Bronzong (GP 1/2)

For the trick room bronzong you should add mental herb as an option incase you lead with it, it's mostly for deoxys leads, you can trick room while they taunt then gyro ball/SR/Explode

That is completely situational because Deoxys-S is the only one who ever runs Taunt anymore and even if this situation did arise I'd rather it Taunt Zong so I could 2HKO it with Gyro Ball and be up a pokemon with only rocks on my side. Anyway regarding Bronzong walling extreme killer arceus better then Forretress I'd have to disagree because Arceus runs ground/ghost/normal not ground/dragon/normal so it can still hit Ghost Arceus and Shadow Force is stronger then Earthquake and hits Zong neutrally. I still agree though that Forretress isn't common but then again I personally haven't seen a whole lot of Jirachi in Ubers either to be honest.

No on mental herb because Gyro Ball is a 2HKO on Deoxys-S. Bronzong can just switch out if you want to and come back in later.

Arceus runs Shadow Claw as its main move, Shadow Force is also easily predictable and it sucks in general because it gives a free switch in to things like Chansey and Ferrothorn. While powerful, the charge up turn means Arceus can attack Forretress twice while only hitting Bronzong once.

I didn't say Jirachi is more common than Forretress. Forretress can't wall things at all but come in on resisted hits.

Sorry for a double post, but my post wasn't answered, if Macro Brace is not suitable on the trick room set I would like to know why, since I have tried this set before and found life Orb and Macro Brace are equally useful

I think Macro Brace need to be mentioned somewhere for the trick room set. I understand uber tier is faster than OU and Zong is often slow enough to power up Gyro ball, but slower pokemon such as Chansey, support Groudon, and Tyranitar still exist and are hit harder by Macro brace gyro ball than life orb. Plus macro brace gives no recoil damage

Edit: Also if Macro Brace is used, trick becomes an option over SR and explosion to cripple a fast sweeper when TR ends

Macho Brace only boost the power of Gyro Ball. Without Life Orb, Bronzong doesn't even OHKO Ho-Oh with Rock Slide or 2HKO most Dialga with Earthquake. Also Bronzong is very slow already does the lower Speed helps it outspeed anything in Trick Room but Ferrothorn who still walls Bronzong to hell anyway.

I think Leftovers at least deserves a mention in the Trick Room set because even though the loss in power is substantial it greatly increases Bronzong's longevity and can even give it a second chance to set up TR. Also Ho-Oh isn't a completely foolproof counter to Trick Room Bronzong or the other for that matter (even though it probably won't run Rock Slide) because in the Rain max attack Sacred Fire only manages 60.4% - 71.6% and that's Adamant. This means Zong can switch in to Stealth Rock 4 or 5 times and still survive while Zong has a chance to OHKO with Rock Slide with no rocks and assuming it doesn't get burnt 86.1% - 102%. It obviously cleanly OHKOes with rocks with no burn but if it does get burnt it manages 44.2% - 52.1% which can OHKO with rocks. In the rain it's completely fair game and it's shaky at best. I would mention this in counters since it's pretty important. I know Groudon is always with Ho-Oh but Kyogre should also always be with Bronzong. "It fears nothing" is a bit over the fence since it also hates Toxic on the switch.

If you read carefully, I mentioned Trick Room can be used on the Tank set if you are looking for something to set up Trick Room repeatedly.

50% to burn and resisting Gyro Ball is scary enough for Bronzong to retreat when not using Rock Slide and Trick Room isn't active. Explosion can take out Ho-Oh too. Ho-Oh commonly carries Substitute so Toxic can only hurt it on the switch in. Bronzong can be used with Groudon as well, by resisting both of Groudon's weaknesses to Grass and Ice. Since Groudon loses to Cresselia, Lugia, Grass Arceus, and other counters, Bronzong can defeat all those walls with Toxic easily. Bronzong can fit in any team looking for a tank or supporter regardless of weather.

Macho Brace still deserves a mention in Other Options alongside Trick since it can screw up a lot of things that rely on their speed - Giratina-O won't be switching in since Bronzong walls it and Arceus risks eating a Toxic.

He was referring to the Trick Room set though so Bronzong will lack Toxic to hit Arceus or Giratina-O. I will just mention it anyway since you posted it :P Fireburn's the best. Bronzong misses Leftovers recovery a lot so it's Other Options material.

I understand that but if it is using Rock Slide you cannot say it "fears nothing". All you would need to add is "Ho-Oh is probably the best counter to Bronzong as it fear nothing bar the rare Rock Slide and can easily set up a Substitute on poor Bronzong." Weather arguments aside what if it hits it on the switch? You can't switch it in as carelessly as you would switch in Ferrothorn or Soul Dew Latias to Kyogre. Also it clearly doesn't fear nothing if Explosion can OHKO it as you mentioned your self.

I will add in the Rock Slide mention. Keep in mind, Latias does not enjoy Specs Ice Beam Kyogre or a Thunder Wave in the face even with Soul Dew. Ferrothorn just gets raped by Specs Water Spout or Hydro Pump or even a burn from Scald.

