whoa hardbreaking one for the Bruins...

they dominated the OT.....

I'll ride on my early before-playoffs predictions and take the Hurricanes in 6 against the Pens while the Red Wings will beat the Hawks in 6 as well.

10/12 so far!

The much better Staal brother will prevail.

This definitely has potential to be an entertaining series.

I can see either of the teams winning it, but predicting the pens will take it as long as their offense keeps producing as it has been, and if Fleury is able to stay solid in net.

FUCK YEAH CANES. in all honesty this is going to be the best finals i think in the history of forever. both teams are so fucking scorching right now it's ridiculous. predicting pens in 7 but if fleury has an off game we're fucked. i kinda want the canes to win actually. i love them. they might become my favorite team again...

Will feature first person fighting:
NHL 10 Replicates Emotion, Intensity of Hockey

May 14, 2009 EA today announced that EA SPORTSTM has innovated a new, physical brand of hockey that includes first-person fighting in NHL 10 to match the toughness and emotional intensity real-world NHL players endure in pursuit of a Stanley CupTM Championship.

The franchise that has won 19 sports game of the year awards over the past two years begins a new era with gameplay innovations that deliver a new standard of toughness, the emotion of playoff hockey on the ice and in the arena, and over 200 gameplay refinements that replicate the skill and finesse that every fan sees throughout the NHL playoffs.

A new first-person fighting engine enables players to trade punches with an NHL tough guy. Feel what it's like to be on the ice in the skates of an NHL player to throw and dodge punches. Grab and tug an opponent's jersey to land a punch that ignites the fans and sparks your team to victory. Challenge a skill player and an opposing team tough guy will step in to settle the score.

On ice toughness and intimidation is taken to a new level in NHL 10 where winning one-on-one battles for possession of the puck along the boards becomes a test of will and skill. Utilizing an all-new board physics engine, players can use their body to shield the puck on the boards and then kick-pass it to teammates. Bigger, stronger players pin opponents to the boards while fanatical fans bang on the glass, just like real life. Fore-check defenders, pressure the puck and finish checks to intimidate your opponent into mistakes. Players fatigue, bobble passes, and avoid collisions under threat of constant physical pressure. Inspire teammates, ignite the fans and change the momentum of a game by instigating scrums, drawing penalties, and mixing it up - all after the referee blows the whistle!

"This is the most authentic simulation of hockey we have ever created," said Producer David Littman, a former NHL and minor league goaltender now in his eighth year working on the NHL franchise. "The Stanley Cup is the most difficult trophy in all of sports to win and NHL 10 replicates the emotion, intensity and toughness players require to win the Cup."

NHL 10 features more than 200 gameplay refinements that replicate the skill and finesse of hockey and deliver the most responsive and authentic action ever for the series. Players can one-time loose pucks, score from their knees, knock pucks out of the air and lift a leg to fake a shot on goal. A new 360° precision passing mechanic delivers control over the speed and direction of passes so players can bank passes off the boards or play the puck into space for teammates to skate on to it. Plus, all-new interactive crowds bring the emotion of playoff hockey to life with towel-waving fans, glass bangers and crowds that react to the action on the ice.

Prove you are tough enough to quiet the crowd, silence the opposition and survive a playoff run to lift the Stanley Cup in NHL 10.

NHL 10 will be available in stores this September for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system with an MSRP of $59.99. It is developed under the EA SPORTS brand by EA Canada in Burnaby, B.C. The game has not been rated.

*Based on total sales in 2008 according to the NPD.

Fuck, the East is bullshit. I really don't care who makes it to the finals, as long as the West team wins. And on that note, thank god the Red Wings didn't get jobbed out of that game 7.

Chill Murray

get well soon jacoby..
I'm pretty much of the same opinion as DM, but I'm pulling for the Hawks.

Also, as far as '10 goes, the fighting isn't a big deal to me since I rarely do it anyway. However, these things look awesome:

Looks like they'll be fixing a lot of the little bullshit things, which makes me happy. I also heard somewhere they're fixing up goalies too but I don't have a source for it.

With all of this new real shit, expect me tear it up then. Especially the leg kick thing. Watch as I leg kick, open ice a defender, leg kick dangle and then score.

Also

I am thinking the Hawks will take the Wings in 6. I am also a believer in the Canes over Penguins, in a 7 game series.

To echo plenty of other people (though not in this thread I guess), I am still damn mad I could not watch any of the Bruins-Hurricanes 3rd period and overtime.

I went 3/4 on my predictions last round even getting two in the correct number of games. That puts me at 9/12 overall so far.

I think Detroit is pretty beat up after that last series, but I don't think it will matter. I think that the Wings match up well with the Hawks too. Detroit in 6.

I really don't know who I think will win this one. One second I think Carolina the next Pittsburgh. I think I'll take the Pens in 7.

Yeah if they lost because of that bs goalie interference call I would have died.

7/8 first round, 3/4 second round, 10/12 altogether. Just got the 'Nucks/'Hawks series and the Sharks/Ducks series' wrong. This time I'm going to go with: 'Hawks in 7, Pens in 6.

Although honestly these are so hard to call it's not even funny. I would just rather see the 'Hawks go to the SCF than the Red Wings again, and with the Pens I just see the 'Canes as having a hard time stopping the fire power they have. The Bruins nor the Devils had two players of the same skill level as Crosby and Malkin, not to mention guys like Staal, Guerin, Kunitz, Gonchar, etc. Cam Ward could fuck shit up though, he's probably the big difference maker in this series and would be the reason the 'Canes win.

VS

I'll take Red Wings in 5 or 6. Coming off of a tough series with my Ducks(we lost ;_;) they should be ready to handle anything that can be thrown at them. Blackhawks are tough especially with taking down the Canucks like that but time after time the Red Wings always continue to dominate the playoffs.

VS

Stanley Cup rematch sadly imo. Penguins in 6. I don't wanna talk about it >_<.

I'm hoping for Canes vs. Wings in finals, and since those Blackhawks outed my Canucks I am hoping that the Wings will avenge my team :)

Edit: Make it seven!

Apparently, Bettman is more interested in a return to Winnipeg than he is to a move to Hamilton.

Now make it happen and perhaps people in Quebec City will take the hint, build a new arena and get my damn Nordiques back.

we got our asses handed to us a little bit ago but your added offense would help! so i'd be game.. need to shake off this 4 months of rust

I actually heard that Winnipeg needs a bigger stadium or something that makes it so that it's not a possible location (I can't remember what exactly, but it came from an interview with Bettman). He also said they are relocating and trying another area...too bad I didn't get to listen to what possible places they would be =/

Their arena is relatively small but new and it can be upgraded to an NHL-standard one later.

Hamilton's is 30 years old.
