Sableye @ Sablenite
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Foul Play
- Knock Off
- Will-O-Wisp
- Recover

Sableye avoids the 2HKO from Thundurus' Thunderbolt and Hoopa-U's Dark Pulse and it also doesn't care about Thunder Wave. Once it's in it can pretty much do whatever it wants, burn them, knock off their Life Orbs, or just KO them with Foul Play.

252 SpA Life Orb Thundurus Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Sableye: 122-146 (40.1 - 48%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Thundurus: 139-165 (46.4 - 55.1%) -- 65.6% chance to 2HKO

96 SpA Life Orb Hoopa Unbound Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Mega Sableye: 125-148 (41.1 - 48.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Hoopa Unbound: 288-340 (95.6 - 112.9%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

diggersby.gif

Diggersby @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch

Scarf Diggersby avoids the Thundy's twave and tbolt, although it can't switch into Hoopa-U, but nothing can lol. It ohko's hoopa and has a chance to ohko thundy, with the roll in your favor. Just spam return and things drop lol

252+ Atk Huge Power Diggersby Return vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Thundurus: 288-339 (96.3 - 113.3%) -- 75% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Huge Power Diggersby Return vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Hoopa-Unbound: 325-384 (107.9 - 127.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Azumarill @ Wacan Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Power-Up Punch

PuP Wacan Berry Azumarill aka Lord lures in Raikou and Mega-Manectric and destroys the entire checklist. For M-Mane, PuP on the switch, and Wacan Berry lets you tank a thunderbolt and KO with waterfall + aqua jet even after intimidate. (Even if you've had the intimidate drop and you haven't managed to get off a PuP yet, play rough + jet does 73.9% minimum, meaning you still win if Mane has taken SR damage twice, quite likely considering his role as a pivot).
Then you have waterfall for Hippowdon, play rough for M-Sableye, Swampert, ScarfChomp and Weavile, aqua jet for Lando, Exca, Diggersby, Diancie, Volcarona.
204 EVs into speed to outspeed most opposing Azu's.

More generally speaking, Azu works well with the two partners, complimenting them both to increase their effectiveness against all play styles: forms a terrifying wall breaking duo with Hoopa to punch massive holes in opposing balance and stall teams, and brings powerful priority to compensate for Hoopa's relatively slow speed and to compound the pressure put onto offensive teams by Thundurus.

If Raikou and M-Mane are well covered by the other three teammates then a more reliable standard CB or BellyJet set can be used :]

Manaphy @ Wacan Berry / Lum Berry
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 96 HP / 252 SpA / 160 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
- Tail Glow
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Energy Ball

Even though Manaphy does make the core a little weaker to Signal Beam Manectric and Raikou if not using a Wacan Berry, Manaphy is able to break down defensive Pokemon such as Hippowdon and Mega Sableye thanks to its absurd power after a Tail Glow. It also defeats Choice Scarf Landorus-T, Mega Swampert, and Volcarona. And on a shakier note, it's able to take a hit from full from Mega Diancie, Excadrill, and Diggersby and OHKO them all back.

Breloom @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb
- Spore

Breloom offers some additional insurance against offense, being able to revenge kill threats such as Excadrill and Diggersby while doing well against Rain teams and bulky grounds like Hippowdon. Rock Tomb allows Breloom to lure in and kill Volcarona, while Spore gives opportunities for frail Thundurus and Hoopa-U to switch in.

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Secret Sword
- Hydro Pump
- Icy Wind

With a Choice Scarf equipped, Keldeo manages to outpace threats such as Weavile, Scarf Garchomp and Mega Manectric and KO them with the appropriate move. It also scares out Hippowdon, Diancie and Lando-T by threatening them with a Water move. Sadly, Hydro Pump can't guarantee a OHKO on +1 Volcarona (although it can heavily dent it).

Excadrill @ Leftovers
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic

Thundurus and Hoopa-Unbound both face trouble from physical attackers, and neither particularly likes hazards. Dragon Dancers who have a Lum Berry can take out Thundurus and then Hoopa-Unbound, and let's not get started on Dragonite, who OHKOs both core members with a banded Outrage. Skarmory would also stop this, but Dragonite could also switch out. Skarmory also dies to special attacks. I suggest Excadrill, who has good bulk and is one of the game's best bulky spinners. This thing stops Scarf Tyranitar, Latias, Scizor and Mega Scizor, and most importantly gets rid of hazards.

garchomp.gif

Garchomp (F) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 228 HP / 176 Def / 104 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Dragon Tail
- Fire Blast

Bulky chomp set up rocks to secure some hko that the offensive core can provide, also is able to switch into priority moves that hoopa hates, also can take electric types that thundy hates and is able to live some hp ice if comes down to that

New core:

charizard-mega-y.gif

Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

metagross.gif

Metagross @ Assault Vest
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 160 Atk / 96 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit
- Bullet Punch
- Meteor Mash
- Earthquake

Zard Y + Pursuit trapper is a pretty common core. Generally paired with Tyranitar, Metagross offers the advantage of checking fairy types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Altaria much better. It also takes a lot less damage from Latios, and has a priority attack to help buffer against certain offense. Credit to AM for the core

garchomp.png

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock / Stone Edge

Garchomp can easily set up against Charizard Y and OHKO with +2 Dragon Claw or just OHKO with Stone Edge when unboosted and it easily outspeeds and has a good chance to OHKO Metagross.

