Silly Things You've Seen In Other Metagames

I'm still wondering how Ditto was doing so little damage while Jigglypuff was doing so much damage. IIRC, CS doesn't affect the damage output.
Jiggs has much more HP than ditto and I'm pretty sure choice scarf does affect gyro ball (I can't find a good source on it though)
Edit: Jiggs probably also had eviolite

Strangely, everybody loves Scald, but Lava Plume and Discharge (literally same move, different types) don't get the same hype. Ah, whatever.
Lava Plume and Discharge are stopped by Fire-types and Electric/Ground-types, respectively. Scald is great because it hits the 'mons that are immune to its status super-effectively instead of not-very-effectively.

scald is usually used just or the burn chance. For example, Alomomola (did i spell it correctly?) struggles to KO Fire-types with Scald because of its pathetic 40 Sp. Atk. As for Discharge, a lot of things that get it usually also get Thunder Wave, so it usually only sees use on bulky Electrics.

Keldeo, Manaphy, Slowbro, Starmie, Blastoise, Slowking, and Suicune all rely on Scald to provide offensive coverage/STAB.

but they also use it for the burn chance over surf don't they
OK so a lot of waters do run Scald as their main method of hurting stuff, but you can't deny that they use it for the utility.

AG replays are a goldmine.

Left:
Switching in Rayquaza, which was not mega, against Arceus-Ice.
Arceus-Water Defogging its own hazards away.

Right:
GeoXern without a Power Herb.
Roar of Time Darkrai.
Arceus-Ice is bad enough, but Judgment+Blizzard+Blast Burn is worse. Especially when used against Arceus-Water.
Eject Button Close Combat+Aerial Ace Keldeo.
Transform+Acrobatics Mew, also with an Eject Button.

Left:
AIR BALLOON NINJASK.
Watchog ever, using Crunch on Darkrai.

Right:
Superpower (used on Ninjask)+Draco Meteor+Brick Break+Zen Headbutt Zygarde.
Drain Punch Darkrai, used on Sableye, also forgetting about Magic Bounce, presumably after Zekrom hit it with Toxic. (Teravolt much?) It later had the infamous Foul Play.
Dragon Pulse+Aeroblast+Giga Drain+Earthquake King's Rock Lugia.
Draco Meteor+Fire Blast+Earthquake+Avalanche Arceus-Dragon.

TerraCott (or, in this case, TerraVile) be damned, there is no excuse to use 3 NFEs in Triples. The double Blizzard miss was also hilarious.

This one is notable for the Seahawks at the Super Bowl level choke at the end by righty. Especially after lefty used water moves under Desolate Land.

And a BH replay for a change.

Left:
V-Create King's Rock... Ducklett. Insert "BONUS DUCKS" joke here.
V-Create Munchlax.
A pitifully weak Rock Star Pikachu holding an Apicot Berry.
Dragon Claw normal Charizard. At least it had V-Create, which, as you can probably tell, was a common theme in this battle.
Volbeat at all, holding an Air Balloon, using, you guessed it, V-Create.

Right:
Explosion Wigglytuff.
Transform normal Altaria.
Leech Life Mega Audino with both Spore and Sleep Powder.
Manually Mega Evolving a Lucario.

I keep forgetting Groudon has no good physical Fire moves. Strangely, everybody loves Scald, but Lava Plume and Discharge (literally same move, different types) don't get the same hype. Ah, whatever.
One reason for this is that you often switch in a fire or electric type to take the lava plume or discharge (and are immune to the status they give), but a lot of the things that resist water don't like being burned.

Let's play Count and Name all the wrong things in this Anything Goes battle cause Dr Ciel can't count that high!

