Diancie-Mega @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

Mega Evolves safely against either of these mons thanks to Protect. It cleanly KO's Latios with Moonblast and has a good chance of knocking out Heatran with Earth Power after Stealth Rocks.

Beedrill-Mega @ Beedrillite
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Drill Run

Can use protect to safely Mega Evolve, then OHKO Latios with U-Turn and KO Tran with Drill Run after very little previous damage. It can also run an Adamant nature to guarantee the OHKO on Tran while still outspeeding Latios.

252 Atk Mega Beedrill Drill Run vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 372-440 (96.6 - 114.2%) -- 75% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Adaptability Mega Beedrill U-turn vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 408-484 (136.4 - 161.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Tyranitar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly NAture
- Pursuit
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

T-Tar switches on most moves of the core (mainly fearing Draco Meteor and Lava Plume burns) and OHKOes both members with ease (Crunch can be used against Latios if he's at full health and T-Tar is at KO range).

252 Atk Tyranitar Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 320-380 (107 - 127%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Tyranitar Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 428-504 (111.1 - 130.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Low Kick / Swords Dance

Bisharp's priority Sucker Punch allows it to KO Latios before the latter can move while it is naturally faster than Heatran and can OHKO it with Low Kick after Stealth Rock. A +2 Sucker Punch or Knock Off will also KO Heatran if running Swords Dance is preferable. However, Bisharp can only switch into status moves or Psyshock.

Searching threats, please wait. Loading... found one result: Mega Metagross.

Metagross @ Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- Bullet Punch/Pursuit

Simply put, Mega Metagross can be a force to be reckoned with for this core. Thanks to its bulk, decent typing and Tough Clawed attacks, it can potentially tank a hit from its opponents and retaliate back with powerful Steel-type attacks and Earthquakes.

Vs. Latios

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Metagross: 126-149 (41.8 - 49.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 256-303 (85.6 - 101.3%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO

This scenario is quite simple: Mega Metagross hits Latios hard with Meteor Mash and tanks a Draco Meteor without issues. Or vice versa, I guess. If Latios doesn't fall to the Meteor Mash and Life Orb recoil, Mega Metagross can finish the job by either finishing it off with Bullet Punch or by Pursuit trapping it.

Vs. Heatran

0 SpA Heatran Lava Plume vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Mega Metagross: 200-236 (66.4 - 78.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 Atk Mega Metagross Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 452-532 (117.4 - 138.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Mega Metagross can resist a Lava Plume from Heatran and OHKO it back with Earthquake. Just beware of a potential burn: Mega Metagross doesn't like to become overheated!

Scolipede @ Life Orb
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Megahorn
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab
- Baton Pass

Not a switch in, but threatens to OHKO both lati and heatran. Even if you have something to switch into it, he can bp his speed boost to someone else.

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Superpower
- Bug Bite

Offensive Mega Scizor can SD safely against Latios and lure in Heatran for a kill with Superpower because the speed EVs make you faster.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 SpD
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Toxic

This one's more of a wall than a threat. In a 1v1 situation with both mons already in, Hippowdon can take a Draco Meteor and proceed to Slack Off that turn, preventing Latios from killing it in the following turns. After healing from Draco with Latios at -2, Hippowdon can use Toxic to wear it down or rocks while Latios is forced to switch out. Heatran also fails to quickly KO it and gets 1HKO'd by Earthquake in return.

252 SpA Life Orb Latios Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 112 SpD Hippowdon: 312-368 (74.2 - 87.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

NG jirachi

Jirachi @ Apicot Berry/Shuca Berry
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Iron Head
- Icy Wind
- Natural Gift
- Thunderbolt

This jirachi set is a huge threat to this core because of how latios is completely walled by Jirachi and while heatran would wall jirachi normally instead what happens is heatran is lure'd only to be ohko'd by natural gift ground thanks to the shuca or apicot berry. This allows jirachi to dismantle this core with a ton of ease. Decided to go mixed because mix rachi is cool and icy wind allows you to hit lati for some small damage and lower its speed which is cool as then you can iron head flinch it. speed evs are relevant for different things but because those pokemon are not in this core its not worth saying. You do however outspeed max speed tran though. Some calcs provided below.

Shuca berry damage:
252+ Atk Shuca Berry Jirachi Natural Gift (80 BP Ground) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 304-360 (78.9 - 93.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Apicot berry damage:
252+ Atk Apicot Berry Jirachi Natural Gift (100 BP Ground) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 384-452 (99.7 - 117.4%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Excadrill @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Swords Dance

Boring I know but Scarf Mold Breaker Excadrill just destroys these two. Outspeeds both members and obviously OHKOs Heatran, doesn't even mind being locked into EQ due to mold breaker bypassing Latios' levitate and doing a minimum of 74%. In return Latios can't 2HKO with any move due to the Draco SpA drop meaning Exca can easily switch in, and even the rare HP fire only does a maximum of 79% (watch out for surf though).

