Contest Hall: Achisuto

Struck by the Kangaskhan and Gardevoir, Achisuto collapsed upon the ground. Weakly, he stood up...

...but the shock of the combined attacks had ruined his focus, turning what he had been trying to do in on himself.

The energy he had been threatening to change the world with wracked his body as it all returned at once, sending him into unconciousness.

Mount Coronet: Kyofu

N/A (Knocked Out)

Amity Park: Unmei

Unmei stared at Hourousha in a daze.

How? How? I was fated to fall.

"I am not complaining," the man with the scythe stated. "Fate guides us, but it is not absolute. We can fight it."

Perhaps I am still fated to fall... just not yet.

"There we go," Hourousha weakly smiled. "For a moment there, I was worried you might go and knock yourself out."

It's still an option.

With that, Hourousha slapped himself in the face. Though he worked with the Agents of Fate, he doubted he would ever truely understand them.

Unmei the Natu, Seer of Fate:
Action 1: Roost (Prepare for the final round. You won't be able to make an impact if you are KOed action 1!)
Action 2: Peck (Meloetta; either get her attention, or the KOC for being the last to hit her before she is KOed)

Trophy Garden: Akurei

Akurei glanced at the last opponent in the garden, a Cyclohm nearing exhaustion.

In comparison, Akurei stood rather well. His health and energy, while not perfect, were acceptable.

While he had escaped the song, Akurei's growth of power was reset, costing him all the moves building up to his finisher and the copied Volt Switch. Not that he was going to use his finisher move on Cyclohm (it would risk getting himself injured in a way that would prove difficult to deal with) and Volt Switch had served its purpose, being useless against the Cyclohm.

Still, Akurei had a little time to prepare. Either the Cyclohm would rest this round, give weak attacks, or give a strong attack and faint itself.

Which the Messenger of Fate had every intention of exploiting.

Akurei the Eevee, Messenger of Fate:
Action 1: Mimic (Cyclohm: Slack Off)
Action 2: Toxic (Cyclohm)

IF Cyclohm uses a Protective/Evasive action action 2, use Wish (self) that action.

Welp, that whole story thing didn't quite work out. Oh well. Perhaps I shall tell you all the tales later on.

At any rate, the Kangaskhan let out one final roar, before charging for the Rapidash, it's bloodlust not subsiding until the Rapidash is a heap on the ground.

Round Five: Extinction
Aracai

Whatever unity there might have been faded almost instantly when the poison-type disappeared. Sensing that it was no longer reasonable to stay on the surface, the toxic goo began to retreat back into the water, melting into it and sinking back down to the bottom where neither I nor the other combatants could see it any longer, beyond the point where it could be harmed by their attacks.

The foreign frog quickly rematerialized into another block of polluted ice crystals and shot a wave of wintery air over the entire clearing, clearly intent upon harming its temporary friends before they turned on it. I had to duck behind a tree to avoid the worst of the air since I wasn't dressed to stay outside in it. When I turned back around, the bird was much closer to the ground and the Toxicroak saw his chance to strike. He moved forward and pounded the ground, causing a shard of rock to fly out from the impact site. He raised the stone and considered it before holding his hand back and cradling it like a spear. The bird merely sighed, his wings too frozen to do much about the situation as the makeshift spear pierced his heart and ancient blood spilled upon the ground.

The foreign frog sensed something ominous and leaped up into the air, his body changing from ice crystals to mere air as he jumped and became mobile and incorporeal. The Toxicroak turned in panic, not sure what to make of this development. He watched the other frog leap up and away, perhaps for forever. As the last gusts of wind rustled the canopy the sludge burst out of the lake once again, ready to fight. With a quick burst of energy the goop generated a blast of fiery heat that flew towards the Toxicroak and engulfed it in flames of...

Red.

Anyone who has lived in Celestic Woods for any length of time knows what that means. I heard a terrifying hiss in the distance and saw the movement of green on green in the trees as one of my worst nightmares came closer. The Torterra stirred behind me and rose to his full height, as wary as I was of the approaching predator and the frogs and sludge dumb enough to summon it. He was certainly not happy.

