Wandering Wobbuffet

formerly Based Honker

Dugtrio @ Life Orb
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 200 Atk / 58 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Stealth Rock

A lure which I myself have used once or twice before. Obviously it doesn't work with scarf ant but since this one is AoA this works. With 58 SpA EVs and a life orb you will outspeed and OHKO Durant and cause of arena trap they can't escape without baton pass.

Alright the votes are in, the winner is NaCl

Other winners are Chakra and Mr. Highways

For this week, we have Venusaur!

Venusaur @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Synthesis

Deadline is 20th April.

Please complete your reserves in 48 hours or it's up for retaking.

Alomomola @ Rindo Berry
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 120 HP / 136 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Mirror Coat
- Scald
- Wish
- Protect

Venusaur assumes that it can switch in on Alomomola and threaten it as it is a passive mon and toxic does not affect Venusaur, scald is resisted and does a very minuscule amount, therefore leaving knock off the most it can do to it. Venusaur will fire off a leaf storm at alomomola with no risk, with a rindo berry it takes only 40 percent and can always OHKO back with mirror coat. This set can also damage other grass attackers and mons that volt switch into safe switch ins.

252 SpA Venusaur Leaf Storm vs. 120 HP / 252+ SpD Rindo Berry Alomomola: 202-238 (40.3 - 47.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Take Azelfie

More flags more fun

Emerald Blade (Virizion) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade
- Zen Headbutt

This set used to be a lot more common but it has really died out recently. And because of that, Virizion can now effectively lure in Venusaur who might be coming in on either of its STABs. Zen Headbutt is able to score an OHKO after it has used Swords Dance which usually isn't too hard to pull. Of course for this to work you have to have already used Swords Dance or Swords Dance on the turn Venusaur switches in but is still a really neat lure.

Venusaur is a mon that is really hard to lure in practice since the mons that invite venusaur in generally dont have the tools to lure it, but here is one that can:

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 HP / 124 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Substitute
- Psychic

Speed is to sub on mola, max guarantee the subs 100% on mola´s scald. Anyways, here is how this lure will play out: Venusaur is the first switch-in to diancie on offensive teams that dont have a mega steelix (which are a lot, dont let anyone lie to you about it) so this can make a substitute up on the incoming venusaur switch-in. Then it break your sub as you calm mind up.

-2 252 SpA Life Orb Venusaur Leaf Storm vs. +1 252 HP / 0 SpD Diancie: 109-133 (35.8 - 43.7%) -- 93.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

And you do this:

+1 128+ SpA Diancie Psychic vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 240-284 (79.7 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Add rocks and life orb recoil and this venusaur is 99.9% dead. Congratulations, you killed a venusaur with a diancie!

Recommedations for this set
: Pair it with a magnet rise magnet pull hp fire magneton and have fun.

Chakra that's cool but you're losing out on Leftovers, which is pretty important on a Pokemon that has Protect and wants to switch out after Wishing, and you're also missing out on Knock Off / Toxic. I think it's generally better to just use Knock Off on the Venusaur switchin to make it do significantly less damage. Then again I'd probably get lured p hard by this set soooo it could work out well

Take an Azelfie, Venusaur wouldn't be my first switchin to Virizion as Zen Headbutt is pretty standard these days.

MrAldo that's a pretty cool lure tbh, but I worry it'd be too useless vs any team that has a Mega Steelix unless you have a ton of Pokemon that can wear down Mega Steelix or Magnet Rise HP Fire Magneton.

Venusaur in general is a really hard Pokemon to lure, and I'm not sure how worth luring it is considering it doesn't actually stop many offensive Pokemon; it's more of a threat to defensive Pokemon like bulky Waters and Diancie. Still, if you want to lure it, I guess this would work (stolen from lord death man tbh)

Rotom-Mow @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Flying]
- Will-O-Wisp / Thunderbolt

Venusaur may come in thinking it's a safe switchin to choiced Rotom-Mow, but then it gets mowed down by a LO Hidden Power Flying and 2HKO'd with very little prior damage / good rolls. Hidden Power Flying also hits other Grass-types, specifically Virizion.

252 SpA Life Orb Rotom-C Hidden Power Flying vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 146-174 (48.5 - 57.8%) -- 94.5% chance to 2HKO

Celesteela is Life

Lilligant @ Life Orb
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Petal Dance
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power Flying

Lilligant is a pretty underrated cleaner with Petal Dance and Own Tempo, but Venusaur is one of the many mons that can put a stop in it's tracks. Hidden Power Flying helps allievate this problem a bit, smacking Venusaur for a 2HKO unboosted and a chance to OHKO after residual damage, usually hazards, or damage that Venusaur has taken checking other threats in the match. HP Flying also hits Virizion and Emboar, which is pretty nice as well.

252 SpA Life Orb Lilligant Hidden Power Flying vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 151-179 (50.1 - 59.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Life Orb Lilligant Hidden Power Flying vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 226-268 (75 - 89%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
+1 252 SpA Life Orb Lilligant Hidden Power Flying vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Venusaur: 226-268 (75 - 89%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
