Welcome to the beginning of CAP24! Let's keep this party rolling.

Naturally we want this CAP to be headed by a strong leadership team, particularly a Topic Leader that is willing to jump in headfirst with optimism, knowledge, and a positive outlook. If you have served successfully as leadership in the past, you very well might be a good fit again for CAP24. This CAP is also a great opportunity for some new rising starts to step up and lead the community!

This is the thread for people to announce their desire to become either the Topic Leader (TL) or a member of the Topic Leadership Team (TLT) for this creation project (CAP 24). Do not suggest other users. If someone wants to become the TL or a TLT member, they will post on their own, and if they don't have a strong urge to be it then they shouldn't be signing up anyway. The CAP project requires the utmost dedication and a substantial amount of free time, especially to lead, meaning that only those who have carefully considered the magnitude of their application will apply at all. If you are not prepared to fulfill all of the responsibilities to the very end, then do not throw your hat into the ring.

We are looking to fill the following five positions to help us lead the creation of this new Pokemon:
  • Topic Leader: In the public's eyes, this is the leader of the project. They will create the slate for Concept Submissions and serve as a general timekeeper. Overall, the goal of the TL is "quality control", not "project control". The responsibilities of the TL include running Concept Assessment, Threats Discussion, and finalizing the slates of TLT members.
  • Topic Leadership Team: The TLT will be leading the four major competitive aspects of creating a Pokemon. They will make slates for their respective threads and provide meaningful discussion points to their specific area. Note that TLT members are allowed to make submissions during stages of the CAP process that they are not actively leading. We are looking to fill the following four positions:
    • Typing Leader
    • Ability Leader
    • Stats Leader
    • Movepool Leader

When making your application, please indicate which position(s) you are applying for. You must identify whether you're applying for TL or TLT (you are allowed to apply for both). You are allowed to specific which position you'd like to fill on the TLT, but it is not required. Topic leaders and TLT members should have the following qualifications:
  • Timeliness; each leader must be able to commit the time to active leadership
  • Deep knowledge of the game of Pokemon
  • Specific knowledge of the CAP Metagame and the Pokemon/Strategies/Threats within it is very helpful, and if you don't have this already you at least need the willingness and motivation to learn quickly
  • Familiarity with competitive Pokemon concepts, strategy and philosophy, as practiced within Smogon
  • Willing to voice opinions and lead others
  • Open-minded to new ideas
  • Creative, "outside-of-the-box" thinker
  • Good writing skills
  • Level-headed when resolving disputes
  • Liked and respected by the CAP community
  • Be willing to work with their assigned stage and partners

Once this CAP starts, the Topic Leader and the Topic Leadership Team will be the most important, most visible members of the CAP community, and they are expected to be a strong guiding force throughout the creation process. If you are selected for any of these positions, you will have a great deal of power to influence the project. But you also have a responsibility to stay on top of things. You will have forum moderators to help you, but you need to be regularly active on the project until it is complete. All potential candidates should look through both the Topic Leadership Guide onsite and the CAP Process Archive subforum, to get an idea of what will be expected of you, if you are selected to be the CAP 24 Topic Leader or a TLT member.

This thread is strictly for candidacy posts and posts supporting those candidates. Please stay on topic. Below are the guidelines for posting in this thread:
  • Candidates must have been actively involved through the entire duration of the most recent CAP project. Involvement in multiple CAP projects is strongly preferred.
  • Do not suggest other people. If you want you encourage someone else to run, then send them a PM or talk to them on IRC.
  • If you are new to the CAP project, do not sign up in this thread. Instead, spend a project or two lurking, learning, and participating first.
  • Include a summary of your involvement in the CAP project, the CAP Metagame, and in other singles 6v6 tiers.
  • Make a pitch for why you should be selected. If you can't present and defend yourself, then you can't expect to lead a project whose primary function is discussion and debate. Convince us that you are a good choice.
  • Poor spelling, punctuation, and grammar are great ways to look as though you don't know what you're talking about. A thoughtful and intelligent community leader should be capable of typing at a level above typical internet banter.
  • Even if you don't think you are better qualified than certain other candidates, you still should consider posting your application. Candidates not selected as TL or TLT for this project will be on the watch list for next time around. Don't post your name if you don't intend to be active in the project, even if you are not selected, since people will be scrutinizing your involvement more closely.
  • Do not post disparaging remarks about any candidates.

If these rules are not followed, the offending user will be subject to moderation.

Best of luck to all applicants! Knock 'em dead!

Applying for any position except Topic Leader with preference to Typing.

Hi, I'm Mova, but many of you CAPpers seem to know that by now. I've been unofficially advertising for these projects since the tail end of the Updates and for the majority of CAP 23, which we now call Pajantom. Other than making an effort to spread positivity on CAP's Discord channel, I have mostly focused on improving in artistic skills, as I do not actually battle much. Art is the main reason I've taken a liking to the typing stage, so I'd like to help out with what I can.