And, to be quite frank, neither was I.

Round Five: Off Your High Horse
Jane

I sensed, once, while we were in a city that there was an unusual amount of activity in a Contest Hall, which was odd since Aracai had told me it was abandoned. I investigated, mentally, by peeking into the minds of the Pokemon there.

There were only three. One was a big normal-type mother protecting her baby, which was the second, and the third was an injured Rapidash they were attacking.

The Rapidash was fast and clever and created a big, blue shield, protecting herself from the attacks of the two Kangaskhan as they banged on the edges of her shield with powerful attacks, trying to break it and get in and harm the Rapidash. The Rapidash didn't want to be harmed, so she tried reaaaaalllllllly hard not to be harmed and keep the shield up, which was what was keeping the Kangaskhan out so she couldn't be hurt. But eventually the two did pound on the shield hard enough that the Rapidash had to go to sleep and they beat her up so she got hurt like they wanted.

And then the Kangaskhan were all alone. Just like they wanted.

Mount Coronet
Round Five: Leading the Way
Rediamond

High above the watery chambers where the Probopass fought, the lizard still remained on the roof of the cavern, thriving in the sand despite his typing due to his evolutionary advantages. Heliolisk's sink is surprisingly rough and specifically designed to ward away sand. Even in the wake of the Sandstorm King, the lizard was surprisingly happy. Several wild Pokemon were not, as they viewed the foreigner as a strange threat to their sanctum.

A Golbat led the charge, flying up to the Heliolisk and biting down, sending a neurotoxin through the lizard's body that dramatically lowered its coordination and ability to strike back to the point where it merely rested on the roof, gripping it but unable to move or do anything else even as it took a volley of attacks. Before letting go the Golbat injected the Heliolisk with a much more damaging poison that caused the surrounding area to swell up and the skin to bubble as the poison spread through the paralyzed lizard's body.

Shortly after a Machop jumped up and slammed his fist into the lizard, causing the roof of the cavern to shake and the lizard to come crashing down to the floor. As soon as he collided a Geodude burst out under him, ramming an earth-energy imbued fist into the lizard and bringing it close to the brink—but not quite all the way over.

Down below in the watery chamber, the Sableye loomed out of the darkness and eyed the Probopass. There was an increasingly serious divide amongst the mountain Pokemon as to how the Probopass' extreme measures in the wake of the sandstorm king should be viewed. Many, particularly the sandstorm-vulnerable ones, had decided that the weather conditions and temporary truce had made the Probopass far too powerful. This Sableye was the hitman of the many, intent upon taking out the remaining Probopass while they were weak from their battle with the Crawdaunt.

One of the Probopass saw the attacker coming and fired out a beam of metallic energy through the sand that struck the Sableye straight in one of its eye jewels. Annoyed, the ghost ran forward and dove, striking the attacking Probopass at its lowest point and slamming its foot up. The attack conveyed an explosive amount of fighting-energy into the Probopass, causing it to shutter and crash to the ground in defeat as the assassin dove out of the way. The other Probopass reacted with another spinning stone that hit the Sableye in its other eye and temporarily blinded it, as well as almost knocking it into the water.

But the Sableye had not merely adopted the darkness. It was born in it.

Even without its vision the phantom raced forward and landed a massive sweeping kick on the remaining Probopass, taking it closer to the ground in a burst of released static. Panting heavily with his mission accomplished, the Sableye walked back into darkness. As soon as it disappeared, an onlooking Cleffa saw the second Probopass slowly and uncertainly rise from the ground.

Round Five: Divine Inspiration
???

At the end of the day, when almost all of the combatants had gone home or retreated to lick their wounds, the small bird remained in the park. She landed upon the top of a fountain overlooking the area and rested, letting a faint healing aura spread throughout her body and negate some of the wounds she had suffered over the long day.

