Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-247462524
Dragon Rush Garchomp without Hone Claws, Reversal Scyther (two kills), and Electro Ball Mega Mewtwo Y.
Dragon Rush was probably for Minimize users, as it always hits them and gets double power. Scyther... good coverage, but good luck getting it that low without a sash. As for MMY, Electro Ball does take advantage of the 140 base speed, but what is it hitting, Kyogre?

Welp, InfernapeTropius11 suggested I should post this replay here, and here it is.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/inversebattle-247504413

Now I haven't played much inverse (as a matter of fact this was my first tour battle with Inverse, third round I believe, but I lost on the next battle) so my team certainly wasn't the best, however I didn't really expect a flying monotype, especially with those Pokemon sets.
I'm guessing the opponent wasn't experienced either, making noticeable mistakes like using Focus Blast on Chansey despite the resist. However, there were some things that... well... were silly.
Mixed Mega Charizard Y with Flare Blitz and Thunder Punch
Flamethrower Gyarados
Outrage Landorus-T

The one thing I regret is defeating all of their other Pokemon. It would have been interesting to see their movesets on Braviary, Gliscor and Thundurus...
That one looks like it could be out of OU.

Rush does pair well with a Hone Claws set, which allows it to actually hit, as well as improving the accuracy of any Fire Blasts or Stone Edges you wanted to toss out. Otherwise, you have to hit the Minimized target, and good luck with 75% accuracy on top of evasion boosts.

Scyther did get that low (one Rush hit it for 94%). I'm guessing at least some defensive investment (+2 252+ Atk Garchomp Dragon Rush vs. 0 HP / 252 Def Eviolite Scyther: 219-258 (77.9 - 91.8%)), which would allow it to tank a Rush and then fire off a 150 BP Reversal.

MMY would be hitting Kyogre...and Ho-Oh and maybe Palkia, but that's all I can think of. Ubers don't tend to be slow.

Even if it wasn't specs HP Rock, it's still a bad idea to use Grass moves on Azumarill. One of its main niches in 1v1 is being a decently bulky Perish Song user with superb defensive typing and an ability that bolsters said defensive typing even further. Granted, it could have been Huge Power, but it lives Solar Beam anyway in that scenario.
What else could I have done? It was on the 1v1 ladder >.<

Let's start with:
  • (R) Dedenne ever.
  • (R) Giga Impact in any game where switching is allowed.
  • (R) Dedenne gets a kill from a reasonable distance out. Even in randbats, where level balancing ensures even freaking Unown has a chance to be dangerous, you can barely do that.
Anyway, got a couple more.

Today I learned Stunfisk gets Scald. And that Shiny Mega Absol is U-G-L-Y, it ain't got no alibi. At least it takes a Focus Blast to the face, courtesy of Victini. Also, Yanmega finds out its speed tier the hard way. This is why we have Protect, people.

And this is a doozy.

  • (R) Ash team. Spoiler alert: Ash wins (although he's certainly capable of that even within a game perspective; the writers just keep screwing him over).
  • (L) Blaziken with Overheat. As it originated from before the Physical/Special Split, it can go special, I guess, but yikes.
  • (R) Air Balloon Infernape, also with Overheat. Nape has some nice options on both sides as well, but again, yikes.
  • (L) Mega Lucario switching into and then daring to Mega Evolve in front of said Infernape (first one missed).
  • (L) Fully special Dragonite with Draco Meteor, Flamethrower and Ice Beam. Said Draco does literally zero (thinking of you, aim) to a non-mega'd Charizard (at -2, to be fair).
  • (R) Said Zard does mega to X...eventually. Its moveset consists of Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Dragon Claw/Aerial Ace. (#WrongStat) This set, it appears, was designed to take its sweet time checking that box.
  • (L) Mightyena with Shadow Ball. (#DarkIsNotGhost #WrongStat)
  • (R) Mixed Swellow with Brave Bird and Air Slash, deftly avoiding the advantages of both its physical (fastest Guts Facade in the game, plus STAB) and special (Boomburst) sets.
  • (L) Special Weavile with Shadow Ball (again, #DarkIsNotGhost) and Blizzard. (#AccuracyMuch #WrongStat) Who are you, Paul? Scratch that, that's an insult even Paul doesn't deserve.
  • (R) Oh yeah, Pikachu. This one had Volt Tackle (okay) and Light Screen. Okay then.