Thank you:) It's just when I was newer and was going off of analyses and someone failed to mention that there's a way for the pokemon it checks to hurt it. Latias and Ferrothorn are great examples against Kyogre as you mentioned. No hard counters for any Ubers:(

[Overview]

This generation brought nothing new to Bronzong,; however, its it is still a very reliable supporter in the Ubers tier. It has so many resistances to many common attacks seen in the Ubers tier, such as Dragon, Ice and Ground. Brozong has only one weakness, but thanks to the popularity of Kyogre, even that weakness can be remedied. Thanks to all these qualities, Bronzong is a great support Pokémon in Ubers, whether its is setting up dual screens or just walling threats. Bronzong's unique typing and ability sets it apart from other Steel-types seen in the tier. Unfortunately, though, Bronzong does not have access to any recovery moves, so Wish support is greatly appreciated.

[SET COMMENTS]

In the Ubers tier, there are generally only 3 common Steel-type Pokemon,: Ferrothorn, Jirachi and Steel Arceus. Skarmory? Dialga is neutral to Dragon-type attacks, so it is left out in the list. Bronzong has an Earthquake immunity thanks to Levitate, which allows it to completely wall many threats that the other Steel-types can only dream of achieving. Skarmory? Bronzong makes an excellent user of Stealth Rock, which greatly limits the life span of many Ubers, such as Ho-Oh, Rayquaza and Shaymin-S. Bronzong is capable of walling Rayquaza if theat dragon decides to drop a Fire-type attack, and it also completely walls Shaymin-S.
watch out for commas in this paragraph

Toxic can be used to take out bulky Pokemon such as Lugia, who and Ground Arceus can't touch Bronzong in return.???? Keep in mind, that Bronzong needs Toxic to bring down bulky sweepers such as Calm Mind Recover Arceus and Groudon. Gyro Ball is Bronzong's most powerful attack, and because of that is staple. so it makes a fairly staple attack. Due to Bronzong's low Speed, Gyro Ball can 2HKO Mewtwo and Darkrai after Stealth Rock damage with it. If you really hate Heatran, or want to at least prevent Dialga from coming in for free, Earthquake makes a decent option. Earthquake wrecks the occasional Magnezone as well too. Momentum is a very important thing to have in Ubers., and Bronzong can keep a team's momentum by setting up dual screens, which also soften the blows Bronzong has to swallow. For example, with Reflect, Bronzong can easily wall Extremekiller Arceus. Light Screen gives Bronzong a chance to live a Scarf Blue Flare from Reshiram in the sun!

Leftovers is the standard item on defensive Pokemon. However, Light Clay can be used to prolong the screen effects, which can be helpful for most offensive based teams. The EVs are straight forward, max Special Defense and Hit points because Special Attacks are rather common in the Ubers tier. Max Defense and a Relaxed nature can be used to better check non Fire Punch Groudon, any Swords Dance Arceus forme, and Rayquaza lacking a Fire-type attack. Trick Room can also still be used on this set over a screen move.

[Additional Comments]

Wish support from the likes of Chansey or Blissey is very useful due to Bronzong's lack of a reliable instant recovery move. With Wish support, Bronzong can stay alive much longer and capable of taking repeated abuse. Bronzong is very vulnerable to Trick users, so Giratina-O makes a great partner. Kyogre is a staple on rain teams, which where Bronzong generally find its home in. Bronzong resists Grass-type attacks and checks Grass Arceus for Kyogre, while Kyogre drowns any Fire-type and brings torrential rain to the field. Ho-Oh is a decent partner for to Bronzong as well, since because Ho-Oh absorbs Fire-type attack easily, but Bronzong prefers to play in the rain. Palkia pairs up well with Bronzong by resisting Fire-type onslaughts,; Bronzong in return soaks up Dragon-type assaults and providesing screens support at the same time. Tentacruel can survive Fire-type attacks easily and can wear down Kyogre with Toxic Spikes support. Bronzong helps take out Ground Arceus and Groudon for Tentacruel.

Bronzong's aforementioned resistances gives it plenty of opportunities to come in and set up slap in some screens. Bronzong It can brave come in on Earthquake, Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse, Draco Meteor or even Seed Flare with little worry and use that time to set up both screens. With Dual Screen support, frailer sweepers such as Rayquaza and Lucario can clean sweep easily. As an For example, Rayquaza can survive a Spacial Rend from Palkia, Swords Dance up, and KO Palkia the next turn, a feat Rayquaza normally cannot achieve. If Reflect is up, Lucario can actually survive an Earthquake from Groudon, nearly KOing back if it has two Swords Dance boosts under its belt while a +4 Close Combat can almost KO any Groudon. Groudon is also a decent candidate to abuse screens support., as even Choice Specs Kyogre's Ice Beam will fail to OHKO Groudon with Light Screen support, while a +2 Earthquake will OHKO any Kyogre variant.

