Battle Maison Discussion & Records

Having a bit of trouble with Super Multi. Farthest I got was around 28 with Typhlosion and Gourgeist Partner.

Obvious pair up choice is:
MegaZard Y
Modest, 252 SpA, 252 Spe, 6 HP
- Heat Wave
- Air Slash
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Pulse/Protect (ended up using Dragon Pulse to combat Dragons)

With Garchomp as my 2nd:
Adamant, 252 Atk, 252 Spe, 6 HP
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Protect

However, I've been encountering a LOT of fighting/rock/ground types that just smash the crap out of MegaZard and Typhlosion with a single Rock Slide ... and the Gourgeist back up isn't helping much either.
I've been using Garchomp for my back up and it's worked alright but I feel it just isn't cutting it especially when there are so many flying/levitators. I was thinking about replacing Garchomp with Azumarill to handle the bulky fighting/rock/ground types but I'm conflicted with Drought reducing Aqua Jet damage. Do you guys have any suggestions for a secondary poke or a new potential Multi partner?

About to challange super triples boss, just making fins preps :-) Wish me luck!

Edit: And so 4/5 super bosses was beat, with just Super Multi left to do :D No access to a friend/2nd 3ds+game, so will probably have to struggle with the AI's to get things my way :P

Used this team for super triples:

Abomasnow@Abomasite (mid)
Snow warning
252 S.Atk - 252 Hp - 4 Atk, Nature: +S.Atk -Spe

Blizzard
Energy Ball
Focus blast
Protect

Did a fine job with distracting threats the 1st turn allowing a trick room to be set almost every single time. Next he would spam perfect blizzards unless there were only 'mons resisitng it out on the field

Azumarill@Wide lens (left)
Huge Power
252 hp - 252 Atk - 6 spe, Adamant

Aqua Jet
Aqua tail
Play rough
Superpower

A really powerful little mouse to keep the pressure from fire/ground types off Abomas back, he didnt like grass/electric leads that would often KO him after the initial Aqua Jet. He did a fine job nevertheless

Spritzee@Eviolite (right)
Aroma Veil
252 hp - 252 S.Def - 4 Def, Sassy

Dazzling Gleam
Trick Room
Reflect
Light Screen

Due to not having the possibility to trade evolve i thought "What the heck, I may just throw on eviolite and give it an attempt!" I do not regret that at all. It almost never failed to set Trick Room, and every single time it got confused it still put up TR AND broke fusion the next turn to be able to setup screens for protection. Dazzling were usually only for once TR and Screens were up, and did quite some dmg to the ones it was SE on to secure the 1HKO/2HKO. Incredible reliable and only once i believe it didnt get TR up due to a crit SE move.

Tyranitar@Assult vest
Sandstream
252 Hp - 252 S.Def - 4 atk, Sassy

Crunch
Fire Blast
Earthquake
Rock Slide

What can one say... whenever Aboma had to much to keep from KO-ing him, this was the obvious switch 9/10 times. Any fire attack he would just brush off, while shaking in fear of any fighting attack. He did a great job, especially vs. the veterans/Boss. Couldnt have done it w/o him :D And also he was an important part in the set of my next mon..

Garchomp@Brightpowder
Sand Veil
252spe - 252 atk - 4 hp, Jolly

Rock Slide
Earthquake
Dual Chop
Poison jab

Is it a bird?
Is it a plane?
Nope, its Garchomp!

A speady 'mon aint what would be considered "smart" in a TR team, but he pulled it off! Never sent him in w/o sandstorm up, or TR off. Having sand boosting his evasiveness while using a evasiveness item and attracting all sorts of ice type attacks was really a genuine move. I dont think he ever got hit by any ice attack, out of atleast 10 of em. Truly a flash with that speed and that evasiveness!

Last, but not least:
Reuniclus@life orb
Magic Guard
252 Hp - 252 def - 4 S.atk, Bold

Psyshock
Shadow ball
Focus blast
Trick room

Backup room setter and bulky special sweeper. He took out what others struggeled with and did it nice and clean. If any of my leads on the side got taken out, he was the go-to replacement. Taking hits like a champ and not giving a single thought to statuses like burn/poison. Did a great job for the team and hit ALOT with Focus blast.

