One day, Bianca came upon a Poke-theater troupe, performing Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. The role of Captain Hammer was being played by an Azurill. Bianca sat and watched the production, and when it was done, approached the cast to convey her sincerest congratulations on a great show. The main characters were all so thrilled that a human liked their show that they agreed to go with Bianca as their trainer.

  • Water STAB; Ignores arena restrictions on Water attacks that require an external water source. Evasive Diving reduced from 6 per action Energy Cost to 5 per action.
  • Fairy STAB; The consecutive move usage penalty for using damaging Fairy-type moves is reduced to two (2) from four (4).
Abilities: Thick Fat / Huge Power / Sap Sipper (Locked)
  • This Pokemon has a great deal of extra fat or muscle that increases its resistance to extreme heat or extreme cold, reducing the type effectiveness of Fire- and Ice-typed attacks to the next level of resistance (2x weak becomes neutral, neutral becomes resistance, etc.)
  • This Pokemon has immense inner strength that grows with its development, raising its Attack and its Base Rank Total by one Rank for each evolution level (first of three stages = 1, first of two stages or second of three stages = 2, fully evolved = 3). If Skill Swapped, the swapped Pokemon's Attack and Base Rank Total is only raised by one Rank.

  • Psychic STAB; can lift and throw opponents with Psychic regardless of Special Attack Rank. Psychic-type attacks are not godlike and cannot be used as a catchall for Disabling, Binding, and redirecting opposing attacks.
  • Fairy STAB; The consecutive move usage penalty for using damaging Fairy-type moves is reduced to two (2) from four (4).
Abilities: Synchronize / Trace / Telepathy (Locked)
  • Pokemon with this ability mentally link their condition to an opposing Pokemon and when inflicted by the major status ailments Burn, Poison, or Paralysis, will share their status condition with the opponent. Pokemon will not be inflicted by status conditions to which they are immune by virtue of typing, ability, etc.
  • When entering into battle, this Pokemon can copy an ability on one of its opponents for 6 EN. This effect only triggers if the ability to be copied is specified when the Pokemon is sent out. When facing a pokemon with Trace, the Player sending out last must send out the pokemon without orders, in order to give the opponent the opportunity to trigger trace and any orders eventually given will be ignored until given the opportunity for trace to be triggered. The ability remains on the Pokemon for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.
    • Command: Activate Trace (target ability) - 5 En - Replace Trace with the target Ability for six (6) actions. When the copied ability fades, the user regains Trace.

Now that we've got our equipment set up (and filled up the ASB Arena with enough water), we're ready to start this battle! At a glance, Toon's team has the speed and stat advantage, as well as a fearsome opponent for Mowtom's Fairy-types in Caimanoe. However, the Pokemon on Toon's side seem to be heavily leaning towards offense in their strategy; brute force, doesn't always win, folks! Let's get this show on the road!

Right out of the gate we see Row Row speeding through the water, preparing for an attack! But, seeing that Captain Hammer hasn't been distracted yet, switched gears with a Taunt attack, drawing the Marill's attention and preventing it from using non-damaging moves. Lock'n Load follows up from behind with a Flash Cannon after finding a good sniping spot from underneath the water. The blast hits Kirlia for massive super-effective damage! Dr. Horrible manages to catch both of Toon's Pokemon in a bright, flashy Dazzling Gleam, while Captain Hammer comes in from the back with a Play Rough, seeming to ignore its Taunt entirely! Those attacks only lightly scratched Caimanoe, though, due to its Fairy-type resistance.

Speaking of Steel to Fairy interaction, Row Row keeps up its offensive pressure with a speedy Metal Claw, which tears into Dr. Horrible for more great damage. After responding to its trainer's orders, Lock'n Load is ordered to Disable Kirlia's Dazzling Gleam rather than attack, attempting to shut down Dr. Horrible's offensive options. But, it seems like Toon played straight into Mowtom's hands, as Dr. Horrible expected this and gave the Seadra a resounding Encore! Spectators in the audience may clap if they wish. Captain Hammer is living up to his name, by hammering Caimanoe with another Play Rough. Still, the attack isn't doing wonders.

