[Ref: 202 Tutor Battle] Tutor Birkal vs Gale Wing Srock

Burd: A Tutor battle? What does that mean?

McKrow: It means that a Pro teaches a Rookie, on how to be a decent contributor to the community.

Burd: I don't get it.

McKrow: No wonder! You should probably sign-up too.

Burd: You reckon?

McKrow: Yeah why not? Just make sure that you don't annoy the tutors too much.

Burd: Am I annoying?

McKrow: No. Who said so? I didn't say anything :x

Burd: Guess I am, huh? :(

McKrow: Don't worry Burd. Everyone was annoying in their lives at some point in time. Remember when you were a baby and you use to annoy your mother for every small thing?

Burd: Oh man! Now I feel even worse.

Normal STAB; +1 BAP on attacks that match dominant arena type after 3 actions. Unable to have Thrash or Outrage disrupted by oncoming damage.

Abilities:
Trace:
When entering into battle, this Pokemon can copy an ability on one of its opponents for 6 EN. This effect only triggers if the ability to be copied is specified when the Pokemon is sent out. The ability remains on the Pokemon for six (6) actions. Wonder Guard cannot be Traced.

Command: Activate Trace (target ability) - 5 En - Replace Trace with the target Ability for six (6) actions. When the copied ability fades, the user regains Trace.

Download:
At the beginning of the match, the Pokemon analyzes the opponent and downloads data that lets it deal more damage. This Pokemon receives a one (1) stage boost on the offense that strikes an opponent's weaker defense stat. (e.g. does more damage with special attacks when facing Aggron, which has higher Defense, and attack when facing Hypno, which has higher Special Defense. For ties, Special Attack is raised.) This boost is maintained at the end of each round.
Analytic:
If this Pokemon attacks after its target during an action, its attacks have two (2) more Base Attack Power.

Round 1: Don't look up! Its a Sky Drop!
Sky Drop makes the tutee's life difficult.
The Tutor Avnomke decided to test the tutee with a great opening. One that has left people astounded for many a days. Aerodactyl Mega Evolves right of the bat, even before Tomohawk's Intimidate could trigger, and much later Porygon2 finally Download's its opponents data to get a Special Attack boost.

The battle then starts with a sub abuse, as the tutee had failed to mention a key word in his Sky Drop substitutions and this results in a pure destruction of his orders this round. The tutor didn't mind giving Tomohawk his weakness policy boost as he knows that Tomohawk wouldn't live long to make full use of it anyway.

The Tutee did try his best to protect the Flying Fighter, Ms. McCool. But it would seem quite difficult after that disastrous first round.

Phione unable to get rid of Porygon2's Item, doesn't manage to burn the Aerodactyl either. Which adds salt to Gale Wing Srock's wounds. And being taunted would mean that Phione is not going to do much next round, other than spam water attacks.

Another Advantage to those who go last in a doubles battle. It is not as balanced as we think it is, or is it? Stay tuned to find out, on how the Tutor would teach his next lesson.

Until then, "Stay Hungry and Stay foolish!" - Steve Jobs.

Round 2: Scalding Brine in Rain!
Bubble Drop sends a massive amount of water at Grace O' Malley and the poor Prehistoric bird was unable to fly out of it.
The Tutor Avnomke wanted to test the knowledge of the Tutee in understanding substitutions. But since the tutee is also battling and didn't understand a substitution completely, the tutee decided not to trigger the substitution fearing an outcome that may not be as pleasant as he would hope to have otherwise.

This brings us a new situation in the tutor battle, should the tutor keep a clause that the tutee has to trigger a particular substitution? Or trigger atleast one substitution? May be we could do that, to make sure that the tutee understands how a substitution would have played.

So this round begins with the Tutee protecting his Fighting Bird yet again. Maybe, losing McCool may not be something that he desires? So he ends up forgoing an attacking / setup opportunity to save his pokemon. The Tutee then uses a substitution to his advantage and takes down the mighty prehistoric bird. Which is quite an accomplishment indeed.

But not to forget the fact that two of his pokemon are severely beaten and would probably go down on the following round.

Who would Avnomke send down to the field now? Howell Davis seems the ideal candidate, but we shall see how things unfold.