The all ubers team has more problems than the team with Dedenne.

Hydro Pump Pressure Lugia
Fire Blast Primal Groudon (Just use Overheat)
Outrage and Flash Cannon Xerneas
Them not switching out of Yyevtal when I was setting up Dragon Dance on Zygarde (Yeah, because Aura Break completly doesn't make Yyvetal weaker at all)

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/mixandmega-248345059
Hydro Pump Primal Kyogre (Do people seriously not know about Origin Pulse?)
Blizzard Dialga
Fire Blast Mega Charizard X

Dragon Rush always hit Pokémon with Evasion boosts
Thats only if it uses Minimize, that doesn't work with other Evasion boosting moves (Same goes for Stomp, Steam Roller, Body Slam, Flying Press, Phantom Force, and Shadow Force)

You forgot to mention the complete lack of Megas in L's team (Replay 1) and R's team (Replay 2)

dswagg363 sent out DNA (Reuniclus)!

Heracross used Substitute!
Heracross's Protean made it the Normal type!
Heracross put in a substitute!
Heracross lost 24.7% of its health!
Turn 13
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.

Heracross used Knock Off!
Heracross's Protean made it the Dark type!
It's super effective! The opposing DNA lost 97% of its health!
Heracross knocked off the opposing DNA's Life Orb!

The opposing DNA used Trick Room!
The opposing DNA twisted the dimensions!
Turn 14
You have 150 seconds to make your decision.

The opposing DNA used Psyshock!
It doesn't affect Heracross...

I'm assuming that this may be a C&E or something, but that's not why it's here. It's here because there's a Thunder Punch Charmander using it on Protean Dig Froakie.

Kee Berry Blissey. That also Protected while at 2% and burned.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/stabmons-248705858
Grass Whistle Parasect. That is dumb on so many levels. Although, to be fair, Spore doesn't mesh with Forest's Curse.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248707163
Weavile is good, but Brick Break and Aerial Ace are not. Low Kick does more damage than Brick Break against almost everything relevant, and Aerial Ace is just shit.

Um... Monferno?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/tiershift-248708728
I don't even want to know what Hidden Power that Talonflame had. And nice try on that Bide Shuckle.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248710118
Given that the opponent has Mega Kangaskhan, and she is faster than Kyogre, I doubt Water Spout is a good choice.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248713134
Normal Charizard and Aerodactyl, Dazzling Gleam Diancie, and Volbeat.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248711988
A dim-witted Venusaur and friends vs. an all-fossil team featuring Fury Cutter Armaldo not coming in until EQ Megamence had taken out all its friends.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-248712484
Huh, a Mega Gardevoir. Better use Draco Meteor on it. And later, Toxic Spikes Blissey.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248714324
Fun fact: Protect is a 100% upgrade to Detect.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248712833
Hoo boy... Yet another normal Charizard getting into a stall war with Dragon Breath Mega Altaria, Electivire at all, let alone with Barrier, and Light Screen+Hyper Beam Blissey that made Brick Break Dragonite happy.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248713265
You are at 5%, Kyogre. Quit spamming Water Spout and switch.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248714178
Floette. Yeah. Also a Hypnosis+Dream Eater normal Gardevoir. On a team with Torkoal and Pikachu.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248714371
This battle is why we can't have nice things.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogontriples-248716728
Ah, the infamous Shedinja gimmick, failing miserably thanks to a well timed Knock Off (and a not so well timed High Jump Kick). Also, Final Gambit everywhere. At least he was smart enough to run Inner Focus Lucario for Fake Out spam.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-248715951
Top percentage, my ass.

Did you not learn from the first failure of Captivate?

I seriously can't stand anyone who names their Pokémon after FNAF characters. The only reason my PS username is FNAF related is because I got it when FNAF wasn't as shitty as it is right now and I haven't come up with a better name yet.

In fact, I hate it when people shoehorn names into Pokémon so they fit a dumb theme.