Well, time to go for the last trophy then or I may go for higher triples streak, we will see :D
Thanks to Kappaten for the basics for this team :D

Nice work!

It seems the changes I've made since my original post have already been addressed by you, lol:

Abomasnow@Abomasite
Snow Warning
Quiet, 252 HP/6 Atk/252 SpA
-Blizzard
-Protect
-Energy Ball
-Focus Blast

Energy Ball over Wood Hammer, because... it hits Walrein harder? and because I can deal with Tenta a little better thanks to my changes to Aromatisse...

Aromatisse@Lum Berry
Aroma Veil
Sassy, 252 HP/6 Def/252 SpD
-Moonblast
-Trick Room
-Protect
-Thunderbolt
I didn't even know Aromatisse could learn Thunderbolt before. I was just going to teach it Psyshock, a little bummed since I already had Reuniclus, but as I kept scrolling through my TMs I saw Thunderbolt was an option! Great in letting me deal with Water-types without having to swap off of Blizzard with Abomasnow, and lets him hurt Heatran. Lum Berry over Safety Goggles to protect against confusion hax.

And then Crunch > Payback on TTar, because I was just too lazy to change it before.

Hehe, ye. What else would be the reason of these forums if not to discuss and improve teams togheter :D

Well, just beat the Chatelaine of super doubles (streak of 50) with this team:

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
31/31/31/31/31/X
Careful, 252Hp/220atk/36def
Sand Stream
-Rock slide
-Protect
-Crunch
-Fire Fang

Cookie the Garchomp @ Bright Powder
31/31/31/X/31/31
Jolly, 252att/252spe/4spd
Sand Veil
-Dragon Claw
-Protect
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide

Catgroove the Rotom-Cut @ Choice Scarf
31/X/X/31/31/31
252spa/252spe/4spd
Levitate
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch
-Shadow Ball
-Leaf Storm

Saxton Gale the Talonflame @ Safety goggles
31/31/X/X/31/31
252atk/4def/252spe
Gale Wings
-Brave Bird
-Protect
-Flare Blitz
-Tailwind

Wow, I thought I was the only one using Mowtom. Still working on my Triples team, but breeding and Super Training takes a really long time for 6 Pokémon... This team better at least get me to 50...

It seems like any decently thought out team is very likely to make 50... Triples leaves a LOT more leeway for getting haxed, since you only lose 1/3 of your backups instead of 1/2 (or your only backup, for triples) if you get hit with OHKO/Quick Claw/Crits.

I have been playing with an Azumarill, Aegislash, Mega Kangaskhan, and Greninja.

What two Pokemon would compliment this lot to play triples? I am thinking s Speed Boost Blaziken might be nice.

200 Wins! I've had some very close battles but all of them were due to not paying attention. Going to take a little break and then I'll continue my streak later.

EDIT: Video here, but it's pretty boring: RDZW-WWWW-WWW3-8TA3

Might want something with some stronger spread attacks, like Tyranitar or Garchomp. Also, seeing as how offensively-based your team is, something with moves to hit the opposite side (like Talonflame) would increase your team's speed.

My streak for Super Singles ended at 234. I thought I had a much longer streak e-z, but I was running on auto-pilot since I usually played Maison while doing other things, and I got fucked up pretty bad by a Curse Umbreon since I got flustered and made some bad plays. I got lucked quite often but generally played my way out of it; carrying a Lum Berry on one of my Pokes really helped.

Kangaskhan @ Kangaskhanite
252 Atk / 252 Spe
Scrappy -> Parental Bond
Jolly nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Crunch
- Power-Up Punch

Dragonite @ Lum Berry
252 Atk / 252 Spe
Multiscale
Adamant nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Fire Punch
- Earthquake

Azumarill @ Assault Vest
252 HP / 252 Atk
Huge Power
Adamant nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
- Play Rough

Very straightforward, easy to win with. I used to use Weakness Policy on Dragonite before realizing it was very rarely useful, whereas Lum Berry was /always/ useful. Before Azumarill, I had a Crawdaunt - I needed to get the BP to change my Azumarill's ability to Huge Power. Obnoxious Pokemon included but are not limited to: Cofagrigus (mostly was annoying as a lead, as one of the last two pokemon it was okay to deal with), Avalugg, Skarmory, Grass/Poison-types (Venusaur). Assault Vest on Azu actually came in handy a number of times, don't doubt it.

