Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

Thisnameisused's team: Weedle / Caterpie / Metapod / Kakuna / Luvdisc / Pikachu-Cosplay
★Thisnameisused: Ready to lose?
The opposing Scizor used Aerial Ace!
It's super effective! Weedle lost 100% of its health!
Weedle fainted!
Omegav32Sable won the battle!
★Thisnameisused: hAX

Oh my God, that one had me rolling.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-292595829
Mixed Arceus-Steel, and a funny moment on turn 33.
Ah yes, the infamous Zero Turn Freeze. Also, left admits having nothing for Darkrai. That's kinda not as good idea.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-292596163
Well, that's one way to spinblock (turn 7). Also, Dark Pulse Bisharp, and left switching way too much with all those hazards up.
You know, here I was thinking Ferrothorn actually had a bit of longevity, even in AG. Also, that same Ferro couldn't count to three Spikes. And had Giga Drain.

I'M BAAACK.
With stupid things.

http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/anythinggoes-292806340
Oh god, mah type chart.
Toxic blaziken
Non Gale wings talonflame
Brick Break Mega Bee
Mixed Scyther
EGG BOMB BLISSEY. WHY.

http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/anythinggoes-292804162
The chat. No posturing or anything like that. Just Noob talk.

Odd sets, including mixed contrary Serp, Mixed scoli, mixed everything pretty much.
Triple Blue flare miss
Bulk Up Dialga is okay, but not with Protect(and apparently, only Shadow Claw)

http://pokemonshowdown.com/replay/smogtours-anythinggoes-100262
Then there's this. A tourney match. Sad.
Agility Scolipede. Speed Boost Much? (also quick claw gatta go fest)
Type Chart shenanigans
Hypnosis miss Gengar.
And More!

Playing randbats, as I am wont to do, and I receive probably the strangest Charizard I've ever seen: Air Slash/Flare Blitz/EQ/Flying Gem Acrobatics.
I know that when literally nobody who knows what they're doing uses non-mega Zard you have to improvise a bit, but huh? I also had a Banded Gyarados on that same team, which is unusual even for randbats.

Pro tip: you can't stack more than 3 Stockpiles at once. Pro tip #2: Stockpile is ass.
I'm actually going to defend this one. While you might argue that stockpile wasn't the absolute best move they could have done in the situation vs Azumarill, it was better than most. They were likely conserving PP on toxic and recover, since that Azumarill? Yeah, it's obviously sap sipper and Cradily's only attacking move is giga drain. How can we tell it's Sap Sipper? Well, at one point
Azumarill used Play Rough!
The opposing buy my stocks lost 6.4% of its health!
but the roll on that for Huge Power looks at absolute minimum like this.
0- Atk Huge Power Azumarill Play Rough vs. +3 252 HP / 252+ Def Cradily: 30-36 (7.9 - 9.5%)

It's not silly therefore to be using stockpile (which is essentially useless for the rest of the match) instead of giga drain, and they were likely conserving recover PP for when it was needed.

I can't speak for the usefulness of stockpile itself though.

Overall, this was actually a medium quality replay, considering that one player (left) was a bot.

Not really stupid plays just silly interactions like Parting Shot vs. Magic Bounce and Skill Swapping Imposter.
Didn't watch the replay, but Parting Shot vs. Bounce is legit (basically Whirlwind+you lose Atk/spa which generally doesn't affect the mon too much as usually walls use pshot) and Skill Swap allows Imposter to beat Substitute or Illusion users by turning them into Chansey.

Yeah I just didn't know about the Skill Swap one until that battle and the Parting Shot one until about a week ago.

Protip: if you're using Taillow in a Hail + FEAR team, don't send it out during hail. Also right's username is really fitting.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-293315395
List time! Left might only have a Weakness Policy Chandelure, but right, though...
  • Arceus-Dragon which used anything apart from its STAB, including the use of Psychic on Reuniclus when it had Dark Pulse and (if present) Judgment.
  • Seismic Toss / Focus Blast (used on Reuniclus and lowered its Sp.Defense) / Megahorn Mega Heracross.
  • Non-Mega Blastoise with Zen Headbutt and Water Spout. A few typechart issues with this one, as well.

I've got a new batch of AG replays here. I may not be able to keep everything straight, and I'm surely not listing every stupid thing!