Granted, she still would not live forever. That is very hard for his kind and yours. Nearly impossible, even. But she would live one more day at the minimum, barring catastrophic global events beyond his control. It's surprising how often that clause is neglected, especially as it is a rather important one for properly understanding your position in the world.

As she rested the goddess twirled up to her position and looked up. She had not fallen, nor come particularly close with her great power. Instead it appeared as if, independent of her trainer's will, she had come up with a personal mission. The goddess stopped beside the small bird's fountain and sang an inviting song, prompting the bird to come down and investigate the infinitely more powerful psychic-type. She landed on the ground and cocked her head, which was most of her body, and tried to discern the will of this newcomer. The muse merely giggled and drifted closer, extending an inviting hand down to the bird. The Natu pecked it and felt her body be torn apart into individual particles and blasted through space and time. But it was far less painful than you would imagine. Pleasant even.

As soon as the Natu was gone the goddess giggled once more and disappeared in a flash of light. The park lights dimmed and flickered off one by one behind her.

Round Five: Thunderstruck
Evyrus

One day while we were at Raphael's home I went out to explore the garden. It was a very big garden, filled with all kinds of plants and Pokemon toys and houses. Wild and possibly wild Pokemon frolicked or hid or slept or did whatever they felt like doing in the garden, but I ended up paying attention to one match in particular. A large, three-headed dragon was playing with a small Eevee. I absolutely love Eevee. They're adorable, intelligent, surprisingly tough... oh, yeah, and I was one for a long time. There's that.

After some time the fast Eevee wore out the dragon, so he called for a break and collapsed down to the ground to rest. The Eevee tried tugging on his legs for a few minutes to try and get him to keep playing, but eventually he collapsed down on the ground to and rolled around, constantly adjusting himself as he tried to exactly replicate the movements that the dragon was making to rest, which was hard since he had two fewer heads and a much smaller and furrier body.

Eventually the dragon was well-rested enough to get back up and play some more, shooting out a weak bolt of electricity that still made me cringe. The Eevee took it easily enough, although the static electricity did ruffle up his fur, and spit out a small orb of toxins at the dragon in a practice Toxic attack. The dragon play-roared, pretending to be far more seriously injured than it actually was by the attack as he rose to his full height to resume humoring the Eevee.

Round Six: Toxicroaked
Aracai

The foreign frog promptly faded from view and transformed into pure psychic energy, which unnerved me more than a little. I have a bit of a history with psychics. Let's leave that there, for now. The Toxicroak braced itself and prepared to jump away at the first moment of threat, only to suddenly collapse onto the ground in convulsions, badly injured by a force it could neither see nor strike back against. Thus it collapsed to the ground, leaving only four Pokemon and myself in the clearing.

The Scyther rushed forwards towards the goop, rapidly tearing into it with her blades but the goo just kept reforming and pulling itself back together as soon as it was ripped apart. Even against the most formidable predator of the forest the poison glob stood strong. The Wild Torterra also moved, but he moved against the foreign frog. He slammed his paws into the ground, causing a slew of vines to rush up around the fallen Toxicroak and lash out in hopes of hitting the mental energy that formed the frog's body.

The goop seeped into the ground, sinking beneath the earth until there was nothing left of it. The Scyther howled in frustration as the ground beneath her exploded into the air and hit her directly in the stomach causing her to writhe in pain and take a few steps back.

The goop took this opportunity to sink even deeper into the ground, away from the potential interference of the frog, bug, and turtle. This proved to be a wise move as the Scyther sliced down at the ground once more but only hit earth rather than the Pokemon it had been targetting. The frog raced underground as well to meet the remaining poison-type, his body becoming a visible clump of earth the second before he disappeared. The Torterra tried to fight back and lashed out with another round of Grass Knots hoping to strike the earthen frog, but failed to land more than a glancing blow.

Thus the round ended with a Scyther and Torterra above the surface and two mighty combatants below.

