BH Balanced Hackmons

Might sound like a shitpost, but knowing that Sun and Moon Ultra will be released around November, how about we share anything that leaks from it just like how we theorymon-ed ahead (although I was not there, I saw some stuff in Cold Storage) the 7th gen before Sun and Moon release? Ther might be new 'mons or abilities that might change the metagame.

Two things on that. 1) There isn't really anything to speculate yet, all we've seen is artwork and in-game models for what appears to be alternate forms for Solgaleo and Lunala, though could be alternate forms for Necrozma. Or could be something new entirely. While we could maybe guess typings fairly accurately, anything else would be near baseless speculation. 2) We had a specific topic for that to avoid spoilers in the main OM threads. Such speculation and leaks should probably be confined in a separate topic for the same reasons. You could maybe pester the OM leaders to make such a topic.

This should go to creative and underrated sets. Anyway:

1) Bad movepool, pointless ability since the main Ground user is Groudon and it has no reason not to vaporize it with V-create.
2) Pathetic bulk, redundant movepool. Weak to common attack types.
3) Garbage ability and movepool. At least run Skill Swap.
4) Movepool confused, also wtf Calm Mind? Run Quiver Dance.
5) Walled 100% by Ghost.
6) Extremely redundant movepool. Too slow to do anything.
7) Horribly destroyed by regenvest cores.
8) As frail as thin paper.
9) Not THAT bad, yet too slow to pose a threat.
10) Dumb pokemon, having a nice typing isn't a justification.
11) Nice troll, dumb EVs.
12) No EVs, only two moves. Devoured by priority, and faster threats (having 266 speed means everything relevant will outspeed).
13) It was dumb before and it is dumb now.
14) Same, but now you are also prone to Spectral Thief.
15) Nice troll, beaten by pivoting or strong offence (so 90% of the tier).
16) Maudino isn't an attacker, Simple Beam is thrash.
I agree with draegn.

Also, since you posted a lot of sets, put them into a spoiler, so you wont fill the page of anyone not interested.

I already knew these sets were trash I just wanted to share them to see if anybody would like to make somthing out of them with that said please don't call them dumb. Any way elmustacho that is what I appreciate describing changes that when made would make the sets better. Also the sets with not many moves that is just somthing to base off of then add your own moves. I hope that makes since.

E3 is tomorrow we should get some info then!

Why do you even post theae sets when you kmow that they're trash?
There's also a big difference between a meme and trash, and your sets aren't memes, they're just trash.

Give the guy a break, he was excited to share his sets with us. All this immediate "they're trash" isn't doing much to encourage new players. While the sets aren't the best, I'm glad to see you have enthusiasm for the tier! In the future, if you want to make sure the sets will be well received in the thread, please feel free to private message me SirbutteralotIII . This goes for any new players as well, and I'm sure I'm not the only player who'll offer to do this.

We're nice, really! And even if your sets are not viable, they're very creative. :toast:

SirbutteralotIII

Magnezone 1 and 2: Magnezone has a neat typing, but really lacks the stats to function in the current meta. The second set is the better of the two, although it could use some utility. You'd probably be better using Solgaleo for Steel-typing. For Electric, I think Zekrom and Ampharos can pull off niche AV Regen sets.

Truantwo: Hyperbeam esque moves are bad in nearly (every?) meta. Plus you're missing the one that actually has STAB in Prism Laser. Truant Entrainment is a gimmicky set that can sometimes work, but such a thing works much better with Skill Swap and then another move, like set-up, to take advantage of the momentum. Or if you wanna be really gimmicky, Skill Swap, Anchor Shot, Protect-esque move, something else.

Stateboost: Quiver Dance over Calm Mind unless you're running set-up moves in Trick Room for whatever reason. Arceus can kinda work as a sweeper, but I'd definitely switch a move with Boomburst for it. And drop Sunsteel Strike and, if you replaced something else with Boomburst, coverage for Steels in Earth Power or Secret Sword. Or Moongeist if ignoring abilities is that important.

Kanga: You need four moves, and Last Resort is kinda meh. Set is hard, hard walled by Giratina and Gengar, both of which are common. Mega-evolving Kanga usually goes Illusion and then wants to spam Nature's Madness and Super Fang.

Mawile: Pure Steel coverage is pretty meh. Replace two of those moves with coverage (or one with Spore) and Swords Dance with Shift Gear, since Huge Power will let you break stuff no problem. Huh... this is kinda sounding like OM!'s Mawile now.

