Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
The first action goes off without a hitch for both parties, with Serenity setting up a Reflect and Feck Knight setting up a Safeguard. I'm really glad I had a scarf on hand; the sand in this arena appears to be chafing Serenity, but I'm nice and- OW SAND IN MY EYE SAND IN MY EYE LOOKIN' LIKE A FOOL WITH SAND IN MY EYE!!! (And I even wear glasses...D:)
Unfortunately, Serenity doesn't get nearly as much good fortune for the rest of the round. Her Action 2 Yawn stops short of Feck Knight thanks to Safeguard...but Feck Knight blows the chance of a lifetime by missing with Toxic. The sandstorm rages.
TheWolfe's substitution comes back to bite him/her/it/them/asdfgh/LynchMetang@Spiffy as Serenity uses Psycho Shift. TheWolfe facepalms for two reasons: 1) Safeguard would have prevented it from working, and 2) Toxic ****ing missed the first time. Feck Knight responds with a mighty Venoshock, but Serenity's obvious lack of poisoning causes the attack to do very little damage. SANDS
And then, without warning, we're back in the *cough* city...reffing is *cough* such a *cough* pain sometimes *cough*...
*activates oxygen mask* Serenity chooses to make her first move in the "negative effects of humans" arena...an adorable glance at her same-gender opponent? Feck Knight reluctantly accepts the Attack drop before responding with a vengeful Rock Blast. The attack only hits three times, but one of them crits, mystically causing the entire attack to bypass Serenity's shield. I CALL HAX ON TORTFERNGATR!
...Anyway, Serenity shrugs off her wounds, pulls out a flamethrower (this is Industrialization, after all), and opens fire (get it? ahahahahaha) on Feck Knight. She doesn't take kindly to being torched, however, so she hurls some kind of magic rock at Serenity. The attack doesn't actually do any damage through Reflect, but it does slow Serenity down for a bit.
The now-slightly-faster Feck Knight launches a second Rock Blast at Serenity, hitting 6 TIMES for massive damage...but not a single one crits, leaving Tort to go cry in a corner. Serenity responds by Growling at Feck Knight, which doesn't do all that much, but it at least keeps Feck Knight's Attack down for the next round.
And, suddenly, it's hot again. Curse you, Celebi! *chugs gallon of water*
Taking of advantage of her new speed, Feck Knight races just ahead of Serenity and nails her with a deadly Toxic. Serenity doesn't like that assault on her immune system, so she decides to scorch Feck Knight with a flamethrower. The sun amplifies the blast from the gun, putting Serenity at the advantage for the time being.
Feck Knight gets creative for the next action, setting up a rock barrier that stops the sunlight from getting to Serenity. At least, it would have, but the attack comes up about six inches short, and Serenity gets to take full advantage of the morning sun. Tortferngatr promptly facepalms; I guess that's what happens when you try and be creative...
Deciding that craftiness is something to be left on the backburner, Tortferngatr orders a simple Safeguard on Action 3. Feck Knight willingly obliges, while Serenity just busts out her flamethrower again and opens fire (I crack myself up) on the poor little bagworm. Serene Grace even causes that blast to burn Feck Knight...at least, it would have, had Feck Knight not set up that nifty Safeguard half a second beforehand. Sometimes you gotta love that trollish RNG.
Suddenly, the arena changes; it must be Celebi messing with us again. Everything seems so industrialized...again...why can't we get something original for a change, like 1994 Kanto? Sometimes you gotta hate that trollish RNG...
Serenity is still her usual pyromaniac, nuking Feck Knight further with her flamethrower. Feck Knight is starting to feel the heat (I crack myself up yet again), but that doesn't mean she can't fight back with a Rock Blast! The attacks leave a visible scar in Serenity's side, but they don't seem to do much more than superficial damage.
Regardless, Serenity decides to chill out to open Action 2, allowing Feck Knight to take advantage of Serenity's poisoning and nail her with Venoshock. Despite the massive power increase, it still does less than Rock Blast, but I guess that's what happens when you have Rank 2 SpA...
Now that she's through chilling, Serenity naturally pulls out her flamethrower again, leaving Feck Knight on the brink of being KOed. Another Rock Blast puts Serenity in a bit of a tight spot, but she still has the upper hand when compared to Feck Knight's 9 HP and 12 Energy...
Part II of this epic is coming to a close. Can Tortferngatr pull out a win, or will TheWolfe live long and prosper? Short answer: One of the above!