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Superpower / Earthquake

Before I start, sorry for the delay :x. Anyway, Tyranitar-Mega, probably one of the most unrated Megas of the Overused tier, threaten this core. Tyranitar OHKO Latios easily with Crunch and do a lot of damage to Heatran with Superpower. Earthquake is an option as well, but I think Superpower is better in this current metagame because it hits Lopunny-Mega. It can also switch into this core, 2 Draco Meteor cannot kill our mega, and Lava Plume do pitiful damage (pray for no burns or Will-O-Wisp).

Aerodactyl_Mega_XY_Shiny_Sprite.gif

Aerodactyl @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 Atk / 44 Def / 216 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Ice Fang / Pursuit / Crunch
- Fire Fang
- Aqua Tail / EQ

Aero deserves a mention bec it's a rather underrated mon in the current meta. Like the other threats it's not something you hardswitch into the two (even though especially in sand you could easily eat a hit) but otherwise it's rather straightforward. Ice Fang has a decent chance of knocking out latios after rocks, near guaranteed if adamant, and pursuit traps it. Crunch speaks for itself but it's not as common. Aqua Tail does about 80% on average to max hp tran, EQ for the guaranteed kill.

EDIT: 44 Defense EV's mean you always live a latios psyshock after rocks and you can proceed to trap it.

sigh always my first choice for partners

Fireworks (Manectric) @ Manectite
Ability: Lightningrod
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Overheat / Flamethrower
- Hidden Power Ice

Mega Manectric gives fantastic momentum for Latios with Volt Switch and gives it more opportunities to switch in. It also handles bulky Water-type Pokemon such as Manaphy, Suicune, and Azumarill (soft check), while lightening up physical damage done to the core thanks to Intimidate. Thanks to said ability and typing, it can check SpD Talonflame, which Heatran has serious issues against, offensive M-Scizor, M-Aerodactyl, M-Gyarados, Weavile, and M-Metagross. It does make the core a bit weaker to Tyranitar and Hippowdon, but the positives outweigh the negatives as a partner.

Taking Mega Scizor.

Ill’s got a vice grip, like ice running down your spine
This world, it’s got you in its sights

Vice Grip (Scizor) @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off / U-Turn / Superpower

Mega Scizor is a pretty cool partner for this core. The core is insanely weak to offensive Fairy types, including Azumarill, Mega Diancie, Mega Altairia, and Mega Gardevoir. Mega Scizor can set up on the former one and drop the latter three with a simple Bullet Punch. It can also set up against most Steel types and usually come out on top. In return, Heatran can check Talonflame, Skarmory, Mega Sableye & can switch in to Will-O-Wisp effortlessly. Latios can defeat Rotom-W and other bulky Water types.

EDIT: RIP Breloom...

I've decided to drop Breloom after running some calcs and studying the various scenarios, and... I'm afraid it doesn't fit this core very well. But do not despair, its void will be filled by a distant cousin. Say goodbye to the punching mushroom and hello to... a punching chestnut.

Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Leech Seed
- Drain Punch
- Spikes
- Wood Hammer

Chesnaught can handle most opposing Dark-types and Water-types that could be problematic for the duo, as well as provide additional hazard stacking with its Spikes. Meanwhile, its teammates can support it by checking opposing Fire-types, Grass-types (namely Mega Venusaur) and Psychic-types, which could all be an issue for the grassy pseudo-Buzz Lightyear.

Vs. Checks
252 Atk Life Orb Bisharp Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 105-125 (27.6 - 32.8%) -- 75.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Bisharp: 340-408 (125.4 - 150.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

0 SpA Slowbro Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 110-132 (28.9 - 34.7%) -- 99.6% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 252 HP / 232+ Def Slowbro: 188-224 (47.7 - 56.8%) -- 38.7% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 218-257 (57.3 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Weavile: 484-576 (172.2 - 204.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO

It may not be able to switch in directly on Weavile, but once inside it can demolish the frigid weasel with extreme ease.

(Calm Mind) 0 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Chesnaught: 54-64 (14.2 - 16.8%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
(Calm Mind) 0 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Chesnaught in Rain: 81-96 (21.3 - 25.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 240 HP / 252+ Def Manaphy: 198-234 (49.3 - 58.3%) -- 60.2% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

(Tail Glow+Rain Dance) +3 252 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Chesnaught: 171-202 (45 - 53.1%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
(Tail Glow+Rain Dance) +3 252 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Chesnaught in Rain: 258-303 (67.8 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 96 HP / 0 Def Manaphy: 272-324 (74.5 - 88.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Chesnaught can handle CM Manaphy and RainGlow Manaphy relatively well, as long as Manaphy lacks Ice Beam/Psychic and Chesnaught keeps applying pressure on Manaphy.

(ScarfTar) 252 Atk Tyranitar Superpower vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 85-100 (22.3 - 26.3%) -- 15.8% chance to 4HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Tyranitar: 316-376 (92.6 - 110.2%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

(Support) 0 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Chesnaught: 158-186 (41.5 - 48.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Tyranitar: 232-280 (57.5 - 69.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 124-146 (32.6 - 38.4%) -- 97.9% chance to 3HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Mega Tyranitar Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 182-216 (47.8 - 56.8%) -- 89.5% chance to 2HKO after sandstorm damage and Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Tyranitar: 240-288 (70.3 - 84.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Mega Lopunny High Jump Kick vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 138-163 (36.3 - 42.8%) -- 97.2% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Lopunny: 182-216 (67.1 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252+ Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Ice Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 112-134 (29.4 - 35.2%) -- 100% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252+ Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Ice Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 168-198 (44.2 - 52.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Gyarados: 254-300 (76.7 - 90.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Gyarados: 158-188 (47.7 - 56.7%) -- 87.5% chance to 2HKO

Beware of pre-Mega's Intimidate!