My replay of the last match is X3AG-WWWW-WWW3-9WJD. Excuse the general shittiness of my playing; I should have immediately gone to Kanga and outboosted against the Umbreon with PuP, then nuked it with Play Rough after if it somehow came out of that beating my Kanga. Alas, didn't pay attn. :(

I'll go for a better record next time with a less standard team, but this was a good way to get started, I suppose.

Updated.

Lost at 343 in Super Triples >______<
Battle #343: SWEW-WWW-WWW3-9HTC.

663.png

Talonflame @ Sky Plate
Adamant / Gale Wing
252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Speed
~ Protect
~ Tailwind
~ Brave Bird
~ Flare Blitz

After using Tailwind in Super Doubles (as seen here) and it turned out not to work as well as it did in the Subway due to not having acess to Heatran/Tornadus (yet) I felt like giving it a try in triples. I tweaked Talfonflame a little bit (Sky Plate > Focus Sash because Greninja runs sash). Talonflame might even do a better job at setting up Tailwind due to priority Brave Bird which is capable of hitting all Pokémon on the field.

009.png

Mega Blastoise @ Blastoisnite
Modest / Mega Launcher
6 HP / 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed
~ Protect
~ Ice Beam
~ Aura Sphere
~ Water Spout

Good old Blastoise makes a return once again. This thing has served me so well in 5th Gen (Water Spout / Ice Beam / HP: Grass / Protect @ Water Gem). It is still a shame that Water Gem does no longer exist and I may have even moved this to the back @ Water Gem, maybe using a different Mega Pokémon. Boosted Aura Sphere's that can't miss is huge against things like Lax Insence Sheer Cold/Fissure Walrein.

658.png

Greninja @ Focus Sash
Timid / Protean
6 HP / 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed
~ Mat Block
~ Ice Beam
~ Grass Knot
~ Dark Pulse

I've started using Greninja after #75 or so. This spot used to belong to Espeon (Protect / Helping Hand / Psychic / Dazzling Gleam). I didn't really want to use it at first because R Inanimate also runs it, but Mat Block + Protean is just too good to not use it.

479-w.png

Rotom-W @ Wide Lens
Modest / Levitate
252 Sp.Atk / 6 Sp.Def / 252 Speed
~ Protect
~ Dark Pulse
~ Hydro Pump
~ Thunderbolt

Being a bitch to breed totally paid off for being an awesome back-up. Dark Pulse hits across the field and it has an amazing Water/Electric STAB. I used to run Discharge, but hitting two (or three) mons instead of 1 didn't make up for the rest of the team being forced to Protect besides Garchomp. Wide Lens boosts Hydro Pump's accuracy to 88% which still isn't too great, but keep in mind that it also makes it easier for Rotom-W to hit things like Lax Insence Walrein / Sand Veil Pokémon in Sandstorm.

715.png

Noivern @ Sitrus Berry
Timid / Infiltrator
6 HP / 252 Sp.Atk / 252 Speed
~ Air Slash
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Flamethrower
~ Tailwind

I used to run Togekiss in this slot (The first 150 or so). And while Togekiss is amazing I really wanted a second Pokémon with Tailwind, so I chose Noivern. I might switch back to Togekiss eventually as a second Tailwind user has proven to be unnessecary most of the time.

445-f.png

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Jolly / Rough Skin
6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
~ Crunch
~ Protect
~ Earthquake
~ Dragon Claw

The team needed another physical attacker and Garchomp was the first and only thing that came to mind (perhaps because I already bred it, or because it's just so awesome). STAB Earthquake and a team that has 3 Pokémon immune to it makes my life a little easier every now and then. One might ask why I don't run Rock Slide on this and the reason is simple: it'll miss when I need it to hit.

Lvl 50 stats:
Talonflame | 154/146/91/77/89/178
Blastoise | 155/107/140/205/135/130
Greninja | 148/90/87/155/91/191
Noivern | 161/81/100/149/100/192
Rotom-W | 125/75/127/172/128/138
Garchomp | 184/182/115/81/105/169

Just wondering if you made any mistake while typing Greninja moves, as you mention Mat Block while it does not have it in its moveset.