Heyo, I’m applying for any TLT position (would not prefer stats at all but I could manage). I’m SHSP, and I’ve been a CAP player since Malaconda and participated in the last two: Kerf actively on the forums, and Paj through conversations on Showdown and Discord. I’ve been on the runner up Sunny Side Up Sunkerns in CAPTT 3, made semifinals in the CAP Ladder Tour and had varying success in the various seasonals and ladder. My teammates for CAPTT can vouch for my ability to lead, be it discussion or anything of that sort, or keeping people on track and focused without being harsh or rude. I have a strong knowledge of the current metagame, and offer a variety of ideas new and old to create a solid stage of whatever I would be chosen for. I’m a Voice on the Showdown room, and have proven to be a positive influence on and off Smogon and Showdown. My senior year of high school is winding down so I’ve been gifted an abundance of free time to commit to this project, and my experiences being an English nerd in school contribute well to my writing skills. In addition, I have a support base of numerous strong CAP players to consult for advice, discussion and new ideas to add to any given stage. Overall, I feel as though I am a strong, qualified candidate for TLT, and I hope the CAP community agrees.

I would like to apply for the position of TL as well as for the each of the TLT positions, except for Movepool Leader.

I first began acquainted with CAP during the Syclant playtest, though I didn't become a regular contributor to the CAP process until late in the Kitsunoh playtest. I am intimately familiar with the CAP process, and understand well the democratic and competitive values that CAP embodies.

One of the qualities I expect to distinguish me from other candidates is competitive experience. I remain one of the most active and successful players on the CAP ladder. I have a strong understanding of the qualities that make Pokemon successful in a metagame, as well as the qualities that push Pokemon too far. I have played at a high level in a diverse group of metagames, including OU, UU and Ubers for every generation since DP.

I have extensive leadership experience both in real life and on Smogon: I have been a super moderator and a tier leader for DPP UU and BW OU. I was the TL for Tomohawk, the first CAP of 5th Generation. My experiences as both a tier leader and especially as a pastor (in real life) have given me extensive experience with managing opposing factions and viewpoints with tact and dignity, as well as casting a vision without making unilateral decisions. As an older user (I am 34 years old), I am mature enough not to get drawn into flame wars or organizational drama.

I am excited for CAP 24, and I'm looking forward to seeing the leadership team form!

I am applying for TL and TLT however I'd prefer anything over movepool.

It's coming up to my second year in CAP now, within that time I've watched Crucibelle's process whilst participating in Kerfluffle, Pajantom. Not only this, but I was heavily involved with the update process contributing as much as possible to most discussions, whether they were on threads or on PS! I've made quality contributions to both PRC and the Metagame forums over my time in CAP, showing I'm capable of future quality posts. I'm familiar with Pokemon mechanics after playing competitively for 3 years, and have attained knowledge about CAP from a different generation, that being Gen 6 where I initially started playing CAP.

I'd like to think my involvement and familiarity with the metagame is decent due to my position on the VR council, as well as host of CapTT (caps biggest metagame development point) and other tournaments. CapTT was my first big responsibility in CAP and I feel as if I handled it well, this fuels my confidence to handle the responsibility of TLT. I've discussed many things with an abundance of people in the CAP room, and while I may be stubborn at times I enjoy it a lot which is a big motivation for me to apply for TLT. My Voice in the CAP room shows that I am a trustworthy individual for this position, reinforced by close relations to a lot of contributors and metagame players I will hopefully be able to hear and get across as many opinions as possible.

I would like to apply for TLT, specifically Ability Leader, but I'm fine with Movepool or Typing.

Now although I have been contributing to CAP for a reasonably short time compared to others, but I actually began lurking in CAP towards the back end of Crucibelle. However, I have been active in the CAP Prevo process since last April with the beginning of Prevo updates, and have been working hard ever since. In fact, I would like to quickly brag that I contributed nearly every competitive aspect to Rebble, as well as attempted to lead a discussion on how Stratagem's role (Breaking the Mold) could function in the LC meta, while still keeping flavor in the forefront. In main CAP, I contributed a fair amount to Pajantom's creation, mainly in ability (I was one of the first to purpose Tough Claws which made it pretty far) and in movepool (my submission got top 3). I also routinely talked with esteemed CAP23 Topic Leader snake_rattler on how the CAP process works and on what he liked and didn't like about CAP23's general creation.