Mount Coronet
Round Six: Magnets. How do they work, anyway?
Rediamond

The remaining Probopass braced itself with the magnetism around it, levitating higher into the air and strengthening his inner composition. He held the mountain together. The mountain held him. He could not possibly fall. Despite this, the remaining Pokemon did their best to defeat the magnetic tyrant. The Sableye lit up the cavern with ethereal lights that drifted towards the Magnezone and seeped into his skin, burning him greatly and causing his focus on the mountain to weaken. In the meantime a Golbat flew up and stole his precious, sacred stone that designated him as the undisputed ruler of the Probopass clan he represented. A Machop leaped up from below and kicked the Probopass hard, further weakening it. To make matters worse the Cleffa threw a small glob of mud up at the Probopass.

He shrugged all of these off. He would be the mountain's new king... if only he could connect to it fully. With his full focus the Probopass could have summoned a horde of new Pokemon to beat back the dissidents, but the burn kept him unfocused. He crashed down to the ground to join his rival and companion in defeat as the cheers of the Pokemon of Coronet echoed throughout the mountain.

Round Six: A Wish Your Heart Makes
Jane

I came back later in the day and only the dragon and the Eevee remained. The dragon gave an odd roar that sounded funny and resonant and echoed around the garden and was what got my attention because it was loud and weird. The dragon's body glowed and a purple mist rolled out of it into the air. The Eevee didn't like being out-noised so it roared too and cast out a cute roar that made the dragon shutter a little as his roar was kind of canceled out, but it didn't seem to really be very impacting because Eevee and cute and small and weak.

Not that I would say that to Evyrus' face, of course.

The dragon then plopped down onto the ground and relaxed and spread out and generally didn't care about the small Eevee, which annoyed it. But it also didn't care and just looked up at the full moon and mewed and a small streak of energy flashed up. I wondered if it was praying to Cresselia. I don't like her much but she's strong and can get weak things out of bad situations brought on by stronger ones. Maybe it was invoking her for that?

The remaining frog quickly blurred back into a jet of mental energy that raced across the field and slammed into the blob of sludge, causing quite a bit of apparent damage to it. At the same time the scyther ran into the ball of sludge and tried to slash into it yet another time, but only managed to score some small cuts that broke up the blob into a few smaller pieces. The torterra tried to help as well by shooting roots through the blob, but didn't manage to do much as it quickly reformed into an upright, coherent tower of goop that slowly formed a dripping, ever-moving, and entirely disgusting face. Before the combatants allied against it could react, it dissipated into a ball of darkness and rushed through the air. The frog became visible and solid as a result and crashed down upon the ground in defeat.

Round Seven: The End
Rediamond

Our story comes to an end one day later, after the Heliolisk had finally given in to his poisoining and only the Sableye remained on Mount Coronet out of the original actors in the Battle of the Sandstorm King. He lurked in the darkness, desperately trying to avoid the ever-increasing mob of Wild Pokemon pursuing him. He was agile and skilled at moving in the darkness, but the natives knew their home territory just as well. In the end they found him.

A Golbat and Chingling did him in with a quick assault up close and a ranged blast of fairy aura—the one weakness that the creature had. When struck by that he finally collapsed, the ordeal in Mount Coronet drawn to an end.

The dragon and the Eevee were both really tired by now, but the normal-type still wanted to play and constantly nipped at the dragon's heels in an effort to bait it into giving him what he wanted. Eventually he assented and shot off a weak thunderbolt at the Eevee that did next to no damage, but still pleased the battle-hungry fox. The Eevee responded with another challenging call that echoed across the garden, suddenly gaining an increase in volume as it reflected off the walls. It was a neat trick and the Cyclohm seemed happy that the Eevee had learned such a thing.

Apparently Cresselia was too, since almost instantly a blast of light came down from above that consumed the Eevee in a powerful regenerative light. By the time it cleared the younger Pokemon looked rejuvenated and ready to play for hours more. I didn't even need to be psychic to tell that this frustrated the older dragon that really just wanted to nap. In spite he shot out a blast of pure blue flames that singed the Eevee's coat a little and made him whimper and back away for a little while, but didn't seriously hurt the creature.

