blah
neither can I, all you do is go there, eat whatever food is there and let your girl dance with a bunch of morons. Remember, if you picked a reasonable one, she'll still be leaving with you.Damn I really wanna go to my schools proms, but I can not dance to save my life :(
Nothing wrong with it. If she's good looking and you think you guys will have a fun time, go for it.Can't get into a really top college w/o a social life however ;)
What do you guys think about asking people in lower grades? There is a realllly pretty sophmore girl in my orchestra, and I'm thinking about asking her out.
Ability to dance doesn't really matter at all except for slow dances (read: not shit done at high school proms), the fact that you have the balls to do SOMETHING will get you major cool points, no matter how retarded you look.Damn I really wanna go to my schools proms, but I can not dance to save my life :(
I don't plan on getting into a top college. Can't get into a really top college w/o a social life however ;)
A prom is a school dance that is held for the senior (grade 12) class by the junior class (grade 11). Typically only these two classes are alowed to go, unless an upperclassman escorts or is escorted by an underclassman.Yeah can someone from probably the states explain what pr0m is?
It has something to do with dating?
That's not necessarily true and it varies from school to school. My school allows all grades to go and technically holds prom for the junior class, some schools hold it for the senior class, etc.A prom is a school dance that is held for the senior (grade 12) class by the junior class (grade 11). What's this about Jimbo going to prom with an "escort?" ;)I'm going to my Junior prom which is in 2 weeks.
I'm escorting my friend, but I will be an awesome date ^__^
Heh, do you live around where I do too? I don't know if it's the entertainment we see, but prom seems to be such a big deal in the States compared to Canada. For us, it's just one large last social event to dance and talk with our friends/teachers in our last year of high school. I just went with a bunch of friends. Asked the dj to play Numa Numa but they didn't ;_; We got YMCA though XDI'm sure the social alienation of not going to prom with a date is far worse in the US (I'm just assuming this, to be honest), but I've noticed in Canadian high schools it's not necessarily that big of a deal (though there is a social ineptitude and lack of prom date positive correlation). Many people go with their friends as dates (at least, the girls consider their dates to be only friends :P), or go with a date for the sake of having a date. I had no girlfriend or particular crushes, nor was I interested in bringing a date along, thus being obliged, to a certain extent, to be with her more so than other girls/people.
So I said fuck it: I put on a superman costume (I later took it off and rocked my regular suit which was underneath, though it would have been cooler if I ripped my suit apart in the middle of the dance floor to reveal my costume) and hit on anything that could move. I took advantage of the lack of obligation between dates and basically flirted with and danced with any girl that would accept me, often angering some of my buddies. I didn't mind; most of my "buddies" were douchebags, since I played on the baseball team and high school athletes are, by nature, mostly compromised of douchers. Man, I'm so glad I'm out of high school.
I was surprised to have any success with the girls at prom, to be honest. It had to have been the cape. Or maybe it was because I was stoned out of my mind. I was, despite what I may be suggesting, afraid of the reception in regards to the outfit that I wore for the first hour or so. I mean, if people find it funny, it's great. If not, then I just feel really awkward and get no love form the ladies, since I would be the loser who tried too hard. If I had to take a similar risk now, I wouldn't do it.
Well, there's my unlikely prom story. Morm's seems a bit more impressive, though.