Not too far in myself, but just about had the luckiest save. 32 wins in Super Double Battles and still going strong, when this happens. Let's set the stage; My team is as follows:
Charizard@Charizardite Y
252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed
Blaze --> Drought
Modest Nature
-Heat Wave
-Flamethrower
-Dragon Pulse
-Solar Beam

Garchomp@Choice Band
252 Attack/252 Speed
Rough Skin
Jolly Nature
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Iron Head
-Outrage

Gardevoir@Life Orb
252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed
Trace
Timid Nature
-Psychic
-Dazzling Gleam
-Thunderbolt
-Energy Ball

Venusaur@Leftovers
252 Sp. Attack/252 Speed
Chlorophyll
Modest Nature
-Sunny Day
-Giga Drain
-Toxic
-Synthesis

The match:

Start of the battle, my opponent sends out a Jolteon on the right and Magnezone on the left. I have Charizard on the left and Garchomp on the right. Seeing both are electric types, I use Earthquake on my Garchomp, locking him into it due to his Choice Band. I Mega Evolve Charizard for Drought, knowing it will likely go down to Jolteon. As expected, Jolteon goes first and OHKOs my Charizard with Thunder. My Garchomp retaliates with Earthquake, KOing Jolteon and leaving Magnezone with 1hp (It had sturdy). This is where things go very wrong, very quickly. My opponent then sends out a Braviary on the right to replace Jolteon, and I send out Gardevoir to replace Charizard. Garchomp finishes off the Magnezone and leaves Gardevoir with 9HP after another Earthquake, and Gardevoir takes out Braviary with Thunderbolt, but faints due to life orb damage. My opponent has 1 pokemon left, and I cross my fingers that it's not another flying type/pokemon with levitate, and send in Venusaur as a last resort. Opponent sends in Hawlucha. I think to myself "I'm doomed. There's no way I can take out a Hawlucha with Venusaur". The sunlight is still fresh from Charizard's drought, so Venusaur goes first and badly poisons Hawlucha with Toxic. Hawlucha decides to use bounce, and Garchomp brings Venusaur down to just about 1/3 with an Earthquake. The next few turns are spent stalling using Synthesis, hoping either Garchomp runs out of PP for Earthquake or Hawlucha dies to toxic. About 3-4 turns later, the sunlight fades and Venusaur is no longer the speediest. Luckily, Garchomp was paralyzed from a Bounce and moves last, still unable to do anything but hurt Venusaur with Earthquake. A few turns later, Venusaur finally goes down to an Earthquake, leaving Hawlucha at just under 1/3 HP and still badly poisoned, and Garchomp at 3/4 HP and paralyzed. Hawlucha attempts one more bounce, it misses, and thus faints from poison, narrowly winning me the match.
TL;DR: Toxic saved my ass in what should have been a lost cause.

You really should bring protect or more flyers/levitators if you're abusing Choice Garchomp.

I thought of this, but my team actually provides more coverage and it's usually Garchomp going down first, anyway. The main thing my leads are weak against is water/ice mixes, which Venusaur and Gardevoir handle exceptionally well.

Edit: What I could have done in this situation was, in turn 2, switch out my Garchomp for Venusaur, knowing Garchomp can easily take out both Braviary and Magnezone alone. However, I didn't know what the final pokemon was, and feared risking sending Chomp in alone against 3 others.

I just lost Super Multi on the 70th battle (streak of 69), so no leaderboard for me (yet).

I used Mega Kangaskhan (Return, Power-up Punch, Rock Slide, Sucker Punch) and specially defensive super-sized Gourgeist (Protect, Leech Seed, Will-o-Wisp, Seed Bomb). My AI partner had Sylveon (Moonblast, Shadow Ball, Psyshock, Round [it never used round once lol]) and Feraligatr (Waterfall, Earthquake, Ice Punch, Aqua Jet). The AI honestly isn't too bad when they only have attacking moves, as they almost always go for the move that does the most damage. And I'm pretty sure they cheat when it comes to priority moves, as Feraligatr only ever used Aqua Jet when it knew for sure that it would kill.

