I've been messing around with damage calcs recently, and I decided to do some for our new physical Dragon. I used Smogon's damage calculator and PO's beta server usage stats to calculate Adamant CB Ono's Outrage against the most common set for the top 100 Pokémon, then nicely formatted it. It's a bit on the slow side, but it hits harder than Salamence driving a truck.

With Rivalry, it can OHKO 83% of the list, and 2HKOs 94% (everything other than really bulky Steels). Mold Breaker only lets it OHKO 79%, but is more reliable. This is with no set up whatsoever, just a good ol' Choice Band.

Oh, and I have no idea why the most popular Forretress set is Hardy. Can anyone shed light on this? I guess it's because Hardy is default, but it's hard to imagine that many people forgetting to change it...

I used this bad boy for a little bit on my gen 5 team with a basic physical sweeping set and it was okay. A bit too frail though, especially against shell smash cloyster. I then switched too Roobushin and WOW at the difference. Roob makes up for what Ono lacks... Mostly in bulk. With bulk up, substitute, etc., Roob is a much better alternative in most situations though Onon is good for speed, though that doesn't matter with priority moves like ice shard and bullet punch (both of which Roob handles MUCH better).

I think he's best as a choice bander because his attack stat stands out the most, and his speed isn't too great for DD or choice scarf sets.

Ono is better used as a hit and run choice bander or Stall Breaker, he isn't great at late-game sweeping.

ScarfKusu is much better than you think. It revenges all non-scarf Pokemon easily. Outrage from 450 speed and 432 Atk is nothing to be scoffed at; try it out seriously.

...till you get outsped by one of the most popular Scarfers Sazandora, who gets in after you sac somethign about to die and kills with Draco Meteor.

thank you Team preview, I never lock in Kus to Outrage if I see Sazandora/Flygon any faster scarfed dragon in their team. Still wish this thing had base 100 Speed.

I love using him on sandstorm team with scarf and EQ. he have move to hit brozong so skarm is his one and only true wall. MB is better for me since it allow me to beat some pokemon i might need to beat most notably weezing

In my experience, this thing's always worked best for me on a double dragon team, drawing out counters and weakening the team for Chomp to clean up, like in the Smog.
The set I usually run is:

Ononokuso @Haban Berry
252ATK/252SPD
-Dragon Dance
-Outrage
-Earthquake
-Taunt

Taunt + EQ deals with the steels that come in, fairly quickly killing off that Nattorei that always gets brought in.

Ononokusu is faster and lacks a Stealth Rock weakness. That's reason enough to use him over Kyurem.
uhm. Kyurem at 75% HP is MUCH bulkier than ono at 87.5%.. so if you are using it as a lure, aka 1 time use, no ono does not win just cause of SR neutrality. also, what significant threat does 97 speed outrun that 95 doesnt? I can't remember any huge threats residing in the dreaded 96 speed tier.

Kyuremu seems rather underwhelming to me being SR weak, Bullet Punch Weak and Mach Punch Weak.
Being weak to the most common priority attacks and the most common hazard while being forced out by Ono, Chomp, Flygon and Sazandora?
There must be a better option.

I'm not sure about Steels avoiding Ono for fear of EQ.
What other type is prepared to take STAB Dragon attacks from 400+ Atk?

I'm not sure about Steels avoiding Ono for fear of EQ.
What other type is prepared to take STAB Dragon attacks from 400+ Atk?
Despite weaknesses to all that, Kyurem would have been broken if it had say Snowstorm over Pressure or something because then it would have pounded with Blizzards to no end (and trust me, you wouldn't want to eat those unless your name is Blissey and even then...Choice Specs 2 hit koes f-ing Metagross and Scizor. METAGROSS AND SCIZOR).

But since it doesn't....Kyurem still does have the advantage of being bulkier (Flygon? Who uses Choice Scarf Flygon over Garchomp? The only thing Choice Scarf Flygon has over Chomp is U-Turn...which is, not particually much...and Ono dragon would still need to carry Scarf) that is able to SURVIVE Breloom Mach Punch and kill it with Icebeam...Kyurem is like the ultimate steel/priority lure. Despite it's problems with Stealth Rock, there is less of it than in Gen 4 and it is easier to spin away with fewer Ghosts. Most Garchomp happen to be Swords Dance nowadays (shocked me too but Swords Dance is sexy) so that is less dangerous although if it did run into Scarf, it would die. Most Ono dragons DON'T run Choice Scarf (as far as I know) even though it is viable when it can smack harder with Band/Swords/Dragon Dance. And being the ultimate lure, it can trap those priority/steels and allow a set up to kill and have your teams other Dragon free since it is very good in double dragon. Sazandora is just as weak, if not more because of lesser defenses to fighting priority.

Unfortunately, neither Ono, Kyurem, or Sazandora (from my experience) are used much if at all due to the existence of Latias/Latios.

Sorry if this is a bit of a bump, but is anyone actually finding success with Onono that couldn't be acheived with the use of another dragon?
Because even though i really like him, i'm finding it hard to give him a teamslot over another dragon.
I'd just like to know how people are using him and what his niche is.

From what I gather, abusing taunt+DD (or SD) seems to be the way to go with ono. While I have never used it personally, I have used taunt+DD t-tar enough last gen to state with reasonable certainty that it makes a fantastic bulky wall breaker. No other dragon can do that.

You mean Jirachi, Metagross, Magnezone, Metagross and Heatran?
These 4 get screwed badly by Ononokus' Earthquake unless they're carrying Balloon. And let's not forget about Skarmory, who outright walls Ononokus (it resists Outrage and is immune to Earthquake) and Bronzong (whose Levitate is negated by Mold Breaker).

Edit: forgot about Scizor and Genesect, who take a good amount from EQ, as well as Nattorei, who can take Ononokus' hits.

I thought of two possible sets
sub+dance
Substitute
Dragon dance/sword dance
Reversal
Outrage/dragon claw/double chop
simple. Sub to 1 health , attempt to dance along the way and attack with perfect coverage. Slot in a berry of choice of an extra attack or speed boost and then sweep!!! Reversal gets 200bp and outrage/ dclaw/ dchop gets 180/135/120bp
another set would be

item:choice scarf/band
Substitute
Reversal
outrage
Filler move

Sub upon entry reach 1 hp then bail. Return later and bring a world of pain on the enemy

No to the choice-reversal set. Just....no. Nothing like asking ScarfChandelure to come in and killing you. Haxorus has better options.
