When Starborn the Cleffa makes her appearance something extraordinary is immediately noticable: the blistering sands bend around her, missing her entirely! It's as if she's being protected by some unseen forcefield. Likewise, the Stealth Rocks laid all over the field mysteriously tumble out of the way whenever the Pokemon moves towards them. It looks like Steeljaw's going to have to attack her directly if he wants to do any damage. Starborn opens the round with a paralyzing Thunder Wave, but Steeljaw quickly avoids it by burrowing underground then attacking once Starborn's electricity sizzles out. In the process, Steeljaw finds love. He takes a break to restore energy while Starborn fires a Flamethrower at him. Then, instead of attacking again, Steeljaw decides to spend a turn gazing longingly into Starborn's eyes. His feelings are unreciporicated -- he receives a devastating Fire Blast to the face. Ultimately, he survives this round, but only by a slight margin.

Titan takes an entirely defensive approach to this round. First, he hides himself behind a protective wall of ice -- of course, Starborn is so exhausted from using its last combination that it can't move and thus the evasive maneuver is wasted. By the time Starborn is finally ready to attack Titan's barrier is too weak to stop her Fire Blast attack. Titan has another trick in store, though: by absorbing and redirecting the flames, he duplicates Starborn's attack with even more strength than before! Unwilling to be outdone, Starborn shoots even more flames at her opponent only to receive the same result. If Starborn doesn't try something different soon she'll surely be damaged at a much faster rate than Titan will.
