    _________

    TheWolfe
    Galladiator

Galladiator is... out of practice, I guess? Against a regular Hall reff (and those breed are known to be evil), his edge would seem less keen.
    _________

    Athenodoros
    inanimate blob

inanimate blob better learn how to mass-sacrifice goats fast if he wants to outhax Atheno.
    _________

    Glacier Knight
    Geodude6

Glacier is a well known flavour guru, specialising in pulling off wins by the skin of his teeth, albeit with very debatable methods. But not many knows that he also spent hours braining himself out of the best moves possible when it comes to prediction.
    _________

    Deck Knight
    Zarator

This, I think, wouldn't really come down to who is the better battler. Rather, the question would be - who is the most punctual battler? Deck has way too many stuff to take his mind off ASB - and that severely limits his leverage against a skilled opponent.
    _________

    Engineer Pikachu
    Its A Random

IAR had an Ampharos, for heavens' sake. That thing will be a MONSTER in Factory. By all means, trade for it if you win over IAR, Engi.

Pwnemon gets PwneYOLO but I don't get watersquidward or squidwardwarrior? Sensing some discrimination here... >.>

Also, with the massive number of byes, its somewhat unfair that in Round 2, 15 people will have 6 less MC to work with per mon against their opponents, so will the byes be receiving MC between now and Round 2? Maybe getting all 6 might not be fair to the people who did battle, but we should still get something, right?

This is gonna be good folks. I hope you're ready geodude6!

LOOKY LOOKY GLACIER PREDICTS STUFF (open)

    Match-ups:

    Canis Majoris
    PwneYOLO

Pwnemon has the type advantage, for the most part. Sneasal can shut down Drifblim, as Medicham can shutdown Arbok. Chandy vs Chandy is interesting. However, Let's see who sends out first. Canis might be able to make sure his matchups are favorable. But, Ultimately giving this to Pwnemon. He's got the edge in pokemon and skill.
    _________

    Dogfish44
    Imanalt

Dogfish44 has skill over Imanalt, but more importantly, he's got a mother fucking Starmie. Poor Imanalt. I would love to see Iman pull through, but the type advantages and skill are overpowering.
    _________

    deadfox081
    Rediamond

This one will be close I think. Honestly, I dont we should count DF081 out just because the types seem unfavorable. To be honest, the types aren't all that off: As long as Deadfox uses Whiscash to its best extent, and keeps it alive, I think he can pull through. Also, never underestimate mother fucking Tomohawk. Tomohawk will mess you up. Both trainers are very skillful though, and like i said before, this will be close. however, I believe Deadfox will be able to achieve victory.
    _________

    TheWolfe
    Galladiator

The teams are even for the most part: Slowking is going to be Wolfe's MVP though, and unless galladiator can knock it out swiftly and as fast as possible, it will cause major havoc on his team. I love Wolfe's team for some reason, it's odd but well rounded, for the most part. I think Wolfe has shown more skill in the past than his opponent in ASB overall, so I am placing my bets on Wolfy boy.
    _________

    Athenodoros
    inanimate blob

Nidoqueen shall lead Athenodoros to victory. Poor blob, he will surely feel the bitter sting of hax.... sorry buddy. Atheno will mash you to pulp.
    _________

    Glacier Knight
    Geodude6

Heh. I reckon I have the type advantages and experience over Geodude6. I'm going to do all I can to make sure I come out of our battle victorious!
    _________

    UllarWarlord
    Gerard

Ullar has his work cut out for him, sadly. Breloom can try its hardest, but won't do much, unless Ullar is smart. Walrein and Mandibuzz are going to have to pull some major weight. Gerard is more experienced, so to be honest, where he really shines is Doubles. Will this singles tourney throw him off? I think Ullar could pull off a win, but he will have to be smarter than he's ever been, and have some luck. Giving the edge to Gerard.
    _________

    kingofburgerz
    Maxim

This might take a while. Maxim has the skill, but both have steel pokemon that will not die quickly. It could drag out, and the further it drags, KoB might whittle his way ahead. Also, i just realized how close their teams are related. Both have steel types (and they dont have any Fire moves, so killing thorn and durant off will be tedious), both have serperiors, and then water types. KoB has an edge with Lanturn, so if he can get steel vs steel, serp vs serp, and water vs water, he could pull through. However, I've battled Maxim, and know his style. His skill will lead him to victory.
    _________

    lucarioisawesome
    Yarnus of Bethany

LIA's rain team is pretty cool, but it ultimately work against him. Ferrothorn is going to tear through his water mons, and the rain is only going to help it. I'm also pretty partial to Mr. Mime, and think that its trickery will leave LIA in the dust. Yarnus should be able to pull a clean win (Just be careful not to EN KO yourself buddy.)
    _________

    LockDown
    Ragnarokalex

If Alex is clever, Gengar can KO both of Lock's psychics, and he will be done for. both Camerupt and Lapras can handle their own against Serp (But lock can still use Contrary Leaf Storm to leave a huge mark). Alex also has more skill, being a veteran, so I will have to give him my bet.
    _________

    Complications
    Orcinus Duo

Wow. I don't even know who will win. Orcinus obviously has some great pokemon, but Complication's team is pretty formidable. Scrafty is Comp's lynchpin, i would say, so if Orc can take him out as fast as possible, Complications should fall quickly. Orc has Ambi and Zam, two fast and annoying pokemon. Things will be tricky, but I think this could go either way. But ofc I love Orcy-Poo more <3333
    _________