You are never taking me alive!

Dodge (Lake, dive in there!) -> Chill

If Dodge wouldnt work to transport Muk to the lake, Shadow Sneak (Lake, dive in there!) that action

Pretty sure Muk doesnt need to breath and he doesnt mind the water (Commonly found in sewers). He didnt mind being in the water on the Anime either.

I am mostly hoping that Muk will be able to get into the lake, Chill without getting injured or wasting too much EN for being under-water and that the Scyther/Toterra wont be able to follow him.
Trophy Garden: Akurei

The Eevee grinned. The Cyclohm was weak on health an energy. Excellent.

Perhaps the enemy would fall the coming round?

Unmei had already travelled to the final battle; Akurei thought she would likely need some help.

Akurei the Eevee, Messenger of Fate:
Action 1: Echoed Voice
Action 2: Chill

OOC: I'm surprised that I'm currently getting first, to be honest.

Rainman Legends did not send orders.

It doesn't really matter. Since this thread is currently only used for updates it could also serve as something of a chat thread.

And I maintain that if you had come back two rounds ago you could have won the whole thing with no problem.

Celestic Woods
Round Eight: Poison

The scyther and torterra proceeded to pound into the sludge with sharp claws and protruding plants, brutalizing the toxin until almost nothing remained. Their point proven, the sludge slipped back into the pond. I never saw it again. Thus the forest's wild pokemon proved themselves more than capable of holding their own turf once again.

And I had an opening to flee the scyther before it noticed.

Protect~Earthquake

I believe in caution, to an extent. For instance when playing a NuzleafLocke or whatever you call them it is essential. I implemented critical hits into the game to add an element of surprise, for example, to force even serious players to exercise caution in fights.

Who am I, you ask?

Why I am the director. We met once. Or I might yet once by proxy. It gets a tad complicated when you think about it. Let's not.

Excessive caution, however, an be entirely unwarranted. Like now. Forced into an unfamiliar situation three players react with absurd caution in a tiebreaker. Come on. You can throw better attacks.

The Kangaskhan stayed in her corner of the floating platform, looking out into space with her daughter and generally ignoring the chaos behind them for a moment. In time they saw a falling star rushing by, streaming the background of the match into blue and white and the baby reached out to touch it. In a twist of fate, she succeeded.

Elsewhere a Muk reacted with virtual cowardice to the challenge, preferring to brace his body for impacts and hope for the best as it stared down to Pokemon much less powerful than himself. The two baby Pokemon took an offensive route. Good for them. The Natu looked over at the Kangaskhan and foresaw her future. Like most of ours, it was none too pleasant... then he saw her multiple futures. Time and permanence are strange things that not even I claim to fully understand. Perhaps the Natu did. She would need to in order to begin guiding things to their proper conclusion.

The energetic Eevee beside it just wanted to play. He squealed loudly and annoyingly in such a way that it was actually painful to listen to. The Natu was used to it, of course, and the Kangaskhan were ignoring her, but the Muk was battered by the sound and sunk deeper into its own body.

The Kangaskhan then turned around and lashed out with a vengeance, pounding the stage so that it began to rock and shake in midspace, threatening to throw all of the combatants off. The Natu simply fluttered higher into the air, above the shaking platform. The Muk braced tighter, refusing to be defeated no matter how hard it became. Only the Eevee was battered, but he held up surprisingly well given the circumstances. The Earthquake, while powerful, was dampened by the Kangaskhan being reluctant to go all-out for fear of hurting themselves and the Eevee's own defensive brace.

The babies then lashed back, with the Natu pushing the baby Kangaskhan off the stage itself with psychic energy. She jumped back of course, because apparently you can jump in midair despite physics saying otherwise, but it was a startling experience nonetheless. As the mother watched in fear, the Eevee took a moment to shower her in poisons.

Speaking of poisons, the Muk just cowered back and did nothing.