[SET]
name: Trick Room Zong
move 1: Trick Room
move 2: Gyro Ball
move 3: Earthquake
move 4: Stealth Rock / Explosion
item: Life Orb
ability: Levitate
nature: Brave
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

Just like in OU, Bronzong is one of the most reliable users of Trick Room. Gyro Ball is standard fare, as it provides STAB coverage and can nearly OHKO Darkrai or Mewtwo. The Other speedy Pokemon in Ubers are easily eliminated by Bronzong. Explosion can still be used to tear holes in the opponent's team, despite the nerf. Explosion allows a Trick Room sweeper to switch in for free. Earthquake can 2HKO Dialga and finishes Heatran in one hit. Stealth Rock can be used if you have no one else to set it up. Bronzong also shares great typing synergy with many hard hitting Trick Room sweepers such as Victini and Dialga. Both appreciates a Ground-type immunity and a check to Darkrai. Bronzong can survive a +2 Dark Pulse from Darkrai, set up Trick Room, and explode to take out Darkrai as well.

[Additional Comments]

Using Life Orb allows Bronzong to have some decent fire power. Unlike the previous set, this Bronzong set aims for a more offensive approach. As such, having dedicated Trick Room sweepers are a key to Bronzong's success. While most Ubers are bulky, Bronzong has that auspicious typing and isn't vulnerable to hazards at all, which allows it to set up Trick Room easily. Sweepers under Trick Room conditions such as Victini, Kyogre, and Reshiram will appreciate Bronzong's support, as Bronzong can even give them a free switch in through Explosion. Zekrom makes a good partner as well for smashing opposing Kyogre to bits. Stallbreakers such as Zekrom and Rayquaza are very useful, because since defensive teams are the bane of Trick Room teams. If you really hate Ho-Oh, Rock Slide can be used to OHKO the turkey. Dialga and Palkia make awesome partners not only because of their sheer power, but also because they are the main users of Trick Room in Ubers. Palkia also boasts a 4x resistance to Fire-type attacks, which is Bronzong's only weakness. Dialga can lure in and smash Blissey with Outrage, paving the way for specially offensive Pokemon to sweep under Trick Room.

[Other Options]

Bronzong can used a Calm Mind set with Flash Cannon or Psychock, but it's generally a waste of Bronzong's walling prowess. Grass Knot is Bronzong's strongest move against Groudon, but Groudon cannot touch Bronzong outside of Fire Punch anyway. Kyogre takes little damage from Grass Knot due to its mammoth Special Defense, so Grass Knot isn't worth using over Bronzong's standard attacks. Rest can be used for recovery, but its is unreliable especially with the new sleep mechanics. Rock Slide can 2HKO Ho-OH but does nothing else. Heat Proof can be used to fool the opponent but is generally a horrible option because since it makes Bronzong vulnerable to Spikes and Earthquake. Hypnosis is extremely unreliable, so it isn't recommended even when Bronzong can afford to miss a few times. Hidden Power Ice rapes [this word is BL inappropriate IMO, "rends" might be a better word, but it's up to you] Rayquaza and Garchomp for the 2HKO but is useless otherwise. Payback is only useful for stopping Sub Calm Mind Giratina-O from setting up on Bronzong, and but is generally a horrible option. Macho Brace can be used to produce a more powerful Gyro Ball and can be used in conjunction with Trick to cripple sweepers.

[Checks and Counters]

Ho-Oh is probably the best counter to Bronzong, as it fears nothing but the occasional Rock Slide or Toxic on the switch in, and can easily set up a Substitute on poor Bronzong. Sacred Fire will not only burn Bronzong, but also eliminate it Bronzong. Kyogre sets up on Bronzong, and Specs Water Spout is an OHKO on Bronzong. Steel Arceus can set up on Bronzong for free, as it doesn't fear Toxic. Keep in mind, that Bronzong might be able to set up screens on Arceus too. Giratina laughs at whatever Bronzong has and can burn you. Heatran walls it you if it you lacks Earthquake and has STAB Fire-type attacks to hurt Bronzong. Ferrothorn and Skarmory use Bronzong as free set up time. Reshiram hates Earthquake, but Choice Specs Blue Flare in the sun will OHKO Bronzong even through Light Screen. Manaphy gets to set up on Bronzong easily, and has Hydration to heal of status. Keep in mind most of the counters listed hate taking an Explosion to the face bar Giratina and the Steel-types. Mono attacking Dark Arceus can easily set up on Bronzong and shrug off Toxic with Refresh.

Fixed the analysis according to the lst GP check. Only thing I didn't add is Skarmory. Since Skarmory's usage is pretty uncommon in Ubers at the moment, I didn't mention it. Although Skarmory stops all the common SD Arceus formes, I don't think it is considered common.

Leftovers is the standard item on defensive Pokemon. However, Light Clay can be used to prolong the effects of the dual screens, which will help most offensive teams.