Scrappy Shed: It works as a gimmick, but once the surprise is over, you'll lose it. Its also walled by anti-priority sets too. Sword Dance is also super redundant when you're using Endeavor.

Eevee: As much as I like Eevee, it's just bad in BH. You can get muuuuuch more reliable baton passers for set-up elsewhere. Also, only two moves?

Switch into: Actually pretty decent. Not the most optimal set, but swap Sword Dance for Shift Gear and it'll certainly be fairly viable.

Raticate-A: Raticate is just bad. :/ You can run standard Contrary on any meta-mon and get much bigger bang for your buck.

Gengar for rm: Not a bad Baton Passer. Any changes there would just depend on the team, really.

Switch into gm: Whyfor only two moves? At least run some special coverage like Earth Power.

Raticate-Again: See other one.

Meta Audi: Spirit Tomb has neat typing but lacks stats. Again, you can do better on Contrary users.

Arceus-Fire again: Looks like more or less a standard Perish Trapper on a Pokemon that can viably pull it off. No real changes to make here.

Audino: Dark-types that can take a Moonblast will just scoff at this set and continue setting up because of Prankster. Consider other anti-set up options, like Spectral Thief, Haze, or even Heart Swap.

Hello everyone, I'm here to ask your opinion about "What if we created the Balanced Hackmons chat in Pokemon Showdown?"
Even Anything Goes, Monotype, have one, and BH is a great and quite popular meta that attracts many players to play it (because of the fun to use illegal stuff, etc...). Why does not BH have one too? I think we have great players that could be admins of it.

sounds good but then there wouldnt be any need for the om room

eeh...you might think BH deserves their own room, but tbh, i dont like the idea much.

1) AG and monotype are special cases, AG is technically a official meta disguised as an om (the creator of smogon was the one who made the tier...its basically offical due to that) and monotype's community has practically always been seperate of OM's.

2) whenever a meta (ag, monotype) ends up getting its own room, we tend to "distance" away from said metagames, monotype/OM room actually dont get along that well. iirc we got into a huge argument a while ago in a tourny because the winner(kl4ng) was using stall.. and it caused a huge uproar between the two rooms to the point where me and uselesscrab(i was mod at the time) had to set modchat into the room just to get everyone to shut up and stop arguing. its rare to see a monotyper play OM metagames. by creating one for bh, we actually will end up causing another rip in the OM room, where BH will practically become its own thing and OM room will have even less people in it.

i personally dont want to risk distancing BH from OM room. even if theres a chance it doesnt happen, i rather not risk it.

I already have more sets for you to criticize. It's a mawile/shedinja set the set is designed to go with the shedinja and mawile however the shedinja can be used in other ways. Here's how it works.

  • First start out with the shedinja.
  • Next you go for the shell smash (or swords dance if you really want the attack however I don't recommend).
  • Next you can either go for shell smash agian steal there setup w/ spectral thief or baton pass. You must baton pass if they attacked on turn one.
  • When you do bp into mawile (or something else if you want) mega evolve the mawile.
  • Finally KO all your opponents Pokémon.

Sets: https://pastebin.com/kS6r5e3T (sorry I don't know how to make a spoiler if someone told me that would be nice).

I haven't done a lot with BH in Sun & Moon, but I seem to have found a set that works well for me.

rayquaza-mega.gif

Rayquaza-Mega @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Aerilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Boomburst
- Searing Shot/Blue Flare
- Earth Power
- Light of Ruin/Draco Meteor/Core Enforcer

A very fast and effective revenge killer and wallbreaker. The Choice Scarf is (obviously) for outspeeding threads that would outspeed and OHKO Rayquaza without it. A fantastic total of 504 SpA along with Aerilate, transforms Boomburst into an outrageous 168 BP move, including STAB along with this. Searing Shot is for handling the defensive Steel types that wall Boomburst and can be used for utility to hand off burns. Blue Flare is another option, gaining 30 more BP but sacrificing some accuracy to do so. Earth Power provides good coverage against pokemon like Dialga and Nihilego, who otherwise are neutral to or resist every other move used in the set. Light of Ruin is just for Dragon types (and occasionally Dark types, like Yveltal), as Dragon is an extremely common typing in BH. Draco Meteor is another option (and probably the better one) as Draco Meteor's STAB boost pushes it's power past Light of Ruin's, but the SpA drop will, in most cases, force you to make a switch to fix the issue. Core Enforcer is an optional replacement for Draco Meteor, having better accuracy and no defects on the user such as stat drops, but using this sacrifices a chunk of power that Rayquaza needs to break through defensive Dragon types.

