Reffing 202: smashlloyd20 vs Its_A_Random

Hello everyone, and welcome to a 5v5 Doubles match sponsored by the reffing 202 program! We've got me, smashlloyd20, probably the worst doubles player in the history of ASB, against IAR, one of the better doubles players in the history of ASB. I look forward to being 5-0'd by Hitmontop.

Rules
Apprentice faces Tutor on a 5vs5 FE doubles match (well...at least the tutor will use Fully Evolved mons, preferably strong ones. If the apprentice doesn't have 5 FE mons, he will need to use the best one at his disposal) on ASB Arena with 3 subs, items=yes and standard rules all around. This match does NOT affect W/L records if you still do this, as the tutor is supposed to throw shenanigans, not win. Apprentice will need to order AND ref the match. Tutor sends out Pokémon to apprentice, who will then set up the match with his own team as well as order first (send out last). Apprentice and Tutor post orders, apprentice refs and posts on the thread, Tutor lists the errors and suggestions on a hide tag and continue the battle, with the apprentice reffing every round. The tutor will evaluate the apprentice on format, how the information is presented, damage calculations, the errors committed and...well....everything ref-related. If after the battle the tutor and the manager find the reffing acceptable, the apprentice gives whitelisted for self-reffing and may become a tutor too.

The Tutor will be advised to use all the tricks at his disposals, up to and including complex substitutions, strange combos, weird attack interactions and even flavor-based maneuvers. Their goal isn't to win, but to see the extent of the apprentice's capacities at reffing.

Apprentices that don't follow DQ either in battling or in reffing (Leave of Absence rules apply) will be reproved, simple as that. They will get a sole warning total. Also, apprentices that send out horrible Pokémon so the battle is faster or just play suicidal spamming explosion and what-not and that forfeit at the middle of it will also be reproved. The apprentice will need to show that he can complete that kind of match to the end on normal circumstances.

In addition to your 5vs5 doubles match, the person must also ref one gym match from begining to end. Reasons are simple: 1) We have seen cases of people focusing on the 5vs5 and foregoing everything else. While that won't pass the final evalution, still it shows a flaw in our system; 2) User must be able to multi-task as I don't want people doing only self-refs as reffing; 3) Gym matches are the closest thing to serious matches and being able to ref those is good test; 4) We need more gym matches reffed.

Like with the 5vs5 doubles, the candidate will have a limited number of DQ Warnings and the tutor will be in charge of giving those DQ Warning on the Gym Match topic (in addition to players). The difference is that the candidate has 1 DQ Warning on the 5vs5 and 2 DQ Warning on the Gym Match.

If no Gym Match available for taking, the player can take a Tournament match. If no tournament match, a serious match (3vs3 or above with items=on) on battle tower. If none of those, then the tutor should challenge someone and do something to create one of those. Those matches are ordinary for all intentions and purposes (they count for slots, their results will be considered normally, no setting will change, the only difference is that the tutor will be able to give DQ Warnings too).

The tutor won't need to list errors. He can list errors at the end of the match (only) if he wants though.

Also it means that if you manage to do both matches, the standards for rejecting elsewhere will be lowered. Which means that you need to a total and utter john on the matches other than those (and/or ref insanely poorly) to be rejecting.

Whitelisted refs that self-ref really poorly or play really suicidal too much may have their licenses revoked.

Matches from this course will not count towards the 3-slots limitation

If the Tutor is DQ'd, the Apprentice asks for a replacement on the main thread.

... And you failed the team check. The Dragonair in the OP and what I sent you was actually the special Raid Dragonair which is only supposed to be used in raids (The Light-typing, genderless nature, and assorted movepool data should have been the giveaway, and I conveniently removed the disclaimer that was meant to be there which if you cross checked my profile, you would have found).

I'll send you a replacement for Dragonair shortly but you are already off to a rough start.

Would be nice to have a simple summary of the battle rules in addition to the 202 outline in the OP but okay.

Your wish is my command

Machamp #Leftovers / Metagross #Expert Belt

Machamp: Dynamicpunch (Landorus)---Ice Punch (Landorus)---Ice Punch (Landorus)
IF Landorus is under the effects of a P/E move when you would act, change target to Fidgit
IF both opponents are under the effect of a P/E move when you would act, THEN Bulk Up and push back
IF Landorus is under the effects of a d/e move AND you don't have No Guard THEN change targets to Landorus

Metagross: Psychic (Fidgit)---Zen Headbutt (Fidgit)---Psychic (Fidgit)
IF Fidgit is in the evasive stage of a damaging evasive move when you would act THEN change to Ice Punch (Landorus)
IF both opposing Pokémon are in the evasive stage of a damaging evasive move when you would act THEN Agility (speed boost) and push back
IF your target if under the effects of a P/E move when you would act THEN Reflect the first instance, Light Screen the second instance, and Iron Defense the third instance

Hello everyone, and welcome to a full doubles battle between me and IAR, sponsored by the Reffing 202 program! Although IAR is just throwing shenanigans basically, it appears he might beat me by accident, especially because I seem to be unable to write subs. I do manage to do a good amount of damage through the "Spam SE STAB" tactic, but this battle is barely beginning.