My main experience in the CAP meta comes from my involvement in CAPTT and room tours. However I do still consider myself as pretty well versed in the CAP meta, and I do from time to time discuss it with snake. I've also done a fair amount of research on my own, going through replays, analyses and generally assessing the metagame. As for experiences in other metas, I have a very strong grasp of general competitive Pokemon. I play a ton of LC and CAP LC, and have participated in LCPL and CAPTT respectively for each. In LC in particular I have been an active contributor for going on 2 years now, and I'm a voice in the LC chat on PS! for being a helpful presence. I'd definitely say I have a firm grasp of Pokemon strategy and concepts due to my LC experience across multiple past metas and OMs.

In terms of writing, I have written over 20 analyses, 3 articles, 7 of the old Facebook Spotlights, 1 of the new ones (working on a second currently), received a Tier Contributor badge, and I generally enjoy informative and argumentative writing, which I feel makes me a good candidate for writing about my opinions as a member of the TLT.

Overall, I feel my knowledge of Pokemon, my writing skills, my large activity and experience in CAP, especially the Prevo project would make me a successful member of the TLT, and I feel I could effectively bring my knowledge to the team and make a meaningful contribution to CAP24.

I would like to apply for TLT, preferably Ability or Typing.

I first became aware of CAP around when Cawm's Final Product went up and spent most of the following projects lurking. I have participated lightly and all of the projects that came after Cawm, though my participation greatly increased after Crucibelle. I've also been a part of some of the pre-evolution projects, with the ones I remember the most being Volkritter and Cawdet. Although most of my activity tends to be in the CAP discord server and Showdown, I've recently began to increase my activity in the forums with the 3D Animation project, Art threads and the actual process threads with most of my posts going into the ability and typing discussion threads. Most of my conversations have been with Quanyails, Snake_Rattler and Deck Knight, of which the most relevant was my strong support of Comatose for Pajantom's ability and the arguments given in said CAP's ability thread.

I would like to apply for TLT because I believe my knowledge of Pokemon and approach to the process, alongside my writing skills, will allow the thread I'd preside over to generate valuable opinions and discussion that would put CAP 24 in the path to success. I've got a great appreciation for the community and have long held interest of participating in a CAP's creation through the position of a topic leader since I feel it would be a fantastic way to aid the process and put my knowledge and thoughts in the position to be truly utilized by the community.

I'm applying for Ability or Typing because I feel those are the stages of the process to which my knowledge would translate the most, since I am not sure I have the necessary experience with movepools and/or stats to truly make as good a contribution as I'm sure many other members of this community would be able to. I'm also not applying for TL because I feel I still lack the experience as a TLT and thus jumping straight to TL would thus jeopardize my ability to truly work with the TLT and produce a quality product.

I'm very excited to see what the TLT for CAP 24 will look like, and to see what kind of concept and Pokemon will come out of it.

Applying for TLT Typing and Ability

I have been contributing to CAP since a little before CAP 22 and have been around the community ever since then. I have been around throughout many events such as the CAP updates and cap creations such Kerfluffle and Pajantom; I have been contributing not only on forums but on the PS! chatroom and the CAP Discord channel. I have hosted a CAP tournament which I have never missed deadline or post. I also have been very involved in CAP throughout the years by being a PRC member, VR contributor, by writing analysis, playing in tournaments, actively voting in polls, and being an active chat member everywhere.

I have a great passion for CAP and it's community, thus encouraging me to push myself and apply to lead either the Typing or Ability phase as successfully and smoothly as possible. I believe I have sufficient knowledge of the CAP metagame as well as CAP knowledge in general to lead this process to the fullest. I am very interested by the Typing and Ability parts of the CAP process and feel it is the one where I possess the most knowledge on. I am highly motivated for the upcoming CAP and wish to be selected in order to bring the best out of this process!

Hi I'm applying for the TLT, preferably in typing
I have around 2 years playing in CAP and of competitive pokemon I have approx 4 years of knowledge. I have contributed in cap with a ton of thread, Spanish guides, and tours. In the creation of CAP I was always sticking around the process but never in discuss due I didn't want to people misunderstood what I was saying that's why I participated in all the polls.

I decide to apply for TL of typing due I build all my teams based on typing and I know very well what types work for what style and what type do and for what type is balanced.

For TLT I decide to do it because I think I can make a good job due I'm very good leader, very committed, I think outside the box and I'm a perfectionist and I care a lot of the small details

I would like to apply to be apart of the TLT during cap 24's process. I have no preference towards a singular position, would just like to be given the chance.