+2 252 Atk Life Orb Garchomp Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 415-489 (139.7 - 164.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Garchomp Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 697-821 (234.6 - 276.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Life Orb Garchomp Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Metagross: 338-400 (92.8 - 109.8%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Sharpedo @ Sharpedoite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 224 Atk / 32 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Protect
- Crunch
- Hydro Pump / Waterfall
- Ice Fang

Although Sharpedo isn't the most common sight in OU, it completely shreds through this core with Strong Jaw boosted Crunch, which OHKOs both members. (Well, to be fair, it has a very good chance to OHKO Zard Y, rolls are in your favor, and any damage means it's dropping, even from something weak like U-turn.) As a bonus, it doesn't really matter which member it sets up on. Switch into either, click Protect, then watch the two drop.

252+ Atk Strong Jaw Mega Sharpedo Crunch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 280-330 (94.2 - 111.1%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

252+ Atk Strong Jaw Mega Sharpedo Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 362-428 (99.4 - 117.5%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Talonflame @ Leftovers
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Bulk Up / Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp / Taunt

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 248 HP / 252+ SpD Talonflame in Sun: 143-168 (39.8 - 46.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
160+ Atk Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Talonflame: 103-122 (28.6 - 33.9%) -- 98.7% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Without Zen Headbutt on Metagross this core is walled by Talonflame. Even with rocks on the field zard and gross fail to break through Talonflame. gg.

thundurus.gif

Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Thunder Wave
- Who gives a shit

The core needs a response to thundy. It can switch into focus blast or solarbeam, or just come in for free after zardY kills something. Metagross is 3hkod by tbolt and has no recovery so it can only tank the tbolt once on the switch in. Would post calcs but the damagecalc is trash on mobile.

Coverage moves dont really matter much for the core itself but limit potential teammates significantly. Knock off in particular ruins metagross though.

charizard-megax.gif

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Roost
- Dragon Dance

Charizard X sets up on Charizard Y and Metagross if it hasn't mega evolved yet and then runs through this core with +1 Dragon Claw and +1 Flare Blitz.

252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard X: 175-206 (58.9 - 69.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y: 319-376 (107.4 - 126.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Just for fun:
+1 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Charizard Y in Sun: 360-425 (121.2 - 143%) -- guaranteed OHKO

gyarados.gif

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Rest
- Waterfall
- Sleep Talk

Kind of a weird EV spread (and set in general, idk if spdef resttalk gyara with thunder wave is a thing). It's already a good check to regular metagross because it can switch in on any of its attacks because of a resistance to steel + intimidate. With spdef gyara, it can tank fire blast/solarbeam even after switching in on rocks and do a decent amount of damage with waterfall or cripple it with thunder wave to allow slower threats to set up or to clean up.

Minor nitpick: Metagross isn't affected by Gyarados' Intimidate due to its ability Clear Body.
So it isn't a one-liner, I'll take Chansey (will write it up a bit later).

chansey.gif

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell / Wish

Both members can't 2HKO Chansey after SR and 2 layers of Spikes while Chansey can paralyze them, wear them down with repeated Seismic Tosses and recover the damage with Soft-Boiled. Just pray that Metagross won't get an Atk boost from Meteor Mash.
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Chansey in Sun: 201-237 (28.5 - 33.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and 2 layers of Spikes
160+ Atk Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Chansey: 207-244 (29.4 - 34.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock and 2 layers of Spikes

Chansey Seismic Toss vs. 0 HP Mega Charizard Y: 100-100 (33.6 - 33.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Chansey Seismic Toss vs. 252 HP Metagross: 100-100 (27.4 - 27.4%) -- guaranteed 4HKO

Once upon a time, in Castelia City, an almighty Mega Charizard Y and an intellectual Assault Vest Metagross spread panic among Bug-type specialists after bringing an eternal sun, and challenged other Pokémon to beat them. And to their own surprise, a little adorable fire pixie accepted their challenge, apparently having no choice...

494.png
<- Here it is, praying for its (almost inevitable) victory.

