I also want Swords Dance on Greninja (with Waterfall + Crunch/Night Slash + This New Shuriken Priority or some coverage Fighting Move). Nothings better then baiting special wall to see that you Swords Dance against it on switch ;). Oh those mind games :D.

Apparently it's something to do with the general core story of the games, the Gym Leader being the mayor/leader of the town, a respected person and also someone who connects well with their chosen type. Dark type is known as "Evil" in Japan, so they wouldn't want an Evil type specialist running a town.

They can always do a Giovanni, where the mayor/head guy was clearly evil and then skips town afterwards. The dark type gym, I think, is one of the real instances were GF has been willingly trolling for 6 generations.

So MegaGengar gets Shadow Tag as it's ability. Does GameFreak have some kind of hard on for Gengar right now. The 6th gen type changes have already done wonders for Gengar but now it has a Mega Forme with one of the most broken abilities in the game. Serioiusly Gamefreak, WTF!
Metapod and Kakuna had this in Gen I.