They somehow know what you truly want to become."

Round 3: Double KO!
You knock one of mine? I knock two of yours!
The Tutor Avnomke destroyed the tutee's new pokemon as he had failed to order a Mega Evolution for him, regardless Ronnie would have taken a beating this round.

This makes the tutee send in two more pokemon, and as he sends his water type back onto the field along with a spooky pixie pokemon, he can only sit in wonder of what errors he might have made while reffing. Or actually does he need a tutoring for battling too? We can only guess at what works and what doesn't.

So this round began with the Tutee trying to attack, but it got back fired as the Tutor's pokemon ganged up on Ronnie, only to leave her devastated by a loss of a partner and her own inability to survive. Such sadness is unexplainable in words and guess it comes along with a ton of pain.

Avnomke now has two KO's and needs three more to finish this battle. Gale Wing Srock has already sent out his replacement, lets see how this next round turns up to be.

Round 4: Rain is falling, Chama Cham Cham!
Rain saves the day for Phione!
The Tutor Avnomke went for the drop on the droplet pokemon, but Rain spoils the day for him today as the legend escaped from his grasps and exhausted Death.exe.

Tutee then ganged up on Aroma the Aromatisse and managed to KO the fairy before she could land a blow on action 3. This means that the tutee is now ahead, but only by a small margin.

So this round began with the Tutee trying to save Bubble Drop by asking it to Dive under water. Death.exe chills from that massive last action combo from last round, and seeing that her target is under water, Aromatisse targets Sableye with Moonblast, who retaliates back with a powerful Metal Burst that almost did one third of Aromatisse's current Health.

Death.exe seeing that Bubble Drop had been hiding away from Aroma, decides to destroy the pokemon with a powerful Solar Beam, but unfortunately the Rain weakened the Solar Beam and the fact that Ayaan had flinched Aroma, made Bubble Drop survive the planned assault and which made Death.exe mad and exhausted.

Ayaan and Bubble Drop then combined their attacks to KO Aroma before she could use another powerful Moonblast on Ayaan.

Round 5: Senpai, is Senpai, No doubt about it!
Tutor Birkal destroys Phione's endure strategy, and sent her back to her pokeball with a Hailing send-off.
Tutor Birkal was too kind to pick this battle from the middle and decided to test the reffing skills of the Tutee more than his battling skills. *Gulp*

Tutee had planned to save up his Bubble Drop and Ayaan for the next round, but Tutor Birkal showed some amazing moves and dispatched of Bubble Drop. He could, as easily, have dispatched Sableye too; but he chose to test the knowledge and understanding of the Tutee instead.

The round ended with Howell Davis severely exhausted, along with Ayaan, who was barely able to stand. Samantha was happy playing the second fiddle and away from the lime light, but will she be able to stand toe to toe with an Eternal Flower?

Round 6: The End to a new beginning!
Tutor Birkal sends one last curve ball at the Tutee, who manages to survive the confusion, but barely.
Tutor Birkal brought out a final trick to test the understanding of the Tutee on the priority of substituted moves.

Tutee found a way to get through without venturing into the trap. But then decided that WOLO and jumped straight into it.

The round ended with Howell Davis knocked out by Silene's Dazzling Gleam, and with Ayaan wrapping it up with a Brick Break that Samantha was unable to counter back as Ayaan was immune to that fighting technique.

And with that, its a wrap folks! We hope you enjoyed our tutoring session and have enrolled yourself for one too. We need more bright minds to solve the mysteries in ASB everyday. See you out there.

Critical Hit Check (625): 5547 (No)

Recoil: 2
EN Used: 5

The subs that state when you would attack lock the moves priority based on the main order that action (So as to check different events based on the priority and / or speed of the pokemon).

When a "When you would attack" substitution triggers, the substituted move cannot have a priority greater than the priority at which the substitution's event is triggered, aka the priority of the main order that action.

However, this is not the case for other substitutions with regular Attack Clauses. As these substitutions would be triggered before the action's speed and priority are set.

That is the reason Dragonite's second substitution is ignored on action 1, whereas Chansey's first substitution works as intended.
