The First Lair
Here in the caldera of a long dead volcano the highest caste of Pokemon commune in the way that they know best, they speak a language that is universal to all dragons and all beings, the language of claws and power, of blood and pain, here the dragons fight.

The spoils of victory line the walls of the caves where the natives live, and in the center itself the ground is packed tight and cracked from pressure; for since the dawn of dragons there has never ceased to be a fight. They fight not for power, not for status, they fight because it runs in their marrow. These majestic beings fight because to conquer and subject is in their nature.

This is where the dragons originated. All species of dragons were born in this very place. Here they gathered together and tested their power against each other. This created a pressure of the very essence and soul of dragons that diffuses in the air. Dragons not used to this environment are overwhelmed by the assault of draconic power and as a result cannot harness their own innate abilities until they have adjusted. (Challenger Dragon Pokemon do not receive STAB benefits for 3a of battle time)

Recently, the Dragon Sords convened and granted an outsider special exception among their ranks. Charizard, the Dragon that never was, has been reborn as kith and kin through commune with humans. The Dragon Lords have permitted them into the pack on the condition that they only enter into the lair already in their draconic state. (Charizard may be brought by the Gym Leader and is always Mega evolved, holding Charizardite-X)

The dragons were born to rule and abhor all that would hold them back. This desire fuels the dragon's spirit, the spirit that infuses every substance near the lair. As a result, the tools of the dragons to defeat their natural adversaries are strengthened by the collective desire of all dragons to maintain their rightful place as Lords of all Pokemon. Well after a short stay here in the Lair last time we welcome you all back for what should be a much stronger challenge. IAR ran roughshod through the initial gym list and then waiting patiently for more to open up. Now he finds himself with a plethora of badges not in his position and has chosen that of the Dragon to be his first on the new road. Texas Cloverleaf is fresh off a dominating display on his first outing in this generation and now looks to back it up against a tougher challenge.

Rather than out and out counterteaming IAR brings with him a rather eclectic mix of mons. Outside of the token Fairy he looks to be relying on super effective coverage and neutrality to the Dragon's STABs to get him through, coupled with a very much enjoyed removal of that silly Ice Beam nerf of a generation prior. Of all he has with him it is Virus that I would take note of. Dragon's are not especially strong on Fighting coverage and the predicable Eviolite should serve the Porygon2 well while it fires away Analytic Ice Beams and Tri Attacks. King Odin needs to be wary though, his offence may be great but the Nidoking might lack the required defence to stand up to the onsloughts.

The Dragon Gym Leader may well relish the opportunity to try out some more of his new toys in this match. I have a feeling Zoan may take a back seat but Dragalge way to ruin my flavour with a lack of nickname stares across at a Fairy he just can't wait to poison. However for my liking it is Slasher who will truly shine for the leader. In my humble opinion he is one of those who best tackles the Dragon's new plights as his always powerful offences are now augmented by the new found usefulness of Iron Tail and Poison Jab.

Of course the best way to get this one started is with the toss of the coin. In my usual way heads sees Texas lead us off while tails has IAR taking the initial steps.

Also I take it I can use Trace without using an action when I am ordering second by virtue of not knowing who my opponent sends out, right?

Keen to show off the neutral power of his Virus right off the bat IAR attaches the obvious Eviolite and sets about it. The Dragon leader's new pet Zoan looks to do all he can in answer but even some Tough Claws boosted Brick Breaks aren't massively impressive through that boosted defence. Virus meanwhile shows off its signature Tri Attack that gets a couple of ability boosts not to mention a crit to take a healthy chunk from the megamon. The data Pokemon then has to Teleport in lieu of Volt Switching to try and gain some momentum and the non damaging action means some grounded Hidden Power isn't quite enough to stop Zoan at least winning the damage race. Even if it was only a slight win and he had to give up some firepower thanks to the Overheat.

IAR sets up the match up he wanted with everything working in his favour. STAB, Rivalry, Sheer Force, Life Orb buff all combine for really nice damage from King Odin's Earth Power. Unfortunately for the Random one in order to engineer all of these things he had to order first and this allowed Texas to carefully calculate everything and when hax stays away for a round Zoan is able to just barely avoid being KOed from two successive Earth Powers while responding with strong Earthquakes of his own before a little sub abuse sees the Mega Charizard get in the highest amount of damage he possible could (hint: it was a lot) before going down with an awesome Flying Flare Blitz. He did manage to catch himself on one of the Nidoking's Poison Points on the way through but it all matters for little when King Odin Counters back to drastically overkill Zoan who has set up this match perfectly for Texas on his way out. but then IAR reminds me that I forgot Sheer Force and Zoan still gets in a couple quakes but fails to execute the really cool combo and the round gets much more even and a lot less cool :(

No matter what I do it fucks me with its utter retardation

Fucking disgusting

Its either abused to shit and cripples my Haxorus

or this fucking bullshit happens

Consider Rivalry hotfix banned from my gym as soon as this match ends

i'll make some orders when I'm less pissed off

I don't know why Texas would ever complain about Rivalry because from where I'm sitting Slasher is able to use it to release a hugely powerful Earthquake throughout the lair and severely rock King Odin. That is until a snarky grin comes over the Nidoking's face and he simply Counters back the blow with 150% power. Then IAR pulls out the patented ordering second to abuse a substitue trick (oldest one in the book I say in my best Maxwell Smart voice) by setting his King to Endure anything incoming. Slasher responds with a little set up of his own by making a Substitute to stand in for him. That is until King Odin lets out a mighty Roar to send the sub and Slasher far far away. At least Nidoking is now a sitting duck thanks to an almost-as-powerful-as-the-eq Bulldoze to round out the round from Slasher. And I guess Tempest is hardly the worst mon to have been dragged out.

"Be careful out there... We need to proceed with utmost caution to get through this."

Blizzard > Recover > Blizzard
IF
Tempest is in the invulnerable stages of (Evasive Damaging Move) when you are to use Blizzard, THEN use Trick Room on the first instance, Chill on the second instance.
IF (Damaging Fighting Combo) is issued when you are to use Recover, THEN use Teleport (Evade) on the first instance, pushing actions back.

Focus Blast ~ Focus Punch ~ Superpower

If Focus Blast misses a1 use Light Screen a3

i do hate relying on 80% accuracy but we'll see...

Virus comes back into the fray and Tempest is primed and ready. Both Pokemon take a chance with less than perfectly accurate attacks and lucky for them both the Focus Blast and the Blizzard found their mark. Virus then takes a moment to Recover and is punished for it with a one-two combo from Tempest in the form of Focus Punch followed up swiftly with some Superpower to take Virus out before it can get in another blow! Things currently look pretty peachy for the Leader but Mulstiscale is gone, the fairy is coming and I think Kind Odin still has something to say.

Ah Double Team. It's one of if not the oldest trick in the ASB book. The odds shift massively into the users favour. But time and time again luck rears its ugly head and it all counts for nought. Of course this isn't one of those times. Slasher waits out the Endure round and gets himself a Substitute to go along with his clones as King Odin simply removes afterimages with icy blows. Looks like he's close to done now too but might still have a part to play in one more round.