Victini @ Choice Band
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- V-create
- Bolt Strike
- Zen Headbutt
- U-turn

Victini is the very definition of a nuke, having access to the rare V-create and being able to incinerate almost anything on its path. And that includes this core, since it can resist all of Mega Charizard Y's moves and a Earthquake, while being able to cleanly OHKO both members back with V-create under the sun, as well as out of the sun in Metagross' case.

494.png
Vs. Core
Vs. Mega Charizard Y

006-mega-y.png
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Victini in Sun: 156-185 (45.7 - 54.2%) -- 53.1% chance to 2HKO
006-mega-y.png
252 SpA Mega Charizard Y Fire Blast vs. -1 0 HP / 0 SpD Victini in Sun: 235-277 (68.9 - 81.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

494.png
252+ Atk Choice Band Victini Bolt Strike vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 476-560 (160.2 - 188.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
494.png
252+ Atk Choice Band Victini V-create vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y in Sun: 369-435 (124.2 - 146.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Bolt Strike may be the preferable choice when facing Mega Charizard Y, but V-create is capable to easily destroy Mega Charizard Y under its own sun. Meanwhile, Mega Charizard Y can't OHKO Victini back, not even after the V-create defensive drops.

Vs. Metagross

376.png
160+ Atk Metagross Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Victini: 230-272 (67.4 - 79.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
494.png
252+ Atk Choice Band Victini V-create vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 644-758 (176.9 - 208.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Thanks to its well-rounded HP and Defense, Victini can withstand a Earthquake from Metagross and destroy it back with V-create. Want to try to revenge kill it after Mega Charizard Y is down? Victini can outspeed Metagross even after the Speed drop and demolish it before it can even shake the earth.
And finally Castelia City got rid of those troublemakers and could celebrate the victory thanks to the little pixie named Victini, and lived happily ever after.

Volcarona @ Coba Berry
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 68 HP / 252 SpA / 188 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Giga Drain / Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power Rock

Volcarona can set up a Quiver Dance on Metagross and then proceed to sweep the core as +1 Fire Blast OHKOes Metagross while Hidden Power Rock takes care of Mega Charizard-Y. Coba Berry also allows you to beat Talonflame if your health is high enough.

Big spidertank coming through
heatran.gif

Heatran @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 28 HP / 252 SpA / 228 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Flash Cannon
- Earth Power
- Stone Edge / Ancient Power

Scarf Heatran mainly does a good job against these two. Suppose that Heatran comes in on a Fire Blast. Before ZardY hits the Focus Blast, it gets KOed by Stone Edge. The only thing you're scared of by Metagross is its coverage.Once it comes in safely Heatran can start denting Metagross with Fire Blast. Ancient Power is a decent choice, too. You can do some whittling down so you have enough prior damage to soundly OHKO both.

252 SpA Heatran Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 96 SpD Assault Vest Metagross: 236-282 (64.8 - 77.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
0- Atk Heatran Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 292-344 (98.3 - 115.8%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Heatran Ancient Power vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Mega Charizard Y: 236-280 (79.4 - 94.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Scarf Lando-T
landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 24 Def / 232 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Knock Off
- U-turn

Scarf Lando-T outspeeds both members and obviously OHKOs CharY with stone edge. Vs Metagross, earthquake is a solid 2HKO and KOs after a small amount of prior damage, whereas meteor mash + bullet punch can never 2HKO from full (only a 10.3% chance to 2HKO after rocks).
252 Atk Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Charizard Y: 580-684 (195.2 - 230.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Metagross: 284-336 (78 - 92.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

160+ Atk Metagross Meteor Mash vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Landorus-T: 166-196 (52 - 61.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

160+ Atk Metagross Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 24 Def Landorus-T: 75-88 (23.5 - 27.5%) -- 72.9% chance to 4HKO
Edit - Adamant fares even better and has a chance to OHKO, and now that most CharX run jolly specifically to outspeed scarf Lando, adamant may not actually be such a bad idea any more...

Latias @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 Spe
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Roost
- Hidden Power Fire
- Stored Power

Both Mega Charizard-Y and Metagross cannot touch Mega Latias at all, allowing it to accumulate Calm Minds. Hidden Power Fire 2HKOes Metagross at +2 while Metagross and Charizard barely manages to 3HKO Mega Latias.

keldeo-resolute.png

Keldeo @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Hydro Pump
- Secret Sword
- Icy Wind

Keldeo + Char-Y + Pursuit trapper is a tried and true core, taking advantage of their Pursuit weak counters by overloading and trapping them. Keldeo deals well with a lot of the problematic mons for this core while being able to provide some speed to an otherwise slow core. Additionally, Zard is a very useful partner for Keldeo in and of itself, as it can switch in and deal with Keldeo's checks that aren't as vulnerable to Pursuit trapping, such as Amoongus and Mega Venusaur.
