Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

4th post of this topic. But if this is your first 4th gen RNG abuse I'd just faint the Ho-Oh and encounter it after you beat the Elite Four.

One thing i just noticed when id/sid abusing my Pt retail cart is that i had to press A at the "TV screen" 1 second earlier to hit my seed.
I tried changing my calibrated delay to one second less, but it didn't work O.o
Used EonTimer btw

The seed i was aiming to get: 920E1B66
Shiny PID: 46F43BCA
Month/day/year/hour/minute: 3/24/2011 14:59:15
Target Delay: 7003
My EonTimer calibrated/wanted values: CDelay: 488 CSeconds: 14 WDelay: 7003 WSeconds: 15

Always got 16 seconds when i checked my id w/ pandoras, changed CSeconds to -1, but nothing, same 16 seconds popped up in pandoras, so i tested pressing A one sec before the last timer ran out, and voila, took me 3 tries to hit my seed (First 7005, then 7004, and at last, 7003)
Dunno if it's worth asking here, but it made me wonder...

Increase your target second by 1. I find that the best way to deal with getting your delay but always off by a second.

To clarify, if your Date/Time has 40 seconds and you keep hitting 39 you increase your target seconds in EonTimer to 41 and use that same Date/Time. You don't search for one with 41 seconds.

I've usually found that this is due to forgetting to set the clock the proper number of minutes back. 1 minute forward = 1 second back.

Please let me know asap if this isn't the right place to post this.

Anyway, I'm taking a break from Gen V RNG, and decided to RNG some Stationaries in my Soul Silver (Namely Lugia, Suicune, and Wondercard Latias). However I'm screwing up badly and idk what am I doing wrong:

1)Open RNG Reporter / Time Finder

2)Time Finder > Enter my ID / SID in case a shiny frame appears. Select Method K, min/max frame of 1/40, and delay of 500/2500.

3)Find a seed, copypaste it to the main window.

4)Gen IV Tools > Seed to Times. I paste my seed, input the year, check the seconds box (50 seconds), delays +-100, and seconds +-2. Since I haven't triggered the roaming Latios and already killed Raikou and Entei, roamer checkboxes are not even touched.

5)Generate seeds! I turn on my DS and input the exact same time as the seed I selected.

6)I jet into my Eon Timer and input my stuff: Calibrated frame 500, Calibrated sec 14 (not sure what is this but everyone keeps telling me to use 13-14), Target Delay 1552 (courtesy of my Time to Seed window), and Target Seconds: 50.

7)Load my game and start the Eon Timer at the same time. I do not press any buttons in my DS until the timer runs out. When it does, I soft reset. Then I load my game as soon as my second timer runs out.

8)Make some Elm Calls! I already showed him the hatched togepi, obtained the nat'l dex, and pokerus. However, when I input my Elm Calls in the Elm Search button, I get 0 matches. ;_;

First, I'd suggest using the roamers instead of calling Elm. It's just a ton faster, which is really nice when you have to retry numerous times to hit your seed. Plus, the roamers don't use up very many frame advances, but you probably won't need to call Elm 10 times to find your seed, anyway.

In step 7, what do you mean by "load the game" and start the timer at the same time? You should be setting the time on the DS and starting the timer at the same time. If you're doing that already, you should be fine. I usually just start the game from the start menu when the first timer ends, but SRing should work, too.

Also, try expanding your search parameters (maybe an extra second or two, and another 100 on the delay) to see if that helps.

Make sure the "odd/even" box isn't checked, too. I believe HG/SS can only hit odd delays if not using a GBA game or scrolling down in the menu to change the delay, so since your delay is even, your results wouldn't be showing up if the box is checked.

Yeah, I agree with this. You might be hitting odd delays. If you are, what you'd have to do is either insert a Pokemon GBA game into your DS or change the year of your seed. Changing the year by 1 +/- will make your target delay odd, and putting a GBA game into your DS will let you hit even delays.

I guess it's time to undust my old Leaf Green. <3

Release the kraken Latios.
I mean, I load my game from the DSLite's menu at the same time I start my Eon timer and proceed to watch lugia flying endlessly until my timer runs out. When it runs out, I soft reset and rush to the Continue screen. I hit A and load my file as soon as my second timer dies.

Eh, you can do the roamer method with just one, but it's more accurate if you have two or three. You can respawn Raikou and Entei by defeating the E4 again, by the way.

So when are you setting the time on the DS, then? Sounds like that could be the problem.

Just to throw this in here, I would never expand the search past +/-1 second. Even that should not be possible unless you have really bad reflexes.

The problem is that you end up with a ton of false positives that way. People think that they are hitting several seconds off when they are actually hitting very near their target.

I recommend against soft-resetting. You'll get a more consistent timing if you start from the DS menu instead.

You should probably tell us your seed; it'll help us figure out what you're doing wrong.

^ Even I am not that bad. D:

1- Time to Seed box gives me a crapload of seeds and times. I choose one of those.
2- Turn on my DS and change its time to match that of the TtS. Turn off to save the date/time.
3- Turn on DS again, load my game (not my file!) AND start the Eon Timer at the same time

That's true, but I was just using it as a suggestion in case nothing else worked to find the seed. It sounds like she's off by quite a bit in her times, anyway.

You should be starting Eon Timer when you set the time and date. When the first timer goes off, start your game from the DS manu. When the second timer goes off, start the game from the game's start menu.

Oh, maybe that's what I've been doing wrong. The video tutorial I saw said the game file/save should be loaded after the second timer ran out. Additionally, the game must be reset when the first timer ran out. Weird.

Booya, shiny Latias caught.

Quick question for 4th generation game calibration for RNGing: how many times do I need to calibrate? My highest delay I've gotten is 491, my lowest a 487. I've done this 3 times. (my seconds is 14) Do I need to keep doing it?

Calibration isn't necessary imo, i started abusing without any calibration at all, so far i've abused a Zapdos and a Suicune, but i've also id/sid abused my Pt and Diamond carts successfully.
My delay/sec for SS are 488, and 14 secs, and for Pt; about the same, and for Diamond my delay/sec is 604 and 14.

Echoing NeoFred a little here. Calibration in that manner is completely unnecessary. Use the default timer settings, aim for a seed, find out what you hit and update the timer with that delay. You will be calibrated almost immediately.