Row Row switches up his offense yet again, surging through the arena pool and leaping out with a Waterfall amount of strength. The attack hits Dr. Horrible solidly, though not as much so as his previous Steel-type attacks. Lock'n Load is forced to Disable yet again, but since Dazzling Gleam is already Disabled, the attack fails! An excellent disruptive play on the part of Mowtom. On Mowtom's side, the battle is heating up, as Dr. Horrible goes on the offensive with a Magical Leaf, hitting Row Row--without fail, might I add--for decent damage. It's probably one of Mowtom's better options, so you can't really blame him. Captain Hammer, on the other hand, attempts one more Play Rough, but repetitive actions must have tired him out, as his attack misses Row Row by a long shot.

Despite the type advantage going into this battle, damage trades in the first round are relatively even. With Seadra out of commission for one more action, let's see how Toon can adapt to get momentum back in his favor. On the flip side, how can Mowtom press this opportunity?

To recap, the first round was fairly even, but Dr. Horrible has Lock'n Load encored for one action! How will this affect the battle?

Row Row goes for all-out offense immediately, sinking his claws into Dr. Horrible with a deadly Metal Claw combination attack! With some tricky footwork and swift underwater movement, the Caimanoe catches Kirlia at a weak spot, doing tons of damage! The ferocity of the attack invigorates him afterwards, boosting his Attack sharply! Lock'n Load, unfortunately, is stuck using Disable, but since the move is already disabled, it does nothing. Dr. Horrible syncs his psychic waves with Seadra's physiology with a Psyshock, which does good enough damage, but maybe aiming for the Seadra's weaker Special Defense was a better play. Captain Hammer lives up to his name and hammers Lock'n Load hard with a Body Slam attack, which hit a vital nerve to paralyze the Seadra!

Row Row needs to calm down a bit after that combination attack, which leaves a perfect opening for Dr. Horrible to fire a series of Magical Leaves straight at Lock'n Load! It was already impossible to dodge, but I can imagine being paralyzed makes that even worse. Marill has the speed advantage now, so his Play Rough attack gets to connect before Lock'n Load can make a move! Shaking off paralysis and his previous Encore, Lock'n Load gathers an immense amount of light and reflects it onto Dr. Horrible in a huge Flash Cannon combination attack! That blast is massive! And it looks like, through the smoke...Dr. Horrible is unable to battle! That attack was just too much for him.

Using his newly boosted Attack stat and high speed, Row Row chomps into Captain Hammer with a Thunder Fang attack, which zaps the Marill with enough energy to paralyze! Looks like the paralysis is on the other foot, now! The Marill shakes off the paralysis this time, though, and Plays Rough with Seadra once again! Lock'n Load is cooling down at this point, so the attack connects without a hitch!

With Dr. Horrible down, Mowtom is in a bad spot. But, Lock'n Load is looking quite tired. Does Captain Hammer have what it takes to turn this around?​

This battle looks more and more one-sided by the minute! Can Captain Hammer come back from this deficit?

Row Row's stats are still boosted, so his Metal Claw does good damage, even without super-effective typing! Lock'n Load follows up with a Water Gun, which drenches Marill in...water? I'm still not entirely sure how that works...Either way, Marill tries to fight back, but he's fully paralyzed. Things are just not going the Captain's way today.

Now that Captain Hammer is drenched with (more) water, he's even weaker to Electric-type moves than before! Row Row takes advantage of this with another Thunder Fang, which chomps into Marill for tons of damage! Seadra compliments that damage with a Flash Cannon that blasts Captain Hammer. These gang-up attacks aren't helping the Marill's condition, but he's still able to Play Rough, hitting Seadra but not quite knocking it out!

Row Row goes for one last Metal Claw, but before Lock'n Load can finish the job, Marill comes back from paralysis with another Play Rough and finishes off the Seadra quite handily!

Well, apart from you messing up on move priority R2 (Caimanoe was supposed to move last A1 because combo at -2 priority), you did pretty well on a Doubles.
Applause for: Flavor. Keep it up!
Personal tips: Spending a little more time on calcs formatting goes a long way towards helping spectators to understand them faster.

If Birks agrees to this, I'll pull a full report and give it back to him. For now, use the tournament match and tag me in :)