I joined the CAP chatroom at the tail end of Crucibelle and was politely introduced to the process and its inner-workings. Since then I have become one of the most active chatroom users and one of the most active CAP metagame players next to Heaven Jay. This activity extends to the other parts of cap in two main ways: one being involved in several activities, and the other being metagame discussion. In regard to the first point, I have not missed a major tournament since CAPTT 2, and in CAPTT 3 I led the Sunkern's to a second place finish in the absence of Animus Majulous. Two of the other notable activities I've participated in are both of the CAP Survivor series. I am also applying to be on the PRC for Cap 24 alongside of this, and plan to work more on using my knowledge on Pokemon analyses for CAP. Metagame knowledge is my second point, and I believe it makes me a contender for a TLT position. Just about everyone in CAP at some point has discussed with me my opinions on the current state of CAP and how the current metagame is shaping up; I recommend doing so if you have not already. I actively keep up with not only the CAP metagame, but other metagames as well, and I believe this knowledge makes me a valuable asset. It allows me to best steer discussion in a proper direction that best fits what the concept is looking for in the current metagame. For me, it is all about keeping the impact of what we are making on the metagame in the forefront of our mind, and personally I feel like this impact is severely overlooked at times.

Now to address the elephant in the room.

I am a very opinionated individual, and this gets me into a lot more trouble than I should be in with the moderation team in the chatroom. However, despite my past, I think I have worked well on reforming myself to become a better contributor, and under Cbrevan's tutelage I believe I will continue to improve. I can be quite the talkative person, but I feel like I can even use this to better whatever part of the process I would be involved in. I want to be extremely active in discussion with the big and the small user on Smogon and in the PS! chatroom. I know people see me as a sort of self-centered user, but this project is all about teamwork, and I hope to be able to show everyone in CAP that I can work with people as a unit.

Thank you for considering my application.

Loving the nominations thus far!

This will be wrapping up in roughly 48 hours from this post. If you need more time putting together a nomination, please don't hesitate to shoot me a PM and request more time.

This is NumberCruncher applying for Movepool Leader.

I've been heavily involved in the CAP metagame since Volkraken entered it, and the process since the Plasmanta process. I've contributed in every CAP since Plasmanta, including being part of every PRC since Naviathan. I do consistently well on the ladder and have done quite well in CAP tournaments, such as the first two CAPTTs and several room tours.

My hours are very flexible, and I can stay alert to the discussion as it evolves to guide it forward without getting overly bogged down. I chose movepool specifically because that one has historically trended either into slowing to a crawl or falling off the rails, and I have the drive to keep the discussion moving along.

I'll be running for TLT and I would like Typing but there is like 4 people preferring typing so I'll take anything that isn't named Movepool.

Anyways I have been a god in the chat room since I joined, I've been active in the chat room a lot then UU unbanned Mega Houndoom and I have became a known figure and as I am typing this I just got HL'd by both cbrev and reachzero and now I have to kill them for bugging me does humor count as a quality for TLT. Now I have participated in that there CAP 23 Playtest and got Top 8 and it was my first smogon tour, went into CAP Winter Seasonals and after getting destroyed round 1 (mxmts >_>) I have won twice in Losers Bracket and counting. And I was one of those guys in the CAP Leaderboard Tour and I got smashed round 1 by Snors brother, Jho AKA offler AKA insert all 37 alts here. I'm very active on the ladder cough hit number one once and I am currently 2nd cough as I try to make it better and more active. Of course this means I am familiar with the CAP Metagame, which I am, I know it very well. I know it so well that I happened to revive Stall like a god (see my signature). And I have a some-what good track record with mods in the CAP Community, I only got warned for dabbing, auto-muted by bot for stretching, and namelocked by someone you can probably guess. So yeah that's a thing gnite.

Applying for TLT in ability and typing.

My name is HeavenJay and I have been active in Cap for a very long time. I started getting into Cap at the end of Crucibelle playtest. When I first joined, I was interested in how a Cap was made. I want to be apart of creating a new capmon, so that’s why I want to apply for this position because my grammar skills aren’t the best. I am pretty active right after I get off school and can manage my time wisely. I have never really applied for these types of positions when creating a new cap. I just want to try it out and see if I can contribute to creating a new cap.

Now to talk about myself.
I am mainly known for cap battling. I have joined a lot of tournaments in Cap. I am also a huge tryhard in the cap ladder and try my best to stay at #1(not that it matters). I know a lot about the cap metagame and will make the new capmon adapt to the current metagame if I am nominated.

Thank you for considering my application.

Hello, I would like to apply for a position in the Topic Leadership Team, my order of preference would be Movepool>Abilities>Stats>Typing.

I've been playing Pokémon competitively since 2012, mostly playing OU in Pokemon Online, and I've been lurking in CAP since BW. During the last year, I started to actively contribute to the project, participating in the Gen 7 updates and CAP 23. I play in the CAP metagame, and I usually do pretty well in both ladder and tournaments. Additionally, I'm in charge of keeping the Role Compendium up to date, and I think I do good job at it. I believe I would be a good pick for a TLT position, as I possess extense knowledge of the CAP meta, and I'm responsible enough to handle this task.