Now everyone already knows that Mega Kangaskhan is really good, so I don't really need to explain anything about that. I just replaced EQ with rock slide to have a spread move that doesn't kill my partner. Gourgeist is pretty good too, as it handles nearly everything Kangaskhan can't and still comes out at a high amount of health due to it's great bulk, leech seed, will-o-wisp, and protect. Does great against bulky waters that Gengar and Aegislash struggle against, such as Swampert and Milotic, and just plain outlives things most of the time. Infernape is the only thing I've come across that wrecks me, but my AI partner's team has it covered. I just need to switch in Gourgeist on the close combat and protect, and by then it's already gone. Fire types in general are somewhat of a threat to my team, but as long as I'm not overwhelmed they can be handled. Unfortunately that's exactly what happened when I lost.

My losing battle: XCQW-WWWW-WWW3-9YRU

Two fire types, Landorus, and Thundurus. There wasn't much I could do since Thundurus destroyed my partner's team and I only had Gourgeist to deal with Ninetales at the end.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
252 SpAtk / 4 HP / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 30/x/22/31/25/31
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- Dark Pulse
- U-Turn

Lead that usually gets me a free kill early against most reasonable things (lol Ninjask.) Hydreigon was added last after I realized the amazing synergy between all 3 of them, and as a lead allows me to 1. make it 3-2 or 2. U-turn to a better Pokemon for the situation. The only problem here is Draco Meteor isn't quite as powerful as I usually hope (how many times has a miss let an Umbreon live after Leftovers...) Hydreigon also has a very surprising amount of bulk, even living a Staraptors CC! Other moves/nature is obvious and the Scarf is because we just needed a revenge killer and an early U-turn to Aegislash really does help.

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Brave Nature
IVs: 25/31/30/x/30/x
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield
- Shadow Sneak
- Sacred Sword

Obvious physical sweeper, we all know how Aegislash works.

Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper (For annoying sleep)
252 HP / 252 SAtk / 4 SpDef
Modest Nature
IVs: 29/x/20/31/30/30
- Dragon Pulse
- Flamethrower
- Muddy Water
- Sludge Bomb

I thought Assault Vest would be perfect, but even with Aegislash it ends up taking a lot of physical hits, so would really like ideas on this, otherwise very good special tank.

This. Advice?

I lost at 156 with lolnubs Truant team. Let me just say; do NOT setup against a ferrothorn that's spamming curse. +6 def with leftovers and ingrain means you can't kill him. Will try again later.

Considering going with eviolite dusclops instead of spritzee@eviolite for my trick room setter in super triples, using t-punch+PoPunch+Shadow Punch for coverage+STAB. Currently at a 108 streak with the team, so I have gone past my record in triples. Had a few scares, but nothing too serious. I fear I will miss the potential screen setup for extra defence, but being immune to fake out/explosion may prove to be superior, and also with the superior defence, having 500 def+s.def with ev's+nature spread for as close as possible to keep the same def and s.def value, with the 252 ev's in HP.

How do you think it will work in triples? I know its effective in doubles, so wondering if its viable in triples when it comes to % chance for him to not be able to set trick room.

Also, I am considering taking out the def/s.def ev's+nature in most of the ones im currently using to instead go for a style like with Abomasnow, using 252Hp+252 S.atk/Atk for all of them to get that extra power to take out mons with 1-2HKO instead of 3-4HKO

Edit: For Multi, I am considering going with bulky M-Scizor+Azumarill (CD/Muscle band/Splash plate/Wide lens+Aqua tail, not decided yet) with a partner that got a special Goodra with rain dance and the damp stone, with a special Alakazam with wise glasses. How do you think that would work? Goodra using Rain Dance gives great defense against fire for Scizor AND powers up Azumarills water moves.

how i lost: Boufferant kills with headsmash crit my Kangama , after defeating it with chomp, starmie enters the field and sweeps my Team with Ice Beam (Earthquake did not kill) and Thunderbolt.

Right now I'm grinding the Maison for the Power Items with my in-game team.

Mega Lucario literally soloed Nita. With the random EVs it had from in-game and with a random mixed set.

(I used Blastoise and Delphox too, for anyone still grinding for the power items)