Oh, and I should probably mention that we've just moved out of the frying pan...and into the forest fire...SMOKEY WHERE ARE YOU
Serenity attempts to finish off Feck Knight with a Tri Attack, only to watch as Feck Knight blocks the attack and hangs on with 1 Energy. How ridiculous...
...Especially when Serenity's next AncientPower fails to KO. Serenity promptly begins a huge swearing spree, the likes of which have never before been seen and never again will be seen in this dimension. Feck Knight looks incredibly offended, leading her to drain the last of her energy with a Rock Blast. Serenity is ridiculously low on health now, and she looks pretty mad about it, but there's no sense beating a dead bagworm and Tortferngatr returns his Pokemon.
As Tortferngatr deploys Frozen, the stage ironically turns from a Forest Fire to a Drought. Seriously, can't I get a new time warp every once in a while?
Hey, guys, look who quite being totally lazy! And I quit just in time to see Frozen decimate Serenity with an Ice-icle Shpeard! TheWolfe recalls Serenity with a little sadness before deploying Azazel to finish up the battle.
I think the RNG must be on good terms with me atm, as it suddenly sends us to a new time period: Snowbound! This pretty much rigs the battle in Tort's favor, but at least the match might end!
"My Pupitar against a Piloswine with type advantage and field advantage? Yeah, I don't think this is going to end well at all, but let's go give it the best we got."
Azazel - Pupitar (M)
Brick Break x3 Sub: IF foe stays underground, THEN use Earthquake.
(Note that I interpreted "slower than normal" to mean a 1-stage Speed drop.)
It seems that Azazel is having some motion issues, as he isn't moving through the deep snow very quickly. Frozen only complicates things by blasting Azazel with a Blizzard, which leaves Azazel chilled to the core! Finally arriving at his destination, Azazel anticlimactically uses a simple Brick Break, failing to do anything extraordinary to Frozen.
Frozen gets sick of waiting for excitement at this point and simply makes the g-g-r-ound-d-d-d-d-d shud-d-d-d-d-d-der with a mass-s-s-s-iv-v-v-v-v-ve earthqua-a-a-a-a-a-ake! Azazel goes flying, eventually hitting the snow and leaving a large, vaguely Pupitar-shaped impact. Of course, this means that we have to wait again, as Azazel has to make his way back across the snow...and we're walking...and we're walking...and Azazel finally makes it, only to use Brick Break again. LAAAAAAAAAAME....
...but not as lame as Action 3, which is an exact duplicate of Action 1. Bleh.
Anyway, what will probably be the final round will apparently take place on Volcanic Pile. Yay.
Azazel, in an attempt to remain alive for as long as possible, decides to protect himself on Action 1. Unfortunately, Frozen decides to simply not attack and just sets up a Reflect around herself and begins chortling. Azazel looks sad...
...but he still has fighting spirit and ingenuity! In a brilliant play, Azazel rushes forward with such intense force that the Reflect shatters on contact and does nothing to help out Frozen against the attack. Frozen responds with a powerful earthquake, which leaves Azazel running lower on health than I'm sure TheWolfe would like.
While Azazel charges some kind of power, Frozen takes advantage of the temporary lapse in action to dig her way underground. This seems to be exactly what Azazel was waiting for, however, as he proceeds to unleash an earthquake with magnitude OVER 9000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Frozen takes a ridiculous amount of damage as a result of being underground, and for a second she doesn't resurface. Then, with great effort, Frozen returns to the surface, hitting Azazel hard enough to knock him out! It was a close, long, hard-fought battle, but it seems that Tortferngatr has come out on top!
Prize Time!
TheWolfe and Tortferngatr each receive 2 CC.
Hakumen (Nohface) receives 1 EC, 2 MC, 1 DC, and 1 KOC.
Serenity (Togetic, now Togekiss) receives 3 MC and 1 KOC.
Azazel (Pupitar, now Tyranitar) receives 3 MC.
Flatten (Timburr) evolves into Gurdurr and receives 2 MC and 1 DC.
Feck Knight (Wormadam) receives 2 MC, 1 DC, and 1 KOC.
Frozen (Piloswine) receives 1 EC, 2 MC, and 1 KOC.
Dummy007 receives 7 UC.
Good game; sorry it took so long to conclude. I have to say, TheWolfe's last round of orders was brilliant, but Tort's Rock Tomb idea was some nice roleplaying. Overall, good job, both of you, and good luck in the future!