Well, after a downtime with replays, it's time I found more stuff.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-295917797
Among other things, Aegislash-Blade, Hex+Toxic Spikes Slurpuff, Magcargo, Thunder+Thunderbolt Chansey, and Magma Storm+Weather Ball Safety Goggles Snow Warning Mismagius.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-295915296
That, folks, is a Magnezone without Magnet Pull.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295927292
Focus Blast Berry Juice Medicham, Rest Tauros, Rock Polish Mega Camerupt (dat 20 base speed tho), all against a Cosmic Power+Charge Beam Beheeyem.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-295927859
Turn 2, Dragon Claw+Giga Impact Torterra, Meganium ever, using Toxic on Aegislash, and lefty cursing out righty in Spanish, when in reality, he got cursed (back in turn 1).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/1v1-295933312
Deoxys-S stalling out a Charizard-X is one thing, but righty did not help his cause out by Roosting on turns 1 and 2, when lefty did not use an attacking move the entire battle.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295930502
Lefty has mono Haxorus. Righty had Iron Head Lugia and, apparently, a mad obsession with speed control.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295930980
Aegislash's Weakness Policy activated on Pursuit as it was switching. Later, "Pointed stones dug into Alakazam!"

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-295931936
Not really sure why you choose Crustle, of all things, for your Contrary Dragon Ascent spam. On a side note, I'm not entirely sure what that Latios thought Freeze-Dry would hit.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295934386
Left had 4 level 100 FEAR Aron. That does not work. As for right... BONUS DUCKS!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295929124
The OHKO moves hit just often enough against 5 mons of a UU team, and ended up making Crobat kill itself. If my math is correct, the winning Guillotine from Gliscor came on that move's last PP.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/smogontriples-295939902
Gimmick vs. gimmick here, but the Snorlax is what won this one for lefty.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295938900
Facade+Iron Tail Luxray that, judging by the damage output, did not have Guts, Freeze Shock Kyurem-B with no Power Herb, Blizzard normal Rayquaza, and Aurorus cleaning up after snagging an Ancient Power boost.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-295938465
Two attempts at Imprison+Transform, one unsuccessfully by Lugia, the other successfully by... Smeargle, which ended up sweeping. Also starring Eruption+Aeroblast+Searing Shot+Solar Beam Charizard-Y, which was at least smart enough to run Desolate Land.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295938586
This entire battle is what is wrong with the AG ladder.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295937939
So is this one. On a side note, TIL Charizard can learn Quick Attack.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-295938999
And I conclude this post with birdspam cranked up to 11.

In honor of Thanksgiving, some turkeys on PS.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/inheritance-297826779
Somehow, I get the feeling that righty did not know how Inheritance works. Or how competitive Pokemon in general works, for that matter.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-297828759
A 3 mon team consisting of Shuckle that got flinch haxed, Nasty Plot Alakazam-Mega (when Tail Glow exists) and Eruption Desolate Land Solrock when like a million other things do that better.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-297828204
AnybodyAgrees I found you. And your opponent, well, I wish I hadn't found him.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-297828671
Normal Audino with Dazzling Gleam, and Alomomola using Toxic on Xatu twice.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-297828833
Well, that's one way to deny a Krookodile sweep: Bounce Victini.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-297832730
Lefty won despite having Explosion Smeargle and Regigigas. There was also a rather, well, let's go with dim spectator near the beginning.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-297803456
Dragonite uses Earthquake on Klefki, does 86%. Dragonite proceeds to do nothing.

The worst team ever vs. Baton Pass Espeon

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-297818926
The worst team ever vs. Immunity-blind Arceus

Happy holidays, everyone.

Don't have a replay, but I played an AG battle against a guy who had Breloom with Poison Heal, Brick Break, Sky Uppercut, and a Rock move I don't remember (was probably Stone Edge), Whiscash, and Torment Magician Klefki (it didn't go before my Darkrai).

Now for some replays.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-299704918
Ice team beats Fire team thanks to things like Blaze Kick Infernape and Assault Vest Heatran. Don't understand the Psychic Froslass, either.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299704731
Yet another Torrent Greninja, non-mega Blastoise using Focus Blast on Clefable (which I hope to Arceus had Unaware), and Gengar failing to outspeed Charizard, costing left the game.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299702641
Of all the things that could be using Trick Room, Delphox, which has 104 base speed.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299709122
Ambipom, Pikachu-Rock-Star, Dazzling Gleam Assault Vest Altaria, and others.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/monotype-299706684
More haxy than silly, but a triple Protect stops special Lucario in its tracks.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299709327
"Chansey used Egg Bomb! Pichu lost 100% of its health! Pichu fainted!" And more.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299709493
A team that appears to be stuck in a different generation gets swept by Mismagius, but partially due to Hypnosis missing three times.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299708492
Mega Gallade used Close Combat, which is good... but then Dazzling Gleam. And then Synchronoise (against Vaporeon). Breloom later used Spore on Venusaur. And he won (thanks to more hax).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299707630
More grassholes, featuring a very brave Breloom, and turn 18.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299712023
This battle made my day. To make a long story short, lone Shuckle wins. There was an Ice Punch Blastoise, two zero turn freezes, and some funny chat as well.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-299711762
Metronome team narrowly loses.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299711710
The guy from the second replay returns, facing HP Electric Dragonite and a Mega Garchomp that doesn't know the type chart.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299717776
No, Facade is not an excuse to use Toxic Orb Kyurem-Black.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299717700
Two Toxic Spikes Torrent Greninja, Starmie using Psyshock on one of them, and a bunch of Dark Pulse flinches.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299715715
Ash team actually wins, thanks in part to his opponent not being much better, and Flame Body Talonflame channeling Ralph Simpson (which, if you're unaware, is a running joke on /vp/).