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/anythinggoes-243491426
Left:
  • Calm Mind + Psycho Boost Deoxys-S. Why going faster with Nasty Plot when you can do things at your pace? Alas, it fell to a crit Scald going through its SpD boosts.
  • Sitrus Berry Ho-Oh, without any hazard control, sent out vs. Manaphy. It leaves again for...
  • Sitrus Berry (again?) Xerneas.
  • Sitrus Berry (AGAIN?!?) Lugia with Psycho Boost (again?), who forgot to Roost off its residual damage from Scald.
  • A very lucky Rayquaza who boosts three times its Attack with Swords Dance. The first two times, Ferrothorn is fully paralyzed. Then Rayquaza will attack... eh no. It boosts again to +6 (quite a greedy battler in general) and Forry hides behind a Substitute, forcing it to switch out for the incoming Thunder Wave.
  • Primal Groudon using EQ first, then Precipice Blades against a Talonflame. The first time (turn 7), it was a Zoroark disguised. This time, EQ confirmed it was the true Talonflame (no effect) but it uses the other Ground-type move again... typechart, anyone? Or just a lack of awareness?
  • Rayquaza comes back, using Fire Blast on Talonflame (once again, typechart, anyone?).
Right:
  • Ferrothorn without any offensive move. Good luck vs. Taunt users. Fortunately, the opposing Deoxys-S didn't have that move. It also used SR twice instead of Spikes.
  • Hyper Beam (gotta love these free turns) Zoroark. At least Talonflame is a good disguise, resisting all its weaknesses.
  • Brave Bird + Acrobatics (coverage?) Talonflame. Generally, Talonflame without any kind of hazard control.
  • Swagger + Hidden Power Poison or Steel Manaphy. For Grass-types, you have Ice Beam (if HP Poison) and you already have a Ferrothorn for Steel... oh wait, did I say that Ferrothorn didn't have any offensive move?

Got one from my own play. (Yes, it's unrated randbats, don't judge me.) I have a Double Dance Diggersby as my lead, while my opponent ends up with the infamous Air Balloon Rotom-Fan. I take a Will-O, then he switches out to Lilligant. Alright, here comes the Petal Dance, so I kick out to my Lum Berry DD MoxieMence. I use the Petal Dance turns to get to +3--and it turns out it's not Own Tempo. (There's a wicked good QD/PD set with Own Tempo that pretty much demolishes everything if you can get it in.) This isn't the poor guy's fault, though.

Well, I calc and see a +3 EQ isn't going to kill, so I click Outrage. I get one kill and go to +4 Attack.

Next mon in is a Cofagarius, which passes Mummy but dies.

Next mon is is a Mega Latios, which doesn't outspeed and dies. Confusion kicks in, cue the Lum Berry.

Now--only now, when I'm at +4/+3--does he send in a BellyJet Azumarill. EQ does 89% and trips the Berry, so of course Belly Drum fails. He quits after that.

I could've had that sweep gutted before it even got off the ground, and instead I get a 6-0. Really? Do these people even know how to play Pokemon?

http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/balancedhackmons-243964526 A team celebrates on their way to defeat in the finals of a Balanced Hackmons tournament. Groudon-Primal (the leader and strongest member of the team) had enough of it so he blew up... and

Ransei: Um, clean up on the final isle. I repeat clean up on the final isle. We have pieces of Groudon-Primal everywhere from when it exploded on turn 13 and we need it cleaned immediately.

We seriously need this cleaned up. We can't have rotten Groudon-Primal pieces everywhere on the walls, floors, and ceilings of buildings. It'll scare away the costumers and give them heart attacks ;~;

The guy on the right has some good ideas, but they are very poorly executed, and his team is completely outclassed by the Arceus formes, Regigigas, and many Megas.

The guy on the left though, is absolutely atrocious.
Snow Warning Milotic. Now I've seen everything.

FEAR Donphan vs. a team that would be shit in OU, never mind BH.

I tried to get into RU with an alt (Scarf Gigalith). The other guy had some...questionable choices.
  • Draco Meteor/AGUAV Berry Tyrantrum
  • Fire Blast/Flamethrower/Berry Juice Delphox
  • Absorb Bulb Houndoom (Which does surprise KO my Jolteon)
  • Fire Blast Emboar (Ever heard of Reckless?)
  • Charge Beam/Wild Charge Jolteon (Nice 65 Atk, nerd)
  • Zap Cannon Eelektross