252+ Atk Strong Jaw Mega Sharpedo Ice Fang vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Chesnaught: 154-182 (40.5 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Chesnaught Wood Hammer vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Sharpedo: 366-432 (130.2 - 153.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 Atk Chesnaught Drain Punch vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Sharpedo: 228-270 (81.1 - 96%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power Fire
- Synthesis

Mega Venusaur counters Fairy-types such as Mega Diancie, Azumarill and Mega Altaria which give this core trouble while also being able to handle Weavile, Mega Gyarados, Bisharp and Excadrill. It also forms a nice defensive core with Heatran who is able to check Talonflame and Lati@s.

Shedinja @ Focus Sash
Ability: Wonder Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- X-Scissor
- Shadow Sneak
- Baton Pass

While this may seem rather unorthodox, Shedinja is a good partner to the core on M-Sableye or Xatu builds. With Latios clearing hazards and Heatran acting as something to absorb wisps and fire moves, Shedinja is able to return the favor by walling VoltTurners, such as SDTurn Scizor and Cobalion, which can give Latios and Heatran trouble. It also lures certain threats the core, such as Bisharp, Weavile and Landorus, and can either bust its sash to cripple them with wisp or, in the case of the former two, live their Pursuit after catching them on the switch. Baton Pass is used over SD so that it can escape T-tar switch-ins and proceed to either force it out with something or trap it with Dugtrio (another good partner to the core for this very reason).

Cm Clefable

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 SpD
Calm Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Thunder Wave/Focus Blast

This clefable set makes for a really good partner with this core thanks to its ability to beat pokemon such as opposing heatran thanks to t-wave. This clefable set Also finishes up a dragon/fairy steel core which gives this core some nice defensive synergy as this core is more suited for balance team. Clef can also beat pokemon such as starmie which is really annoying to the core of latios+heatran and can also cripple said starmie with t-wave. Clefable also loves scizor and ferrothorn gone which heatran handles while also checking electric types so that latios wont be as pressured to takes hits from mane, raikou and thundy. Focus Blast is a option over t-wave which also can help beat heatran but its more to lure tran in. Also latios beats mega venu for clefable.

This is a pretty cool contribution so I appreciate it. However Shedinja isn't really a standalone pokemon in the OU metagame and you basically referenced it needing Magic Bounce support. This is kinda like posting Sand Rush drill as a partner to a core which necessitates another partner on top of that (I believe I allowed this before). It isn't that that's not allowed, but keep in mind that it's almost like posting 2 partners, so it can't make the top partners really

ay ok new core

Gardevoir @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 16 HP / 8 Def / 232 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Taunt

Talonflame @ Sky Plate
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Premise is simple: Gardevoir nukes everything and Talonflame cleans up. Its fire typing allows it to threaten the steels that Gardevoir has problems with (i.e. Scizor, Skarmory).

Discuss threats

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 32 Atk / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

Mega Diancie isn't too scared of anything Talonflame can do, and doesn't even have to Mega evolve against it to guarantee the OHKO with Diamond Storm, which allows it to take less damage from Brave Bird. It can Protect up on Mega Gardevoir if it isn't already Mega evolved. Diamond Storm's rolls are in your favor to OHKO after Rocks (missing the roll would suck, so even a little bit of prior damage on Gardevoir would be nice). From there Diancie proceeds to shred the two.

+2 252 Atk Sharp Beak Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Diancie: 157-186 (65.1 - 77.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

32 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 120 HP / 0 Def Talonflame: 880-1036 (269.1 - 316.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

32 Atk Mega Diancie Diamond Storm vs. 12 HP / 8 Def Mega Gardevoir: 234-276 (83.5 - 98.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Victini. Fuck all your OU Pokemon.

Up in Flames (Victini) @ Leftovers
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 248 HP / 132 Atk / 68 Def / 60 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Taunt
- V-create
- Will-O-Wisp
- Bolt Strike

Stallbreaker Victini has no problem beating this core. Mega Gardevior fails to do any significant damage with any of its moves, as it gets absolutely destroyed by a V-Create. Talonflame fails to OHKO with a +2 Sharp Beak BB, and will get OHKO'd by Bolt Strike in return.

232 SpA Pixilate Mega Gardevoir Hyper Voice vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 113-133 (28 - 33%) -- 85.5% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

232 SpA Mega Gardevoir Psyshock vs. 248 HP / 68 Def Victini: 72-85 (17.8 - 21%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery

232 SpA Mega Gardevoir Focus Blast vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Victini: 77-91 (19.1 - 22.5%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Sky Plate Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 248 HP / 68 Def Victini: 319-376 (79.1 - 93.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