    Deck Knight
    Zarator

Sorry DK, but you're still a bit rusty. And your usual scheme won't work against this opponent; the hazard ploy is going to be a flop for the most part, whilst lee and drill resist SR. Spikes I guess could work though. Maybe DK can pull through? Zarator has the upper hand though, I would believe. However, I would love to see Deck Knight bring back some kick ass RP actions, like he did with Beedrill back in ASB's glory days. I think that will be his only chance at victory. That, or some major hax.
    _________

    Engineer Pikachu
    Its A Random

I dont want to do these anymore ._. That skarmory is scary, I hope Engi can take it out quick.
    _________

    SubwayJ
    Matezoide
    Glacier Knight

I will win this battle. SubwayJ can't even touch this, and Matezoide is too busy making more cancerous GIFs.
    _________

    Arcanite
    Eternal Drifter

I think this could go either way. ED is crafty, and i think if he thinks outside the box, he could pull a win. COMN GUY LET'S MAKE SOME RP ACTIONS WOO WOO YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH. Arcanite has the experience though.
    _________

    SimonSays
    Faylion

SimonSays <3333 Faylion stole my team. SS needs to kick his butt. Sadly, his team is primarily dark, whilst Faylion is packing fighting mons. Simon is a veteran though, so don't count him out.
    _________

    Leethoof
    TIO

TIO will lose because he's not here. he's gonna get DQ'd, calling it.

Yeah i was going to say waterwarrior rofl.

I have a bye which i don't really care about, sure i have less MC to work with which will disadvantage me for the rest of the tourney but at the same time I'm one step closer to the end. So there's trade offs.

Back with my Round 1 predictions.

    Canis Majoris
    PwneYOLO

    Referee: UllarWarlord

No-brainer. Pwn's Sneasel should be able to take Drifblim, and Medicham lols at Arbok. The only question mark is the Chandelure vs. Chandelure matchup remaining, but that may end up being a moot point.
    _________

    Dogfish44
    Imanalt

    Referee: Pwnemon

    Machamp too strongth. Also Starmie.
    _________

    deadfox081
    Rediamond

    Referee: Frosty

This one could go either way, really. I give the slight edge to Red and his badass Nidoking, but he sort of lacks type diversity, so I wouldn't be too surprised if this goes the other way.
    _________

    TheWolfe
    Galladiator

    Referee: King Serperior

I'll abstain on this one. Good luck Wolfe!
    _________

    Athenodoros
    inanimate blob

    Referee: The Wanderer

Do I really need to explain this one?
    _________

    Glacier Knight
    Geodude6

    Referee: Its A Random

See the above, although anything can happen with IAR reffing... ;P
    _________

    UllarWarlord
    Gerard

    Referee: Geodude6

Ullar's Breloom, as previously stated, is next to useless against Staraptor and Swalot, and doesn't have much to inflict on Hypno without getting mindraped, so he's basically fighting a 2v3 battle. And that's the tip of the iceberg.
    _________

    kingofburgerz
    Maxim

    Referee: Engineer Pikachu

Yada yada yada veteran versus rookie blah blah blah.
    _________

    lucarioisawesome
    Yarnus of Bethany

    Referee: Ragnarokalex

Obligatory upset pick. lia actually has a half-decent rain team set up there, and it remains to be seen how a Weezing and a Mr. (Ms.?) Mime can affect Ferrothorn.
    _________

    LockDown
    Ragnarokalex

    Referee: deadfox081

    Dat Gengar.
    _________

    Complications
    Orcinus Duo

Orc had probably the luckiest rolls of anyone when it came to Pokemon. It makes sense that he'd be able to capitalize on it.
    _________

    Referee: Someoneelse

Can't really see this going any other way, tbh. Should be a close one though.
    _________

Again, this could really go either way. Wouldn't be too surprised to be wrong here.
    _________

Sorry Mat, but I think J has you slightly outclassed here.
    _________

    Arcanite

    Better team, plain and simple.
    _________

    Going solely on experience here

    Dogfish44 vs. Imanalt
So glad I wasn't vs df, Starmie and Machamp will make if difficult for alty

    deadfox081 vs. Rediamond
Better team and going on past events

    TheWolfe vs. Galladiator
Galladiator has been away for a bit and may have lost his touch

    Athenodoros vs. inanimate blob
    See matchup one for justification

    Glacier Knight vs.Geodude6
    Also see matchup one

    UllarWarlord vs. Gerard
Sorry Ullar but your team isn't going to help you much on this one

    kingofburgerz vs. Maxim
    Also also see post one

    lucarioisawesome vs. Yarnus of Bethany
I think this one is close but Yarnus has been around longer

    LockDown vs. Ragnarokalex
Have to pick my TLR ref, to not would be just stupid :P (Also experience is key here)

    Complications vs. Orcinus Duo
Despite being away for a bit, his experience and broken really good team leans favour to Orci

    Deck Knight vs. Zarator
I honestly have no clue here so I thought It'd be fun to go against the flow this time

Engineer Pikachu vs. Its A Random
I think IAR may have slightly an upper hand in terms of teams, but skill-wise they are almost dead even

    SubwayJ vs. Matezoide
Looking forward to a good game mat (but won't vote here)

    Arcanite vs. Eternal Drifter
Sorry ED but I think Arcanite has the upper hand in experience and slightly in teams here

    SimonSays vs. Faylion
Also also also see matchup 1

    Leethoof vs. TIO
Experience and teams say Leet is the choice to make

Anyways good luck to everyone and especially Mat, I look forward to a good battle!
