Have you ever wanted to be a Gym Leader, but the type wanted wasn't available or you just felt like you couldn't do it? Are you just a huge fan of OMs and enjoyed playing Monotype back when you cared about in-game/competitive? Or maybe you just love one type of Pokemon and you want to use only that type? Well, regardless of which type of person you are, this is the tournament for you. In ASB, we have a lot of different types of battles, ranging from your Gym battles, to standard tournament battles, to TLRs and Raids, and of course the expanse of your imagination when you make an arena. As of late, we just had the LC Tournament, which I think we'd all agree was a huge success. So, in the spirit of non-standard formats for battling I present to you, the ASB Monotype tournament! Let's get into how it works.
Battle Rules
Bring 4, Pick 3 Singles. You PM 4 pokemons to the ref from your team, but the battle will be 3vs3 singles. You will choose and send out your mons as the battle develops.

Ubers Rule: Each type has an Ubers list. You may only use one of those Pokemon per match. NOTE: This would mean that you can only send in 1 mon from that list per match.
Special Rule: Pokemon are equipped on send-in, similar to how Anime-Style Simulator challenges work.
Special Rule #2: The Gym League rules on Megas is in effect. A mega may be used as long as it shares a type with the gym. Pokemon that mega evolve into a Pokemon with the right type can only be used in their mega evolved form, and enter the field mega evolved (see: Mega Lopunny in Fighting). Pokemon that lose the proper type on mega evolution may not be used (see: Mega Aggron in Rock).
Special Rule #3: Silvally can be used, but it must hold the Memory associated with the typing of the team, unless you are Normal, in which case, you cannot use a Memory. Silvally will be immune to any item-changing/removing effect if it is holding a Memory item, and Knock Off will get a boosted BAP against a Silvally holding a Memory.
Team-Building Rules
You will be renting Pokemon to use for this tournament. Each person will be renting 6 Pokemon, all of which: (a) are normally purchasable, (b) will have 50 moves and (c) must share the same type (because it wouldn't be monotype otherwise, right?). In addition to those Pokemon, you will receive the mega stones for any Pokemon you choose that does have a mega (and you claimed the profile for said mega), Z-Crystal corresponding to your type (Fire -> Firium Z), and you will choose 6 more items to add to your backpack for the duration of the tournament. For example, if I chose Bug, I can claim Aurumoth/Heracross/Scizor/Syclant/Armaldo/Shuckle, and I would automatically receive Heracronite and Scizorite, 1x Buginium Z, and then I would be able to claim 6 other items of choice. These profiles should be sent me and Exclaimer, since we are the hosts.
More on the claiming of the mons: Please claim them with their moves in a way that I can denote which moves would be considered its 'base' moves. In other words, please make sure all the Pre-26 Level Up from all evolution stages are there and noted as such, in addition to which 5 current gen TM/HMs were selected for that, and which 5 Egg/Tutor moves (based on how many Egg moves it has). And most importantly, 50 moves.
The Ubers list is as follows below. Remember, there you can only claim a maximum of 3 of these mons, allowing room to always have a valid set of 4 Pokemon to use per battle.

All changes to Pokemon that are in this tournament will be addressed in 1 of 2 manners, depending on the strength of the change.
- Category 1: These are slight changes to the way items/mons work that doesn't completely alter the viability. For example, if Silvally's memories were boosted ot give +3 BAP to the type, this would be Category 1 These will be implemented in the rounds following the round the change happens during
- Category 2: These are massive changes to the way things work. For example, if Silvally's memories were to suddenly yield +1 to All Ranks rather than the +2 BAP to the type, this would be Category 2. These will be excluded from the tournament process as a whole.
Enough of the rules, let's get to how this tournament works.
Tournament Format
Phase 1: 'Laddering' Phase
Played in 1 round, 3 matches. Your matches will be entirely randomized, and players will be ranked based on their performance. The top 24 from this stage will move on. Ideally, the decisions will be made off of pure W-L records, but in the case of a tie making it difficult to decide who makes the top 24, a council of voters will be put together in order to evaluate those that need to be moved around to make it possible to make the necessary cuts. No players will be cut before the end of this phase, just substitutions for disqualified players.
Phase 2: Single Elimination Phase
This will also be played in 4 rounds. The bracket will be formed based on your placement in the previous phase. It's single elimination, so a loss removes you from the tournament. Round of 24. Quarterfinals of 12, Semifinals of 6, and the Finals will be a round robin between the final 3 players.
Prizes
1st Place: Genesect and 1 of each of the 4 Drives (Douse, Shock, Burn, Chill)
2nd Place: 1 of the Lake Guardians (Azelf, Mesprit, Uxie)
3rd Place: 1 Pokemon from their team of rentals. NOTE: This means you get 2 Pokemon.
NOTE: Placing above the prize you want still allows you to choose the prize you wanted instead. For example, 1st place can still get an Azelf if they wanted.
Participation: All players that make it through at minimum the first 3 rounds (Phase 1) without being DQ'd from the tournament will be able to claim 1 Pokemon from their team once they are out of the tournament. This also applies to those who place.
No predictions since those have fallen apart more than not.
Refs are welcomed, assuming this isn't going to be your first time reffing things, since we do appreciate quality reffing here. :)