Ehhh Red Card is stupid. Also innovation is hard. Only thing to note is that I cannot actually toggle toggle abilities ordering second unless I do it when I sent out so Sheer Force stays on. Anyhow:

Elincia: [Mega Evolve] [Trace Sheer Force] Hyper Voice > Psychic (Machamp) > Hyper Voice
IF
Machamp uses Endure, THEN use Snatch on the first instance, pushing actions back.

Landorus: Earthquake > Magnitude > Earthquake
IF
(Damaging Ice Move) (Landorus) is used, THEN use Fly (Machamp) on the first instance, Counter on the second instance, Fly (Machamp) on the third instance, pushing actions back.

Word of Frosty says you actually have the opportunity to Trace before I counterswitch, not after. So pretend I never declined to counterswitch and go ahead and do that, and we'll reorder the round from there.

In that case pretend I missed the boat and never bothered to trace. I do appreciate the reminder though.

After all, I am just testing you as a referee, not attempting to steamroll you! ;)

Hey IAR dummy subs for Counter are rude :<

Machamp: Protect~Ice Punch+Ice Punch (Landorus)~Cooldown (Wide Guard)

Metagross: Ice Punch (Landorus)~Iron Head (Landorus)~Meteor Mash (Gardevoir)

In the second round of this battle, I take out Landorus with some fun Ice-type offense. Despite this, my Pokemon will both actually die to one Hyper Voice from Mega Gardevoir, so this is still anyone's game. Also, IAR uses a dummy sub with Counter. What would deadfox say?

Protect works by using 7 EN on the use and then expending more energy as the attacks get blocked, not use nothing then expend all at once.

Anyhow, Fidgit comes back into the fray.

Machamp: Bullet Punch (Gardevoir)~Bullet Punch (Gardevoir)~Bullet Punch (Gardevoir)
IF Gardevoir is under the effects of a P/E move, THEN target Fidgit
IF both of your opponents are under the effects of a P/E move, THEN Light Screen and pushback\IF you are to use Bullet Punch AND you used Bullet Punch the previous action AND you are tormented THEN Stone Edge (Gardevoir) and pushback
IF you are to use Bullet Punch AND you used Bullet Punch the previous action AND you are Tormented THEN Stone Edge (Gardevoir) and pushback

Metagross: Metal Claw (Gardevoir)~Metal Claw (Gardevoir)~Metal Claw (Gardevoir)
IF Gardevoir is under the effects of a P/E move, THEN target Fidgit
IF both of your opponents are under the effects of a P/E move, THEN Stealth Rock and pushback
IF you are to use Metal Claw AND you used Metal Claw the previous action AND you are tormented THEN Stone Edge (Gardevoir) and pushback

Hitmontop: Triple Kick (Excadrill) > Rolling Kick (Excadrill) > Triple Kick (Excadrill)
IF
(Protective Move) (Excadrill) is used successfully, THEN use Low Sweep (Aerodactyl) that action, pushing actions back.
IF Excadrill is under the effects of Dig when you act, THEN use Low Sweep (Aerodactyl) that action, pushing actions back.

Utilitand: Earth Power (Excadrill) > Drill Run (Excadrill) > Earth Power (Excadrill)
IF

IF Excadrill is under the effects of Dig when you are to use Drill Run, THEN use Rock Slide (Aerodactyl) that action, pushing actions back.

Okay uhh

Hang in there Excadrill!!!!!!

Aerodactyl: [Mega Evolve] Sky Attack (Hitmontop)---Fly (Hitmontop)---Sky Attack (Hitmontop)

Excadrill: Bulldoze---Dig (Fidgit)---Earthquake

Reffing later today or tomorrow

Quick note: because Mega Evolution takes place before anything else, my preround summaries generally include Pokemon in their Mega Evolved forms instead of regular forms. If this is a problem please let me know.
(Also, Fidgit's nickname is spelled wrong but I'm taking it to be spelled correctly. Just in case I was being tested on that too.)

I manage to take out both of IAR's Pokemon and knock him down to two Pokemon remaining, but his Hitmontop drops my Excadrill to extremely low health in the process. Also, I order first in doubles about as well as jayelt413 Zekrom. This battle looks to be heading towards its climax, so don't miss a moment!