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299715842
Charm Cinccino, Shedinja with no hazard removal, and using Fake Out on Mega Gallade.

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299721053
On the opposite end of the Metronome spectrum, Giratina-O destroys it. Of course, Metronome mainly calling Fighting moves against it can help.

Alrighty, let's see what gold this batch brings:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299709122
Ambipom, Pikachu-Rock-Star, Dazzling Gleam Assault Vest Altaria, and others.
  • (R) No Mega Sceptile? Okay then, it's not like there aren't better Unburden abusers.
  • (L) Can't say I've seen Ice Punch on an Ambipom before.
  • (R) Dragonite comes in on a Swampert. Which megas, aaaand cue the Ice Punch.
Timeout. Here's the calc, assuming most common EV spreads in AG:
252+ Atk Mega Swampert Ice Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Multiscale Dragonite: 210-248 (65 - 76.7%)
Yes, we have an Inner Focus Dragonite.
Continuing:
  • (R) Next send-in is Garchomp, which turns out to be the mega. Chomp turns out to be a bulky build and lives the Ice Punch.
  • (L) Here's the Altaria, sent in probably banking on Chomp, confused, to exit. Tell you what, that Krookodile sure did get caught out.
  • (L) Pikachu Rock-Star has Discharge and gets to see two mons drop without it doing anything: Hydreigon from Toxic, then Chomp from Spikes. And then proceeds to kill Slowbro and win the game. Pikachu got a kill, your argument is invalid.
And then there's this:
http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-299707630
More grassholes, featuring a very brave Breloom, and turn 18.
  • (L) This test is not going to end well.
  • (R) Primal Groudon set of Rock Polish/Flamethrower/Solar Beam/Dragon Pulse. I guess going for neutral coverage? It works pretty well here.
  • (L)★PlatinumCyndaquil: oh jeez Yep, this guy gets it. Except he's part of it
  • (L) And then let's send Scolipede in against a +2 Speed PDon! What could go wrong?
  • (L) RP Donphan. Look out, UU. The following turn demonstrates why this is a bad idea: no, even at +2 you're not catching PDon. Especially when it's at +2 itself.
  • (R) PDon, about to do a number on Amphy, retreats and lets another teammate, Breloom, get a couple of licks in. Loom switches into a Dragon Pulse and hangs on with two HP.
  • (L) Left reveals Amphy's Hidden Power as Flying (probably hits something incredibly specific, if anybody knows UU please explain).
  • (R) Oh, he's SubPunch. Lovely.
  • (L) Quizzes about Amphy's nickname. Why, I thought it was a Pulp Fiction reference. [/s]
  • (B) Turn 18. Loom vs. Roserade, the latter being last mon. Loom proceeds to Spore. While Rosie goes for a Synthesis, knowing Loom's only attacking move is Focus Punch.
  • (L) Rosie Synthesizes a couple of more times...and then Leech Seeds. Twice. Resulting in a Protect and a miss. Apparently it doesn't have Sludge Bomb.
Anyway, this is #700 for me, as it turns out. I'd like to thank you guys for a ton of laughs, and I'm proud that we've kept this thread going for 115 pages. Let's keep it up!

One quick mention: in Randombats, I faced 2 consecutive opponents who lead with Primal groudon. that's pretty unlikely!

Go! Landorus-Therian!

Excuse me, sir, but I don't think that's how FEAR works. (The only reason why I went for Icicle Crash was to try and fish for flinch chances)

The guy had the six 100-in-each-stat legendary fairies, all probably without Speed investment (I outpaced his Jirachi and Victini with Precipice Blades), and with METRONOME. Unsurprisingly, he got 6-0'd. All I can say is, it was free ladder points, and I certainly can't complain about that.

FALCOWNPAUNCH! won the battle!
Ladder updating...

This speaks for itself. His team was more legit than either of the other two, though.

I fought the guy from the first replay, except he had Cryogonal as his FEAR 'mon, and he STILL didn't understand how FEAR works. He also sent it in against my Mold Breaker Mega Gallade when his Mega Ray would've taken care of it.

I also posted multiple show/hide tags and I don't know how to undo them, so the third one of each actually shows the stupid.