You could run Revelation Dance, Core Enforcer, and Clanging Scales over Dragon Pulse, all are superior in power. Revelation Dance can hit through normalize and thanks to Aerilate is boosted to 108 bp (unless this is a bug) while counting as dragon stab while Clanging Scales clocks in at 110 bp drops your defense and is walled by soundproof, but Core Enforcer comes with no drawbacks besides the fairy immunity and can help wear down regenvest steels if they switch in. Another option could be Techno Blast as it is a strong Aerilate boosted move that can help break through Soundproof mons (s/o motherlove).

And what do you do when an Imposter copies your Rayquaza? As you have both Earth Power and Searing Shot, you can't improof it with a levitate or flash fire steel...

you could actually use imposter chansey with max special defense to wall it. since its mainly going to be transforming vs non-imposters, you can cater its moveset to be able to wall the set completely.

Hey guys, how have you all been doing? I have been bored lately, and decided in my boredom to make a random team based around trapping and -ates. The simple premise is to trap Steels in anyway possible and to blow apart opponents with -ates, while improofing all my offensive mons with Soundproof Zygod, who can also act as a trapper itself. Solgaleo is honestly filler since I needed a way to shut down Triage, Fakespeed, and Prankster, and have hazard control. He had the best assortment of traits for the job, so I left him there >.>. I had Aerilate Specs Mray with Volt Switch, Boomburst, Clanging Scales, Magma Storm before MMY, but i found any team with higher than 115 base Spd ran circles around me, so I changed him to MMY.

I'll post the team here so you guys can tweak and trash it ^_^.

EDIT: Thanks to the ironically named Uselesscrab, I have figured out how to use spoilers! Thank you fren ^_^.

EDIT2: Rumors had said trapping was cancerous and that he would build a team based on it. That is no longer necessary XP.

Nice team, I also run a team with a MagPull core (but only Groudon and Diancie) with good success :)

A few things I would change:
  • Use a Choice Scarf on Groudon. This allows you to kill fast Solgaleos and the rare Metagross-Mega before they u-turn out. With an Adamant nature, you ensure the OHKO against opposing MMYs (which are outsped thanks to the scarf).
  • You have no way to beat opposing setup sweepers after they successfully set up, as you have no unaware user and not even a sashed spectral thief user. Replace for example MMY with an imposter or an unaware mon like Gyarados.
  • Your own Solgaleo is very vulnerable to trapping, and why psychic surge? I would rather run a Prankster set with Haze, Shore Up, Dbond/Defrog and Parting Shot/U-turn to stop opposing sweepers or the classic RegenVest set (with Koff to remove Shed Shells from opposing mons).
  • Consinder running Shed Shell on Zygarde. This allows you to beat Imposter 1on1, as you can switch out when it tries to perish trap you.
  • You have to rely on Switcheroo from Groudon and Diancie to beat Normalize Gengar, but both mons are outsped even by unboosted Gengar (altough a scarfed Groudon outspeeds unboosted Gengar) and can't take a +1 Judgment.

1. I see, thanks fren ^_^.
2. Yea, Pursuit Unaware M-Gara tickle your fancy Xd. I do have Prank Dbond Gengar, but its kinda unreliable, so I see where you're coming from.
3. Kinda explained lol. Also, I had played against Jrm115 with this team prior to adding Psurge (had something else, don't remember), and his Parting Shot + Encore Prankster Registeel was fisting me hard the whole game.
4. Soundproof fren. The only reason I ran Parting Shot was for momentum, and it being blocked means a Imposter will get pp stalled to death. I was more think about a Darkium-Z tbh cuse a Choiced Imposter can fu*k my Zygod, but Spooooooore. Plz where's the Sleep Clause?
5. Yea, I was banking on Spamming Haze on a mon till it died and switching in MMY. Forgot to tweak my team after I removed that mon lol. Guess I can use good'ol Unaware Gyara with Spectral, Whirlwind/Glare, Pursuit, and Recovery move. Sadness :/.
